openNeed help getting a Work page off the ground Videogame
I'm trying to write a page for the game A Noble Circle, but I'm not much of a gamer. I'd really appreciate some help from someone more well versed in video game tropes. I highly recommend the game. It's from the creators of A Dark Room and The Ensign, and in my opinion, it's a little piece of magic. It's available on the App store, and with a bit of dedication, you can play through it in an afternoon. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/ANobleCircle
openDisable replies to my Reviews / permission to delete replies Film
I get a lot of malicious and verbally attacking replies to many of my reviews of movies.
I can't just give a positive review out to every movie there ever was made - I also want to be able to express my own honest opinion of said fictional work. Not everything I write down in my reviews is a fact, I also put down a lot of my own sentiments.
I'm not violating community guidelines when I write these movie reviews down - but I get denigrated a lot by multiple reviewers hostile towards me.
Am I supposed to just ignore their replies or can I also delete their replies to my reviews?
Edited by Khrunwahl02open Unknown cartoon Film
So a while ago I watched this tv show about wizards and fairies. It was a cartoon. The style reminded me of the show, ever after high. It was set at a magic school. I can’t re,ear much but in the first episode, there were a group of girls who entered the magic school and somehow got into a room where they chose a cape or something like it (I forgot) and they had powers. It was kinda like a magic school. Someone please help me I can’t find this show
Edited by XxcherryxxopenNeed Help Editing a Page
See the Shoutouts Page for Fall of Starfleet, Rise of Harmony? I added some new entries, but for some reason, no matter what I did, the entries would come out looking wrong. I was unavailable to edit the page for some time, but I hoped someone would edit it. When I came back, though, my mistakes were not yet corrected.
Thus, all I want to ask is: can someone help me correct the entries on that page, and also advise me on what I did wrong and how to prevent it?
This is the page in question: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ShoutOut/FallOfStarfleetRebirthOfFriendship
openAuthors Saving Throw example?
Author's Saving Throw was removed from YMMV.Star Wars Battlefront II 2017 since this trope only applies to narrative changes. Is that so, and does that mean a new production crew isn't this trope because it doesn't directly effect the in-universe setting?
openAyyubPullin and agenda-based edits.
Ayyub Pullin seems to be doing nothing but making agenda-based edits. Some of which are... relatively harmless, some of which are misguided at best, and none of which are done with an edit reason. The agenda seems to be white-washing American history.
- Errr... gross. Natter to justify state-sponsored murder because some of the ones murdered were Communists. Wow.
- Removing (incredibly neutrally worded) description of some of Reagan's economic policies, boiling down the economics section to "had economic policies."
- Removing "American-backed, which could be considered making the article more neutral.
- Ditto.
- Parabombing to make it a The Dog Shot First situation.
- Surprisingly harmless, considering the page. Just saying Buchanan is considered "one of" the worst presidents, rather than making it an absolute.
- Adding "he's a sexual predator. He did then quickly remove it, so it's a wash.
- Prematurely saying that peace has been established between the Koreas.
- Okay, this one is astoundingly bad. Basically changing any mention negative mention of "right-wing" or "conservative" to something else, including changing "By that time, militant Fascism had evolved and been used by largely conservative and anti-liberal governments to suppress the socialist and communist movements" to "By that time, militant Fascism had evolved and been used by largely left leaning and anti-liberal governments to suppress the socialist and communist movements" which is complete gibberish. He does eventually change that to "Authoritarian," but that's such a nonsensical edit that it merits mention.
- UsefulNotes.TheHolocaust. Oh, don't worry, it's not what you think. No, he's made edits about how "welfare" and "civil rights" were done to enslave black people, and not literal "slavery."
- Ah, standard Alt-Right statistic about how technically Stalin caused more deaths than Hitler.
open Unknown movie !!!! PLEASE HELP Film
This movie is old looking and cartoonish (animated). It’s in color, but it looks likes it’s made in the 1900’s. It is about animals , including pretty sure it’s mostly rats and mice. They are in battle and one side is super evil. The other side In this castle, and there’s some monk looking animal too. He is on the castle side. Hewears a brown robe. There are no humans in this movie. The animals are not exotic animals like lions or cheetahs. They look mostly like regular mice and rats. I think. It also takes place in a woody area. It’s not that well known of a movie. Thanks if you know it !! I Need to know the name of them movie!! Thanks!!
openEdit War on YMMV.GameXplain Web Original
Jamster93 added this example on YMMV.GameXplain:
- The Scrappy: Any person other than Andre and/or Derrick. John, the only Brit, is the biggest case as his voice sounds rather deep.
I removed because it's about real-life people and The Scrappy doesn't allow real-life examples. A week later, they added the same entry with slightly different wording to the to the main page which was removed by Crossover-Enthusiast. Today, Jamster added this entry to the YMMV page:
- The Scrappy: Jon, the Token Brit, due to his deep voice, especially when he talks about news relating to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

YMMV.Genius The Transgression has section headings callings its tropes Problematic...
It doesn't seem like a quirk of Genius: The Transgression pages... So I guess I should change it to be more neutral...
It's addition is so long ago, that it isn't in the History...
openCharacters.XCOM2 page locked
This page is locked for some reason I can't discern, and not explained anywhere hidden in the page source or the Administrivia.Locked Pages page. There are several grammar errors and punctuation flubs that I'd like to fix, IMO too many to keep a mod busy with.
Is is possible to unlock that page for editing, and if not, could someone say why?
openNo Title
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=Wowowow
Troper appears to be going through all the Jurassic Park pages and changing every reference to the T. Rex to "Rexy" even though that term is never used to refer to the animal in the movie.
Can someone do a revert? I tried on Film.Jurassic Park, but I think I mucked up the 's somehow.
openCharacters /VoltronLegendaryDefenderGalraEmpire Western Animation
Does anyone mind if I re-structure this page by leadership and military rank? Quite frankly, to me it's looks like a bit of a mess!!
open Duplicate trope? Music
Neoclassical Punk Zydeco Rockabilly and GenreMashup.Music have the same image, and I'm not sure what the difference between them is. This TRS thread from 2016 suggests Genre Mashup was created as a more general trope for Neoclassical Punk Zydeco Rockabilly (combining existing genres together) to clear up the misuse of Genre-Busting (when a work fits into no genre). This doesn't seem to have completely worked: Haruhi Suzumiya is on both pages with the exact same description.
openRecap pages Anime
I have a quick question: should we use trivia and YMMV pages for Recaps such as One Piece?
openjunkyarddawg told me things... Confirm or deny, please?
Tropers/junkyarddawg said that "'if I were reading the wiki, would I want to read this?" is part of our policy for listing tropes.
EDIT: Meaning that if an entry is boring, policy says it should be removed.
And that Zero-Context Examples are to be deleted...
They're wrong, right? ZCEs are to be kept, but commented out, and only removed when they're confirmed to not actually be in the work?
Edited by MaladyopenReplacement Scrappy
Question about this trope. Does it apply to characters in a spin-off series?
openEdit War on DeaderThanDisco
A particularly persistent ban-evader and Single-Issue Wonk, last dealt with here, has arisen to trouble the Deader Than Disco page once again. They keep posting the same poorly-written Wall of Text about Seth MacFarlane, despite the consensus being established in the Deader Than Disco cleanup thread that he is Not An Example and that consensus being upheld every time the matter comes up.
openMisuse of trope term?
Some people seem to think that Compensating for Something means compensating for being short.
I've seen that link in both Height Angst and Tiny Tyrannical Girl, but I'm pretty sure that's not what it means.
Alex Jones has been recently removed from Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. I just wanted to let everyone know about this in case there are any Dead Links on that page that need fixing (I haven't read the page fully).
Edit: I can confirm that there are in fact a few dead links on that page and its subpages that should be fixed.
