openDefiance to ZCE notice and edit war on BadassGay entry Videogame
I saw this coming from a mile away. Fireboltprime uncommented a folder I originally commented out because its sole trope was a ZCE, then added more tropes "to appease the overlord". Not exactly a bad move, but they did not elaborate on Red Oni, Blue Oni, which is grounds for edit war and non-compliance with Zero-Context Example. Also, they re-added Badass Gay, which I deleted twice because two other tropers added it prior to Fireboltprime. Is it just me, or do most of these tropers come out of the woods, ignorant that Badass Gay has been cut since a while ago? Not to mention that I explicitly stated in my edit reasons that Badass Gay is no longer a trope.
openRude reply to grammar notifier Videogame
Sullytofu is one of those people who keep confusing "its" with "it's" for possessive on their edits. On their latest edit, I fixed and sent them a notifier, only for them to dismiss me with a pretty rude reply.

Five Mass Effect 2 character pages use the invalid namespace MassEffect2AntagonistsAndNpcs/. I know the mods have a tool to move pages while preserving the edit history, and this seems like a good time to use it. Willowleaf24 volunteered here to update the navigation on the Mass Effect character subpages once they're moved.

The character page for Pikmin was getting pretty laggy to edit, so I split it up into several pages like some other character pages I've seen. Never done this before, so I'd like someone to make sure I didn't mess anything up porting the pages over.
Edited by TokoWHopenDo Steam/Xbox/PS achievements count for work pages? Videogame
I was thinking of making a page for House Flipper, and one of the potential tropes I was going to add was an example of Shout-Out due to the Steam achievement for selling to the buyer Gorgio Shanua, which is "I'm Belieber".
Does this count? Since it's technically not in the actual game, but it is directly connected to the game...

openEdit Warring on ''YMMV/DemonsSouls'' Videogame
Yesterday (11/15) I added an entry to the Demon's Souls regarding the reception to the music for the 2020 remake in They Changed It, Now It Sucks!. The general consesus from what I have gathered is that the changes to the music are the area that is seen as changed for the worse due to the music going more into trying to be "epic", which takes away from the setting.
This was what I put originally:
- While the remake has been well recieved for being faithful yet visually amazing, the music is the one area agreed to be changed for the worse. The issue isn't that the remixed music is bad, it is considered epic and great to listen to, but there was a charm to the original soundtrack that fit the game heavily. Now the 2020 remake's music sounds over the top compared to how subdued a number of the original songs were. The Maiden Astraea theme is a good example of this: in the original it was a somber song that was radically different from the rest of the themes in the game, which contributed to why the fight became one of the most remembered fights in the game. The new theme is more dramatic and intense, robbing the fight of the intended Player Punch.
Later Dem Boyz editted the entry for no reason to the following:
- While the remake has been well recieved received for being faithful yet visually amazing, the music has not been as well received. The music is very contenous; with some claiming good but many find it takes away from the heavy orchestra, similar to Bloodborne. That being said, the game's original composer, Shunsuke Kida◊, has remaked on how much loves the newer grandoise take.
Now I didn't think about this and changed it back while adjusting the text a bit to be less Natter, which is edit warring so I made a mistake doing that and should have come here first. After, Dem Boyz changed it back and the message left was "You don't get to decide that".
As it reads now, this is incorrectly using the entry and doesn't actually explain what the issue is very well. Plus it doesn't matter what the original composer said, this is about the players experience. The entry he edited was adjusted by someone else prior to him changing it again, so it seems like only this troper is taking issue with it:
- While the remake has been well received for being faithful yet visually amazing, the music has not been as well received. The soundtrack is grandiose, but many find that it takes away from the somber and bleak atmosphere the game presents, making fights more epic than they actually are. The Maiden Astraea theme in particular is often cited as the biggest offender, as it sounds like it's trying to turn the fight into a grand conflict rather than an unique track.
openChanging video game name to English title Videogame
Following up on Persona 5 Strikers, all the info got confirmed today. But now that the official English title isn't Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, is there a way to change the name on the original page, or do I have to move everything to a new page with a new title?
Edited by snivyTsutarjaopenTrying to Prevent Edit War on ThatOneLevel.SuperMarioBros Videogame
So a few weeks ago, I did a large edit on ThatOneLevel.Super Mario Bros that includee removing either every or nearly every entry that falls into Brutal Bonus Level territory, since those are expected to be hard and are therefore exempt from the trope.
Just a little while ago, a user by the name of KoopaKid17 added a few entries from a few Yoshi games. Nearly every single one of them are Brutal Bonus Level examples that I've deleted before because they are locked off behind 100% Completion of the world they're in and are therefore not required to finish the game.
In order to prevent an Edit War, what would be the best way to go about this situation?
openWizard101 Reference Overdosed Help Videogame
Hi y'all! I recently started a Reference Overdosed page for Wizard101, and need some help finding more references to put there. It has a HUGE amount of them that are seemingly going unnoticed by any community outside of those in the game. Thanks!
open Download link for Scelus’ Path? Videogame
Scelus Path is a game made by Sean Nichols, who made The Last Resurrection. I am interested in it because it looks So Bad, It's Good, but I cannot seem to find a download link or a video about it- the only record of this game existing is the trope page. Can anyone track down a link?
openSamus Aran from Metroid: Soldier or Warrior? Videogame
With regards to the trope Soldier vs. Warrior there is a list of distinguished soldiers and warriors and clashing ideologies listed as examples. If I may submit a question to the more well-read and better-researched Tropers for discussion and consideration:
Is the protagonist of the Metroid series, Samus Aran, as she is currently portrayed in the playable games of the franchise, considered better fitting the Soldier archetype, or the Warrior archetype? Or neither?
I understand that part of her backstory, as depicted in titles such as Other M, as well as in media outside of video games (such as the e-Manga) does place her as a soldier in the Galactic Federation army. However, Other M also depicts that she does get to be a bit headstrong and doubting of orders, with the example given regarding the tragedy of Ian Malkovich's sacrifice by a command decision from Samus's C.O. She may have questioned his order - and her internal monologue reflects this as well - but doesn't disobey his order at all. In this regard, she does - or did - lean towards Soldier.
However, after leaving the Federation, the English canon tells us that she became a "bounty hunter", which we can interpret as just becoming a freelancer and occasional contract mercenary. In Japan, the generally-accepted "closest" translation is "Space Warrior", as she is marked among an elite class of freelancer specializing in missions few can pull off, and in being an expert combatant. However, based on what's in the Soldier vs. Warrior trope page, it doesn't seem like she fits the Warrior archetype much at all. She doesn't really do it for the glory, or to aggrandize herself, or as some test of strength or out of a sense of competition.
But at the same time, she doesn't currently still fit the Soldier role either. She says on occasion that she works alone, by choice, and hasn't worked under direct authority from military C.O.s since leaving the service, with the two exceptions being in Other M and in Metroid Fusion.
So is Samus an example of a zigzagging of this trope? Or some strange deconstruction of it? Or not in this index at all? I'd like to get a well-researched answer, as I just lack the understanding and the nuances of Tropology to really get how to go about answering this.
Thank you ahead of time!

The Western release date for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers got accidentally leaked by a trailer that Atlus uploaded and later took down. I saw the reuploads, and while I'm 99% sure the trailer is legit, what should we do about putting up the release date? I want to wait until Atlus confirms it themselves before we post the date.

Found this intro. I'm I able to post it on Funny /Mortal Kombat 11 Pre Match Intros
Intro starts like this
Sindel: Well, well. What's your price to tango? Rambo: I fight for country, not cash. Sindel: (laughs) How adorably quaint.
Heard the intro & I don't know, but are Sindel & Rambo quoting the 1988 film - Tango & Cash in the opening 2 lines of intro.
Edited by illbebackopenBack and forth on Ymmv/Assassins creed Valhalla Videogame
Now this isnt quite an Edit War per say but we have a very weird back and forth on assassins creed valhalla regarding an Unfortunate Implications entry.
First it was added by Sana Naryon, then derpdonkey added another entry, then it was deleted by Worst Otaku Ever then re-added by Jogarz, then removed by Fenix Darkblade then re-added by Anubis 13. Granted the sources are apparenlty random blog post and random youtube video so I doubt their sourced well anyway but uh that doesnt change the long back and forth that is happening here.

openI wanna trope the Overcooked! series, but... Videogame
I want to add some tropes for the Overcooked! game franchise. I was poking around to see what the series' presence here is, and I found something:
1. Only the second game in the series has a page; there is no page for the whole series/first game, and
2. That page is a stub.
What would be the best way to proceed? Should I try fleshing out the sequel page while adding one for the first game? Since it's a stub, should it be cut and its content incorporated into a potential main page? Something else?
openWMG: this thing will fail Videogame
Do we have a policy against "This work will fail"-type WMGs? There were single examples that were removed, but I'm not sure if that's a go-ahead to remove all such entries on sight.
Edited by TabsopenSpeculative and Unsourced CreatorsPest entry in YMMV/WorldOfWarcraft Videogame
- Creator's Pest:
- Tyrande Whisperwind. Some fans consider her to be this in Blizzard's eyes. There was a Twitter post from lead quest writer David Kosak where he spoke negatively of Tyrande. Further contributing to this is the fact that, despite her status as a faction leader and the pivotal role the night elves have played in the Alliance (inducting the draenei and the worgen along with being the major Alliance presence in Kalimdor and right next door to the Horde's capital), she got increasingly Flanderized and Chickified when she wasn't being kept Out of Focus. Then there was her contentious characterization in Mists of Pandaria. Thankfully Legion provided her with some much needed action and portrayed her in a much more positive light.
This entry seems highly speculative and gives no link to the proclaimed comment by Kosak, google searching even procuring comments where Kosak complimenting Tyrande.
With this in mind, is everyone ok with cutting this entry since its not a creator admitting they dislike the character?
openIs this a valid reason to remove an entry? Videogame
So this troper has removed an entry of Alternate Character Interpretation solely on the base of it being in a short teaser trailer. Is that actually a valid reason?
I feel like the contra mod for cnc generals is unique enough to warrant a page, with its revamped units, tactics, special ranking system lock, and an epic unit for each subfaction, 2 in the case of one general.
So can it be given the green light to create? And if I'm chosen to design it can I get some help?
