Main

     Striker

One of the main characters, member of I.M.P. and Jake's father.

  • The Ace: Much like in canon, Striker has many abilities and talents, and is seen as the most valuable member of I.M.P. by Blitzo.
  • A Boy and His X: His horse, Bombproof, is his closest friend and most trusted confidant.
  • Action Dad: He'll run straight into battle and face people head-on if Jake is in trouble.
  • Adaptational Achilles Heel: His son Jake. He'd do anything to ensure his safety and wellbeing.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: He's notably toned down from a psycho killer to a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, being portrayed as a loving (though strict) father and loyal friend.
  • Affectionate Nickname: He's often called Strikes by Blitzo and Millie. Jane called him by his real name, Clayton.
  • Arch-Enemy: Travers.
  • Big Brother Bully: Downplayed. He acts like this towards Moxxie most of the time, though he is genuinely fond of him even if he'll never admit it. Tones down considerably after season 1.
  • Blinded by Rage: Striker attacks Travers savagely when he finds him strangling Jake to the point he isn't thinking clearly, allowing Travers to knock him out.
  • The Big Guy: Out of all the members of I.M.P. he's the physically strongest, rivaled only by Blitzo.
  • Born in the Saddle: He was born on Wrath, after all.
  • Bound and Gagged: Travers ties him up in the basement and gags him with his scarf after knocking him out.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: As in canon, he started out bullying Moxxie when they met, but later opens up to him and is genuinely impressed by Moxxie's extensive knowledge of weapons.
  • Character Development: In Truth Seekers, he's forced to face his demons and unknowingly ends up crying for real while in the middle of the hallucination. He admits to Blitzo and Moxxie that while he appears strong, the truth is that he's been bottling up his grief for years for Jake's sake, and opens up to them regarding his insecurities for the first time ever. Later on, after witnessing Jake fighting against the humans by himself, Striker is reminded of his wife and, realizing that Jake is ready for it, lets him keep Jane's blessed pistol. In other words, he's starting to open up to his friends and has come to accept that Jake is growing up.
  • Chick Magnet: Striker's suave persona, charisma, and good looks are attractive to ladies. Verosika Mayday is physically attracted to him because of this, enabling him to reach an agreement regarding the parking spot.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: He and Jane met as children when he helped her fight against some bullies and then she tended to his wounds.
  • The Comically Serious: Striker has a no-nonsense attitude and doesn't find the others', especially Blitzo's, shenanigans funny at all.
  • Cowboy: Fits the bill
  • Cruel to Be Kind: He openly chastises Moxxie for his hesitation in shooting the target in the photo, even threatening to throw him out of the window if he doesn't do so, because he knows this can put the team in harm's way in a life-or-death situation. He's trying to help Moxxie his own way.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Striker was orphaned at twelve years old and sent to an orphanage in Dis. Eventually, he caught local Overlord Bathory's eye and was taken in to be part of her personal guard, where he had to endure a brutal training. During his time under her service, Bathory sexually and emotionally abused him. Years later, he had to cut his son out of Jane's womb after she was mortally wounded by an exterminator, which further left emotional scars on him.
  • Death Glare: Whenever he's glaring at someone, the green rings around Striker's pupils thicken. Whoever receives one of these knows not to push their luck.
  • Disappeared Dad: Striker never met his father and Amelia never spoke about him. The reason is that his father Deathslinger was a member of the Deadly Court, and Amelia feared that any association with him might put a target on Striker's back.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • As much as Striker loves picking on Moxxie, he will never interfere with his marriage to Millie. Sure, he might flirt with her sometimes, but he makes it clear that it's nothing but playful and he will never go beyond that. It's most likely because he's a widower who was devoted to his wife.
    • Striker's normally not picky when it comes to the reasons clients want their targets dead, but when he comes across one that wants IMP to kill his daughter so he can have sex with her, he throws it out without a second though.
  • Father's Quest: His primary goal is to keep his son Jake safe from harm.
  • Friendly Rivalry: with Blitzo, sometimes even betting over who can kill more people as shown in Loo Loo Land and Truth Seekers.
  • Good Parents: Jake's wellbeing is always foremost in Striker's mind.
  • The Gunslinger: Pistols and rifles are his weapons of choice, and he's very good with them.
  • Hidden Weapons: Striker's knife is often hidden in his boot.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: He's got two angelic weapons, a rifle and a pistol, which can kill demon royalty as well as regular ones. He cherishes them very much because they used to belong to his late wife Jane.
  • Horseback Heroism: His main mode of transportation is his horse, Bombproof.
  • House Husband: Striker does most of the house chores such as cooking, cleaning, etc. Justified, given that his wife is dead.
  • I Gave My Word: Striker is a man of his word and doesn't make promises he can't, or doesn't intend, to keep. In Murder Family he promises to pummel Moxxie when they get out of trouble for getting them into it in the first place. Once they rescue the others from Martha, Striker punches Moxxie, saying he keeps his promises.
  • Indy Hat Roll
  • Jerkass/Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Striker zigzags between the two on a constant basis, particularly towards Moxxie.
  • Knight Templar Parent: Never bring harm unto Jake, be it directly or indirectly, or Striker will make you wish you were dead.
  • Lies to Children: In Mom Striker tells Jake that his mother died of illness when he was a baby, but it's implied that he's hiding the actual cause of her death from him.
  • Momma's Boy: Of the positive variety. Striker was very close to his mother Amelia before she died.
  • Mounted Combat: He can shoot his rifle or pistol on horseback and hit the target even from a considerable distance at full gallop. This is lampshaded by Jake and shown by Striker himself in Vol. 9 during the Nightmare Derby.
  • The Mourning After: It's implied that he hasn't had any sex ever since his wife died, as he masturbates with porno magazines and openly rejects Verosika when she tries seducing him.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Subverted. He's not portrayed as an enemy, unlike canon, but he is the most serious and professional member of I.M.P. and is often annoyed by the others' shenanigans.
  • Number Two: Unnoficially, but Striker is the one who takes charge when Blitzo is unavailable or distracted by something.
  • Only I Can Make It Go: Striker insists that Bombproof will only let him ride it, and he's right. He's genuinely impressed by anyone who proves otherwise.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: His real name is Clayton, but only Jane and his late mother called him this. Everybody else just calls him Striker. After the events of Truth Seekers, they occasionally call him by his real name.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Striker is known for being able to keep a cool head during a fight. However, upon finding Jake being suffocated by Travers he sees red and becomes unable to think clearly as he stabs him multiple times while trying to protect Jake. This allows Travers to get the upper hand and knock him out.
  • Papa Wolf: Striker is very protective of Jake and will put his safety before anything else. In Vol. 9 he stabs Travers multiple times after finding him strangling Jake in an attempt to protect his son.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Striker begs this to Jane after she's fatally injured by an angelic weapon, but sadly she does pass away.
  • The Promise: He promised Jane that he'd keep their son safe and Jake that he'd always be there for him.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Striker is a loving, though strict, father.
  • Secret-Keeper: Striker has never told Jake the true circumstances of his mother's death. Likewise, he kept his membership of the Deadly Court a secret from his co-workers.
  • Seduction-Proof Marriage: Played with. Despite being a widower, it's implied that Striker hasn't had any sex ever since Jane passed away out of respect for her memory.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Striker feels guilty for Jane's death even though she was the one who asked him to cut her womb open in order to save their unborn son despite knowing it would kill her.
  • Trauma Button: When Bathory gets a little too close to him in The Blood Countess, Striker nearly has a panic attack right in front of her, having to be dragged out of the room by Blitzo and the others.
  • Tragic Keepsake: His blessing-tipped weapons used to belong to his late wife Jane. To this day, he still keeps them in good shape, only using them occasionally. He gifts the pistol to Jake at the end of Truth Seekers.
  • Team Dad: He often acts as this for the rest of I.M.P. contrasting with Moxxie's Team Mom. He even lampshades this in Truth Seekers.
Striker: I swear to Satan, you two are worse than a three-year-old impling throwin' a tantrum! Sometimes I feel like I am the only adult here!
  • The Dragon: He was this to Overlord Countess Bathory during his youth.
  • The Strategist: From his experience as an assassin, Striker prefers researching about the target and then making a plan before executing a job. This doesn't mean he can't come up with a plan B when plan A doesn't work, however.
  • Tough Love: Striker is not openly affectionate and might seem standoffish to other people, but he has a soft side that only Jake and those he thinks of as friends ever see.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: He first proposed to Jane during a job, right in the middle of a shooting. He made a second, more proper, and romantic proposal later.
  • Weapon Twirling: Often does this with his knife or pistol.

     Jake

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jake_96.jpg
Jake's age chart up to nine years old.

Striker and Jane's only son.

  • A Boy and His X: With his horse Mortifera, whom he saved and befriended in his teens.
  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: In Spring Broken he gets drunk alongside Moxxie and doesn't realize the danger when the monstrous fish comes out of the water and eats them.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Often receives this from Striker, Blitzo, Millie and nearly everybody else.
  • A Mistake Is Born: Played with, then averted. While Striker didn't want a child in the beginning, he eventually assimilated the idea and became a good father, especially after his wife's death.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Jake acts as this towards Moxxie and loves picking on him.
  • Assassination Attempt: An anonymous pony delivered as a present nearly got Jake killed. Striker and Blitzo later find barbed wire under the saddle, revealing that someone deliberately tried to get Jake killed.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: He's the youngest member of I.M.P. and is often babied because of it, much to his chagrin. He finally manages to show his skills in Truth Seekers by singlehandedly killing a large number of D.H.O.R.K.S. agents.
    • The babying tones down considerably in season two as he's now thirteen.
  • Cheerful Child: In all of his appearances, Jake has been portrayed as a happy, likable and (sometimes) friendly boy.
  • Constantly Curious: One of his main traits given his young age. This tones down from season two onward as he grows into his teens.
  • Country Cousin: J Ake is this to his cousin Alice, who lives in Imp City.
  • Fluffy Tamer: He saved a wild, violent hellhorse—his horse Mortifera—from being put down and tamed her with kindness, earning her undying loyalty.
  • Go to Your Room!: Striker sends Jake to his bedroom in Mom even though Jake did nothing wrong. Needless to say, Jake cries himself to sleep. Striker does apologize the next day, though.
  • Hidden Depths: Truth Seekers shows Jake's serious, more capable side as he accompanies Loona and Millie to save the others.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Jake has never gone to school. Instead, Striker was the one to teach him how to read and write.
  • I Want My Mommy!: Daddy, in his case.
  • Kid Sidekick: to his father Striker.
  • Like Father, Like Son: He has a striking resemblance to his father, both physical and in personality. This is how Travers figures that Striker is Jake's father without asking directly.
  • Missing Mom: Jake never knew nor even heard about his mother because Striker found it too painful to speak about her. He finally learns about her in Mom, with Striker telling him that she died from an illness when Jake was a baby. However, it's implied that this is not the real cause of her death. It's later revealed that Jane was wounded fatally by an Exterminator, forcing Striker to perform a c-section on her to save their child's life.
  • Mouthy Kid: Sometimes he talks a little too much, which gets him and the others into trouble.
  • Not Growing Up Sucks: Striker and the rest of I.M.P. often hide mature-themed topics and things from Jake, to the latter's chagrin. Highlighted in Spring Broken when Striker blindfolds Jake so he won't see the human orgy all around him.
    • Subverted from season two onward, as Jake is now a teenager.
  • Oh, Crap!: He gets this reaction whenever he gets into trouble.
  • Plot Allergy: Helluva Dad Drabbles reveals that he's allergic to all types of nuts. The slightest amount causes him severe anaphylaxys.
  • Shooting Lessons From Your Parents: Striker taught him how to use a pistol, as shown in Drabbles.
  • Tagalong Kid: Jake always, always, accompanies his dad on jobs to the Living World.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Jake has a striking resemblance to his father Striker.
  • You Are Grounded!

I.M.P.

     Blitzo

  • Drives Like Crazy: He's shown to be a terrible driver, even causing Jake to throw up in Verosika's face.
  • Honorary Uncle: He considers himself this to Jake, even referring to himself as 'Uncle Blitz'. Jake occasionally calls him this when he's not listening.
  • The Leader: Of I.M.P.

     Moxxie

     Millie

  • Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder: Somewhat played with
  • Always Someone Better: Deathslinger is able to incapacitate Millie, who singlehandedly wiped out Crimson's best goons, showing just how far out of her league he is.
  • Amicable Exes: She had an amicable relationship with her ex-boyfriend Travers until she learned that he was planning to kill Stolas.
  • Differing Priorities Breakup: She mentions that the main reason she and Travers broke up was that they wanted different things: whereas Travers expected Millie to be a stay-at-home housewife, she wanted to do something else with her life.
  • Parental Substitute: She acts as a maternal figure of sorts to Jake and is notably protective of him.
  • The Heart: She's the most understanding and caring of I.M.P. She was the first to notice Striker's odd behavior when they visited Dis, and also the first to comfort him.

     Loona

Secondary Characters

     Jane

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jane_redesign_small1_0.png
She was my best friend, my killin' partner, and the love of my life.

  • Action Girl: Lampshaded by Striker, who mentions that she was a remarkable fighter and gunslinger during the time they worked together.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: She's only briefly mentioned in Vol.2 and not formally introduced until Mom. Jake doesn't even know about her until the former.
  • Arranged Marriage: Her hand was promised to another imp of her same social standing against her will. Thankfully, Striker crashed the ceremony and stole Jane.
  • Black Sheep: Jane was wild, free-spirited, and hated restrictions, unlike her withdrawn, submissive, and proper-behaved sisters and mother.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She and Striker knew each other from childhood. She's of the few who call him by his real name, Clayton.
  • Child Marriage Veto: She didn't want to marry her chosen husband, but the ceremony went on ahead anyway. Thankfully, Striker stole her from the altar before it was complete.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Her father Gustav never liked Striker for his daughter because of his status as a 'plebian'.
  • Death by Childbirth: Played with. She didn't exactly die in childbirth, but she died when Jake was born. Striker had to perform a c-section on her to save their unborn child.
  • Disinherited Child: It's implied by Striker and Travers that Jane got disowned by her father after she eloped and got married to the former. She didn't seem to have cared, though.
  • Disney Death: Downplayed. Jane was reborn in Heaven as a Cherub due to her selfless sacrifice to save her unborn child, but none of the characters are aware of this.
  • Forbidden Love: With Striker. Her family didn't approve of him because of his lower status and they had to meet in secret as kids. Her eventual elopement and marriage with him caused her to be cut off.
  • Good Girls Avoid Abortion: She outright refused to abort when she learned she was pregnant with Jake, as she had always wanted to have her own children. This led to a temporary fallout with Striker, who at the time wasn't open to the idea of kids.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In par with Mama Bear. Jane knew that it was either her or the baby, and she asked Striker to save their child despite knowing it would kill her. Even in her last moments, she was literally willing to die so that her son could live. This act of motherly love allowed her to be reborn as a Cherub.
  • Imperiled in Pregnancy: Jane was out in town alone in her third trimester right when the annual purge took place before time. Striker went to save her, but she still got fatally wounded by an exterminator.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: Played with. Gustav considered her unworthy alongside her sisters for the simple fact of being a woman. Years after disowning her, though, he admits to Striker that she might have been the worthiest of his three daughters to inherit all of his wealth.
  • The Lost Lenore: Despite her absence, she still plays an important part in Striker and Jake's lives.
  • Marry for Love: Her marriage to Striker, her childhood friend.
  • Runaway Fiancée: Striker interrupted the wedding ceremony and stole Jane on the spot.
  • Surprise Pregnancy: Despite wanting children, she was not expecting to become pregnant so soon, as she and Striker had agreed to use protection until they thought 'the time was right'.
  • Traumatic C-Section: Knowing that she's not going to make it, Jane asks Striker to save their unborn child by cutting open her womb despite knowing this would kill her.
  • Tomboy: One of her main traits.
  • Unwillingly Girly Tomboy: Jane, a free-spirited and strong woman, was forced to wear dresses and behave 'like a proper lady' during her childhood and teen years. She'd often tear the dresses apart when playing with Striker. Naturally, she's not happy when she's unable to tear off her newfound dress in Heaven.
  • Uptown Girl: Jane comes from the Brisont family, one of the few Imp clans in Hell that are wealthy and powerful. Unlike her family, however, Jane never looked down upon her fellow Imps.

     Bombproof

  • The Confidant: to Striker.
  • Cool Horse
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His main color is dark gray, but he's part of the good guys.
  • Empathy Pet: Bombproof's bond with Striker is so strong that they can tell what the other is feeling or thinking. Striker can even tell what Bombproof means to say even if he doesn't talk.
  • A Friend in Need: As Striker's closest friend, Bombproof will often be the first to come to his aid. In vol.10 He was the one who alerted Stolas that I.M.P. was in trouble on Earth, and happily greeted his owner with a nuzzle on the cheek.
  • Hellish Horse: He is a Hellhorse, after all.
  • Horse of a Different Color: His mane and tail are made of red and yellow flames.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: Strong, smart and with more common sense than most other main characters.
  • Invulnerable Horses: Being a Hellhorse, Bombproof is highly resistant to damage and often aids his master during shootings and other situations which would hurt or even kill a common horse, such as jumping from a great height.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: to Striker, whom he's known since they were both young.
  • Made of Iron: Has great endurance and strength.
  • Moody Mount: Subverted. He's docile and obedient towards Striker but hostile to everyone else. The only exceptions are Jake and the rest of I.M.P except Blitzo.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: The only member of I.M.P. who's not an Imp, but a Hellhorse.
  • Only the Chosen May Ride: Only Striker and Jake can ride Bombproof. Everyone else–mostly Blitzo– will receive a kick, bite or fiery breath if they try it. He does accept people, though reluctantly, when Striker is on the saddle.
  • Team Pet: I.M.P.'s unofficially.
  • Rearing Horse: Striker often makes him do this pose.
  • Undying Loyalty: There's nothing Bombproof wouldn't do for Striker, even risk his life.

     Mortifera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mortifera_small.png

Jake's horse.

  • The Alleged Steed: Played with. While not old and frail, her violent temper and tendency towards killing her handlers nearly got her put down until Jake saved her.
  • Cool Horse: Smart, fast and with a nasty temper. She has many eyes in her flank—reminiscent of Appaloosa spots—that allow her to see behind her.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her coat is mostly black, and has a fearsome reputation, but she's loyal to Jake.
  • The Dreaded: She was this back in her previous ranch.
  • Hellish Horse: Not only literally, but also in personality before Jake saved her.
  • Horsing Around: She will react violently to being whipped or mistreated.
  • Meaningful Name: Her previous name was 'Deathrow' because all who went an inch near her were brutally killed. Jake renamed her 'Mortifera'—Spanish for 'deadly'—after taming her.
  • Moody Mount: Played with. Mortifera is openly hostile to people. Even Striker—an experienced horseman—has to be careful around her. However, with Jake she's like a big teddy bear.
  • Only the Chosen May Ride: Having being mistreated in her previous ranch, she won't allow just about anyone to ride or approach her. Even after Jake tamed her, she allows only him to ride her or even touch her.
    • Through gentle efforts, Mortifera eventually warms up to Striker enough to let him approach and touch her.
  • Undying Loyalty: She'd do anything for Jake, who was the first person to treat her with kindness.

     Amelia Velkan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amelia_7.jpg

Striker's late mother.

  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Striker was very close with his mother and has fond memories of her to this day.
  • Doting Parent: Was a loving, caring mother to her son Striker.
  • Good Parents: Striker's wellbeing was always Amelia's priority, offering him love and support.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Amelia sacrificed herself by distracting the Exterminators to lure them away from her son.
  • Housewife: She took care of most of the house chores. Striker would help from time to time, though.
  • Mama Bear: Amelia was willing to give her life to save her son from the yearly Extermination.
  • One-Night-Stand Pregnancy: How Striker was conceived. Afterward, Amelia quit her job at Ozzie's and fled to Wrath without ever telling Deathslinger.
  • Secret-Keeper: Amelia never told Striker who his father was, nor did she tell Deathslinger that he had a son.
  • Struggling Single Mother: Being a single mother with no family to get support from, Amelia had to raise her child Striker by herself.

     Alice Brisont

One of Gustav's granddaughters, and Jake's cousin. Made her debut in Exes and Oohs.

Antagonists

     Gustav Brisont

Wealthy landowner, Patriarch of the Brisont Clan, and Jane's father, which makes him Jake's maternal grandfather.

  • Abusive Parents: Though he never physically hurt his daughters, he made them feel unwanted and unworthy just because they were born women. He was particularly hard on Jane because she was strong-willed and stood up to him.
  • Doting Grandparent: Surprisingly, he's supportive of Alice's unlady-like hobbies and even gifted her a horse.
    • Additionally, he once tried to gift Jake a pony. Sadly, it ended badly when Jake almost got killed and Striker and Blitzo discovered a barbed wire under the pony's saddle
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Exes and Oohs, Gustav covers Alice's eyes as the dildos appear on the walls, insisting that she should not see such things until she's married, but then calls Striker out for doing the same thing with Jake, a 'man'. This makes his misogyny and double standards evident.
  • I Have No Son!: He disowned Jane after she eloped with Striker. Drabbles and Exes and Oohs implies that he's regretful of this, though.
  • I Want Grandkids: Or more specifically, grandsons. Naturally, he's was beyond happy when he learned of Jake.
  • Love-Obstructing Parents: He was against Jane getting together with Striker and did everything he could to keep them apart, even trying to force Jane to marry someone else. Needless to say, he failed.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Had— and still has—a hostile relationship with Striker, his son-in-law. The two can't be in the same room without hurling insults at each other.
  • Parental Marriage Veto: He was against Jane getting together with Striker because he was of a lower social class.
  • Parental Favoritism: Despite having never met Jake in person, Gustav named him his universal heir for being his only male grandchild.
  • Straw Misogynist: He doesn't consider any of his daughters to be worthy of inheriting all of his fortune for the mere fact that they're women. He does eventually admit that Jane was the worthiest of his three daughters.
  • Wanted a Son Instead: He desired for a son to be his heir, but only got daughters.
  • Why Couldn't You Be Different?: Gustav was disappointed of Jane's independent, tomboyish behavior compared to her sisters. Or so he claimed.

     Travers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/travers.jpg
Guess I'll see ya 'round, Milsie

Experienced Hellhorse wrangler, professional hitman and Millie's ex-boyfriend.

  • Amicable Exes: He and Millie are in good terms despite breaking up, even using their childhood nicknames. Becomes one-sided once Millie learns of Travers's true intentions.
  • Born in the Saddle: It's mentioned that Travers comes from a family of horse breeders and wrangles, which would explain why he's so skilled at horsemanship. His ability rivals that of Striker, a seasoned rider himself, even defeating him at the Nightmare Derby.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Travers has known Millie since childhood, and started dating her at some point.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He might be a selfish, arrogant jerk, but his love for Millie is genuine. He was genuinely hurt when Millie used it against him to distract him, giving Jake a chance to free himself. Additionally, he priorizes the wellbeing of his younger siblings.
  • Foil: to Striker. Both are highly-skilled
  • Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: Male variant. Travers used to date Millie until they broke up for yet-to-be-revealed reasons. However, according to Travers's remarks, this happened one day before the wedding.
  • Love Interest: Millie.
  • Love Will Lead You Back: He hopes that Millie will return to him even though she's married to Moxxie, as shown at the end of Vol. 9.
  • The One That Got Away
  • The Rival: He's this to both Moxxie and Striker. The former for Millie's love and the latter out of mere spite.
  • Villainous Crush: On Millie, whom he still loves.

     Bathory

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bathory_0.png
Speaking of Countess Dracula

An infamous Overlord in Pride and Striker's former mistress. In life, she was the infamous Elizabeth Bathory.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: It's implied that her advances on Striker are not welcome at all. She's obsessed with Striker even after not seeing him for years, and can be quite sleazy about it. She'd baby talk him and call him my little peach because of his pale skin. Striker had no choice but to put up with it because she was his mistress; even years after being free from her, he's still wary and fearful about Bathory.
  • Alpha Bitch: Despite her calm and seemingly pleasant looks, she's a cruel and domineering noble who doesn't take shit from anyone.
  • Bad Boss: Played with. She's prone to physically assaulting servants that displease her in any way, with the most unfortunate ones restocking her blood supply after being tortured by her. However, she does acknowledge their achievements and treats her 'favorites' more fairly.
  • The Baroness: Fits this trope like a glove due to her cruel and domineering personality, beautiful looks and being condescending to men in general
  • Blood Bath: Takes one at least daily as part of her 'beauty treatment'. It's more out of habit than any actual need to keep herself young, though.
  • Blue Blood: Was a noblewoman when she was alive.
  • Control Freak: She's was controlling towards Striker, often forcing him to have sex with her.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Has no trouble with openly harassing her 'favorite pets', no regardless of gender.
  • Does Not Like Men: Is especially scornful and domineering towards men, taking sadistic pleasure in humiliating and physically assaulting. Given the time period in which she was born, it's understandable, as women were considered little more than property during medieval times.
  • Domestic Abuser: She's this to most of the Imps and demons working at her castle. Even her 'favorites', despite not being physically mistreated, are treated as playthings and emotionally abused and verbally berated.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Played straight. Due to her status as an Overlord, Bathory can sexually abuse whoever she lusts for at the time with no consequences at all. Her more frequent victims are men.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Bathory is genuinely fond of children and cute animals, and she keeps her promises (even if she doesn't like it). She also harbors certain sympathy for women who have been abused, humiliated, or otherwise harmed by men.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Has a pair of sharp fangs sticking out from her mouth.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Most of the time she speaks in a fairly informal and semi-reasonable way. However, she becomes physically and aggressively forceful if someone talks back or tries to refuse an order from her.
  • Femme Fatale: Hot vampiress-like Overlord who often recurs to her 'feminine charm' to get what she wants, and then she'll dig her fangs into your neck. Literally.
  • Good Parents: Despite her reputation, she was a good mother to her children while she was alive. Perhaps this is the reason why she's so gentle towards kids in general.
  • Heal It with Blood: It's unclear if drinking blood has any effect on her power whatsoever, or if she just likes the taste.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Cold, blue eyes that turn a blood crimson when she's angry.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Bathory constantly makes snide remarks, never once minding if she'll hurt someone with her words. However, she doesn't seem to notice, or does and doesn't care.
  • Jerkass: If her interactions with Striker are any indication!
  • Lady in Red: Wears a dark crimson dress and certainly qualifies as an evil example.
  • Narcissist: She's still obsessed with her beauty even in Hell. She still takes daily blood baths whenever she believes she's wrinkling (despite the fact that Sinners don't age anymore)l
  • No Sense of Personal Space: She literally likes holding and pampering on her 'guardian dogs'. Striker was one of her favorites to the point she lifted him up when she saw him years after he left her service.
  • One-Man Army: Unsurprisingly, considering that she's an Overlord.
  • Pet the Dog
  • Pointy Ears: Fitting with her vampire persona.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes glow a crimson red when she's angry.
  • Super Smoke
  • The Power of Blood: Bathory seems to retain her belief that blood
  • Terms of Endangerment: she calls Striker my little peach and other pet names even long after he stopped working for her.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Bathory is known to sexually assault servants she feels attracted to as she pleases, Striker being her favorite. This would later cause him a sort of PTSD.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: Fitting a member of European nobility.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: The blood of her victims, just like when she was alive.
  • Unequal Pairing: Had an unequal, one-sided relationship with Striker, her 'favorite' guardian dog and personal bodyguard. Striker had no say in the matter and was forced to comply with her desires.
  • Vampires Are Rich: Has a vampire flair to her and is a rich, powerful Overlord in Hell.
  • Vampires Are Sex Gods

     Deathslinger

Veteran member of the Deadly Court and Striker's biological father.

  • Animal Motifs: Rattlesnakes, much like his son Striker. Fitting, as he is, in fact, a rattlesnake demon. And much like said animal, he bids his time and waits for the right moment to strike to deliver a fatal bite.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: First appeared as a minor character in Drabbles. During his next appearance in Exes and Oohs, he's revealed to be often hired by Crimson as a hitman. He incapacitates Millie on Crimson's orders and engages in a fight with Striker when the latter comes to her aid.
  • Disappeared Dad: He was never around for most of Striker's life. Justified, as he didn't even know he had a son to begin with.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Exes and Oohs, Deathslinger is shown to be strictly professional as he enters Crimson's house after finishing a job. It's not until he delivers the victim's horns to Crimson and formally finishes the job that he finally greets Striker. Later, he doesn't lift a finger to stop Millie from butchering Crimson's men until Crimson formally hires him to kill Millie.
  • Just Following Orders: He doesn't really have anything against Millie. He's just doing the job Crimson hired him for.
  • Mentor Archetype: Lampshaded by Striker in Drabbles: Deathslinger mentored him during his first few months in the Deadly Court.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Deathslinger is not amused by Crimson's newest decorations in Exes and Oohs.
  • Nothing Personal: Lampshaded by Deathslinger himself after incapacitating Millie and nearly killing her.
Deathslinger: It's nothing personal, Striker. I just got hired for a job, that's all.
  • One-Night-Stand Pregnancy: Deathslinger got Amelia pregnant after one night of sex. He never learned of the child, however, as Amelia quit her job at Ozzie's and fled to Wrath.

     Chaz

A shark demon mafioso who happens to be an ex that both Moxxie and Millie once dated before meeting each other.

  • Casanova Wannabe: Chaz doesn't even get to try seducing Striker as the cowboy points a gun at his head as soon as he opens the door, making him back down.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: He drinks his sorrow away after I.M.P.—and by extension, Moxxie—escapes.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Deep down, he's not a bad person. He just wanted a second chance with Moxxie, even if he uses questionable methods to do so. He was genuinely distressed when Deathslinger used Moxxie as a meat shield against Millie and got him stabbed.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He honestly seems to believe that the best way to win Moxxie back is to trick him into returning to his abusive dad and force him into marriage, not understanding why exactly Moxxie is objecting, such as the fact he's already married.
  • Hated by All: Apart from the canon characters' hatred of him, Striker points a gun at Chaz's head before he can try to seduce him, and Deathslinger finds his post-wedding-fiasco 'tantrum' pathetic. Crimson points out that the only reason he's putting up with Chaz's crap is because he needs him to run the Thurman family's angelic weaponry business.
  • Hidden Depths: He's made many mistakes, but Chaz genuinely loves Moxxie, as some of the steps in his 'master plan list' involved winning Moxxie's forgiveness and living 'happily ever after' with him.
  • Marriage of Convenience: He married Moxxie to get into the Knolastname Family—and in the hopes of having a second chance with him— in return for Crimson getting access to the Thurman family's fortune and angelic weaponry business. That being said, he did want a second chance with Moxxie.
  • Manchild: Much like in canon, he also acts like a party-addicted college frat boy. He gets drunk after Moxxie leaves him, which Deathslinger refers to as a 'tantrum'.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Chaz actually survives his debut, as the 'millions' he came into were real in the form of his father's inheritance. He was only broke because he needed to get married to get access to it.
  • The Plan: His 'master plun' is notably different in this adaptation, making it clear that his main motivation isn't just claiming his inheritance—which required that he marries in order to claim it—but getting a second chance with Moxxie.
    1. Tell Crim I found Moxxie
    2. Win Moxxie's forgiveness
    3. Marry Moxxie to get into the Family
    4. Claim my inheritance. Profit $$$
    5. Live happily ever after with Moxxie. Have kids.

Characters featured in the spin-off.

The Caruso Family

     Alessio

The Consigliere of the Knolastname Crime Family and Crimson's right hand shark. After the loss of his beloved wife, he struggles to raise two children on his own while keeping them in the dark about his true occupation.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Crimson, Bianca and most of the family associates often call him 'Ale'. His mother sometimes calls him figlio.
  • The Comically Serious: Alessio's serious, deadpan reactions rarely—if ever—edge into humor.
  • The Consigliere: His role in the Family.
  • Defrosting Ice King: Alessio's main trait is his seemingly-perpetual poker face and no-nonsense attitude when on the job. His wife and children are the only ones that can get him to smile.
  • Family Man: He's a doting, protective father to his two children and was a loving, supportive husband to his wife Bianca.
  • Father's Quest: Alessio's priority is to keep his children safe from harm after he promised it his dying wife, but his job in the Mafia can make this difficult sometimes, especially since they're not aware of it.
  • Good Parents: Unlike his employer Crimson, Alessio is depicted as a loving, devoted father.
  • Happily Married: to Bianca.
  • I Gave My Word: Alessio promised Bianca in her deathbed that he'd keep their children safe from the Mafia he's involved into. A promise he takes very seriously.
  • Interspecies Romance: He, a shark demon, fell in love with his dolphin wife.
  • Lies to Children: Alessio keeps his Mafioso occupation a secret from his children for their own safety, like he promised it to his wife.
  • Momma's Boy: He has a good relationship with his mother, and she occasionally helps him babysit the children.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He's responsible for Giulia's lack of speech by keeping her dolkril shawl hidden from her.
    • On his defense, he's not aware of it. He believes the shawl merely enables his daughter to transform.
  • Number Two: As the consigliere of the Knolastname Crime Family, Alessio is Crimson's right hand man. The trust between the two is such that Alessio occasionally speaks to his boss in equal terms.
  • Papa Wolf: There's no one Alessio won't stand up against to protect his children, not even Crimson.
  • Parental Favoritism: Subverted. Alessio does treat his children equally most of the time, but he sometimes dotes on Giulia a bit more.
  • Parental Substitute: Played with. Alessio was this to Moxxie, as Crimson was not the best father. Even after not seeing Moxxie for so long, Alessio's affection for him never disappeared.
  • Parents as People: Alessio does his best to separate his involvement in the Mafia from his family life, but sometimes it's not enough. Because he's adamant in his children not knowing about his occupation, sometimes they don't understand why he seems to put his work before them, which leads to resentment on Pietro's part.
  • Shark Man: He's a shark demon.
  • Secret-Keeper: Alessio has never told his children about his true occupation to keep them safe. He'd also kept it a secret from Bianca for a long time; both to protect her and because he was afraid she'd leave him.
    • He also keeps Giulia's shawl hidden away from her to keep her safe from poachers.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: He cherishes both his children as Bianca's legacy, but he's a bit more doting on Giulia because of her striking resemblance to his late wife.
  • Unflappable Guardian: Crimson might be the Don, but Alessio is the one that keeps the organization in order. While Ale isn't as ruthless, the subordinates find him even scarier than Crimson, especially when his instructions aren't followed.

     Bianca

Alessio's late wife and mother of his two children. She was a dolkril, a presumably extinct demon species that shapeshifts into a dolphin when she enters the water.

     Pietro

Alessio and Bianca's firstborn son. A 10-year-old shark demon who loves taking care for his little sister.

     Giulia

Alessio and Bianca's youngest daughter, and younger sister of Pietro. She was born a dolphin demon, unlike her older brother, and as such inherited her mother's dolkril powers.
