Autobots

    In General
  • La Résistance: By the time the show begins, the Autobots have been reduced to a small resistance group operating out of the soon-to-depart Ark. By the end of season 1, most of the Autobots have left Cybertron, leaving only Elita-1 and her group to keep up the fight against the Decepticon dominion.
  • The Revolution Will Not Be Villified: Optimus tries really hard to uphold this. When Bumblebee is about to leave the Ark, wanting no part in the Autobots' fight, some Autobots hold him at gunpoint because they believe he will rat them out to the Decepticons. Optimus has to order them to stand down and let Bumblebee go.

Leadership

    Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_optimus.png
"Cybertron needs freedom."

Voiced by: Jake Foushee (English), Tesshō Genda (Japanese), Víctor Hugo Aguilar (Latin-American Spanish)

The leader of the Autobots and former friend of Megatron. He, along with Ultra Magnus, studied under the late Alpha Trion.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Prime gets put through the wringer in this series. All other Primes before him have had to deal with the weight of leadership on their shoulders, but WFC Prime has very crippling doubts that have left him questioning his own role in the war.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Optimus believes in the All-Spark to a skeptical Elita-1. However, he scoffs at the idea that Unicron is anything but a myth.
  • Big Good: Like per usual, though this incarnation of Optimus is much less sure of himself.
  • The Chosen One: He bears the Matrix of Leadership as confirmed in Earthrise.
  • Composite Character: He has the designnote  and the vocal inflections of the Generation One Optimus, the We Used to Be Friends dynamic with Megatron that his Bayverse and IDW counterparts have, the crippling self-doubt of his Animated iteration, and the voice of his Cybervese variation.
  • Defiant to the End: Refuses to surrender to Megatron even after the latter has conquered over 99% of Cybertron and has an army that outnumbers the Autobots 10 to 1.
  • The Hero: Leader of the Autobots and the character with the most serious dedication at stopping Megatron.
  • Hero Ball: Optimus grabs it in Earthrise when he is about to execute Megatron, but for some reason cannot go through with it until Megatron forgives him.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: He's not very popular with Cybertronians due to the ubiquitous propaganda Megatron airs branding him an enemy. Even his own Autobots highly disapprove of his leadership and continually try to overrule him on crucial decisions and beg Optimus that they just surrender to Megatron for the sake of not starving of Energon deficiency hiding in foxholes or getting killed on the battlefield. Optimus resolutely stamps out any future of them submitting obedience to Megatron since he claims Megatron won't spare their lives if they surrender.
  • Honor Before Reason: Optimus refuses to kill Megatron even when given multiple opportunities. After he seems to have come to terms that Megatron must die, he cannot kill Megatron without first hearing him say that he forgives him. It costs Optimus dearly.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: The other Autobots seem to think this of him. While Optimus himself is frightened of the prospect of becoming Nemesis Prime, Bumblebee scoffs at the idea and firmly believes he could never become him. And in a way he's proven right when Nemesis' transformation is revealed to have been the work of Unicron.
  • It's All My Fault: As the series progresses, all the loss and destruction around him hit Prime pretty hard, leaving him to blame himself for all of it. Bumblebee has to tell him otherwise since much of it was brought on by Megatron's petty desires of conquest.
  • My Greatest Failure: He feels responsible for the destruction of Cybertron, especially when Megaton claims that Elita died fighting his forces.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Plays the Blue Boy to Elita-1's pink girl.
  • Primary-Color Champion: Blue head and red torso.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: It is because of Optimus's leadership that the Autobots gain new allies to help them resist Megatron's rule such as Impactor, Bumblebee, Jetfire, Ratchet - all four of whom at first opposed the Autobot resistance but were persuaded to join and Optimus granted them membership. It should also be pointed out that Optimus Prime spent a lot more time with Megatron personally/directly than the other Autobots (except maybe the eventual newcomer Jetfire) so he has one of the keenest perceptions of who Megatron is.
  • The Scapegoat: In Siege, many of the Autobots view Optimus as equally responsible for the destruction around them just as it is Megatron's. Prime can't help but agree with them on some level, wondering if standing down would have ended things much more peacefully. This eventually fades away when, through Prime's leadership and Megatron's own actions, they realize just how right the Autobot is about the Decepticon leader.
  • The Unchosen One: He did not acquire the Code of Alpha Trion (going to Bumblebee instead, who didn't want it.) This is a bit of a subversion though as it's revealed that he, specifically, could not receive them because he already had the Matrix of Leadership and it was decided no one should have both.

    Ultra Magnus

Ultra Magnus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_um_1.png

Voiced by: Edward Bosco (English), Kazuhiko Inoue (Japanese), Idzi Dutkiewicz (Latin-American Spanish)

Optimus' brother-in-arms who also studied under Alpha Trion. He's the leader of the Autobot military.

  • Alas, Poor Yorick: Megatron talks to his head like a Companion Cube in Earthrise.
  • Death by Adaptation: Most versions of Ultra Magnus live to see the end of the war. This Ultra Magnus dies before the war reaches Earth.
  • Honor Before Reason: Refuses to fight dishonorably to the point that it is exploited and taunted by Megatron.
  • I Lied: To Megatron about the Autobot hideout base.
  • Number Two: Optimus' first lieutenant and commander of military operations. Elita-1 replaces him after his death.
  • Torso with a View: How he was killed by Megatron.

    Elita- 1

Elita-1

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_elita_9.png
"This isn't the life I imagined for us."

Voiced by: Linsay Rouseau (English), Kikuko Inoue (Japanese), Jocelyn Robles (Latin-American Spanish)

Optimus' lover and one of the higher-ranking Autobots.

  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Her helmet, as seen on the right is a much cleaner, sleeker, and less ridiculous-looking version of her original infamously wacky helmet design. The horn spikes are more pronounced but are more blunt, and more naturally molded on the helmet, as opposed to being tacked-on spikes.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Considering the sub-line's theme of G1 accuracy, while she's still noticeably Elita-1, aside from the work on her helmet, she's much more salmon reddish pink than straight-up pink from the original cartoon, although darker lighting sometimes shows her in a magenta closer to her old color. Likely to differentiate her from Arcee.
  • The Cynic: Is this in comparison to Optimus. Shows signs of becoming The Optimist at the end of the season with the Ark's departure and her taking up leading the remaining Autobot resistance on Cybertron
  • Death by Adaptation: Elita doesn't make it to the end of the series, being taken out by the bombs planted during their attack on Shockwave. Optimus doesn't take her death well. Notable that this is more definite than her Uncertain Doom after her only appearance in the original cartoon
  • I Choose to Stay: As Optimus and the other Autobots get inside the Ark, Elita chooses to remain on Cybertron and lead the resistance against the Decepticons.
  • Number Two: Becomes Optimus' first lieutenant after Ultra Magnus dies.
  • Pink Means Feminine: More reddish-pink when in comparison to Arcee but still present.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Aside from Optimus and Ultra-Magnus, she's far taller than the average Autobot. Subverted by her toy, being a retool of the Earthrise Arcee figure, meaning she's shorter than the Ironhide/Ratchet height she's implied to be and is a Huge Guy, Tiny Girl with Optimus than simply One Head Taller.
  • We Help the Helpless: And as seen in season 2, doesn't matter what faction you are, if your being imprison and doom to slaughter, she will aid you cause as she told Jetfire 'Freedom, is the right of all sentient beings.

    Wheeljack

Wheeljack

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_wheeljack.png

Voiced by: Bill Rogers (English), Volcano Ota (Japanese), Armando Coria (Latin-American Spanish)

The chief technology expert of the Autobots.

  • Deadpan Snarker: Tends to be one of the first to try and make light of a situation where possible
  • The Engineer: The Autobots' main technology expert.

    Ratchet

Ratchet

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_ratchet.png

Voiced by: Rafael Goldstein (English), Hozumi Goda (Japanese), Raúl Solo (Latin-American Spanish)

A former weapon designer, now a pacifist doctor.

  • Adaptational Badass: This version of Ratchet is a former weapon designer and an excellent fighter, unlike most versions who are pure medics.
  • The Atoner: His pacifist doctor side is a result of his regret over his creations as a weapons designer.
  • Combat Medic: He's as skilled a healer as always, but this version is also a skilled fighter as well.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He's not proud of his past as a weapons designer.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Isn't an Autobot at the start of the series, instead of running a clinic that treats both Autobots and Decepticons, and initially only agrees to work with the Autobots when he learns Megatron plans on weaponizing the AllSpark.
  • Out of Focus: In Earthrise and Kingdom, he is given far less attention and has very little standout moments.
  • Palette Swap: As usual, aside from the head, he shares the same body design as Ironhide only in predominantly white colors.

Soldiers

    Arcee

Arcee

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_arcee.png

Voiced by: Sophia Isabella (English), Suzuka Kimura (Japanese), Adriana Olmedo (Latin-American Spanish)

A female Autobot who accompanies Bumblebee on his mission to Soundblaster's underground market.

  • Big Sister Instinct: Displays this towards Bumblebee.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Is a female Autobot whose primary color is pink and is definitely the most feminine-looking of the cast, thanks to the lipstick and slimmer, curvier figure.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female in the Ark crew. And by the end of the trilogy, the only female Autobot left.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She is slimmer and taller than most of the male Autobots.

    Chromia

Chromia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_chromia.png
"We're all soldiers now."

Voiced by: Georgia Reed (English), Masami Katsuyama (Japanese), Rommy Mendoza (Latin-American Spanish)

A female Autobot sniper originally from Caminus.

  • Disney Death: She takes a shot and goes down, and it seems like she's dead. Then she shows up on top of the Space Bridge to help Optimus but takes a shot again and maybe even falls off it. She shows up alive by the end.
    • She later pulls this again in Earthrise, after getting taken out by invisible Decepticons before returning to again snipe her allies' captors.
  • Friendly Sniper: She's pretty chill with those around her and is the best sniper we see in the series, easily taking down three airborne seekers in quick succession at one point.
  • Killed Off for Real: After a few Disney Deaths, she ends up biting it thanks to Shockwave.

    Cliffjumper

Cliffjumper

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_cj.png

Voiced by: Miles Luna (English), Luis Leonardo Suárez (Latin-American Spanish)

An unremarkable Autobot grunt.

  • Palette Swap: Of Bumblebee, clearly. Though in a strange case, considering the toyline, Bumblebee is one for him, as Bee's character model is a yellow coloured version of Cliffjumper's toy. But in the context of the show, Bee appeared first and is a major character, making Cliffjumper this.
  • Uncertain Doom: He's last seen warning Autobot headquarters about the virus taking out their systems. He isn't seen again for the rest of the series, so it's unclear if he managed to get out of there in time or not.

    Cog

Cog

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_cog.png

Voiced by: Brian Robert Burns (English), Yuki Shin (Japanese), Alan Bravo (Latin-American Spanish)

A member of the Autobots and a weaponiser — a Transformer who can turn into equipment for other Transformers.

  • Character Death: Cog dies in the final episode of Earthrise when the Fortune explodes with him onboard.
  • Equippable Ally: His alt-mode is a double-barreled cannon that other Autobots can wear on their backs. Who chooses to aim and fire his guns when he does this isn't revealed.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Cog has Deseeus dead to rights on the deck of the Fortune, but before he can end him, a stray shot causes the ship to rattle, knocking Cog into Doubledealer's throne and allowing Deseeus the chance to stab him. All he can do afterwards is weakly try to radio the Ark and Nemesis and request they ceasefire now that he has control of the ship, not only failing, but shortly after dying when the Fortune crashes into both ships.
  • Unexplained Recovery: In the 2nd episode of Siege, he loses a large chunk of his entire body, but returns in later on intact.

    Hound

Hound

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_hound.png

Voiced by: JW Stafford (English), Taichi Takeda (Japanese), Jorge Badillo (Latin-American Spanish)

An Autobot grunt.

    Ironhide

Ironhide

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_ironhide_5.png

Voiced by: Kaiser Johnson (English), Hector Emmanuel Gómez (Latin-American Spanish)

An Autobot soldier.

  • Ascended Extra: He gets more lines and screen time in Earthrise than Siege.
  • Reused Character Design: Like with Ratchet, aside from the head, he shares the same body design with Ratchet but just with red as his predominant color.

    Mirage

Mirage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_mirage_9.png
His Decepticon Disguise:

Voiced by: Shawn Hawkins (English), Yoshiyuki Matsuura (Japanese), Edson Matus (Latin-American Spanish)

The Autobots' mole within the Decepticons, with the power to project holograms.

    Moonracer

Moonracer

Voiced by: Ellie Main (English), Pauline de Meurville (French)

One of the Autobots who accompanies Optimus to the Sea of Rust to retrieve the AllSpark.
  • An Arm and a Leg: She loses an arm to the Sparkless. Then she loses every other limb.
  • C-List Fodder: Has been around since the '80. Killed not long after her debut episode in this adaptation.
  • Damsel in Distress: Optimus tried to save her from the Sparkless. He was too late.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: The light in her eyes faded as Optimus held her corpse after the Sparkless tore off all her limbs.
  • Dog Pile of Doom: She gets swarmed and dismembered by the Sparkless.
  • Screaming Woman: She starts screaming hysterically when the Sparkless zombies corner her.
  • Palette Swap: Likely because she doesn't have her own toy in the line, her animation model is a cyan version of Chromia.
  • Red Shirt: She is the only member of Prime’s team to retrieve the Allspark to not be established earlier. Her death is meant to show how deadly the Sparkless are.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Moonracer is torn apart by the Sparkless not long after being introduced.

    Prowl

Prowl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_prowl.png

Voiced by: Aaron Veach (English), Juan Carlos Tinoco (Latin-American Spanish)

A former police officer who accompanies Optimus to the Sea of Rust.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: How he views the use of the core override inhibitor chips on prisoners during his time as a cop in Praxus during the Pre-War days.
  • Fire-Forged Friendship: Forms one with Jetfire after disliking and not trusting him for being a Decepticon. After Jetfire saves his life and proves his desire to help the cause above his own well-being, Prowl comes to respect him.

    Red Alert

Red Alert

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_redalert.png

Voiced by: Todd Haberkorn (English), Kazumasa Nakamura (Japanese), Erick Selim (Latin-American Spanish)

The Autobots' medic.

  • Combat Medic: Pulls double duty as a soldier and a medic.
  • Composite Character: He has his G1 appearance along with his knowledge as a medic in Transformers: Armada.
  • Disney Death: Skytread guns him down as he tries to board the Ark, causing him to fall into a chasm; he turns out to have survived and winded up as a member of Elita's resistance team alongside Chromia and Jetfire.
  • Killed Off for Real: His Disney Death aside, he's among the many Autobots who perish during the final assault on Shockwave.
  • Palette Swap: He shares a body type with Sideswipe, as per usual.

    Sideswipe

Sideswipe

Voiced by: Mark Whitten (English), Mutsuki Iwanaka (Japanese), Miguel Angel Ruiz (Latin-American Spanish)

An Autobot soldier.

  • Disney Death: In the final episode of Siege, he's shot down when the Decepticons attack the Spacebridge, alongside most of the characters there. He shows up alive in Earthrise.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He gets easily angry by being reminded of how unsuccessful the Autobots have been in the war on Cybertron.

Decepticons

    In General
  • The Empire: By the time the show begins, the Decepticons already control a huge portion of Cybertron and have forced the Autobots into hiding.
  • The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized: Under Megatron's leadership, the Decepticons have become just as brutal and oppressive as the caste system they sought to overthrow.

Leadership

    Megatron

Megatron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_megs_9.png
"Cybertron needs strength. MY strength."

Voiced by: Jason Marnocha (English), Hōchū Ōtsuka (Japanese), Gerardo Vásquez (Latin-American Spanish)

Leader of the Decepticons, who rose up against the corrupt government of Cybertron before he decided to take a much more aggressive approach to ruling the planet.

  • Arm Cannon: The iconic fusion cannon. It can apparently turn into a gladiator sword when he needs a close-range weapon.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Comes with being the leader of the Decepticons. He leads the charge at the climactic battle at the end of the season to try and prevent the Autobots from taking the AllSpark and escaping Cybertron
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Earthrise ends with him stealing Prime's Matrix of Leadership.
  • Berserk Button: Being compared to a 'Quintesson'.
    • Do not lecture him, just look at what nearly happen to Shockwave.
  • Big Bad: The primary antagonist of the series, as per usual.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Megatron and Deseeus are the main antagonists of Earthrise.
  • Can't Take Criticism: He nearly shot Shockwave point-blank in the face for "lecturing him" about placing to many fail-safes in his interrogation methods.
  • Cool Sword: Attempts to execute Optimus with a gladiatorial sword until Elita-1 snipes him. He reuses it to engage in a sword duel against Dinobot in Kingdom.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: At the start of the series, he wants the war to come to a close peacefully and is reluctant to use more unsavory methods. This goes away over the course of "Siege".
    • In Earthrise, he was also hesitant to resort to using sparks of his own kind to power up the Nemesis. After seeing Sector 12 occupied by weak and dying Decepticon, he allows Shockwave to shut down their power and divert it to them. However, a visit from his future self Galvatron likely convince him to shun any concern for his fellow Decepticons.
    • He also equates Bumblebee's (initial) refusal to pick a side to cowardice, which disgusts Megatron. The Autobots might be his sworn enemy but at least he respected that they wore their colors with pride.
    • He is disgusted by Galvatron's willingness to allow Cybertron and its inhabitants to die in order to save himself. Even though Megatron is also horrified and loathes the idea of becoming a slave to Unicron as a result, the idea of sacrificing his home and all remaining life on it for his own sake is too much for him and he eventually turns on him.
  • Fallen Hero: As with most Megatrons in most modern Transformers series he originally got started leading a revolution against an oppressive caste system before becoming Evil Overlord he is by the start of the series. He only gets worse as by the end of the first season he becomes committed to wiping out all Autobots in order to end the war.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He tries acting courteous and respectful to his foes, but he's trying to goad them into bending to his whims, whether they want to or not.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: He claims to be fighting oppression (by oppressors he means the Autobots who were the wealthy elite ruling class) by having led the Decepticons (once lower-class miners and servants) in a rebellion to nearly succeed in eradicating all Autobots à la Vladimir Lenin. However, he treats the Decepticons poorly himself (especially Starscream) and wants full control over their lives, and removes their free will to only serve his wrath and thirst for anger. Ultra Magnus even warns Megatron, "Don't become like the ones we [Transformers] rose against."
    • This gets far more pronounced in Earthrise when Optimus and Scorponok outright call Megatron a Quintesson (the species that oppressed the Transformers but then fled when the Transformers rebelled), making Megatron explode in anger to hear this.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: As he puts it to Ultra Magnus: "I have done what I had to do.. to end this war".
  • I Work Alone: In Earthrise, his future self Galvatron tells him that he can't trust anyone, the only one he can rely on is himself.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk:
    • Megatron seems reluctant to torture Magnus to get the information he needs, turning away while Shockwave is electrocuting him. Megatron later kills Magnus himself once he finds out he was lied to.
    • Megatron seems affable with Shamble and is initially reluctant to divert Sector 12's power to Project Nemesis. Shamble being seen as one of the Decepticons killed for said project after Sector 12 is decommisioned should tell you everything you need to know.
  • Never My Fault: He pins the blame on Optimus for the war on Cybertron refusing to take any responsibility that he started the war by building up the Decepticon military empire.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Is so consumed by revenge that he is willing to use genocidal methods against the Autobots such as EMP blasts and using the AllSpark to reformat all Autobots into Decepticons changing their biology.
  • The Power of Hate: In Earthrise, Galvatron teaches him to use his hatred and anger to achieve victory.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has them as his default.
  • Revenge: This is the primary reason why he continues to antagonize and hunt the Autobots. It doesn't matter how minuscule and insignificant of an army they've gotten, he just wants to terminate them all out of spite for putting him through a long period of labor mining for Energon.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Megatron breaks the Enemy Mine between him and Optimus to try to kill his nemesis before Scorponok has even been defeated.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: This Megatron knows how to cast himself as the noble leader of his honorable warriors, and Optimus Prime as the despicable coward who will stoop to any lengths in the name of victory. He gives many a Rousing Speech to the Decepticons, filling them in on the latest Autobot intelligence, spinning it in such a way that it makes Prime's plans look even worse than they really are. The Autobots even agree with Megatron to an extent, wondering if Prime was more responsible for the war than Megatron, but they quickly change their tunes when they learn exactly what he plans to do.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When he sees Optimus successfully throw the AllSpark into the Space Bridge.

    Jetfire

Jetfire

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_jetfire.png

Voiced by: Keith Silverstein (English), Kenji Nomura (Japanese), José Gilberto Vilchis (Latin-American Spanish)

Megatron's air commander, who leads the Seekers.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: As above with Starscream, there's little indication he was friends with Starscream at any point as he was in G1 cartoon.
  • Adaptational Villainy: At first at least. His G1 counterpart was only a Decepticon for a brief while after he was re-awakened on Earth, long after the conflict had started, and because he was friends with Starscream. He then rather quickly became an Autobot once he became more aware of the situation. Here he's been a Decepticon since the onset of the war and is a high-ranking member of Megatron's inner circle.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: A blue plasma blade on his right arm.
  • Death by Adaptation: When the final assault on Shockwave goes horribly wrong, he ends up dying alongside the rest of his comrades.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Mass genocide was not something he signed up for.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He defects to the Autobots upon hearing that Megatron plans to brainwash them into Decepticons.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: He is the only Decepticon with blue eyes. Once he joins the Autobots, his eye color matches most of the eyes of his team.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: He hat a set of missile tubes in his back. Fittingly enough, the original Jetfire toy was a VF1 Valkyrie which is the codifier for "mecha that can Itano Circus"
  • Noble Demon: Jetfire may have started off as a high-ranking Decepticon but he also has a genuine moral code and values honor. It's due to this that he ends up defecting to the Autobots when he discovers that Megatron intends to commit genocide against the Autobots viewing it as distasteful.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Starscream’s red.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed, but after his defection to the Autobots, he proposes utilizing more unsavory tactics against his old comrades. Elita won't have any of it, and eventually, he comes around.
  • Token Flyer: Serves this role to the Autobots after he joins them.

    Starscream

Starscream

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_starscream_9.png

Voiced by: Frank Todaro (English), Setsuji Sato (Japanese), Irwin Daayán (Latin-American Spanish)

A high-ranking Seeker who disagrees with Jetfire's leadership of his team.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: G1 cartoon Starscream and Jetfire were genuine friends before the Great War, falling out after Jetfire had been re-awakened on Earth long after the conflict had started. Here they're both at one another's throats and there's little indication they were ever particularly friendly towards one another.
  • Adaptational Badass: Believe it or not, while losing his arm unexpectedly by Jetfire at first, when pitted against him later the fight is fairly even. No longer the utter-pushover he is in the Generation-1 series.
  • Composite Character: Generally a pretty straight version of his G1 self, Starscream dips into his Armada variant once he sees the power that Unicron possesses and tries to get the Autobots and Decepticons to work together.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He is infuriated by Jetfire killing a Decepticon.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Pretends to be open to the Autobots surrendering before revealing that he intends to kill any Autobot on sight.
  • The Fundamentalist: He's a zealot who despises the shreds of mercy that Jetfire and Megatron offer the Autobots. He argues for the genocide of Autobots with a shoot-on-sight policy.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: He sees first-hand what Unicron is capable of when a recording Megatron took of his conversion into Galvatron has Unicron mention Starscream by name. When Blackarachnia catches up to him, he's completely catatonic until he finally tears himself out of his stupor long enough to realize what he has to tell anyone who will listen. By the final episode, they had to throw him in a Stasis Cell just to keep him from lashing out at people from the complete and utter terror of what he knows is coming. They do listen to his warnings, though, and by the epilogue, the Autobots and the Decepticons have agreed to cease hostilities in order to prepare for Unicron's eventual coming.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After he learns about Unicron and what he is capable of, he puts aside all his cowardly and backstabbing ambitions and goals of leadership and attempts to make peace with the Autobots and Maximals, understanding that fighting among themselves is exactly what Unicron wants.
  • Master Race: Sees the Decepticons as this.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In Kingdom discovering the threat of Unicron shakes Starscream to his very core. When the others finally discover him he completely abandons the cowardly, opportunistic, and backstabbing ways that he is so famous for and humbly begs the Autobots whom he has shown extreme bigotry for in the past to help him, acknowledging them as better suited leaders. He also acts to try to maintain Megatron's leadership over the Decepticons knowing that anything else is exactly what Unicron wants and the untold horrors that would lead to.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Jetfire’s blue. Leads to many clashes between them both verbally and physically.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: He does this to Megatron in Kingdom. When Megatron is holding him by the neck for interferring, Starscream gets him to hesitate by mockingly revealing that Galvatron is his future self, made a slave by Unicron, before giving an awesome Pre-Asskicking One-Liner, kicking out of his grip, and ramming him off the Nemesis.
Megatron: You can't do anything right Starscream! (Prepares to blast Starscream.)
Starscream: I... can fly. (Kicks out of Megatron's grip, transforms into his jet mode, flies back around and rams Megatron off the platform.)
  • The Starscream: Trope Namer, only this time he's just trying to take control of the Seekers rather than the entire Decepticon army. Only time will tell whether or not he tries to usurp Megatron. In Earthrise, he tried to appoint himself leader when Megatron is believed to be dead or weak, until Megatron put him back in line. Iin a major deviation from the norm, this is subverted in Kingdom - hearing Unicron directly talking to him via the Golden Disk, alongside what the Chaos Bringer has planned, shakes Starscream so badly that he stops wanting to be leader of the Decepticons, because Unicron is that much of a threat.

    Shockwave

Shockwave

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_shockwave.png

Voiced by: Todd Haberkorn (English), Chafurin (Japanese), Eduardo Tejedo (Latin-American Spanish)

Megatron's chief scientist, who is more than willing to employ unsavory tactics — and encourages Megatron to do the same.

  • Adaptation Personality Change: Most versions of Shockwave are The Spock, a Straw Vulcan, The Stoic, or a mix in between. This one is more openly emotional, somewhat closer to Tarantulas in terms of his scheming and personality.
  • Adaptational Villainy: While Shockwave in his IDW incarnation did much worse on a wider scale, he was once a kind-hearted senator who was forcibly subjected to have his empathy removed. Here, it was self-inflicted to be more efficient.
  • Cyber Cyclops: As always.
  • Death by Adaptation: Thanks to Elita's bomb, he doesn't live to see the Decepticons return, unlike most versions.
  • Desecrating the Dead: Uses Ultra Magnus' corpse, as well as it strings it up in his lab, to relay a virus to the same Autobot processors that received the Alpha Trion protocols that effectively causes the Autobot's defenses to suffer total system failures. Making them vulnerable to a Decepticon all-out assault.
  • Mad Scientist: He indulges in all sorts of unethical experiments, such as a virus that will destroy every single Autobot computer and data storage system on Cybertron. Megatron decides to fully let Shockwave off the leash later on to achieve the total extinction of the Autobots.
  • Plaguemaster: Shockwave is behind the creation and development of a a special virus which will be used to forcefully reformat all Autobots into Decepticons, effectively committing genocide against the Autobot race. He's also quite eager to spread it and helps to steer Megatron into a plan to unleash it.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Like most incarnations, he is a purple Decepticon who is shown to be quite a formidable fighter when going against Elita One.
  • Soul Eating: Elita is horrified when she discovers he's been draining Decepticon sparks to survive.
  • The Unfettered: Even more so than Megatron in this regard. There's no action he considers beneath him. From forcefully reformating Autobots to draining Decepticon sparks, he will do it without hesitation or remorse. The other Decepticons are either horrified or shocked by some of these actions and even Megatron was shown to be reluctant to go through with some of these.

    Soundwave

Soundwave

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_soundwave.png
"Most inferior."

Voiced by: Edward Bosco (English), Shinnosuke Ogami (Japanese), Fidel Garriga (Latin-American Spanish)

One of Megatron's lieutanents.

  • The Dragon: To Megatron.
  • Feathered Fiend: Accompanied by Laserbeak as per usual.
  • Machine Monotone: It's Soundwave, so it comes with the territory
  • Only Sane Man: So much so that he serves as a stabilizing element for Megatron, usually opposing Shockwave's more unethical tactics and experiments. He's also the one to repeatedly voice his concerns regarding Megatron's increasingly unethical plans.
  • Robo Speak: As is the usual case but he noticeably Sounds far more noticeably machine-like than in even earlier depictions of his voice.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: His sentiments on hearing Megatron put the words, "Starscream" and "promoted" in the same sentence complete with a Face Palm.
    Soundwave: Most. Inferior.
  • Voice Changeling: He's capable of this as he impersonates Ultra Magnus perfectly to create a phony transmission to the Autobots.

Soldiers

    Astrotrain

Astrotrain

A gigantic Decepticon who took part in the Decepticons' attack on the Ark.

    Barricade

Barricade

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_barricade_9.png

Voiced by: Alexander Dillalo (English), Hinata Tadokoro (Japanese), Gerardo García (Latin-American Spanish)

A sadistic Decepticon soldier.
  • Adaptational Wimp: He gets pushed around more easily than his previous counterparts.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Or Tyrannosaurus Rex. He's the one who boldly told off Predacon Megatron that Decepticons like him don't obey animal-based Predacons, leading to Predacon Megatron annihilating some of Barricade's soldiers in Tyrannosaurus mode thus a terrified Barricade caves in and carries out the orders he was given.
  • Butt-Monkey: Comes off as the resident one for the Decepticons.
    • First for firing on Ultra Magnus when explicitly told to wait for the command, which earns him a a swift beating.
    • Than getting chewed out for losing an ambush set for the Autobots that led to Impactor seemingly dying and losing a cache of Energon.
    • Starscream also knocks him down to the ground on the ship when they couldn't agree on what course of action to take when Megatron didn't return from the Space Bridge.
    • And then gets a swift beating from Predacon Megatron after he mouthed off to him, saying Decepticons don't take orders from Predacons.
  • Canon Immigrant: Of a sort. There was a G1 Barricade but this Barricade is clearly based off the character from theTransformers Film Series. Besides the shared name there is no relation or connection between this and the earlier "G1 Barricade".
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: He's abruptly shot by Optimus Prime in Episode 2 of Kingdom, and he next appears as an Allspark spirit.
  • Extreme Doormat: Both Megatron and Starscream are abusive towards him, and he's too subservient to do anything about it. He tries to avert this in Kingdom by standing up to and dismissing the command of the Predacon Megaton. However, the Predacon commander swiftly kills his co-conspirator and terrifies Barricade back into subservience.
  • Fantastic Racism: Tells off Predacon Megatron, "We don't take orders from Predacons!"
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His refusal to fire on the Autobots and Maximals simply because the Tyrannosaurus Megatron gave him the order allows the Autobots a chance to run.
  • Palette Swap: Aside from a different head shape, he's one for Prowl only with black and purple.

    Hotlink

Hotlink

One of the Seekers.
  • Advertised Extra: Despite getting a toy release, his role in the show is just "mook #whatever".
  • Palette Swap: A purple-and-black version of Starscream, though he's visually distinct from Skywarp.
  • The Voiceless: He doesn't speak whatsoever.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: He gets blown up a few times, but doesn't stay down. They may just be other Seekers with identical colours.

    Impactor

Impactor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_impactor.png
"Thank you for saving me."

Voiced by: Brook Chalmers (English), Shinnosuke Ogami (Japanese), Ricardo Tejedo (Latin-American Spanish)

A very skilled Decepticon who joined back in the faction's early days.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Impactor has never been the nicest 'bot but this first time he's been a Decepticon as he's usually always been an Autobot in most prior incarnations.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: His motive for helping Ratchet is because the latter repaired him after the Decepticons left him for dead.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Slowly succumbs to injuries inflicted by Starscream while in Ratchet's arms.
  • Eat the Rich: Eat the Autobot bourgeoisie. Impactor in Episode 3 states that he and Megatron were lower-class workers who mined Energon non-stop to enable a lavish, opulent life for the Autobots.
    Impactor: Autobots. Elitist scum!
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: After he dies, no one mentions him again.
  • Heel–Face Turn: While he still identifies himself as a Decepticon, Impactor agrees to help the Autobots repair a damaged space bridge in order to escape from Cybertron, partly because he wants to help Ratchet and partly because he feels that Megatron is no longer the same noble reformist he once admired. He even sacrifices his life to protect Ratchet.
  • Taking the Bullet: He is mortally wounded while shielding Ratchet from Starscream, dying minutes later in Ratchet's arms.

    Ravage

Ravage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/siegeepisode2_ravage.jpg

Voiced by: Frank Todaro (English)

A Decepticon at Soundwave's command who transforms into a jaguar.
  • Ascended Extra: In Earthrise, he gets to do some fighting.
  • Right-Hand Cat: He was put in charge of the search-and-rescue operation to find Impactor if he were still alive after being crushed by a building. Ravage had to confirm to Barricade that he couldn't find Impactor with a dismal head shake.

    Refraktor

Refraktor

Voiced by: Frank Todaro (English), Esteban Desco (Latin-American Spanish)

The most generic Decepticon grunt, as usual.

  • Mook: Just like in the G1 animated series, his model is used as the common Decepticon grunt model.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: In the little screen time he has, one of the mooks gets shot down by Soundblaster's security when he tried arguing with their boss for stealing supplies from him.

    Scrapface

Scrapface

Voiced by: Adin Rudd (English)

A hard-luck Decepticon grunt.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Getting saved by Elita One’s group when he was about to be get his spark harvested by his own faction makes him change sides and fight alongside the last remaining Autobots.
  • Palette Swap: He's one of the many Refraktor recolors in the Decepticons.
  • Unfortunate Names: "Scrap" is unfortunate enough on its own, but it's used as a Cybertronian expletive as well. Imagine effectively being named "Shithead".

    Shamble

Shamble

Voiced by: Frank Todaro (English), Jos Gómez (Latin-American Spanish)

A Decepticon factory worker from Sector 12, who has looked up to Megatron since his gladiator days.

  • Affably Evil: Shamble is nothing short of friendly, telling Megatron how much he looks up to him and is optimistic even in his poor conditions.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Before having his spark harvested, Shamble begs for his life as a loyal Decepticon. Barricade doesn't care and Shamble is shoved into the chamber to his death.
  • Artificial Limbs: His leg has been replaced by a sub-par prosthetic.
  • Palette Swap: Of Refraktor.
  • The Pollyanna: Shamble has his leg replaced with a sub-par prosthetic and admits the factory's output has fallen, but still remains confident that they just need some new workers and supplies while still managing good productivity with what they have.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: The horror of Project Nemesis is emphasized by Shamble being the first Decepticon we are shown having their spark harvested.

    Skytread

Skytread

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_skytread.png

Voiced by: Philip Bache (English), Carlos Hernández (Latin-American Spanish)

A sadistic Decepticon soldier, who likes to desecrate corpses alongside his buddy Spinister.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When Chromia starts rescuing her teammates by firing at the Decepticons holding them hostage, Skytread lowers his gun and tries to get her to spare his life by reminding her he helped Elita’s Autobots escape a few days ago. Chromia just shoots him anyways.
  • Dead Guy on Display: Along with Spinister, he puts the remains of Autobots they kill on spikes for public display.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite being a sadist and a thug, Megatron's decision to use Cybertronians as material and fuel for the Nemesis is too far for Skytread, leading him to help Elita's Autobots escape.
  • Kill Tally: He and Spinister seem to be keeping one between them.
  • Sadist: He takes enough pleasure in killing Autobots to count how many he kills.

    Skywarp

Skywarp

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_skywarp.png

Voiced by: Mark Whitten (English), Juan Carlos González (Latin-American Spanish)

One of many Seekers.

  • Almost Dead Guy: After being shot by Jetfire, he manages to fly all the way back to Decepticon HQ and tell Starscream about the betrayal before dying.
  • Asshole Victim: While Skywarp was shot in the back by Jetfire, he was still a Decepticon thug who believed all the Autobots should be wiped clean off of Cybertron.
  • Death by Adaptation: Unlike a lot of other stories, where he either survives the war or becomes Cyclonus/Armada, he gets taken out early in the war.
  • Palette Swap: As always, he's black and purple Starscream.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He appears and doesn't stand out at all, usually just being one of many Seekers in a scene involving Starscream and/or Jetfire. He dies from wounds inflicted by Jetfire, after reporting Jetfire's betrayal to Starscream, and we don't really learn anything about him. He's just a plot device in the Starscream vs. Jetfire subplot.

    Spinister

Mercenaries

    Soundblaster

Soundblaster

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_soundblaster.png

Voiced by: Rafael Goldstein (English), Yōhei Tadano (Japanese)

A failed clone of Soundwave who went on to become a criminal.

  • Berserk Button: He gets agitated over someone reminding him of being a Soundwave clone.
  • Clone Angst: Per Bumblebee, reminding him he's a clone is a Berserk Button for him.
  • Decomposite Character: Soundblaster is now a failed clone of Soundwave turned Energon dealer, rather than an upgrade of Soundwave himself as in Transformers: ★Headmasters. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it's the first case to be depicted in Western Animation.
  • Evil Doppelgänger: Yes, Soundwave is already evil, but Soundblaster lacks even the most basic sense of loyalty and humility that Soundwave is typically known for while having exactly as much intellect and espionage capability.
  • Feathered Fiend: As Soundwave has Laserbeak, Soundblaster has Buzzsaw.
  • Friend in the Black Market: Subverted. Bumblebee takes the Autobots to him to steal his raw Energon supply rather than barter for it.
  • Hypocrite: He gets angry over Bumblebee stealing his Energon. But Soundblaster stole Energon too from a Refraktor mook.
  • Machine Monotone: Speaks in this. Fittingly enough as he's a clone of Soundwave.
  • Only in It for the Money: Despite not being affiliated with the Decepticons, he was perfectly willing to turn Bee, Arcee, and Cog over to them for the price on their heads.
  • Palette Swap: As per franchise tradition, he's a black-and-red recolor of Soundwave. Unlike the many other palette swaps and re-used models, this is justified as he's stated to be a failed clone of Soundwave.
    • He even comes with Buzzsaw, Laserbeak's original palette swap.
  • Sticky Fingers: He's stolen something (most likely Energon) from Refraktor.
  • Uncertain Doom: Even though he isn’t seen dying, the desolate state of Cybertron towards the end of the series strongly implies he died alongside most of the population.
  • War for Fun and Profit: Is an underworld crime boss who makes deals with Autobots, Decepticons, and others. In addition, he bears a mercenary logo instead of the standard Autobot and Decepticon ones.

    Doubledealer

Doubledealer

Voiced by: Michael Schwalbe (English)

The captain of the Fool's Fortune, an unaligned bot who doesn't care who he fights, as long as he's paid.
  • Adapted Out: His partners Skar and Knok don't appear with him, as this version isn't a Powermaster.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Thanks to Deeseeus, his body is taken over by the Quintesson.
  • Character Death: Doubledealer dies in the final episode of Earthrise when the Fortune explodes with him onboard.
  • Large and in Charge: The largest of the Mercenaries by far, and the one who considers himself in charge
  • Heel–Face Turn: Eventually sees that Optimus's journey to save Cybertron is legitimate, and turns on the Quintessons to help the Ark crew escape.
  • Meaningful Name: He turns on the Quintessons for refusing to pay him.
  • Only in It for the Money: He just works for whoever pays him best.

    Exhaust

Exhaust

Voiced by: Ken Rogers (English)

The technician of Doubledealer's crew.
  • Palette Swap: Of Wheeljack, as is traditional. Unlike other versions of him, however, he shares Wheeljack's head design.
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: He and Bug Bite are sent flying out of the airlock of their ship into the endless void of space when Cog ambushes them from behind.

    Bug Bite

Bug Bite

Voiced by: Alex Taber (English)

The primary scout of Doubledealer's crew.
  • Adaptational Species Change: Originally a GoBot who underwent a body change to blend in with Cybertronians, here he is a full-fledged Cybertronian.
  • Adapted Out: He is no longer a dimension-traveling GoBot, unlike his appearances in previous Transformers media.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Insists along with the other mercenaries that Bumblebee is ugly, despite the fact that they share identical body types and similar faces.
  • Palette Swap: Of Bumblebee, being a sort of Evil Twin for him.
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: He and Exhaust are sent flying out of the airlock of their ship into the endless void of space when Cog ambushes them from behind.

    Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet

Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet

Voiced by: Jay Sanford (English, Dirge)

Voiced by: Michael Jones (English, Thrust)

Three "Conehead" seekers who makes up the muscle of Doubledealer's group.

  • Demoted to Extra: While the Coneheads were never exactly stars, here they barely speak.
  • Palette Swap: All the Coneheads have the same body type with only their colors to distinguish them.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The Coneheads bail out after Deseeus takes control of Doubledealer.
  • The Voiceless: Unlike the other coneheads, Ramjet doesn't even have a credited voice actor.

Maximals

    In General
  • Adapted Out: The Season 2 and 3 additions (Silverbolt, Depth Charge, Tigerhawk) don't appear. Blackarachnia also doesn't become a full member of the Maximals, only pulling an Enemy Mine with them.
  • Demoted to Extra: Cheetor and Tigatron don't get to do much compared to the rest.

    Optimus Primal

Optimus Primal

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_kingdom_ep1_optimus_primal_attacks_optimus_prime.jpg

Voiced by: Justin Pierce (English)

The leader of the Maximals on Earth.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Poor Primal is haunted by the loss of over 200 Maximals under his command and the horrific future which he and his crew hailed from. At least the original Primal was pretty chipper in spite of his lack of experience with his motley crew.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He puts up a good fight against Prime himself in their initial fight aboard the Ark, and he still leads the Maximals in this version.

    Cheetor

Cheetor

Voiced by: Joe Hernandez (English)

A young Maximal scout.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: This incarnation of Cheetor seems more mature and less impulsive than his 1996 self.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: He gives one to the Predecon Megatron when he and the other Maximals and Autobots give Optimus Primal backup against him.
Arcee: You sound just like Megatron.
Predecon Megatron: I... am... MEGA-(gets blasted in the face) ARGH!
    Cheetor: Shut... up!

    Rhinox

Rhinox

Voiced by: Andy Barnett (English)

The Maximals' science officer.
  • The Big Guy: The largest of the Maximals by far.
  • Genius Bruiser: Is introduced getting into an evenly-matched one-on-one with Hound and then uses his expertise to help fix the Ark.
  • The Smart Guy: As usual he's this for the Maximals, teaming up with his Autobot counterparts Wheeljack and Ratchet to repair the Ark.

    Rattrap

Rattrap

Voiced by: Frank Todaro (English)

The Maximals' resident spy.
  • Aliens of London: Retains his Brooklyn accent.
  • Sizeshifter: Unlike the other Maximals, Rattrap actually shrinks to the size of a rat when in beast mode.

    Airazor

Airazor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tigatron_netflix.jpeg

Voiced by: Erin Ebers (English)

  • Badass in Distress: Gets captured by the Predacon-Decepticon alliance early on in the season when scouting the crashed Decepticon ship, forcing the Maximals and Autobots to carry out a rescue mission.
  • Battle Couple: Seems to still have this relationship with Tigatron.
  • Power Palms: Airazor has units built into her palms that can fire laser blasts.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: She survives to the end of the series, unlike her 1996 version who was fused with Tigertron into Tigerhawk, only to die in the series finale.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Has this with Blackarachnia, when they infiltrate the Nemesis to disable its weapons. She still goes out of her way to save her from falling to her death when escaping the ship.

    Tigatron

Tigatron

Voiced by: Beau Marie (English)

Another Maximal scout.
  • Battle Couple: Seems to still have this relationship with Airazor. In fact, he is the one to notify the Maximals of Airazor's capture, and almost breaks from Primal's plan to rescue Airazor by assaulting the Decepticon base head on.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: He survives to the end of the series, unlike his 1996 version who was fused with Airazor into Tigerhawk, only to die in the series finale.

Predacons

    In General
  • Adapted Out: Unlike the Maximals (who have their full Season 1 roster from Beast Wars) Terrorsaur, Waspinator, Tarantulas and Inferno don't appear. The Season 2 and 3 Predacons such as Quickstrike, Rampage, Dinobot II and Predacon Ravage (granted him being a future version of the original Ravage does mean he technically does appear) are also absent.note

    Megatron (Predacon)

Predacon Megatron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_kingdom_ep1_predacon_megatron_pets_trex_head.jpg
"Yes"

Voiced by: Marqus Bobesich (English)

The leader of the Predacons on Earth. He deeply idolizes the original Megatron, to the point where he renamed himself after him.
  • Adaptational Context Change: The reason behind him calling himself Megatron is changed here. In the original series, he chose to name himself after a Megatron who was foretold as a great destroyer from the Covenant of Primus. His comics counterpart was implied to have named himself after the original Megatron so he won't be forgotten as a nobody. Here, he named himself after the original Megatron because he's an Ascended Fanboy.
  • Adaptational Dumbass: He's far less of a schemer and more of a sycophant to his namesake. Rather than him stealing the Golden Disk for himself, Galvatron has to instruct him to do it.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The original Predacon Megatron was a Machiavellian schemer, a master manipulator, and a genocidal madman who ran circles around both friend and foe alike. This version, though still fearsome in direct combat, is more a Professional Butt-Kisser to his namesake, unlike the original, who came far closer to succeeding in his goals of universal domination than G1 Megatron ever did.
  • Ascended Fanboy: He idolizes his namesake and is overjoyed to work with him.
  • Bad Boss: He mauls one of the bots under his command when they disobey him, scaring the rest into line.
  • Composite Character: This Predacon Megatron’s utter devotion to the original Megatron is somewhat similar to Inferno’s similar fanaticism for the original Pred Megs.
  • Decomposite Character: He is still the silver-tongued Bad Boss of the Predacons, but a lot of his scheming traits have been transferred to Galvatron.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this to the original Megatron.
  • Generation Xerox: Pretty much a T-Rex version of the Decepticon Megatron. He's nearly wiped out his rival race of transformers. His enemy is also called Optimus. He's an Anti-Villain that fancies himself as being an Anti-Hero because he's helping the Decepticon Megatron make a better future.
  • Large and in Charge: Not only is his alt mode that of a massive T-rex, he towers over almost all the other bots in robot mode. Even Decepticon Megatron is a head shorter than him.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Hilariously, Decepticon Megs clearly does not fancy having his descendant share his name, even ordering him to change it at one point. He just refers to his descendant as "the Predacon leader" when needed.
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: He's always kissing up to Decepticon Megatron, which Optimus Primal calls him out on.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Despite being an Adaptational Wimp, this Megatron is still a very dangerous commander and an utterly ruthless fighter who can combine both his robot and beast forms to literally tear his opponents to shreds. As the commander of the Predacons, he managed to reduce the Maximal army from a force of 200 units to a squad of 6. One unruly Decepticon Seeker learns this the hard way as Megatron mauls him in his beast mode when he dismisses the Predacon commander’s orders. The rest of the seekers quickly fall in line after this display.
  • Verbal Tic: He still lets out the occasional yeeeeeees.
  • Vocal Dissonance: He has a very high-pitched voice compared to his large and imposing figure.

    Dinobot

Dinobot

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_kingdom_ep2_dinobot_catches_ba_n_starscream.jpg

Voiced by: Krizz Kaliko (English)

A Predacon warrior and second-in-command to Predacon Megatron.
  • Adaptational Badass: Not that Dinobot wasn't already badass in the original cartoon but it was highly unlikely he could've taken on any G1 Decepticons, given the massive size and power difference between Decepticons and their Predacon descendents. Here, Dinobot's size is up to scale with most Decepticons. And he takes on Ravage, Laserbeak, Soundwave, and G1 Megatron in rapid succession. And he's winning.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. He's still the same noble warrior as he was in the original Beast Wars cartoon, but he remains as the Predacon second-in-command in Kingdom, and he ends up dying before he has a chance to become a Maximal, though he admits he was planning to anyways.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Predacon Megatron rips his left arm off just before Dinobot could deliver a killing blow to the original Megatron.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: His death scene is largely similar to what it was in the show but the manner in which it was reached differs. In the show, Dinobot fought his way through multiple Predacons, sustaining heavy injuries, and by the time he confronted Beast Wars Megatron, Megatron didn't contribute more than a backhand before Dinobot knocked him down and destroyed the disc. In this series, Dinobot fights his way through multiple Decepticons and wins in rapid succession but this time, it's the Predacon Megatron who ambushes him and gives him his heavy, fatal injuries.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He briefly appears at the end of Earthrise, watching the Ark crash, before his prominent role in Kingdom.
  • Honor Before Reason: A subtle example, but Dinobot could have ended his fight against Decepticon Megatron much faster, and presumably survived the experience it weren't for his honor code. Several times in the fight, he could have struck Megatron while his back was turned, or when Megatron's sword was caught in a tree. Each time he refused and waited for Megatron to face him before resuming his own attack. The only time he is willing to strike Megatron in the back was when the fight was seemingly already won. Unfortunately, by that time the other Megatron had caught up with him. This ends up costing Dinobot his life and only allows him to steal back the Matrix of Leadership rather than both it and the Golden Disc.
  • I'm Dying, Please Take My MacGuffin: He manages to steal the Matrix of Leadership from Megatron in his Last Stand, but is fatally injured by Predacon Megatron in the process. The matrix guides Optimus Prime to Dinobot, and Dinobot gives the matrix back to him.
  • Master Swordsman: He has a sword fight with Megatron and actually defeats him. He would've finished him off too if Predacon Megatron didn't suddenly maul him in his T-rex mode.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In his final moments he asks Primal if he would have accepted him into the Maximals if he defected. Primal says yes, although he adds that Dinobot would've made for a terrible Maximal.
    • He also recites his speech from "Code of Hero" word-for-word before making his Last Stand.
    • During his death, he bluntly calls Rattrap a "vermin" after the rat calls him "Chopper Face", in homage to the pairs Vitriolic Best Buds dialogue.
  • Unfit for Greatness: After he retrieves the Matrix of Leadership, he acknowledges that he is unworthy of it himself, stating he is not pure sparked or wise or heroic like the Primes. But he still begs it for help, saying he has at least tried to live as good a life as he could. The Matrix seems to respond to this, and guides Optimus Prime to Dinobot, allowing Dinobot to return the Matrix to him as a final heroic act.
  • Token Good Teammate: He is this for the Predacons. He is shown to be uncomfortable with their violence and methods and just wants to end the war with the Maximals as peacefully as possible.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: He taunts Megatron for his lack of restraint and discipline during their battle in episode 3.

    Blackarachnia

Blackarachnia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_kingdom_ep1_blackarachnia_meets_starscream.jpg

Voiced by: Jeanne Carr (English)

A duplicitous Predacon.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Played With. She is introduced as a Predacon from the start rather than as a reprogrammed Maximal protoform, even shown as taking part in the heist of the Golden Disk. She also does not defect to the Maximals despite opposing the Megatrons and only temporarily allies herself with the Maximals when the Nemesis attacks the downed Ark. One thing to keep in mind is that while she betrayed Megatron to save her own life, she ultimately defected to the Maximals for her lover, Silverbolt, who is not in this series.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Seems to be a true blue Predacon rather than a Maximal who was turned into a Predacon as her original incarnation was.
  • Adapted Out: Tarantulas' role in her creation and their partnership/rivalry is excised in this version, as Tarantulas is not present in Kingdom.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Although her sexuality is never explored in depth she makes a comment about Arcee being “cute”, replies to Air-Razor’s threats of violence with “I like it rough” and when Air-Razor catches her while falling during their Teeth-Clenched Teamwork moment kisses her on the cheek by way of thanks.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Kept from her original Beast Wars depiction. She creates a device that, combined with Megatron's Energon signature (extracted from his battle with Starscream), allows the Golden Disk's contents to be read by anyone. This breaks Starscream mentally when he steals said device and reads the disk, allowing Unicron to be aware of him and the events of Kingdom.
  • Mythology Gag: Is affected by an Allspark-induced illusion of a wolf, calling back to her original relationship with the wolf-bird Fuzor Silverbolt. She also reacts to this vision as if a beast is hunting her, possibly referencing her antagonistic relationship with Tarantulas who would try to hunt her down after he left the Predacons for his own enigmatic agenda.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Forms this with Starscream and later Dinobot and the Maximals, especially Airazor.
  • The Starscream: Fittingly with the Starscream and later Dinobot, working with them to thwart whatever the two Megatrons are planning.
    • Notably, she encourages Starscream to take a more proactive role in his treachery, fighting the original Megatron directly at multiple points in Kingdom.

Several Predacons who much like the "Decepticon" Scorponok from Earthrise seem to be a race of Predacons which all take on the beast form of a scorpion and serve as the infantry of the Predacon army.

  • Conservation of Ninjutsu: A single Scorponok (along with Astrotrain) gives Mirage and Rattrap some trouble during Airazor's rescue. A horde of them against Airazor and Blackarachnia, not so much.
  • Demoted to Extra: Unlike the original Beast Wars Scorponok who was Megatron's second in command, this one (or rather these ones) is a mass-produced race of Predacons who serve as low ranking soldiers. Aside from 2 scenes, they are barely present in the series.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: His alt-mode is a scorpion.
  • Dumb Muscle: At least the one who was fighting Rattrap is not the brightest Predacon. He easily falls for Mirage's deception despite the strange behavior "Astrotrain" was displaying, as well as the fact that Astrotrain's unconscious body was in direct view.
  • Mook: Serves as this to the Predacon faction.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. He's the second Scorponok in the series, after the Generation One iteration seen in Earthrise.
  • Scary Scorpions: His beast mode.

Other Characters

    Bumblebee

Bumblebee

"I'm... just trying to survive."

Voiced by: Joe Zieja (English), Ryōhei Kimura (Japanese), José Antonio Macías (Latin-American Spanish)

An unaligned Energon scavenger who works for whoever pays.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Far more here at the start of the series than in previous incarnations of the character, wanting little to do with the Autobot-Decepticon conflict.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Like with the 2019 IDW comics, he's portrayed as a much older and experienced bot rather than the young rookie he's depicted in most media's.
  • Apathetic Citizens: Refuses to help join the Autobot resistance who are dying and losing soldiers / Energon / fuel at a dangerously fast and lethal rate that even his membership would make all the difference.
  • The Chosen One: He was the one chosen by Alpha Trion to absorb the knowledge to help turn the tide in the war.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With the Autobots, and especially Optimus Prime.
  • Default to Good: Acquiring the Codes of Alpha Trion makes him side with the Autobots (mainly because he just tried dumping all that "unnecessary" knowledge onto Optimus).
  • I Work Alone: He is (or was) very adamant about this, making Soundblaster confused when he brought along Arcee and Cog for a task as mundane as trading Energon. Bumblebee claimed they're "apprentices".
  • Neutral No Longer: By Earthrise, Bumblebee officially joins the Autobots, and begins bearing the Autobot insignia for good measure.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: He only got involved with the Autobots because Wheeljack hired him. Once that job is done, he's more than happy to walk away. That changes when he is chosen to be the keeper of Alpha Trion's secret protocols.
  • Street Urchin: The Cybertronian equivalent of this trope at the start of the series.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Earthrise shows him as a more benevolent and loyal team player to the Autobots than in Siege.
  • With Us or Against Us: Both Autobots and Decepticons push this trope on him. He ends up being categorized as an Autobot by both sides because he was seen assisting Wheeljack (though only for the money).
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: He's both ends of this trope. When he gripes about being the The Chosen One, Cog comforts him, believing if Ultra Magnus chooses him, then it means he is worthy. He later gives one to Optimus Prime, himself. When faced with Nemesis Prime, and Optimus voices his fears of becoming him, Bumblebee firmly states he could never become him.

    Omega Supreme

Omega Supreme

Voiced by: Keith Silverstein (English), Santos Alberto (Latin-American Spanish)

One of many Guardians, and the one who finally decides to take action after spending much of the war neutral.

  • Arm Cannon: Both his arms function as this.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When the Decepticons try to destroy the Skybridge to prevent the Autobots from escaping Cybertron in the Ark, he arrives to fight them.
  • Giant Equals Invincible: None of the Decepticons' attacks even scratch him.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Unlike the other Guardians, Omega Supreme actually takes a side in the war for Cybertron by helping the Autobots.
  • Neutral No Longer: The Guardians decided to sit out the war, but Optimus Prime's plea for support (especially his crack about what good were guardians who don't guard anything) motivates Omega Supreme to come to the Autobots' aid in the final battle of Season 1.
  • One-Man Army: He takes on many Decepticon troops with no difficulty.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After deciding to fight for the Autobots to allow them to escape into the Ark, he is conspicuously absent for the rest of the series (barring a cameo from Mirage’s hologram). It is later mentioned he went missing after Crystal City fell in Earthrise, but it is unclear whether he is dead or not.

    Deeseeus

Deeseeus

Voiced by: Jolene Andersen (Wrath), Keith Silverstein (Death), Linsay Rousseau (Doubt), Jay Sanford (Wit), Joseph Noughton (Wisdom) (English)

The contractor for the Mercenaries, a Quintesson who seeks revenge for their kind's banishment from Cybertron after the Autobots and Decepticons rebelled.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: The phrasing is a massive stretch, but normally Quintessons are universally hostile towards Cybertronians and will do whatever it takes to engineer their destruction unless there are galaxy-ending threats at play, even considering the idea that being innocent could avert their fate as a joke. Deeseeus, however, can't bring themselves to execute prisoners when presented with other options to utilize them.
  • Alien Gender Confusion: Referred to by "he" pronouns but also has female voices for two of his faces.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Deeseeus and Megatron are the main antagonists of Earthrise.
  • Combat Tentacles: Can utilize their limbs to hold weapons, as well as having barbs that allow them to pierce metal with ease.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: A big deal is made about how he helped the Cybertronians rebel against their Quintesson masters, and he seems to be conflicted about if he should kill them or not in the present. Then the Wrath face slices off the other faces and is decided on having Optimus and his crew dead.
  • Mind Rape: Their tentacles have a neural interface that lets them use Cybertronians like ventriloquism dummies.
  • Split Personality: Like all Quintesson Judges, Deeseeus has five distinct personalities that represent their own motives; Wrath, Wisdom, Wit, Doubt, and Death
  • Split-Personality Takeover: After hesitating to kill the Autobots aboard the Ark due to a lack of focus on whether that would yield ideal results or not, Deeseeus's Wrath grows sick of sharing the body, and decides to have their other four faces sliced off.

    Scorponok

Scorponok

Voiced by: Michael Dunn (English)

The last of a group of Quintesson slaves in the Nebulon sector, who broke loose and began tearing apart anything remotely resembling Quintesson technology.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Scorponok is usually portrayed as either an Evil Overlord plotting to usurp any other commanders in his vicinity, or a stupid brute who does whatever his superiors say. Here, both are consolidated as him being a victim of the Quintessons, forced to do as he was told until they slaughtered his family. He proceeded to destroy all Quintesson presence on Nebulon Station and never looked back.
  • Angrish: Combined with Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness in his scorpion mode; He's so incensed by the presence of a threat that he can only scream insults that are shockingly verbose for a berserker.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Scorponok's time of being forced to fight as a gladiator by the Quintessons has made him go psychologically insane.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Can transform into a titanic scorpion, dwarfing other Transformers.
  • Fantastic Racism: Despite being a Transformer himself, he displays contempt and discrimination against the Cybertronians smaller than he is as he feels they played some role in building the Quintesson Empire.
  • Humongous Mecha: Dwarfs the other Transformers.
  • Last of His Kind: Refers to himself as "the last Scorponok".
  • Not So Similar: Pulls this on Megatron to highlight that while they both have similar origins, Scorponok was content with stopping at killing his oppressors, while Megatron kept generalizing what "oppressor" meant until he was the one committing genocide and became no different from a Quintesson.
  • Scary Scorpions: Even moreso than his live-action movie counterpart. He's humongous, fast and relentless at killing. Whatever the Transformer throw at him from gunfire to grenades don't work, and only evade him through using an anti-gravity switch.
  • Unstoppable Rage: When confronting those he sees as tyrants, he cannot and will not stop until they are disposed of.

    Autobot Dead Universe Resident (SPOILERS)

Sky Lynx

Voiced by: Sean Wright (English), Aruno Tahara (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sky.png
A powerful Autobot warrior who was banished to the Dead Universe by Alpha Trion for his hubris.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: While Sky Lynx has always been smug and prideful, this time it got out of control and led him to assume he was the Matrix's true bearer due to his sheer might. In the end, it leaves him to be banished to the Dead Universe, and when he's found again, he's shown possessing a sober humility for the first time in the character's history.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Compared to the egotistical version from the original cartoon, this Sky-Lynx is far more humble from having spent years in the Dead Universe as punishment for trying to steal the Matrix for himself. Rather than brag about how great he is, he feels he must make up for his mistakes.
  • And I Must Scream: Subverted; While Sky Lynx was trapped in a void with nothing but himself, this gave him time enough to reflect on his actions and discern the true nature of the Dead Universe brings thought into reality. As a result, he spent a lot of his time meditating until The Ark appears in the Dead Universe alongside him.
  • The Atoner: Seeks to make amends for his pride, at first by serving under Optimus, and in the end via Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Break the Haughty: Being sealed in a void with only his own mind to keep him company gave him a lot of time to reflect on himself.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Throws himself in the way of Megatron's attack to ensure the Ark can escape.
  • The Mentor: To Optimus on how to escape the Dead Universe.

    Future Decepticon Warlord (SPOILERS)

Galvatron

Voiced by: Jason Marnocha (English), Ryūzaburō Ōtomo (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_trilogy_galvatron.png
A time-displaced Decepticon warlord sent by Unicron to the Dead Universe, in order to convince Megatron to destroy the Matrix of Leadership.
  • Actor Allusion: In the Japanese dub, This is not the first time Ryuzaburo Otomo voiced Galvatron.
  • Adaptational Villainy: G1 Galvatron did not want Unicron to destroy Cybertron and even fought Unicron to protect it in the 1986 film. This Galvatron is perfectly willing to sacrifice Cybertron just so he can use the planet's life force, the AllSpark, to destroy his master and get his freedom back even if he has no home to return to.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: He and Nemesis become this in the final episode, working together and waging a final battle to claim the Allspark.
  • Composite Character: He has the appearance and (sorta) the origin of G1 Galvatron, his time-travel plot, calmer and more scheming demeanor, obsession with destiny, and silky voice is more like Beast Wars Megatron.
  • Eviler than Thou: He quickly becomes this to Megatron in the final episode of Kingdom, where he reveals he's perfectly fine with sacrificing Cybertron if it means being free, something which Megatron was disgusted with.
  • Future Badass: Meant to be this for Megatron in Unicron's plans. Galvatron himself, however, tries to invoke Future Me Scares Me instead.
  • Gone Horribly Right: His attempts to make Megatron the master of his own destiny in order to escape his own servitude to Unicron backfires spectacularly when Megatron decides he isn't too fond of Galvatron trying to control him either. In the final episode, Megatron finally turns on him and comments that if he can't find a way to stop Unicron himself, he'll willingly submit to him by choice if they fail, both to give him some level of control over his destiny, and so that Galvatron would know that Megatron actively orchestrated his misery out of spite for trying to control him.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He becomes this in Kingdom where it's revealed he'd been a constant threat to the Maximals and Predacons. He's also responsible for the Beast Wars happening, having the Predacon Megatron stealing the Golden Disk, resulting in both factions going back in time to prehistoric earth to deliver the Golden Disk to his past self.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: His and Nemesis' goal is to try and prevent Unicron from enslaving them, wanting to control their own destiny.
  • Lack of Empathy: He doesn't give a scrap about anyone. All that matters to him is destroying Unicron and securing his destiny, even if it means leaving Cybertron to ruins.
  • Made a Slave: By Unicron; trying to prevent this is why he tries to get Megatron to change the course of history.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After Galvatron notices that the Dead Universe prevents Unicron from directly interfering with his actions, he begins to teach Megatron about what the Matrix can be used for.
  • Mythology Gag: He isn't exactly the first time-displaced Galvatron, whom also co-exists with Megatron. That honor goes to the version seen in the United Kingdom's Marvel Comic story, which saw Galvatron travel back in time with Scourge and Cyclonus to 1984.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Galvatron spends the entire series trying to get Megatron to destroy Unicron so neither of them becomes enslaved to the Chaos Bringer. At the end of it, Megatron has enough of Galvatron's manipulations and decides to not only pull an Enemy Mine with Prime, but he plans to willingly submit to Unicron so he can both control his own fate and spite Galvatron at the same time.
  • The Power of Hate: He tries to teach Megatron how to focus his anger instead of letting it lash out wildly, focusing on his hatred for Optimus Prime.
  • Reforged into a Minion: He's turned into Galvatron by Unicron to serve him.
  • Uncertain Doom: He and Nemesis are dragged into Unicron's maw to be reformatted once again—or possibly killed.

    "Nemesis" (SPOILERS)

Nemesis Prime

Voiced by: Jake Foushee (English), Taiten Kusunoki (Japanese)

Optimus Prime's future self, having become a servant of Unicron.

    Future Master (SPOILERS)

Unicron

Voiced by: Jonathan Lipow (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wfc_kingdom_ep6_unicron_wakey_wakey.jpg
A planet-sized Transformer that devours worlds and their inhabitants.
  • The Dreaded: Though he's only seen briefly, he terrifies Galvatron enough that he travels back in time to try and get his younger self powerful enough to face him. When Unicron finds out, all Galvatron can do is react in horror as he's pulled back to the future so he can be appropriately punished.
    • His mere existence terrifies Starscream so much that he almost immediately abandons his ambitions to kill Megatron and usurp his role and actually tries to forge peace with the Autobots, despite his bigotry towards them. Unicron scares him that much that he remains in a state of O.O.C. Is Serious Business for the rest of the season.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: When Starscream listens to the recording of Unicron enslaving Megatron on the Golden Disc, Unicron soon starts talking to Starscream through the recording.
Unicron: Starscream... (Starscream gasps in shock) Starscream... I know you're there. I know everything.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: All we know about him is his name, that he is a destroyer of worlds, and turned future versions of Optimus and Megatron into his slaves.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: In the future, he has enslaved Megatron and Optimus and converted them into Galvatron and Nemesis Prime, respectively. This prompts Galvatron to travel back in time to make his younger self take the Matrix of Leadership from Optimus so as to kill Unicron and avoid becoming enslaved to him. As the Autobots escaped the Dead Universe, Galvatron was pulled back by a very angry Unicron who vowed to torture him as punishment for trying to backstab him.
  • Mechanical Abomination: On top of his usual status as a giant transforming planet, he can now see across various timelines and speak directly or control others.
  • The Omniscient: Across every timeline he's in, and within any point in a single timeline, he has one singular consciousness. If Unicron knows something, he has always known it and will always remember it. And while he can't travel through time himself, this allows him to set up multiple contingencies in advance keeping what he knows in mind.
  • The Tape Knew You Would Say That: Played for horror; When Starscream sees footage of Megatron being tortured and converted into Galvatron, he goes nearly catatonic after Unicron begins speaking to him, having used the Golden Disc as Megatron was recording it to leave Starscream a message after seeing that he would find a way to open it. He goes as far as to leave precise instructions to him on how to earn his safety as Unicron's Herald.
  • Time Abyss: Megatron states plainly that he is older than all recorded history, and due to his abilities described under The Omniscient, he has several universal histories worth of experiences.
  • Unseen Evil: The only look we get of him are his maw and horns in the picture above. His whole planet form is never in a clear shot and he never transforms into his robot mode.
