Class 1B

    Yuuyu Haya
See her tropes here.

    Shouto Todoroki
See his tropes here.

    Neito Monoma

Neito Monoma

Quirk: Copy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neito.png

A sly and abrasive student from Class 1-B who is incredibly envious of Class 1-A's popularity, and obsessed with proving Class 1-B's superiority over them. His Quirk, "Copy", allows him to use the Quirk of anybody he touches for five minutes.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: His Irrational Hatred for 1-A makes him even more insufferable here. Not only is he more antagonistic for no reason, he betrays Itsuka, his own teammate, during the second event just so more 1B students can make it to the next round. May overlap with Adaptational Villainy given he is Intelli's half-brother.
  • Anti-Hero: Definitely isn't the most moral character in the story, envious of Class 1A's popularity and scheming with his class to throw Class 1A under the bus so they can ascend to being the most popular class in the hero course.
  • Attention Whore: Clearly enjoys being in the spotlight, with Ochako noting that despite Yuuyu being the class representative, Monoma looks like he's enjoying being in charge of the class during their scheme-making.
  • Birds of a Feather: He gets along with Fujimi due to their unsefferable jackass attitude, as well as being fiercely loyal to the Commission.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
    • Makes it clear that he's willing to use Shouto as Class 1B's ticket to winning the sports festival. Shouto, for his part, clearly doesn't agree with Monoma's plan.
    • He tries to rile Itsuka and Nejire up during their match in order to hypnotise them with Shinso's Quirk, but it fails since Izuku already realized what his strategy was and told them. That doesn't stop Itsuka from kicking his ass because of it, however.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: Doesn't seem to mind his class being annoyed by his antics.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: No one in Class 1-B can stand him and or his jerkass attitude, especially Yuuyu.
  • Foil: To Bakugo. Both are blonde, loud and arrogant jerks that no one from their classes can stand. But while Bakugo at least puts effort to achieve his selfish goals, Monoma simply lays back and waits for everything to go according to his plans, which never happens.
  • Glass Cannon: Strong as he might be thanks to the Quirks he copies, Monoma has zero resistance to damage. Case in point, Itsuka easily knocks him out with a single karate chop during their match. She even points out she didn't hit him that hard.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He tried to brainwash Itsuka and Nejire during their match by trash talking Izuku, but when they trash talk 1-B instead of answering him, he abandons his strategy and falls for their trap.
  • Hypocrite: He loves to trash talk 1-A but if hears one bad word about 1-B, he will go ballistic.
  • Irrational Hatred: Tsuburaba mentions that Monoma can't go an entire hour without bringing up Class 1A as attention-seekers.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Monoma doesn't seem to be as insightful as he thinks he is about the Inner Circle's agenda, given he wasn't sure what Fujimi meant about his role in the Day of Genesis.
  • Oh, Crap!: His reaction when Izuku, who is pissed at him for attacking Itsuka, comes at him with the full intention to kick his ass.
  • Smug Snake: He's unbearably smug and confident of his chances of defeating Itsuka and Nejire, only to be caught flatfooted by their own reading of his horrible personality and flaws, and ends up facing a humiliating defeat without even being able to land a hit on either of them.
  • The Starscream: A jerkass example. He was willing to pull a Cavalry Betrayal against Itsuka's team for pure spite if it meant that more 1-B students would make to the final round of the Festival, at least until Yuuyu and Itsuka promised to kick his ass before the second event begun if he did so, to which he then begrudgingly agrees to work with his team. Of course, as soon as the opportunity presents itself, he backstabs Itsuka and tries to get rid of her, Izuku and Ochako all in one fell swoop, just so more 1-B students make to the next event.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed at first. Monoma's overall jerkass and toxic influence over his class by projecting his grudge against 1-A makes him come as way more antagonistic than evil, but becomes Played Straight with the reveal he is Kanshi Shiryoku's brother, and is seemingly reaching out to her to get revenge against Itsuka and Nejire for his humiliating defeat in the Sports Festival.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: He is the main reason why 1-B is so antagonistic towards 1-A. Upon meeting their classmates and realizing that their so called arrogance is inside Monoma's head, 1-B promptly apologizes for falling for his taunts.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: As Izuku points out, being able to use multiple Quirks makes him a dangerous opponent, but since he has zero fighting experience (unlike Izuku and his friends), it is not enough for Monoma to beat him.

    Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

Quirk: Steel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tetsutetsu.png

A hot-blooded and venturesome student. His Quirk, "Steel", allows him to turn his body into steel.

  • The Big Guy: Even if he doesn't tower over others, his personality more than fits the bill, being hot-blooded and headstrong.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Like in canon, after fighting against Ejirio, the both of them develop a Friendly Rivalry.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Shouts at Itsuka to stop being arrogant while she stands up for Class 1A - which makes her realize that she wasn't quite making matters any better, much to her embarrassment.
  • Dumb Muscle: Not particularly bright, seeing as he came to Class 1A to shout at them despite Yuuyu telling him not to, while clearly being afraid of her.
  • Hot-Blooded: Rather loud and hotheaded, especially when it comes to the students of Class 1A.
  • Jerkass Realization: Has this after his defeat to Ejirio during the second event, coming to understand that all the so called jerkassery of Class 1A was in his head.
  • Oh, Crap!: His reaction when Yuuyu, who told him and everyone at 1-B to not bother anyone from 1-A, appears behind him and pulls him aside for doing so.
  • Stock Shōnen Rival: Played for Laughs example. Since Ejirio had his own "shonen hero arc" while training for the Festival, Tetsutetsu acts as this for him, and their fight is treated as a "fated shonen rival duel" by Nejire.

    Ibara Shiozaki

Ibara Shiozaki

Quirk: Vines

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ibara_shiozaki_19.png

A dainty and devoutly religious student from Class 1-B. Her Quirk, "Vines", turns her hair into long, thorny brambles that she can extend and control at will.

  • All Women Are Prudes: Played with. Ibara is aghast when Kinoko wants to go around and tempt the boys into making moves, criticizing her for trying to use her 'sinful body' to seduce men. This, however, doesn't stop her from having Chikuchi kiss her legs during the big make out scene, however.
  • Badass Pacifist: All of her fighting tactics amount to restraining her opponent, but Ibara actually shows herself to be quite the threat to Izuku during the second round, with her vines much harder for him to dodge than the other attacks.
  • Berserk Button: She holds an immense disdain for deceptive tactics, being completely appalled by Monoma's suggestion of underperforming during the first round, and instead gets her own place in the first round on her own terms.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Is a kind and thoughtful girl, but during the second round, Izuku finds himself having some of the worst trouble getting around her, due to her hair being far too chaotic to fight off and unable to incapacitate her since she's too low on the ground.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: Justified. Her green hair is actually made of brambles.
  • Green Thumb: Her hair is literally a plant, one that she can grow at will.
  • Honor Before Reason: Shiozaki has a very strict moral code and dislikes any kind of lying and deceiving, even when it actually makes strategic sense to do these things.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Lambasts Kinoko for wanting to tempt the boys and argues with Chikuchi about it - and the next time we see her, she's got Chikuchi on her knees and in between her legs, all while looking pretty smug about it.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her disdain for deceptive tactics that nearly everyone in Class 1B participated in, she still shows to be an incredibly kind girl, easily talking to Kaminari about Ms. Curious snooping around near their lunchroom and worrying about her.
  • Slap-Slap-Kiss: Has this kind of relationship with Chikuchi Togeike - one moment the two can't stand each other and argue like no one's business, and the next they're huddled on a bench making out.

    Toru Hagakure

Toru Hagakure

Quirk: Invisibility

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toru_hagakure_hero_costume_anime_action_2.png

A bubbly and cheerful girl whose Quirk, "Invisibility", renders her entire body permanently invisible. She is usually seen as a set of seemingly floating clothes — or in the case of her hero costume, just a pair of floating gloves and shoes. Because of this, she often jokes about her condition and is able to get away with states of undress no visible human could dream of trying in public.

  • Babies Ever After: The Flash Forward reveals that she's pregnant, with Eri stopping on her way home to feel her baby bump.
  • Demoted to Extra: Is in Class 1B in this story, and thus doesn't have as much of a role. With that said, she acts as The Face of Class 1B.
  • The Face: She's the most outgoing and bubbly girl in Class 1B, having a friendship with fellow go-getter Mina and organizing the beach trip with her.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: She's mentioned getting into a fist fight with Mina during the second round. The next time she appears, she and Mina are getting along swimmingly.
  • Genki Girl: Like Mina, she's very lively. All Might's cheerleader squad has her on it, and she's shown being quite enthusiastic about jumping on Mina's idea for a beach party.

    Nirengeki Shoda

Nirengeki Shoda

Quirk: Twin Impact

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shoda_nirengeki.png

The vice president of Class 1-B, a humble and responsible student. His Quirk, "Twin Impact", allows him to, anywhere he has already made a strike, remotely trigger a second, much stronger impact.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Instead of being introduced during the Sports Festival, he debuts during the Entrance Exam arc.
  • Class Representative: He is 1-B's vice-president.
  • Distressed Dude: Had the misfortune of taking Ochako's place as the one to be trapped under debris and saved by Izuku and Nejire from the Zero-Pointer.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: His role in the story is small, merely taking Ochako's place being the one trapped under debris and saved from the Zero-Pointer by Izuku, but it's because of him that Izuku and (implicably) Nejire get into the hero course, and triggers Nejire's fascination with Izuku.

    Kinoko Komori

Kinoko Komori

Quirk: Mushroom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kinoko_komori_9.png
A silly-looking and eccentric Class 1-B girl who wants to become an idol hero. Her Quirk, "Mushroom", allows her to emit spores from her body that instantly sprout mushrooms on any surface. The range and speed of these spores depend on how humid the area is.
  • Pungeon Master: She loves to make puns about mushrooms, even if most of the time they never really work.
  • Verbal Tic: Kinoko often finishes her sentences by saying "shroom".

    Chikuchi Togeike

Chikuchi Togeike

Quirk: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chikuchi_togeike_anime.png

A snarky Class 1-B student.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: She is introduced before the Internships arc instead of during the School Festival arc.
  • Ascended Extra: Went from minor antagonistic presence from the School Festival to a Class 1-B hero student.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Ibara. They are always at each other's throats, with Ibara chastasing Chikuchi for her snarky comments and Chikuchi calling Ibara out on her hollier than thou attitude, but as soon the opportunity presents itself, they immeadiatly jump on each other's bones and make a very passionate make out by the beach.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Almost as much as Haya.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: Joins the other couples pile by making out with Ibara.
  • Noodle Incident: She mentions to have been completely ignored before, which causes Ibara to profusely apologize.
  • No Sympathy: Given how much of a raging jerk Haya was behaving during and after her loss at the Sports Festival, Chikuchi has this towards her class representative.

    Shihai Kuroiro

Shihai Kuroiro — Vantablack

Quirk: Black

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shihai_kuroiro_1.png

A discreet and tricky Class 1-B boy with jet-black skin due to his Quirk, "Black", which allows him to merge into anything black and control it to an extent.

  • Birds of a Feather: Quickly befriends Fumikage and Reiko due to their chyuuni personalities.

    Mashirao Ojiro

Mashirao Ojiro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mashirao_ojiro_hero_costume_2_action_2.png

    Togaru Kamakiri

Togaru Kamakiri

Quirk: Sharp Edge

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/togaru_kamakiri_0.png

An aggressive student with an insectoid appearance. His Quirk, "Sharp Edge", allows him to protrude blades from anywhere on his body.

    Sen Kaibara

Sen Kaibara

Quirk: Gyrate

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sen_kaibara_8.png

A serious and proud student of Class 1-B. His Quirk, "Gyrate", lets him rotate any part of his body like a drill.

    Jurota Shishida

Jurota Shishida

Quirk: Beast

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jurota_shishida_8.png

A wealthy and shaggy student with a beastly appearance. His Quirk, "Beast", lets him transform into a large bestial form that grants him enhanced strength, speed, and durability, as well as improved senses.

    Kosei Tsuburaba

Kosei Tsuburaba

Quirk: Solid Air

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kosei_tsuburaba.png

A walleyed student from Class 1-B. His Quirk, "Solid Air", allows him to create barriers of solidified air through his breath.

    Juzo Honenuki

Juzo Honenuki

Quirk: Softening

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/juzo_honenuki_4.png

1-B's second recommendation student, he has a strange skull-like face that gives him a creepy look. His Quirk, "Softening", allows him to soften any inorganic material he touches, effectively turning solid objects into semi-liquids.

  • Nice Guy: He's respectable and patient with the more hotblooded of his classmates.

    Rikido Sato

Rikido Sato

Quirk: Sugar Rush

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rikido_sato_s4.png

A tall and strong-built 1-B student who can bake some mean desserts. His Quirk, "Sugar Rush", greatly increases his physical strength and muscle mass through an intake of sugar. However, his brain activity slows down the more sugar he consumes, making him doped up and sleepy if he overdoses.

  • Demoted to Extra: A member of Class 1A in canon, but a member of Class 1B here.

    Kojiro Bondo

Kojiro Bondo

Quirk: Cemedine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kojiro_bondo_6.png

A shy Class 1-B student with a golem-like appearance. His Quirk, "Cemedine", lets him shoot a powerful adhesive glue out of the holes in his "face", and control how fast it dries up.

    Hiryu Rin

Hiryu Rin

Quirk: Scales

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rin_hiryu.png

A student of Chinese origin who moves to Japan so he can attend U.A. His Quirk, "Scales", lets him grow hard scales from his skin, which he can use as armor or as razor-sharp projectiles.

    Manga Fukidashi

Manga Fukidashi — Comicman

Quirk: Comic

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/manga_fukidashi_8.png

An upbeat Class 1-B student whose head resembles a speech bubble. His Quirk, "Comic", allows him to manifest onomatopeias into reality as giant letters that also carry the properties of the sound they are based on.

The Big Three

    In General
The trio of third years considered to be the best among U.A. students. They are all very talented students who have been praised as being equal, if not above the level of pro heroes. However, they are also recognized as eccentric people.
  • The Ace: The trio is composed of the best U.A. students, all of whom are skilled enough to compete with the pros.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: The trio seems to works with this routine. (Tamaki gets shy, Himiko flirts with anyone that catches her eye, and Mirio wants to start a fight). They are, nonetheless, the best students in U.A. All of their on-site skills also show them to be capable heroes.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: To say they are peculiar and quirky would be an understatement. Each has their own thing: Himiko loves to tease and flirt with people, Tamaki imagines people as potatoes due to his overt shyness, and Mirio likes to crack up the ice with incredibly bad puns.
  • Composite Character: The three of them, alongside Mawata, take Izuku, Shoto and Bakugo's place as the ones to take down Humarise during their attack two years prior to the story.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Mirio is the physically strongest and more combat efficient as the Fighter, Tamaki's multiple unusual tricks make him the Mage, while Himiko's shapeshifting and stealth skills make her the Thief.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Although they are yet to be seen working together, the three seem to hang out together a lot, being that Mirio and Tamaki are Childhood Friends (as well as lovers) and Himiko is very close to them.
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: Mirio and Tamaki were longtime friends and have known each other since childhood, but only met with Himiko when they got into U.A.

    Mirio Togata

Mirio Togata — Lemillion

Quirk: Permeation

U.A. Class Status: 3-B Hero Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mirio_ones_justice_2_artwork.png

A third year student that helps Izuku to get a better hand over his Quirk at Tenko's request. He is also Sir Nighteye's sidekick and the original candidate to be the ninth wielder of One for All.

  • Accidental Pervert: When dodging Izuku's lightning quirk, he accidentally phases through his own clothing, giving Class 1A a good look at his naked body and leaving him scrambling to put some pants on.
  • The Ace: He's recognized as one of UA's best students, and Nighteye insists that he's the perfect candidate for One for All, something which All Might never completely denies.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He is introduced shortly before the Sports Festival, instead of during the Shie Hassaikai arc.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Canon doesn't go into his preferences, but here is shown to be in a relationship with Tamaki.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Obviously takes a liking to Izuku during their spar, eagerly explaining his quirk to the curious Izuku, and offers to help him out with his quirk anytime he needs.
  • Blood Knight: Soon after Izuku becomes unsure of how to use his quirk against him, Mirio pretty much immediately jumps on the chance to fight him, sporting a pretty big grin all the while.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Nighteye insists that he is the best possible successor to One For All. He's also a massive goofball and casually talks about Izuku blasting him into the ceiling after narrowly avoiding getting a direct blast in the chest.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: After revealing he lied about being on board with Nighteye's scheme to get One for All, Mirio calls his mentor out on his biased attitude, saying they need to work together against the upcoming danger All for One is bringing.
  • Commonality Connection: He and Izuku hit it off due to their shared difficulties controlling their quirks (Spark for Izuku and Permeation for Mirio).
  • Composite Character: Since the events of the Humarise arc happened two years before the story begun, he takes Izuku's place as the one to defeat Flect Turn during his travel to Otheon.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Because of how his quirk makes him phase through his clothes, he ends up accidentally flashing Class 1A during his fight with Izuku.
  • Hero of Another Story: He literally saved the world from Humarise a few years back, although thanks to the WHA and UA stepping in, few know of his true involvement.
  • Intangibility: His quirk allows him to phase through any surface.
  • I Lied: His response when reveals he was pretending to fall for Nighteye's scheme to get One for All.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Since his Quirk makes him intangible, he is the perfect match to help Izuku get a better grasp over his extremely powerful lightning Quirk without the risk of hurting anyone.
  • No-Sell: Thanks to his quirk, it allows him to remain totally unaffected by any attack. It's this specific reason that Tenko wants Izuku to train with Mirio, seeing as Mirio would be able to help Izuku master his quirk without any threat of injury. It even allowed him to circumvent Flect Turn's Quirk in the past.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Chapter 41 reveals that at some point in the last two years, Mirio went through a version of the events of the third film, complete with being briefly labeled a fugitive.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Spends the entire fight and explanation afterwards with Izuku with a big grin on his face, and remains surprisingly nonchalant after barely managing to dodge a blast that might have killed him.
  • Secret Test of Character: Mirio pretended to be on board with his mentor's plan to take One for All from Itsuka whether willingly or not in order to understand how deep goes her conviction and determination to be a wielder, and she successfully passed on it, much to his happiness.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Unfortunately to Sir Nighteye, who decides to drag Mirio into the 'Who gets One for All' conflict by revealing everything to him. Thankfully, Mirio doesn't fall his mentor's bait.

    Himiko Toga

Himiko Toga — Carmilla

Quirk: Transform

U.A. Class Status: 3-A Hero Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/himiko_84.png

Recovery Girl's assistant with a fixation on blood.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Himiko makes her debut during the Entrance Exam arc, instead of after the Stain arc.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Implied to have been saved by a hero before she could go onto her path to become a villain.
  • Affectionate Nickname: She tends to call Izuku and Ochako, but Ochako especially, 'cute kohai'.
  • Chick Magnet: So far, Ochako, Tsuyu and Mawata Fuwa have expressed some form of attraction to her.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Himiko is barely restraining her anger and the urge to stab Habuko while seeing the snake girl and Tsu's clearly not platonic displays of affection.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Is said to wear a black and red hero costume, and is certainly far more brutal than the casual hero (she sneaks up on Slice through a Trigger henchmen and attacks her with a knife), but she's still heroic, fighting in the defence of her kohai.
  • Ethical Slut: Has a habit of teasing and flirting with several students, with Ochako being her most recent target of teasing, and ends up making out with her in Chapter 24. It's made clear that Ochako isn't the first girl she'd dragged off for some private time, however, but Himiko makes it clear that she did it because of Ochako's poor self-esteem and wanting to give her a boost of confidence.
  • The Gadfly: Whenever she sees Izuku or Ochako, she'll waste no time flirting with them and discarding Itsuka entirely, much to the latter girl's annoyance.
  • Good Is Not Soft: She's on the side of heroes, but upon seeing Class 1A in danger at the hands of the Villain Consortium, she doesn't hesitate to attempt to land a fatal blow on Slice, stabbing her in the arm and only being pushed away by Kurogiri attacking her.
  • Hero of Another Story: Helped Mirio save the world from Humarise a few years back, but her fragile place at UA makes sure that she doesn't mention it much. Ochako expresses this surprise as well.
  • Hospital Hottie: Apparently has a tendency to show up at Recovery Girl's office in revealing outfits, much to Recovery Girl's annoyance.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She seems oddly subdued from her usual chipper attitude while inspecting the U.A. barrier following the break-in, most likely because she realized someone (Slice) deliberately cut it down to infiltrate the school.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: She's revealed to have put together that Izuku, Ochako and Itsuka are dating (whether through spying on them or just paying attention), and it's implied that she subtly taunted Itsuka about it to give her the opportunity to reveal it to everyone else.
  • Serious Business: Love is very important to Himiko. Even though she knows Ochako will not reciprocate her feelings, Himiko still goes out of her way to help the gravity girl to stop second depreciating herself when she says no one would consider her attractive by kissing her and saying she does consider Ochako gorgeous.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Has this type of relationship with Recovery Girl, with the Youthful Heroine annoyed by Himiko's playful and flirty behaviour, constantly reprimanding her in showing up to work in Hospital Hottie uniforms, and leaves notes threatening to wack her with a cane if Himiko drags some student into the office for some alone time, with the implication that it's happened before. Himiko, naturally, doesn't take her all that much seriously.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Himiko has the habit of showing off at work using the most scandalous Hospital Hottie costumes (she says it helps the blood pump faster, and it's not like she is wrong), all while flirting without shame with the patients. This often leads to her getting whacked by Recovery Girl's cane.
  • Ship Tease: With Tsu. While Himiko loves to tease and show off to anyone, she is shown unusually shy around the frog girl, not to mention insanely jealous while seeing her interact with Habuko. She eventually admits to have a crush on Tsu, but has no idea on how to pursue it seriously.
  • Stealth Expert: She is incredibly sneaky, having manage to get inside the cafeteria, reach out to Izuku and jump-scare without anyone noticing it. And while wearing one of her Hospital Hottie outfits too.
  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Himiko spends a lot her time teasing Izuku and Ochako in front of Itsuka because she loves seeing the other girl going jealous. She finds out later on is not as funny to be on the receiving end of this while seeing Habuko interacting with her crush, Tsu.
  • The Tease: She enjoys teasing Izuku, Ochako and Itsuka with flirty remarks or outright ignoring them (in Itsuka's case). In Chapter 24, on the other hand, Himiko makes it clear that there's a difference between her teasing someone and outright flirting with them, as shown when she put the moves on Ochako.
  • Third-Option Love Interest: Defied by Himiko - she flirts with Ochako and gives her a kiss upon hearing that Ochako has self-esteem issues with her body, but makes it clear that she isn't hurt that Ochako doesn't quite reciprocate, with Himiko detesting relationships having spent years being lectured and given sex ed by Midnight and Recovery Girl. On the other hand, she makes it clear that she won't stop flirting with Ochako, and expects a 'call' once Ochako figures out what's going on with Izuku and Itsuka.

    Tamaki Amajiki

Tamaki Amajiki — Suneater

Quirk: Manifest

U.A. Class Status: 3-A Hero Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tamaki_7.png

A shy third year student and Mirio's childhood friend.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: He is introduced shortly before the Sports Festival, instead of during the Shie Hassaikai arc.
  • Ambiguously Gay: Doesn't say much during his introductory chapter, but glancing behind his shoulder at Mirio's naked form prompts him to blush and quickly look away, and he's noted to look a cross between elated and petrified when Mirio clings to him without a shirt on. The ambiguous part goes away following his and Mirio making out during Chapter 37.
  • Hero of Another Story: Helped Mirio, Himiko and Mawata save the world from Humarise during their Trigger terror attacks.
  • Pointy Ears: Is pointed out to have rather elf-like ears.
  • Shrinking Violet: Rather shy and easily intimidated when placed in front of a crowd. He spends much of Izuku and Mirio's fight with his back facing the crowd, shrinking into himself when Nejire keeps bugging him with questions and practically begging Mirio to come save him.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Setsuna points out that he seems like the kind of guy who will die if he makes eye contact with someone else.

Other Students

    Hitoshi Shinsou

Hitoshi Shinsou

Quirk: Brainwashing

U.A. Class Status: 1-C General Studies Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c_chara_main43_1.png

A Gen Ed student who failed the Entrance Exam but hopes to use the Sports Festival to secure a position on the Hero Course. He achieves this thanks to reaching the semi-finals.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Not only does he brainwash Itsuka, his own teammate, into attacking Izuku (his exact words are: "give him a concussion") so he can get rid of competition, Shinso openly mocks her feelings for Izuku, saying that he is doing so because he deserves to be in hero course more than the both of them.
  • Break the Haughty:
    • Arrives at Class 1A to arrogantly mock them and intimidate them by saying that if they aren't careful, he'll take their seats from them in an attempt to declare war - only for it to fall flat on his face when Itsuka points out that the chances of the teachers kicking them out of their class would be less than zero, mostly based on the actual homework she did on the sports festival unlike Shinsou.
    • Happens again when Itsuka breaks free from his control and punches him right in the face.
    • And then again during his match against Shoto. He barely has time to brainwash Momo before he and Yuuyu get frozen in a iceberg, with Shinso being completely frozen besides his arm and face.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: His subtle cheating during the first and second rounds of the sports festival were noted by the teachers, and they throw this in his face when Shinsou is angry about how he wasn't considered for 1A's empty spot.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Expect most of the words out of his mouth to either be sarcastic or angry, with no in-between.
  • Didn't See That Coming:
    • He is flabbergasted when Itsuka unexpectedly breaks out of his quirk's hold, so much so that he doesn't realize she's heading over to punch him until it's too late.
    • He's completely caught off guard when Melissa admits she's Quirkless, and didn't need to rely on a flashy Quirk to get into the Hero Course.
  • Didn't Think This Through: As Itsuka points out, Hitoshi coming to Class 1A to talk down on them and insult them won't do him any favors in the long run, seeing as they may end up being his future classmates and the 'nice girl' he's sneering at is the class representative.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Has one in Chapter 9 with Nejire pointing him out and commenting on his tired appearance, and then in Chapter 10 where's he's noted to be fleeing the zero pointer in Izuku's zone.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Makes it pretty clear that he's envious of the students with quirks far more suited for hero work, as he feels he was cheated out of a spot in the hero course.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Comes to Class 1A and insults them, telling them that he came to knock them off their pedestals and telling them not to look down on a lowly general studies student like himself - while he pretty much arrogantly looks down on them. Itsuka calls him out on it in Chapter 26.
Itsuka: Oh, and one more thing. You like to go on and on about how people condescend and look down on you - but honestly, I'm amazed at how many rocks you can throw at your own glass house without it toppling over.
    • He detests those he considers cheaters, or those who use sneaky talents to get into spots he feels he deserves - which is quite rich, seeing as he deliberately cheated during the first round of the sports festival.
  • Jerkass: Comes to Class 1A to insult them to their faces.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: His getting several people to jump in the pit during the first round of the sports festival comes back to bite him hard when Nezu reveals that he's aware of what Shinsou did, pointing out how it was deliberately against Midnight's rules, and probably barred him from being considered as a potential Hero Course student.
  • No Social Skills: Anything out of his mouth is an insult or accusation of looking down on him, so it's rather hard for anyone to consider him likable.
  • Nominal Hero: For a guy who wants to be hero so much, he is borderline villainous to get things his way.
  • Sore Loser: He's mentioned having a meltdown after being curb-stomped by Shouto after their match, with some noting that he was seen punching a vending machine in his anger.
  • The Starscream: Much like Monoma, he also betrays his team during the second event and brainwashes Itsuka into attacking Izuku. Thankfully, One for All manages to snap her out of it.
  • This Cannot Be!: His reaction when Itsuka breaks free from his Brainwashing and punches him in the face.

    Minoru Mineta

Minoru Mineta

Quirk Pop Off

U.A. Class Status: 1-C General Studies Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mineta.png

A short and incredibly lewd boy whose Quirk, "Pop Off", allows him to produce highly adhesive balls from his head which can be used for a variety of situations, although pulling too many will rip off his scalp and cause bleeding.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Seems to have a particular obsession with Momo, clinging to her during the first round of the sports festival and later eagerly and blatantly staring at her, much to her discomfort.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Doesn't appear until the Sports Festival arc, whereas he was introduced during the early chapters in the manga.
  • Adaptational Karma: Unlike in canon, his little stunt of groping Momo during the Festival was not overlooked, and got him and his family in serious trouble with the Yaoyorozu Family lawyers, and both his parents and U.A. are far less leninent with his perverted behaviour.
  • All Men Are Perverts: He stands out from the other perverts of the story by openly being one, and a rather creepy one at that, blatantly groping Momo and leering at her afterwards. Everyone else is rather put off by him.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Likes to try hitting on every pretty girl he sees - and by 'hit on', that usually means 'cling to them and feel them up'. Naturally, nearly every girl he comes across is disgusted by him.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Surprisingly, unlike Shinsou (who disobeyed his instructions from his team and tried to use Itsuka to hurt the other contestants), Mineta is shown to get along far better with his team than the other general studies student, working alongside everyone to set up traps in the zone and assisting Izuku when he was facing Setsuna and Hanta by pointing out a trap his teammate didn't see.
  • Demoted to Extra: He didn't get into either class in the hero course, presumably because Nejire and Yuuyu were deaged and took his and Aoyama's spot. It takes until the sports festival for him to finally appear.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Shamelessly hits on Melissa when they meet, but when he discovers that she's quirkless, Mineta surprisingly backs off and tells Bakugou to do the same.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Not only does he gets totally defeated by Tokoyami during their match, he also gets a massive beating from Dark Shadow over his inappropriate comments towards Reiko.
  • Oh, Crap!: His very understandable reaction to realizing that he has to fight Bakugou during the sports festival's final rounds.
  • Sticky Situation: His Quirk lets him produce sticky balls from his head, which he used to cling to Momo during the first round of the sports festival.
  • Support Party Member: Since his Quirk isn't the most offensive type, he stays behind setting up traps to anyone that tries to steal his team's points in the second round.

    Mei Hatsume

Mei Hatsume

Quirk: Zoom

U.A. Class Status: 1-H Support Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mei_78.png

A student from Support Course trying to make a name for herself during the Sports Festival.

  • Always Someone Better: Sees herself as this over Melissa, claiming her inventions are way better than the Full Gauntlet.
  • Berserk Button: Don't insult her babies. When Nejire innocently says that her items are nowhere as cool as the Full Gauntlet, Mei snaps in anger and tells Momo to blast the flying girl out of the sky with her cannon, and Izuku specifically presses this button to get her full attention on him during their match while Ochako disables the drone preventing any of them from leaving the arena.
  • Cursed with Awesome: She lost her index and middle fingers during an accident when she was young, but she got them replaced with a pair of artificial ones that actually help her a lot with her inventions.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Unless the subject is related to her babies, don't expect to have her attention. She also expresses the dream of becoming a Brain in a Jar, much to her teammates' confusion.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Lost her index and middle fingers during a Noodle Incident in the past.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She is seen carrying loads of Support Items for the Sports Festival.
  • I Call It "Vera": Mei loves to refer to her inventions as "babies", much to the embarassement of those around her.
  • I Have Boobs, You Must Obey!: Attempts to coerce Izuku into ditching Melissa for her as a support item worker by pressing her chest against his arm. Much to Itsuka, Ochako and Melissa's ire.
  • Mad Scientist: She has a very maniacal grin while describing her babies and their utilities.
  • Moment Killer: Just as Izuku and Ochako were having a very tender and heartwarming moment during the second event break, she jumps in to ruin it by asking Izuku to help promote her inventions.
  • Mood-Swinger: She was very annoyed with Ochako over breaking her forcefield drone, but as soon as the hero student expressed interest in Mei's noise-surpassing boots, she goes back to her upbeat self.
  • The Nicknamer: She is not very good with remembering names, so she just refers to people by their most obvious features. She calls Momo "Tits McGee", much to the heiress's annoyance.
  • The Rival: Wants to consider herself as this to Melissa. Results are mixed.
  • Shameless Self-Promoter: She brought dozens of boxes of her Support Items to show off to major companies during the Sports Festival.
  • Support Party Member: Her main role during the Tag game is to protect her team base and keep the maintance of the support items.

    Maina Furasu

Maina Furasu

Quirk: Unknown

U.A. Class Status: 1-H Support Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maina.png

A Support Course student.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Originally introduced during the Final War arc, Maina debuts a few weeks before the Internships arc.
  • Composite Character: There's no indication who made the repairs and upgrades to Izuku's costume in canon, whereas here, she is the one confirmed to be handling his costume and upgrades.
  • Nice Girl: In a contrast to Mei, she is a lot friendlier and kind towards her fellow classmates and possible clients. She even kept most of original design of Izuku's original costume while adding her improvements.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calmer and more timid blue to Mei's more bombastic, attention stealing red.
  • Shrinking Violet: In contrast to her more bombastic classmate Mei, Maina is far more quiet and withdrawn, being almost as nervous as Izuku usually is.

    Mawata Fuwa

Mawata Fuwa

Quirk: Unknown

U.A. Class Status: 2-A Hero Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mawata_fuwa_school_uniform_profile.png

A second-year student in the hero course.

  • The Ace: Implied to be this for her class, since she won the Second Years Festival.
  • The Cameo: Only mentioned by Aizawa after the second day of Festival ends.
  • Hero of Another Story: Joined the Big Three in saving the world from Humarise.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: It's mentioned in Chapter 43 that she took part in the Big Three's version of the third movie's Humarise plot.

    Katsuki Bakugo
A former Hero course student that got demoted to Gen-Ed after the Sports Festival.

U.A. Faculty

    All Might

Toshinori Yagi — All Might

Quirk: One For All

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/all_might_2.png
The Symbol of Peace
Click here to see his real self post-injury.

Japan's Greatest Hero, the Symbol of Peace, and Izuku's lifelong idol. His true identity is Yagi Toshinori, which only a select few people know. Years prior to the main story, Toshinori suffered an injury that took out most of his internal organs. As a result, he's slowly being unable to continue as a Hero, as such he's begun to look for a successor, becoming a teacher at U.A. to find one.

"One for All", the Quirk he inherited, allows him to stockpile an enormous amount of raw power, allowing him to significantly enhance all of his physical abilities to a superhuman level. This results in unbelievable levels of strength, speed, agility, and durability that make All Might nearly invincible.

  • The Ace: The World's Greatest Hero. Powerful, loved by everyone who isn't a villain, and exceptionally competent. He's even able to fill several water bottles full of pop in under ten seconds, and gets over to stop the Sludge Villain from escaping.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Downplayed. All Might is still a mentor and father figure to Izuku, but they don't have as special a relationship due to Itsuka being All Might's chosen inheritor for One For All.
  • Badass Teacher: As per canon, All Might takes a teaching job at UA to help guide the current generation.
  • Big Good: He's this to Japan as its Symbol of Peace.
  • Body Horror: His current body when not using his quirk is a withered husk that's constantly coughing up blood. It's because of this he is an Insecure Love Interest, as he doubts Inko would be interested in him when he looks like a zombie.
  • Catchphrase: "I AM HERE!"
  • The Chooser of the One: He was the one who picked Itsuka as his successor after she rushed into a burning building to save the lives of a few children.
  • Honorary Uncle: To Melissa Shield. This also extends to the Shimura siblings (who he rescued and put under the care of Gran Torino) and Izuku, Ochako and Itsuka, who treat him like a generally dorky but still loving uncle.
  • Insecure Love Interest: All Might is aware that his feelings about Inko are not platonic, specially after finding out that she and Hisashi are separated, but can't act on them since not only it would make her a target to All for One, but also because he doesn't think she would be attracted to his Small Might form.
  • Large Ham: Whenever he's buffed up, to emphasize his sheer hamminess, the font tends to get bolded.
  • No Hero to His Valet: Over time, he becomes this to Izuku, Itsuka and Ochako, in part because they actually know the real person behind the hero the general population society sees All Might as, and also in part to the growing familiarity between them. In short, while their hero worship of him goes down over time, they still respect him.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The only times that can change his upbeat and joyful attitude is mentions of Nana Shimura and All For One. Thoughts of Nana turn All Might morose, and even if he has Tenko and Hana it's clear that he still misses her dearly. And any mention of All For One will send All Might's happy mood plummeting.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Despite being able to fool almost every single person with his Toshinori Yagi disguise, Ochako is smart enough to see that All Might and his "personal assistant", are actually the same person. As she points out, both have the same hight, voice, eye and hair color and drive the same old white truck.
  • Parental Substitute: Acts somewhat as this to Izuku, although it's downplayed as Hisashi is still around and a loving father to him. However, in the ten months of training, All Might served as Izuku's parental figure, bonded with him closer than the pro hero did with Ochako and Itsuka, and All Might is personally invested in Izuku's development and care in regards to his quirk.
  • Ship Tease: Gets a bit of this with Inko in Chapter 14 after agreeing to go on a triple date with the Kendous and Urarakas so she didn't feel awkward as the fifth wheel. This culminates with their confessions after Inko discovers that All Might and Toshinori Yagi are the same person.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Subverted. It's made clear by Sir Nighteye and Gran Torino that All Might certainly made to kill All For One in their final battle at Endor Forest until they receive hints otherwise, and All Might doesn't seem to put much thought into it other than wanting to make sure the old villain is down for good. Considering it's All For One, this reaction is understandable.
  • Tranquil Fury: Enters the USJ during the Villain Consortium's invasion calm but clearly boiling with fury.

    Eraserhead

Shota Aizawa — Eraserhead

Quirk: Erasure

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aizawa_7.png

The "Underground" Erasing Hero and homeroom teacher of Class 1-A. His Quirk, "Erasure", allows him to nullify others' control over their Quirks just by looking at them. Blinking dispels the effect of his Quirk and using it gives him dry eyes.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Aizawa in canon, despite his demeanor and reputation, did know when to pull his verbal punches and back up his critiques with genuine advice. This version is a full-on Sink or Swim Mentor whose only advice to his students amounts to telling them to get over their problems. The canon Aizawa also likely wouldn't have been so irresponsible as to genuinely risk the safety of two of his students to teach another humility. However, it's ultimately downplayed in that he actually learns his lesson from the aforementioned incident and works to be a more approachable teacher to his students.
  • Anti-Mentor: Downplayed in that he doesn't know the full history behind Izuku's nervousness over using his Quirk, but he still pretty much tells Izuku to get over his problem before it hinders him without really giving him any advise on how to do so.
  • Apathetic Teacher: Played with - he refuses to put up with his Wacky Homeroom when he doesn't have to, but takes his students' behavior and their performance very seriously.
  • The Atoner: Following his actions at the Sports Festival, Aizawa attempts to become a better teacher to his students, in particular Izuku and Ochako, allowing them the options to transfer over to Class 1B if they weren't comfortable with him, or otherwise offering Ochako training for stealth.
  • Brutal Honesty: With the exception of tricking his students that he would expel one of them, Aizawa does not hold back on his criticisms, with Izuku being a frequent victim of Aizawa's No Sympathy behavior.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: When called out by Midnight as being an asshole, Aizawa merely responds with "I know."
  • Didn't Think This Through: Set up the Sports Festival to have Izuku, Ochako and Katsuki on the same team to try and humble Bakugou, and later arranged the final matches to have them inevitably face off. He never suspected, however, what might happen if Bakugou didn't get humbled by either event.
  • The Eeyore: An utter killjoy who constantly drops the cold reality of a situation and pops whatever bubbles of naivete he sees.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Midnight calls him out on projecting his trauma and grief over Oboro's death onto his students, saying that while what happened was tragic, the kids don't deserve to be treated in such a cold and heartless way and he needs to stop living such a lonely life.
  • Heroic BSoD: Played for Laughs when he meets Nejire - Itsuka notes that it's impressive that she caused a man who looked like he was already dying inside to decay even more.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: His general reaction to Nejire's very existence, with Aizawa immediately trying to have her sent over to Class 1B and becoming very tempted to get drinks with Midnight.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: It's downplayed thanks to his Adaptational Jerkass treatment, but Aizawa does have moments where he displays a softer side of him:
    • He actually hears Izuku talk about how he can't really use his quirk without assistance from the Full Gauntlet, and is shown to be surprised by it since he believed Izuku was a lazy student with a quirk he didn't bother trying to control, and when Izuku does show he can use the quirk without handicapping himself (albeit with a bit of pain), Aizawa doesn't signal him out or bring any attention to it.
    • He reprimands Izuku for holding back during his battle trial, but makes it clear that he does think Izuku has potential.
    • His plans for Bakugou may be irresponsible, but he does want him to improve. And when his plan to use Izuku and Ochako to help backfires, he shows signs of regretting how he used them and how he ended up getting the two of them injured.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: When Midnight attempts to reason with him to not project his trauma over Oboro's death onto his students, he accuses her, who was one of Oboro's best friends just like him, that she doesn't take his death seriously, acting as if he was the only person who suffered from it. Needless to say, this deeply hurts Midnight, and all but ruins their friendship from this point on.
  • Lazy Bum: Tends to slink into his sleeping bag and sleeps whenever he has the opportunity.
  • The Mentor: To Himiko - it's implied that he is the one who taught her how to quietly sneak around, and he's shown heading out with her during the internships, implying that he owed Recovery Girl a favor by taking her on.
  • Papa Wolf: When the Villain Consortium makes it clear that they are at the USJ to hurt the students, Aizawa immediately leaps into action to rain hell down on them.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Aizawa has a hardass attitude, and uses logical ruses to troll them. However, unknown to him, this is Deconstructed when it comes to Izuku - he initially thinks that Izuku is some glory seeker upon viewing his Entrance Exam performance, but is caught flatfooted when Izuku unknowingly reveals that he does need the Full Gauntlet to control his quirk when Aizawa throws him into his tests without it.
  • Stern Teacher: Very strict and willing to expel students should they not live up to his standards. His conversation with Nezu suggests that he does reinstate them, however.

    Recovery Girl

Chiyo Shuzenji — Recovery Girl

Quirk: Heal

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c_chara_main28_1.png
Youthful Heroine

The school's resident nurse. Her Quirk, "Heal", speeds up the recovery of injuries of her patients.

  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: She's the one who keeps Himiko in line, usually with chops to the head with her cane.
  • Good Is Not Soft: She's ordinarily quite kind, but will bluntly tell her students about the injuries they get and how they will impact them going forward.
  • Fan Disservice: The kisses she uses to activate her quirk are quite revolting. Izuku spends the first time she healed him with her quirk screaming in horror.
  • Healing Hands: Her Quirk lets her heal through kisses, to Izuku's horror when he realizes how exactly he was going to be healed.
  • Intimate Healing: As mentioned, her quirk is activated by smooching the injured patient.
  • The Medic: She's the school nurse with the power to heal.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: One of the oldest members of the faculty and one of the shortest.
  • Running Gag: Everytime Himiko goes overly flirtatious with the patients or wears one of her Hospital Hottie outfite, Recovery Girl whacks the girl with her cane. This never seems to stop Himiko from doing it again, though.
  • Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: She doesn't quite care for niceties most of the time - if you do something stupid, expect to be bludgeoned with words or a cane.

    Tenko Shimura

Tenko Shimura — Tenko

Quirk: Decay

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tenko_2_7.png

A teaching assistant at U.A. who All Might asks for help regarding Izuku's Quirk. His Quirk, "Decay", lets him destroy anything his five fingers touch to dust.

  • Adaptational Dye-Job: In-Universe example. His hair still became white when his Quirk manifested, but he dies it black weekly, altough the roots are still white.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Was found by All Might before All for One could get his hands on him, and, growing up with Gran Torino, became a heroic young man working at U.A. as a teaching assistant.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Went from villainous revolutionist with no regard for human life to a kind and compassionate teaching assistant, in addition to a hero nerd. Justified since this Tenko was rescued before All for One could corrupt him.
  • Badass Cape: His hero costume includes a long white cape, no doubt a homage to his grandmother Nana.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: His ability is still being able to turn anything he touches into dust, but since he was saved by All Might, he uses it to help Thirteen during rescue missions.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Tenko is a very nice and kindhearted person, but seeing his mentor Thirteen mortally wounded at the USJ, prompts him to launch a massive Decay wave against the villains that injured her.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Tenko acts as this to Izuku, hearing him out about his Quirk's past, opening up to the young man with his own, and generally advising him on how to use his Quirk. He later serves as this to all of Class 1A, being closer in age to them than the rest of the teachers and striking up a good rapport with them.
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Izuku bond during their first meeting due to both of them being hero nerds, a shared love for everything All Might, and a past of being traumatized by their own Quirks.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's a pale man with the ability to disintegrate anything he touches whose primary wardrobe is black. He's also unambiguously a hero in this universe.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Tenko steps in to prevent Iguchi from muzzling and cuffing Bakugo to a pillar during the awards ceremony when the Commission agent attempts to restrain the student.
  • Heroic Lineage: His grandmother was Pro Hero Nana Shimura, and he was even saved by Nana's successor and apprentice, who is pretty much her adopted son and inspired him to become a hero, despite his destructive Quirk.
  • Mythology Gag: He is a major gamer, much like in early canon. Altough he does not frame everything with game metaphors like his canon counterpart, he spends night-long hours playing online. Sometimes Hana and All Might have to drag him to his room when he gets too tired.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: He is a Pro Hero and major video game fan. In fact, Tenko's original hero name, "Duststorm", was a reference to the lyrics to Vergil's theme song, Bury the Light, because he intended to be the storm that approached.
  • Story-Breaker Power: His Quirk is incredibly destructive and it would make the lives of the villains attempting to hurt him very complicated. Which is why he was called in to Nezu's office and was out of the USJ during the Invasion.

    Midnight

Nemuri Kayama — Midnight

Quirk: Somnambulist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/midnight_7.png

The S&M-themed pro heroine. She teaches Modern Hero Art History.

  • Bearer of Bad News: She's the one who tells Izuku and Ochako that they were removed from the Sports Festival for their safety, and gives Recovery Girl the opening to talk about Izuku's cellular degeneration.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She tends to stay in character while on the job, strutting around and making teasing remarks to her students, but is still a fantastic teacher who looks out for her kids.
  • Butt-Monkey: Her experience refereeing at the Sports Festival is rather rough for her, what with being frozen by Shouto, blasted off her podium by Katsuki's blast, having her orders ignored by Izuku, getting knocked off the podium again by Shouto and Nejire's quirks combining, and then washed away by the massive water slide Shouto created with his fire and ice, causing her to be covered in mud. It's pretty clear that she's not happy with any of them by the end of the day.
  • Cool Big Sis: Somewhat acts as this for Class 1A, gently comforting Ochako and Itsuka while they worried about Izuku following his brutal beatdown, and reaches out to Itsuka the following morning to check up on her.
  • Good Stepmother: Is implied to be this in the Flash Forward to Izuku, who confirms to Eri that she reached out to him about how much trouble she was in.
  • Mama Bear: Arrives along with the other pro heroes to help Class 1A escape the USJ, and is specifically noted to carry Itsuka and Ochako out of the facility. She specifically was against Aizawa's plan to use Izuku and Ochako for Katsuki's development, only relenting when deciding to trust Aizawa, and when it inevitably backfired, she both reamed Aizawa and herself over the coals for it.
  • My Greatest Failure: Upon realizing how unrepentant Aizawa is over projecting his own resentment grief over Oboro's death onto his students, Nemuri admits that if she had the chance to go back in time, she would stop herself from convincing Aizawa to become a teacher.
  • Not So Above It All: The seductive and flirty Midnight gets caught extremely off guard when Hisashi Midoriya inadvertedly asks her out on a date, and is flustered but happy to go and get changed so that they could go together. Not that Hisashi notices.
  • Second Love: Is revealed in the Flash Forward to be this to Hisashi.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Her hero costume is a BDSM outfit made of a cloth easy to tear, which allows her to use her quirk more easily. Several people lampshade her odd choice in costumes.
Izuku (while defending why he put 'sexy' down in Mt. Lady's note): Some heroes like - like her might have brand deals and will act as models - you know, like Midnight.
Ochako: You’re trying to assure me weren’t thinking of anything perverted, and you decide to use Midnight as an example?
Izuku: Er ... yeaaaah ... she’s ... not a good example to use, is she?
    Ochako: Nope, not at all.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: She's mentioned to still be around in the second Flash Forward, an implied ten years after the events of the manga, confirming that she managed to avoid her canon self's fate.
  • The Tease: She spent most of her therapy sessions with the members of Class 1A following the events of the USJ invasion teasing them, with Itsuka being an unfortunate victim to Midnight's teasing.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Her reaction when Mei turns her match against Izuku and Ochako in a commercial. Doubles down because is technically her fault since she was the one to allow Mei to bring the inventions for the fight to begin with. Also has this reaction when she gets washed away by Shouto's fire melting the ice into water.
"Oh, you've gotta be shitting me -!"

    Present Mic

Hizashi Yamada — Present Mic

Quirk: Voice

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hizashi_yamada_anime_action_1.png

U.A.'s English teacher.

  • Anime Hair: His hair is three times bigger than his head, and stands above his own head.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's often made fun of by his students, and even Aizawa gets him to scream like a little girl with no one surprised or concerned.
  • Combat Commentator: Provided a running commentary on the events of Izuku's entrance exam, screaming how much time they had left over the intercom.
  • Disappointed in You: While he never says it out loud, it's clear from his attitude towards Aizawa during the second day of the Festival that his friend's harsh comments to Midnight deeply hurt him as well.
  • Dumbass DJ: He can be obnoxiously loud, especially in comparison to Aizawa.
  • Large Ham: Tends to be very loud no matter what the situation is.
  • No Indoor Voice: His quirk's all about being loudmouthed. The Sports Festival's commentary supplied by him has him speak in all capitals, indicating he's screaming all of his lines.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: His reaction to when Aizawa drops a spider on his hand is to scream loud enough for the whole campus to hear. And is implied that he did not used his Quirk to do so.
  • Totally Radical: Hurls slangs and makes gestures that makes it seem like he's trying to fit in with his students, when it only makes them cringe.

    Thirteen

Anan Kurose — Thirteen

Quirk: Black Hole

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/no_13.png

A woman in a spacesuit who is known for working with disaster relief, and Ochako's personal hero. Nicknamed "Space Hero No. 13", she works as a teacher at U.A. that overlooks the rescue exercises.

  • All-Loving Hero: There's a reason she's the one teaching kids how to use their power for good - she outright believes any power can be used to save lives, and that saving lives is their natural use.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: It's mentioned that she is aroromantic.
  • Badass in Distress: Like canon, Kurogiri critically injures her during the USJ Arc by reflecting the effects of her Quirk back at her through his power.
  • Big Sister Mentor: Acts as this to Tenko, who shadows her as her teaching assistant and is shown to tease and play around with him a bit. When he sees her critically injured at the hands of the Villain Consortium, Tenko responds by throwing a massive decay wave at the villains.
  • The Faceless: In most of her appearances, we never see any part of her underneath her costume. It isn't until Chapter 42 that she reveals her real face to Eri in an effort to make her more comfortable around her.
  • Powered Armor: Her spacesuit is designed to keep her black holes under control.

    Nezu

Principal Nezu

Quirk: High Specs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/principal_3.png

The principal of UA High School.

  • Animal Superheroes: Naturally, as being a hero is one of the requirements for one to become a teacher at UA, and he is a bear mouse ... something.
  • Big Good: Due to his position as principal of UA, he's this to his students.
  • Character Filibuster: He is prone to go into mumblings about certain subjects, specially tea, and if there is nobody else in the room, this can go for hours.
  • Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Some kind of animal, but wears clothes just like a human.
  • Intellectual Animal: Thanks to his quirk, he's actually smarter than any human.
  • Nice Guy: He's a pleasant, kind and trustworthy individual. Even his attempt to have Itsuka step out of the sports festival was not out of malice, but concern for her and Eri.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's nice, smart, and trustworthy, enough to be one of the few people that knows about the true nature of All Might's quirk. When meeting with Itsuka to discuss having her step out of the sports festival, he makes it clear that he will not force her to step out, as he acknowledges that the festival is quite important for her growth as a hero, and presents his points in a fair, reasonable manner. When they find a work around in having Itsuka dye her hair for the day, he is enthusiastic and gladly allows the compromise, while also taking steps to ensure that Eri will be protected no matter what.
  • Rugged Scar: Has one on his right eye.
