Created by buttercakeee, Funkin' Hellbeats Corruption: Fallen Angels is a recursive mod of both Friday Night Funkin Hellbeats and Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, depicting a variant of the titular Corruption that's spreading rapidly within Hell itself.

Sadly, due to toxic behaviour buttercakeee had to face, alongside other controversy surrounding them, the mod was cancelled due to their overall decision to distance themselves from the FNF Corruption community.

The parts of the series that were completed can be watched here.

This mod contains the following examples:

  • Acceptable Breaks from Canon: Since most of the Hellbeats designs were not public knowledge at the time of the mod's development, most of those seen in this mod are fan-made counterparts befitting to the mod's Central Theme.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Darnell is prominently featured alongside Pico during his week, and Nene would have had an entire week to herself had the mod not been cancelled. As the original Corruption mod was made long before Darnell or Nene were in the base game, they don't appear there.
    • The cutscene between "Devotion" and "Second Coming" shows Evil Boyfriend and another corrupted civilian trading banter between one another, giving the corrupted a bit more personality this time.
    • "Unmanageable" introduces the prospect of seeing the fates of those that are not part of the main cast.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job:
    • The pink highlights of the Corruption are instead orange, with additional details being in yellow.
    • In an odd case, Pico's hair was changed to orange, matching his original counterpart instead of Hellbeats Pico's red hair.
  • Adapted Out: Girlfriend is not present when Monster confronts Boyfriend, so she's spared from the initial attack, with the corruption being spearheaded by Boyfriend alone. As the mod was cancelled before she appeared, she's entirely absent, as are her parents.
  • Adaptational Species Change:
    • While he looks pretty similar to how he does in canon, Whitty's colors make it appear like he's of the spectral nature.
    • Like Pico and Boyfriend, Darnell and Nene have been changed from humans to a demon and a grim reaper, respectively.
  • And I Must Scream: In the glimpse of Boyfriend being partially freed from the Corruption, we can see that he's in tears about his situation, indicating being stuck in some thing controlling your body isn't a happy way to go.
  • Aspect Montage: When Skid finally succumbs to the Corruption, a set of images are shown on-screen; Skid and Pump interacting without their masks, the two meeting Moloch and getting dragged to hell by him, and a photo of Lila and Skid together. These memories are likely how he and Pump were able to maintain their free will.
  • Beyond the Impossible: In Week 2, Skid and Pump somehow still remain conscious and in control after being corrupted, to corrupted Boyfriend's irritation. After one more attempt to "make them sleep", the Fallen Angel doesn't bother with them any further.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: There's very little blood or gore in both Corruption and Hellbeats. During Week 2, the illusion sequence of "Devotion" depicts many of the Spooky Month cast brutally maimed in gory ways, Lila having gone off the deep end, and a mortified Skid at his mother's mercy. To further hammer it in, "Devotion" is the first episode to begin with a Content Warning.
  • Break the Cutie: Like the original Corruption mod, Skid is tormented as he corrupts, but Fallen Angels takes it up a notch by giving him false hope with Pump at his side, before Boyfriend shows him an illusion of his loved ones brutally maimed and an insane Lila attacking him. When it cuts back to reality, Skid is entirely corrupted and curled in a fetal position.
  • The Cameo: Roy, one of Skid and Pump's bullies, briefly appears as Pump is walking back to the candy store in "Atonement". He appears again, now corrupted, staring at Skid and Pump through the window in "Devotion".
  • Cerebus Callback: In "Atonement", corrupted Pico attacking a cashier is treated as a funny moment as part of the general gag of Pump being completely unaware of the corruption taking over Hell. "Unmanageable" shows the direct aftermath of this event, with someone attempting to call for help while fighting against the now-corrupted cashier, only to lose hope and be taken over. Aside from the final line, it's treated entirely seriously.
  • Composite Character: Within Hellbeats lore, the demon that dragged Skid and Pump to Hell is left unidentified, but is implied to be one they summoned after meeting Moloch. During Skid's Aspect Montage in "Devotion", Moloch is revealed to be the one that brought them to Hell, as revenge for the two not letting him free.
  • Content Warning: Starting with "Devotion", each video begins with a disclaimer that the video may have disturbing content.
  • Creator Cameo: Amongst the characters spectating the events of the third week, the Author Avatar of DyanEstella, the creator of Funkin' Corruption: REIMAGINED (which Nyaadia composed some songs for), is present around the back.
  • Dark Reprise:
    • "Shachath" begins with Pico and Boyfriend singing a slower version of "Philly Nice", the energetic song between the two in the original game.
    • "Atonement" opens with a rendition of "Friendly Nightmares", the ending theme to "Unwanted Guest". While in "Unwanted Guest" the song was cheerfully eerie, here it's far more somber, setting the bleak tone for the Spookeez and Hell as a whole.
  • Death by Adaptation: As the mod takes place in Hell, any characters not already established in the original Hellbeats likely died before being sent down, such as Roy and Whitty — the latter even has a photo of himself back when he was alive hung up on his wall.
  • Denser and Wackier: Downplayed. While the mod is still serious in tone, it's contrasted with sillier moments and gags interspersed throughout, something the original Corruption mod rarely had until its second half.
  • The Dividual: Played With. While the two are still shown together, compared to the original game and both Corruption and Hellbeats, Skid and Pump have their own separate animations instead of singing in unison, and even have their own separate chromatics.
  • Dual Boss:
    • For Week 1, Pico and Darnell fight Evil Boyfriend together.
    • Inverted for Week 2, where, while Skid starts out alone, he and Pump face Evil Boyfriend off as a team.
    • Once again inverted for Week 3, with Evil Pico and Evil Darnell taking on Nene.
  • Easter Egg:
    • The background of the first week has quite the abundance of graffiti on one of the walls, such as a Your Mom roast, a game of Tic-Tac-Toe, and a sketch of a crewmate.
    • In one of the windows during "Atonement" is a Pelito wearing an Ooga Booga mask.
  • Evil Is Petty: During his speech on the radio, Monster blames the corruption on Whitty and uses it as an opportunity to encourage people to vote for him in an upcoming election. This implies that part of the reason Monster released a dangerous virus on the populace was so he could smear his political opponent and get himself more voters.
  • Evolving Title Screen: End card, more like. The logo for the mod appears at the end of each video, with the lights making up the "Fallen Angels" part changing accordingly for the events of the video in question.
    • When Boyfriend, Pico and Darnell each fall to the corruption, "F", "A" and "L" dim out respectively.
    • The "N" in "Fallen" and "S" in "Angels" each go out after "Devotion" to represent Skid and Pump falling to the Corruption. However, come their Heroic Second Wind in "Second Coming", those lights come back on again, albeit blue this time.
    • After "Flashy Sins", the "A" representing Pico turns on, but is blood-red, indicating that Nene's attack might have proven fatal.
  • Fantastic Racism: Carries over from Hellbeats. Monster shows clear disdain for Boyfriend and angels in general, believing all of them are Holier Than Thou assholes that look down on demons just because they went to Hell, and has glee over finally getting to knock one down a peg via corrupting Boyfriend.
  • Flaming Hair: Due to being a demon, Darnell's hair is entirely made of fire, in the same shape as his flattop. Once he's corrupted, the fire goes out and is replaced with smoke.
  • Foreshadowing: In the flashback sequences in "Amomos" and "Atonement", Skid and Pump are singing against Moloch. During Skid's Aspect Montage in "Devotion", it's revealed that Moloch is the one who dragged them to Hell, with those flashbacks presumably being their final moments alive.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Since the corruption infects through music and can be fought back using it, all opponents drain health when they sing.
  • Heart in the Wrong Place: The corrupted Skid and Pump have their hearts on the sides of their chests like a badge, instead of at the center.
  • Heart Light: After Skid and Pump are corrupted, their hearts are shown as a glowing light on their chests, split in two with one half in the other's color.
  • Hope Spot: This is fairly commonplace for this mod.
    • For the end of Week 1, Pico transforms into his true angel form to stand a better chance against Boyfriend. However, when Darnell returns, this hope shatters quickly and Pico soon falls to the virus.
    • "Devotion" has Skid and Pump fully uncorrupted as they duet against Evil Boyfriend, the former not giving up even when Pump is knocked out. As Boyfriend realizes he's going to win, he shows Skid a horrific illusion of Lila to mentally break him, leaving the kids to fall to the Corruption. However, this is then subverted as the two are still in control despite being corrupted.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: The radio reporter mentions that the corrupted can't break into homes through the doors before Week 3. However, while this does ring true for canon Corruption, we're quickly shown that the corrupted in Fallen Angels have no such handicap, able to break inside homes easily.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While Daddy Dearest is still a considerable jerk here, he cares enough about the safety of Hell to cancel his planned concert and make room for refuge for any survivors of the Corruption.
  • Mundane Solution: At the end of "Flashy Sins", rather than continue to sing, Nene throws a knife at Pico's head, killing him instantly. Even Darnell and some of the casino's patrons are shocked that he went down so easily.
  • Mythology Gag: As Pump is walking back to the candy store in "Atonement", he passes by a window with two corrupted individuals in it: one has x's for eyes and a Jagged Mouth, while the other has big eyes and sharp teeth, matching the original Skid and Pump's corrupted designs.
  • Never My Fault: In the radio broadcast before Week 3's beginning, Monster is seen blaming Whitty for starting the virus's spread. Needless to say, the bomb-head isn't too pleased with this misblaming.
  • Oh, Crap!: In "Flashy Sins", after Nene throws her knife at Evil Pico, which seems to kill him instantly, Evil Darnell visibly panics, showing that she's a dangerous foe. The spectators of the event also have a mix of emotions concerning the situation, like straight-up shock to a slight eyebrow raise.
  • One-Winged Angel: Quite literally, given some of the cast are angels.
    • In "Angel's Grace", Pico sheds his demon disguise, undoing most of the corruption on him, and begins attacking Boyfriend with a sword made out of light.
    • In "Devotion" and continuing into "Second Coming", corrupted Boyfriend taps into Boyfriend's angel power, bringing a relentless onslaught against Skid and Pump.
  • The Power of Friendship: A major theme of week 2 is Skid and Pump's unbreakable bond; initially, Skid is no match for Evil Boyfriend alone, but with Pump there to support him, he's able to shake off the Corruption, and the two confidently face Boyfriend head on together. Even after Boyfriend knocks Pump out, Skid still charges ahead on his own, with Boyfriend only winning because he played dirty. And despite everything, Skid and Pump's love for each other allows them to stay in control once the corruption completely covers them, something no one else has been able to do.
  • Promoted to Playable: As potentially a first for Corruption mods, Skid and Pump are both the playable stars of Week 2, with Evil Boyfriend taking on the role as the opponent alongside Moloch in flashbacks and Lila as an illusion.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Most songs are named after biblical terms or phrases, fitting for the mod taking place in Hell and involving angels and demons: "Sacrilege", "Atonement", "Second Coming", etc.
  • Sore Loser: Evil Boyfriend doesn't take well to losing, trying to act like his first loss against Skid and Pump didn't count and was simply a warm-up. He's not above cheating just to win, either. When all else fails, he ends up throwing a fit and not bothering with the Spooky Kids any longer after being beaten in "Second Coming".
  • Surprisingly Happy Ending: For Skid and Pump, while they do end up corrupted, they remain in control of their bodies and successfully drive Evil Boyfriend away, guaranteeing their freedom. This doesn't mean the rest of Hell is safe just yet, though...
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Both the radio reporter and Monster treat the virus as a non-issue that people have absolutely no reason to panic over. As the radio reporter speaks, the audience is shown various images of the corruption infecting people and terrified people hiding from it.
  • Wham Line: With Skid mentally broken and Boyfriend having won, Skid spends his last few moments scooting closer to Pump before both of them are overtaken by the corruption as the screen fades to black. Pump, still with his normal text color, then asks, "Did we win?"
