To-do list:
- Move examples that fit at least one of the tropes on the Adult Fear disambiguation page, and remove ones that don't.
Now, this trope is supposed to be "anything in a work that could scare level-headed adults and happen in real life", but is often narrowly defined as "children in peril", even when the threat is supernatural- which is not this trope. The image is almost certainly at fault here- tropers see the image of the truck heading at the kid with the caption "every parent's worst nightmare" and instantly get into their heads that Adult Fear = children in peril.
It doesn't help that when we discussed this trope, concerns arose over whether it was redundant with Realism-Induced Horror or similar tropes.
Here is the wick check.

The second one might fit under an eavesdropping trope.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThis trope did get misused a lot. Just cleaned up this "example" on Garfield and Friends:
- Adult Fear: Not necessarily involving children, but "Housebreak Hotel" depicts a very real fear of pet owners - that the pet hotel promising luxurious pampering is actually a pet abusing scam ran more like the city pound than a pet hotel.
Which tropes does these examples fit? (They originated from "Or Something" Series). I'm aware the first one needs to be rewritten lol.
- An interlude chapter, the wife (whomever the reader wants it to be) rushes home after hearing about the White Fang making a retaliatory attack on Jaune and the twins at home while she's away. Don't worry, Beacon drop out or not, Jaune still kicked their asses, with a baby in each arm.
Also apologizes if you get annoyed at me asking this kind of question. I'm not exactly the best at regonizing different tropes.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Neither of them sound like anything to me, the first one in particular is just "characters fear things". It's okay to just cut things outright sometimes.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, if I don't recognize another trope it fits under right away, it's ok to delete the example then?
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Yeah, assume it doesn't go anywhere and move on, lol.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWor, the disambig expanded a lot since the last time I checked it. It's kinda dizzying to look at.
Anyways, most Adult Fear are too general and unfocused ti go anywhere so I would cut must of them outright.

Macron's notesOk, I'll keep that in mind, thank you! I also went ahead to delete the examples and that marks the 24th wick I have cleaned so far.
EDIT: This was originally a reply for WarJay, but I also appreciate the tip, Marcon!

Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Cutegirl920fire: If a child character actually dies, the example should be moved to Outliving One's Offspring.
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.WYDM? If you were referring to that second example of that RWBY fanfic, I think it says it turns out that the kids didn't die cause their dad has been protecting them.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Good to see that the scourge of Adult Fear has been made into a disambig! Just curious if a couple of the tropes I mentioned in my index suggestion post a few months back, because Adult Fear was often used for some of these tropes too:
- Abusive Parents
- And Now You Must Marry Me
- Axes at School
- Bad People Abuse Animals
- Bastard Girlfriend and Bastard Boyfriend
- Boarding School of Horrors
- Brother–Sister Incest
- The Bully
- Bunker Woman
- Child Eater
- Child Soldiers
- Childhood Brain Damage
- Corruption of a Minor
- Creepy Uncle

Can you please put commas in your trope folder? It's pretty hard to read that without commas ngl.
Yeah, that's fine.

Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Sorry I forgot to add bullet points. Better now?
Should entire pages describing Adult Fear be sent to the Cut List?
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.Yes. Make sure to move examples that fit other tropes (if they exist) before cutting though.
Macron's notesManga.Highschool Of The Dead have this one under AF:
- Adult Fear: The first couple episodes are particularly brutal. Scores of teenagers are simply massacred in some of the most horrific ways imaginable with no pathos whatsoever. Imagine you were an adult survivor of whatever zombie attack hit your office, you're able to get home and you learn that your 15-year-old daughters' high school was ravaged. Your worst fears are confirmed when you learn she died slowly in agonizing pain, and not only did she come back to murder others, she was killed AGAIN by friends who knew her since grade school; shedding not one tear or giving not even the slightest shit about killing her again. Yeah. Kids in the first couple episodes are livestock.
… this is just Fridge Horror written in such a way so it's shoehorned into a non-YMMV trope. Also it's a zombie series (I'm familiar with the show). "Civilians becoming zombies and kills people in zombie movies" is Sitting on Chairs. Delete everything?
Yeah, burn it.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."That is extremely not what Chairs means (it's literally a plot convention? it has a purpose?), you can just say it's common for the genre.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Anime.Sakura Quest and Anime.Shirobako — aaaaaand these ones are just "dramatic things happen in a drama".
Adult Fear: Computer artists replacing traditional cell animators is really stressful to the traditionalists, especially to Ryousuke.
- Each of the five protagonists undergoes their own.
- Aoi: Suddenly having massive responsibility thrust upon her.
- Ema: Poor work putting her professional reputation at risk, and struggling to make enough to live on.
- Misa: Being stuck in a career path with no chance for growth or learning.
- Shizuka: Constantly struggling to find work in her preferred field.
- Midori: Being unable to find a professional calling at all.
Adult Fear: As with Shiro Bako, the protagonists have their own issues to deal with:
- Yoshino: About to graduate with no job and no money lined up, and being forced to move back to the country.
- Sanae: Nearly working herself to death in a corporate job, then idling into depression in a freelance job.
- Maki: A childhood interest in acting leading to a fruitless career, eventually quitting in disappointment.
- Shiori: The town she loves fading before her eyes as people age, close shops, and move away.
- Ririko: Living a life of isolation and rejection, with only her overprotective grandmother to talk to.
- Angelica suffers this in Episodes 21-22. Her eldest daughter runs away from home, and her younger son later goes out into a snowstorm to try to get his sister to return home.
The last one's probably The Runaway, but the rest can be easily shredded
I know, getting to them afterwards, cleaning up "other" stuff atm

Feel free to just delete things that don't fit, mate, you only need to bring examples up if you need help deciding what to do with them...
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessUn-wikiwording tropes seems odd to me, so I'll bring this up. Where would this example fit?
- Adult Fear: The little girl Lost Doll who suddenly becomes violent when picked up, the Judgement Boy who forces you to choose between love and money in a quick second, the child Mummy Dog having an axe stuck in his head and yet not realizing it, and if you want to count pets, the story of Neko Zombie.
The trope shouldn't be unwiki-worded, it should be cut entirely.
I think it should be cut, I'm not sure what it's trying to say.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I think it's just listing things that sound scary.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Crown Description:
What should be done with Adult Fear?
Excuse the double post, but what tropes does these examples fall in on Ojamajo Doremi? I'm not super familiar with the work in question but I already moved two other examples beforehand based on the context alone.
