Altador

    King Altador
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kingaltador_10.gif
Voiced by: James Arnold Taylor (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)
The King of Altador, it is named after him.
  • Founder of the Kingdom: He founded Altador.
  • The Good King: King Altador rules a land that was among the most cherished in Neopia before its disappearance, and continues to be adored long after its rediscovery.
  • The High King
  • Humble Hero: When the twelve founders were deciding the name of their new city, everyone suggested that it should be named after Altador, except Altador himself.
  • Lord Country: King Altador, of Altador. Notably, he did not name it after himself. Rather, there was a poll among the Twelve Heroes to decide the country's name, and everyone except Altador himself chose his name for it.
  • Noble Wolf: He is a White Lupe, and is a noble and just king who rules over a Shining City.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: During The Faeries' Ruin, he arms himself and seeks to find out the cause of the faeries' petrification instead of staying behind in Altador.
  • Start My Own: He came from a city ruled by the corrupt and set out to find a new city for his people to live in once he was old enough, only to find more cities ruled by the corrupt wherever he went. Eventually, he found a place he noted would be perfect for a city, and the rest is history.

    Jerdana
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jerdana16.gif
Voiced by: Olivia d'Abo (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)
A sorceress and one of the twelve founders of Altador. She created the time-bubble that kept the land hidden for a thousand years.
  • Badass in Distress: The TCG card "Jerdana, Imprisoned" shows her in jail and apparently suffering from amnesia.
A city in peril...heroes in danger...growing darkness...her memories were fading fast.
  • Benevolent Mage Ruler: She is a sorceress who is part of the council that rules over Altador.
  • Blue Is Heroic: She is a blue Aisha (and her dress has some blue on it) on the side of good.
  • Court Mage: A spellcaster who is an advisor to King Altador and co-ruler.

    Fauna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/contestant650.gif
Voiced by: Claudia Black (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)
One of the twelve protectors of Altador, this Acara is known for her gentleness and how she cares for Petpets.

    Gordos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/660_treasurer_gordos.gif
Voiced by: Keith Ferguson (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)
The tax collector of Altador. He was chosen by King Altador for his honesty in collecting taxes.
  • Condescending Compassion: In a random event, he may comment that you have a pathetic stamp album and give you a rare, expensive stamp to fill it out.
  • Evil Debt Collector: Subverted as he is good, and is well-respected by the people of Altador.
  • Money Fetish: "He knows exactly how many coins there are. He just enjoys counting them."

    Tobias Sigmir and Hovri Sweet
The commentator duo who perform coverage for the Altador Cup.
  • Greek Chorus: Serve this role during the Altador Cup, providing commentary on the teams and game events before and after each Yooyuball match.
  • Rags to Riches: Hovri started out as beggar looking to get money for tickets to the Altador Cup (not realizing they were free), but was eventually scouted by Tobias and became his partner in commentary on the event.

Brightvale

    King Hagan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2242.gif
Voiced by: Dwight Schultz (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)
The wise, knowledgeable king of Brightvale.

Faerieland

    Queen Fyora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fyora8.gif
Voiced by: Anne Wilde (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)

Queen of the Faeries.

    Jhudora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jhudora9.gif
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Her skin is a pale lilac color.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Illusen. She will ban you from her quests for 12 hours if you've already done one for Illusen.
  • The Cynic: Illusen may be idealistic, but Jhudora thinks that's silly.
  • Dark Is Evil: She is evil and a dark faerie.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She and Illusen were put in charge of the Faerie Festival in 2023. Since they hate each other, they each decided to throw their own version of the Festival.
  • Fetch Quest: She sends players to fetch items for her.
  • The Fair Folk: She's a faerie, and pretty malevolent even by the standards of Dark Faeries.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: According to the TCG, she has two vicious Gruslens as bodyguards named Sarah and Daisy.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Borders between this and The Only One Allowed to Defeat You. She saves Illusen from Balthazar while stating she is the only one allowed to destroy her.
  • It's All About Me: She thinks she is the best faerie.
  • Mysterious Purple: While "Dark Faeries" come in a range of dark colors from midnight blue to black, the one most associated with purple is Jhudora, who lives on top of a purple cloud, wears a purple and green dress, and has vibrant purple eyes, among other things. Her actual villainous acts are never specified, and the only faerie who might know about them hasn't spilled. It's believed that many unfortunate events in Neopia are her doing, but this has never been confirmed.
  • Nominal Hero: During the 2023 Faerie Festival, she works together with Illusen (though not without a lot of bickering) to clean up the pollution of Neopia. She even saves Illusen from being bottled by Balthazar.
  • Noodle Incident: Why is she enemies with Illusen?
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The citizens of Neopia are terrified of her, not because of what she's done, but because of the fact that she hasn't actually done anything evil yet, which is very abnormal for a dark faerie as powerful as her.
  • Pet the Dog: Jhudora may be nasty, but she gives you some pretty handsome rewards for completing her quests. Complete a Level 50 quest for her and she will give you the Wand of the Dark Faerie, which is one of the strongest weapons in the game.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: It's not usually apparent since she always wears a long dress, but some official art, such as the cover of the Neopets Tarot Deck, shows that she doesn't wear shoes.
  • Poison Is Evil: She presents Poisonous Lollypops as awards for quests, and there's a Random Event where she'll give you one of six items, all of which have "Poison" in their name.
  • The Rival: To Illusen.
  • Sickly Green Glow: She is often surrounded by dark green smoke.
  • Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!: She says that the happy stuff Illusen does is silly and frivolous.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Defied. During 2023's Faerie Festival, she is ordered by Queen Fyora to work with Illusen to put the festival together. However, the two are unable to come to any form of agreement and instead decide to hold their own separate festivals far apart from one another.
  • Too Good to Be True: She promises "rewards beyond your wildest dreams".
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Jhudora's Favourite Pie, a purple and green pie emitting a neon green smoke.
Description: It is oddly coloured but it probably tastes good... right?
  • Tsundere: Shows shades of being one towards Illusen during the 2023 Faerie Festival.
Malkus Vile: A little Weewoo told me that Illusen started weakening right around the same time the pollution began spreading. It seems the smog choking the Neopia air and clouding the forests has been affecting all of the Earth and Water Faeries. She's vulnerable, and… if you wanted, could be out of your way for good.
Jhudora: The pollution… Vulnerable? No. No, I couldn't. Part of me does still hate her for what she did to me, but I couldn't do that…uh, not while she is in such a pathetic state, that is!
  • Villains Out Shopping: A 2006 Advent Calendar animation shows her baking heart-shaped cookies during Christmas with her pet Bartamus.
  • You Have Failed Me: Her Neopedia article shows her doing...something...to a Kacheek who was five seconds late with her requested item.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rainbowfountain18.gif
  • The Eeyore: When you're not on a quest and visit the Rainbow Pool, she'll be looking dejected and saying things like "Oh no, my beautiful magic is gone :("
  • Fetch Quest: She sometimes sends you one these, but only if you're lucky.
  • Meaningful Name: Naia likely comes from naiad, which is a mythological water nymph.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Has a mermaid tail like all Water Faeries.

    Baelia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/greyfaerie.gif

  • Animal Lover: She seems to be fond of Petpets, as she always asks for them when giving you a Faerie Quest.
  • Broken Bird: She was imprisoned by an evil Dark Faerie named Jennumara who stripped her of her powers. As a result, she has become very pessimistic.
  • The Eeyore: She is constantly depressed.
  • Fetch Quest: She can send you on a Faerie Quest, and always asks for Petpets rarity 69 and under. Since she has no magic of her own to reward you with, she will ask a random Faerie to bless you instead.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: This usually accompanies her.
  • Little Bit Beastly: For unknown reasons, she has a pair of antennae, which no other Faerie has.
  • Pauper Patches: Her dress is adorned with those.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: During the Wraith Resurgence plot in 2018, she got to run the Hidden Tower after Fyora fell ill.

The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2023_10_05_at_84715_pm.png
  • The Eeyore: Due to having been abandoned, he always looks sad.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It is a mystery who he belonged to before he was...well, discarded.
  • Tragic Abandoned Toy: He is a Grundo plushie that was abandoned by someone and left all alone in Faerieland. Sometimes, visiting him can lower your pet's mood because they feel bad for him.
  • When He Smiles: He usually looks very sad, but during the month of December, he can be seen wearing a scarf and smiling.

Haunted Woods

    Edna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/contestant120.gif
A Zafara witch who doles out quests. Originally she was human before falling into her cauldron and becoming a Neopet.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She is a witch, who resides in the Haunted Woods and can be pretty creepy, but she's not evil.
  • Eye of Newt: Her potion ingredients can be anything, from food to board games.
  • Fetch Quest: She sometimes sends users on quests to fetch potion ingredients.
  • Power Incontinence: Apparently she accidentally turned some Feepits into Feepit Pie once.

    Esophagor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/contestant88.gif

    Brain Tree
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/braintree.gif
A tree with a huge, pulsating brain. He yearns for knowledge, and will send users off on quests to give him the information he needs.
  • Fetch Quest: He will ask those who accept his quests for the date and place a Neopet died. To get this information, one must complete two Esophagor quests.
  • My Brain Is Big: He's called the Brain Tree for a reason.
  • Sealed Evil in a Duel: He has long been engaged in battle with the Beast that lurks behind him. The reason he constantly fights it is to keep Neopia safe from it.
  • Wise Tree: He is one, though he will ask others to give him information rather than doling it out himself. Once they do, he will reward them.

    Balthazar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/balthazar_7.png
A Lupe bounty hunter who traps Faeries in bottles and then sells them.
  • Bounty Hunter: His targets are the Faeries.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: He is asked to help the petrified Faeries by a young Ixi during The Faeries' Ruin, but when the situation is explained to him and he sees for himself what happened, he is thrilled rather than concerned. Then he goes home to free the Faeries he has bottled (knowing that once they're released, they too will be turned to stone).
  • Freudian Excuse: He was abandoned by his family as a child. After crawling through the woods, hungry and thirsty, he came across some Dark Faeries whom he asked to aid him. Instead, they cruelly mocked him and threw stones and twigs at him. That's why he now hates all Faeries.

    MAGAX
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/637.gif
This Wocky once served Hubrid Nox and committed many vile acts for him. Now repentant, he has turned against Nox and they have become sworn enemies.
  • All There in the Manual: The Neopedia article on the Brute Squad reveals he's now a member of the group.
  • Antagonist in Mourning: Despite the serious nature of their conflict, MAGAX has been shown to truly mourn the loss of Hubrid Nox.
  • Anti-Hero: A former villain trying to atone for his crimes.
  • The Atoner: He regrets the evil he did in the past, and so fights to protect Neopia from Hubrid Nox.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As the minion of Nox. Apparently he's done something so terrible that the Faeries won't forgive him for it.
  • Friendly Enemy: He and Nox are sometimes depicted this way, especially in Advent Calendar animations.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He was once evil and a minion of Hubrid Nox, but has since changed his ways.
  • Reformed, but Rejected:
"You still seek redemption for your past?" Nox said, his form all but lost in the storm clouds. "Don't you know there is no forgiveness for you, Magax? The Faeries will never forgive the crimes you committed against them."
"Perhaps," Magax said, readying his weapon. "But, I have to try."
  • Rugged Scar: He has one over his eye.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Before turning against him, MAGAX was Nox's minion.

    Hubrid Nox
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/724.gif
A Chia warlock who is the Arch-Enemy of MAGAX. He was Killed Off for Real during The Faeries' Ruin plot, so all subsequent appearances are of his ghost.

    Eliv Thade
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1625.gif
The ghost of a Kacheek who delights in anagrams. Being given one he was unable to solve is what drove him mad.
  • Delighting in Riddles: Anagrams are his life... or rather, afterlife.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: He's the crazed spirit of a puzzle maker.
  • Riddle Me This: In The Castle of Eliv Thade game, the only way you can escape is by solving the anagrams he presents you with.
  • Sanity Slippage: This happened to him when a servant presented him with a puzzle he could not solve.
  • Significant Anagram: The letters of his name can be rearranged to read 'evil death' or 'vile death'.

    Princess Vyssa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vyssa_crown.gif
King Coltzan III's youngest daughter, who ruled Sakhmet in the absence of her older sister, Princess Amira.
  • Demoted to Extra: Formerly an important Lost Desert character who played a major role in both the Usurper and Search for the Crown plots, Vyssa faded into the background after her elder sister Amira was introduced.
  • King Incognito: When she wants to get away from all the palace intrigue.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Does her best to understand the lives of average citizens so she can be one.

Voiced by: Charlie Schlatter (Neopets: The Darkest Faerie)

  • Blatant Burglar: Their outfits make their status as thieves incredibly obvious.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Meerouladen wears blue, while Heermeedjet wears red.
  • Evil Duo: Two brothers who work together as thieves.
  • Promoted to Playable: In 2006, they received their own game, The Great Qasalan Caper, where they try to steal a hundred golden statues of Nabile from the royal treasury.
  • Thief Bag: Often they are shown with one.
  • Trickster Twins: They are siblings who are identical enough that it is likely they are twins, and they're certainly mischievous.
  • Villain Protagonist: They're the playable characters in The Great Qasalan Caper, where they rob the Qasalan Royal Treasury.

    Malkus Vile
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/logic_guest5.gif

Meridell

    Clop
The first opponent in Cellblock. A Darigan Moehog who is a prisoner in the Darigan dungeons.
  • Once for Yes, Twice for No: His only method of communication is banging his hooves on the floor. The other prisoners think that one means yes, two means no, and three means he's hungry, but they have no idea what four and five mean.
  • Noodle Incident: It is not known why he was imprisoned.
  • The Voiceless: As detailed above, he is mute and communicates by banging his hooves on the floor.

Mystery Island

     Ghost Lupe
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ghostlupe.gif
  • Our Ghosts Are Different
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: He seems like a villain, but can do good in Random Events.
  • Revenge: He seeks revenge for his death, and likely that of his bride as well.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: The Ghost Lupe was in life a knight named Sylva. He died attempting to rescue his bride from the natives of Mystery Island. Apparently, she did not survive either.

    Jhuidah the Island Faerie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jhuidah10.gif

    Tiki Tack Man
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tikitackman21.gif
A humanoid man who runs the Tombola on Mystery Island, as well as a souvenir shop. He is never seen without his mask, and as there are (supposedly) no humans in Neopia, it's unclear what he is.
  • Ambiguously Brown
  • Ambiguously Human: While his facial features are obscured, physically there's nothing to suggest that he's anything other than a human man. However, this would make him an exception to the rule that there are no human characters in Neopia (the odd caricatured staff member notwithstanding) and theories have ranged from him being a male faerie (also unprecedented) to a very humanoid Neopet such as a Grundo or a Mynci.
  • The Artifact: His (apparent) humanity is a bit of remnant Early-Installment Weirdness from a time when some of the site's NPCs were human; while most were changed to known pet species, the Tiki Tack Man remained as-is.
  • The Faceless: His face is never shown.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: Subverted, as he is not a tourist.

Tropical fruits and fishy delights straight from the isle of wonders!!
A Techo who sells the player the tropical fruits native to Mystery Island and more.
  • Do You Want to Haggle?: Like all of the other shopkeepers, you may haggle prices with him, but you may anger him and he can temporarily ban you from his store.
  • Meaningful Name: As his official name is the Tropical Food Shopkeeper and doesn't have a conventional name, it falls under this.
  • Witch Doctor: While not exactly one, the original filename for his image was titled "withdoctor.gif".

    Ryshu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/judo5.gif
One of the four guardians of the Mystery Island Training School. He has trained extensively with the Techo Master, and as a result has become a skilled fighter.

    Woogy and Jimmi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2023_12_15_at_21956_pm.png
Two Hasees who live on Mystery Island and spend their days gathering Doughnutfruits.
  • Big Eater: Hasee Bounce is a game all about helping them bounce up and down on their homemade seesaw to catch as many flying Doughnutfruits as they can.
  • Lost Food Grievance: If you finish a game of Hasee Bounce with less than 100 points, Woogy and Jimmi will be crying on the ending screen, as they didn't get enough Doughnutfruit.
  • Palette Swap: Woogy is orange with purple stripes, and Jimmi is purple with orange stripes.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: They love Doughnutfruits, a sweet doughnut-shaped fruit that grows in the trees of Mystery Island.
  • Waddling Head: They're little, adorable, round creatures who love eating Doughnutfruits.

Neopia Central

    Dr Death
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/191.gif
The overseer of the Neopian Pound
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While the room he works in is dark with lots of spiders in, and his name is Dr Death, he actually takes good care of the ownerless pets.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses: According to his backstory on Neopedia, he was a kind-hearted Animal Lover who ended up in his current role at the pound after earning his medical degree and setting out to make a positive difference in the world. Years of watching innocent Neopets abandoned by their owners made him the embittered soul he is today.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • Nice Guy: Despite his grumpy exterior, he is actually this.
  • Younger Than They Look: Neopedia lists his age as simply "[n]ot anywhere near as old as he looks."

    Pound Uni and Pound Hissi
The other pound workers. The Uni works at the Adopt door and the Hissi works at the Transfer door.

    Soup Faerie
A kindly Faerie who runs the Soup Kitchen.
  • Fetch Quest: Like the other Faeries, she can send you on a quest. She always asks for smoothies rarity 69 and under, and will give your active pet 2 points in 2 of its stats as a reward.
  • Iconic Item: Her wooden spoon and cooking pot.
  • Nice Girl: Possibly the kindest of the faeries, she dedicates her life's work to making sure that Neopia's poor have enough to eat.
  • One-Note Cook: All she makes is soup, day in and day out. However, a TCG card shows her making pancakes for a hungry pet after she runs out of soup.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Her real name is not known.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her usual outfit includes a pink shirt.
  • Supreme Chef: Her soup tastes so good that rich Neopians sometimes try to pass themselves off as poor to get a taste of it.
  • Taken for Granite: Like the other Faeries, she was turned to stone for the duration of The Faeries' Ruin in 2010.
  • Winged Humanoid: Of course she has wings, she is a Faerie, after all.

    Boochi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2023_08_26_at_21638_am.png

A strange Baby Bruce who goes around zapping other pets with his ray gun and turning them into babies.

  • Ambiguously Evil: Even according to his Neopedia article, it is hard to tell if Boochi is good or evil. Is he evil, because he can zap your painted pet into a baby and ruin their expensive paint job? Or is he good, because he can give you the baby pet you want for free and save you a trip to the Hidden Tower to buy an expensive Baby Paint Brush?
  • Art Evolution: Boochi's first design had him only wearing a bowtie. After being redrawn, he now wears a sailor outfit.
  • Badass Adorable: Downplayed. While he can be fought in the Battledome, he is a fairly low-level challenger; even on the hard level setting, he is only level 24.
  • Brainy Baby: He can speak in complete sentences, despite being only a baby.
  • Evil Laugh: According to the Neopedia, he has a "Bwahahaaa" that is both evil and adorable.
  • Fountain of Youth: Any pet zapped by his ray gun will have their color changed to Baby.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: After the color-changing Random Events were removed or disabled in 2014, Boochi can no longer zap your pet into a baby. While he can still fire at you, he will always miss.
  • Older Than They Look: He looks like a baby, but his Neopedia article reveals that he's 17.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Who created his ray gun, and why does he go around zapping pets into babies? We may never know.

    MSPP (Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_8875.gif
Sentient poogle plush toys that should not be left alone with your pets at night.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: All poogles wearing the Nostalgic MSP Poogle stylenote  have their blue patch on the right of their torso and left hind leg colored blue instead of the opposite like they normally have.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Despite their malicious appearance, a TCG card of one considers it as a Hero and MSPPs in general are excluded from the Gallery of Evil, thus bordering them onto either Creepy Good or Dark Is Not Evil. Furthermore, all poogles painted MSP can act friendly to their owners when interacted. Whether MSPPs are really evil or just innocent beings that are misunderstood is left up in the air.
  • Anthropomorphic Zig-Zag: Before the customization update, if a poogle is colored MSP, they will stand on their hind legs. However, since the aforementioned update, any poogle colored MSP stand on all fours, thus giving them the same stock pose that most poogle colors have. Despite this, it is still possible to have them stand on their hind legs again through a NC pet style at any time at the cost of not being able to customize them.note
  • Creepy Doll: Downplayed due to their Ambiguously Evil nature, but the fact that they have large red eyes and Scary Teeth makes them look very creepy. It is even advised that one should never be left alone with your neopets. Ever.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Implied. While they do appear and act malicious, the TCG card for the MSPP lists one as a "hero", indicating that they may not be really evil after all. But who knows?
  • Evil Counterpart: Downplayed, but MSPPs are the more malicious counterpart to an ordinary poogle plushie, and, by extension, plushie-colored poogles. However, it is still unclear how evil they truly are.
  • Living Toys: Due to their sentient nature, they can make noises, and can even walk on their hind legs. Players can even paint their poogles the MSP color (which is exclusive to them) via the lab ray or transform any pet into an MSP poogle by having them play an extremely rare magical plushie.

Roo Island

    King Roo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kingroo12.gif
The kindly king of Roo Island who loves playing Dice-a-Roo.
  • Authority in Name Only: It's implied that he spends all of his time playing Dice-a-Roo while his chancellor Advisor Broo actually runs the kingdom.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": His name is King Roo, and he's a Blumaroo.

    Abigail Avinroo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/128_abigail.gif

Also known as Chadley. This Zafara is a popular and egotistical classmate of AAA. His smile was rated as Neopia's Most Charming by the Neopian Times for three years running. He hosted Daily Dare while AAA was away at camp.
  • Brainless Beauty: In spite of his Neopedia article saying his IQ is "brilliant, just like his smile", he really doesn't seem all that bright. For one thing, he's blissfully unaware that other characters are sick of him.

The eldest daughter of the Emperor of Shenkuu. She was sad and lonely, in spite of the efforts of her Petpet Kazeriu to cheer her up. Her sister, Terrana, thought pretending to be kidnapped would be a good way to bring some excitement to her life.

Princess Terrana

    Adee
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/contestant323.gif
  • Acid Reflux Nightmare: The plot of the game Ice Cream Machine is that she's having one after eating way too much ice cream, where she has to dodge flying ice cream scoops.
  • Art Evolution: In Ice Cream Factory, Adee didn't wear clothes and looked no different than any other yellow Chia. When Ice Cream Machine was released, she was given a unique design—she now wears a snowsuit, hat, and shoes, and has orange hair styled in pigtails.
  • Big Eater: It is shown that she eats a lot of ice cream.
  • Covered in Gunge: In Ice Cream Machine, this happens to her if she gets hit by an ice cream scoop, so keep her out of the way!

  • An Ice Person: He is a huge ice wyrm that can fire icy blasts.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Hence why he sleeps in a big cave.

  • Dragon Hoard: He guards a gigantic pile of treasure in his cave, which users can try to steal from when he's asleep.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Where did all the treasure in his cave come from??
  • Promoted to Playable: Received his own Flash game in 2010, Wrath of the Snowager, where the player controls him trying to get his loot back from a thieving Chia.

    Chia Thief
  • Too Dumb to Live: Instead of doing something sensible when the Snowager comes after him like hide in a building or leave Terror Mountain, he just tries to evade him by running around and around in circles.

    Reina

Tyrannia

    Kyruggi
  • Action Girl: "Just because Grarrg is the Battle Master doesn't mean I don't know how to put up a fight. Why do you think Grarrg is second in command anyway?"
  • The Artifact: Originally described as a "Tyrannian Kyrii", Kyriis could not be painted Tyrannian at the time. Even though they have since become able to, they look nothing like her, and her appearance remains unchanged.

    Sabre-X
  • Anthropomorphic Shift: His Neopedia entry and the Omelette page both still use his old design, a moldy-green Lupe with tusks and stegosaurus-like plates. More recent images of him instead show a hulking Wolf Man with those features.

    Tyran-Far

    Mira the Space Faerie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/950.gif
  • Action Girl: She is a heroic Faerie who protects Neopia from danger, and has the strength to back it up. Her Easy difficulty in the Battledome is 450, and her Hard difficulty is 18,000.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Mira is one of the few Faeries to have light brown skin, but she cannot really be said to have a race, as she is not human.
  • Badass in Distress: During the Arrival of Virtupets plot in 2000, Mira was defeated and imprisoned by Dr. Sloth. She sent a plea to players to free her by adopting his enslaved Grundos. Only after 20,000 Grundos were adopted was she able to regain her strength and break out.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: The Space Faerie's first design was drastically different from her current one, as she had pale grey skin, bluish-purple hair, and wore a simple black leotard. She was later redesigned with blue hair, an Ambiguously Brown skin tone, and an outfit consisting of a blue leotard with red patterns and star-spangled tights.
  • Given Name Reveal: For a long time, she was only known as the Space Faerie. The "About the Faeries" page finally revealed that her name is Mira.
  • Mascot: She is the mascot of Neopets Premium. Premium users receive the Premium Space Faerie avatar and theme and the Lucky Space Faerie Charm, and can receive exclusive Space Faerie quests.
  • Telepath: Communicates this way when she needs help with something.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: She has a sci-fi type outfit and telepathic powers, and is a Faerie.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Averted; normally characters in Neopia play it straight, but she's the exception.
  • Space "X": She is called the Space Faerie.

    Dr. Frank Sloth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sloth10.gif
One of the most powerful villains in Neopia, Dr. Sloth enslaved the Grundo race and planned to turn all the Neopets into mutants.
  • Berserk Button: He hates being called a Neopet. From issue #402 of the Neopian Times:
nativity1213: Question: exactly WHAT species is Dr. Sloth supposed to be?!?
TNT: Dr. Sloth isn't a Neopet, and is greatly angered by your slander. Expect a visit from him and his ray gun soon.
  • Big Bad: Of several plots, and he continues to be an ominous presence in the world of Neopia.
  • Cartoon Creature: His species is unknown, but he is not a Neopet and he does not like being mistaken for one.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Actually, he does go into "legitimate" business when not the focus of a plot. He's the prime source of almost all of Neopia's high-level technology.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Does not like being called Frank.
  • Evil Wears Black: His cloak is black and he is a villain.
  • High Collar of Doom: His outfit sports one, to look all the more villainous.
  • Kick the Dog: There are two different random events where he can fire his ray gun at you to turn one of your items into a pile of sludge or have his associates steal 20% of your Neopoints to support his latest scheme.
  • Pet the Dog: On the other hand, two other random events exist where he can give you an avatar of himself or a free Transmogrification Potion, which is incredibly valuable.
A mad cackle echos around you before Dr. Sloth appears! "The price for this (random Transmogrification Potion) is merely your unquestioning loyalty." You take the potion. He didn't mean that, right?
  • Really 700 Years Old: If this this Neopedia article is to be believed, he's at least 2,000 years old.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning
  • Take Over the World: His ultimate goal is to take over all of Neopia.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: His first name is the not-very-intimidating Frank.
  • The Rival: He is the nemesis of Mira, the Space Faerie.

    Florg
A Mutant Chia who developed an appetite for Petpets after being experimented on by Dr. Sloth.
  • Big Eater: He loves eating Petpets, and is the star of the game Feed Florg.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to the intro text for Feed Florg, he thinks "Slorgs are yuck." However, he'll still eat them in the actual game.
  • Third-Person Person: On the rare occasions he actually speaks, he refers to himself in third person, probably as a sign of low intelligence.
Florg likes Petpets. Florg thinks that Petpets taste yummy. Can you feed Petpets to Florg faster than Florg can eat them? Florg bets not! If you try very hard, Florg may share tasty Petpets with you. Lucky you! *sings* Two for Florg, one for you, three for Florg, none for you...
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Petpets; his favorites are Hasees and Kadoaties.
  • You No Take Candle: "Florg hungry...Florg like Petpets. You keep Petpets on plate, Florg eat them. Florg no like when Petpets fall on floor!"

Other Characters

    Down For Maintenance Pteri
A minor but much-hated face who shows up whenever the servers are offline.
  • Ascended Extra: He started as just a normal pet image on the "down for maintenance" page. He became his own character when he was added as a Random Event and Battledome challenger at the suggestion of someone writing to the Neopian Times editorial.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: His villainous schtick is that he attacks the website itself. Or at least, he claims to.
  • Good All Along: The Down For Maintenance screen changed in April 2022 due to the death of Adobe Flash. In the new one, it turns out he's not the one who causes the outages; he fights off the meepits who are.
  • Hate Sink: The reason he was added as a challenger in the first place is because users frustrated with site outages wanted someone to take their anger out on.
  • No Name Given: He's always just been the "Down For Maintenance Pteri".
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Originally played straight, but later Downplayed. He always has piercing red eyes, and acts sinister, but as threatening as his presence is, he's been Good All Along.

    Pant Devil
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2023_12_13_at_81331_pm.png

A malevolent creature who loves stealing things.

  • Detect Evil: The Whoot is a Petpet said to be able to tell when the Pant Devil is around. On the site itself, it can't actually do this.
  • Jerkass: He's greedy and selfish, and goes around stealing items from Neopians.
  • Kick the Dog: In his Defenders of Neopia comic, he steals Ginny's new bike and rides off on it while laughing evilly.
  • Narcissist: If you have a Pant Devil Attractor in your inventory (which looks like him), he will be more likely to steal it than any other item you have.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He has red eyes, and is a monster that loves to steal things.
  • Sticky Fingers: He likes nothing more than to steal items from random Neopians, and can steal an item from your inventory in a random event.
  • Warm-Up Boss: He is the first opponent in Defenders of Neopia Series 1, having stolen a bike from a young Acara named Ginny.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Sometimes when you visit the Advent Calendar during December, you will find a Rod of Supernova, but the Pant Devil will always steal it from you and fly away.

    Pant Devil's Evil Twin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2023_12_13_at_81357_pm.png

The Pant Devil's twin brother who steals Morphing Potions from him and hands them out to random Neopians.

  • Beard of Evil: He has a goatee and is the Pant Devil's "evil" twin.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He has the same menacing appearance as his brother, but steals valuable Morphing Potions from him and gives them out to users for free in a random event.
  • Evil Laugh: He does this while giving you a Morphing Potion.
The Pant Devil's evil twin hands you (random r99 Morphing Potion), stolen from his brother. He flies away cackling madly.
  • Evil Twin: He is called the Pant Devil's evil twin, but few Neopians would really think of him as evil. He even resembles Evil Spock with his facial hair.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: He has a mustache and goatee, while his twin doesn't.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Despite being called the Pant Devil's Evil Twin, his random event actually gives players rare Morphing Potions by stealing them from his own brother.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. Like his brother, he has red eyes and looks scary, but his presence is a much more welcome sight than the Pant Devil, as he gives out items instead of stealing them.
  • Sticky Fingers: He likes to steal too, but it seems the only one he ever steals from is his brother.
