"Don't cry, Sponge… let's be… super… friends…"

With so many battles throughout this long-runner series, there has been plenty of deaths that has resulted in the loser having no body left behind upon death. It's not just in the main series, as this trope also happens in Death Battle Exhibition and Death Race. For some losers that suffer this trope, it's justified due to having a healing factor and/or the ability to regenerate From a Single Cell.

Note that this page will spoil the winner of almost every fight. Since almost every example will be a spoiler, all spoilers are unmarked.

Death Battle:

Season 1

• Goomba VS Koopa:
  • Goomba suffers this trope via A Molten Date with Death.
  • Double Subverted with the Koopa Troopa. He appears to suffer A Molten Date with Death but then comes back up as a Dry Bones. Dry Bones then sinks back into the lava anyway.
• Bomberman VS Dig Dug: Dig Dug impales and inflates Bomberman, causing him to drop his Super Bomb and get blown to ashes with it.
• Vegeta VS Shadow: Vegeta vaporizes Shadow into smoke using Final Flash when his Golden Super Mode wears off.
• Justin Bieber VS Rebecca Black: The car explodes, destroying not just Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black completely, but also the 13-year-old driver and the Jonas Brothers.
• Eggman VS Wily: Both Doctor Eggman and Doctor Wily (plus their armies) suffer this trope when a Roboenza-infected Metal Sonic Overlord vaporizes the entire field, killing everyone else.
• Thor VS Raiden: Thunder God Raiden from Mortal Kombat has the lower half of his body obliterated by a single strike from Mjolnir and his upper half is thrown into the sun by Thor and incinerated.
• Pikachu VS Blanka: Blanka used his superior size to catch Pikachu and eat his entire body.
• Goku VS Superman: After Goku and Superman release their most powerful punches, the combined force of the impact explodes the Earth, taking everyone on it with the blast, and also disintegrates Goku, leaving only his boot surviving the destruction.

Season 2

• Shao Kahn VS M. Bison: As if ripping his body in half and absorbing his soul wasn't enough, Shao Kahn then tries out his new Psycho Power by obliterating what remains of M. Bison's corpse.
• Ryu Hayabusa VS Strider Hiryu: The end of the battle between Ryu Hayabusa and Strider Hiryu has Strider sending an Option C drone to drop bombs on Ryu, destroying his corpse.
• Terminator VS RoboCop: The Terminator explodes with his own ruptured hydrogen fuel cell in the attempt to take RoboCop out with him, leaving behind only his skull which RoboCop proceeds to step on.
• Pokémon Battle Royale:
  • In the standoff between Charizard and Blastoise, Blastoise proceeds to fill up Charizard with so much water that it explodes into a mix of blood and water.
  • At the end of the Pokémon Battle Royale, Blastoise starts eating Venusaur's flower. The rest of Venusaur's body was presumably destroyed by Charizard's fire.
• Fulgore VS Sektor: After blowing Sektor up, Fulgore transforms his body to make machine guns blow up the remains of his body.
• Godzilla VS Gamera: Gamera ends up self-destructing while Godzilla blows a hole in him with his Red Spiral breath.
• Ryu VS Scorpion: Scorpion's hellfire leaves nothing but a pile of Ryu's ashes in its wake.
• Kirby VS Majin Buu: It's noted that this is really the only way Buu can be killed, down the cellular level.
  • Fat Buu gets disintegrated by Kid Buu after accidentally releasing him in anger.
  • Kid Buu gets vaporized by being caught between the sun and his very own Planet Burst attack.
• Ragna VS Sol Badguy: Ragna is vaporized, alongside the town that he and Sol were battling in, by Sol's Dragon Install.
• Iron Man VS Lex Luthor: Tony Stark hoists Luthor out of the Warsuit and proceeds to disintegrate him with the Unibeam.
• Darth Vader VS Doctor Doom: Darth Vader's suit and body are completely destroyed when Doctor Doom finished the fight by dropping him into a river of lava.
• Donkey Kong VS Knuckles: When DK finally lands a solid hit on Knuckles (in this case, by smashing his hands into Knuckles), Knuckles is instantly vaporized, leaving behind a pair of dismembered arms.
• Yang VS Tifa: While Yang doesn't directly cause this, Tifa's corpse disappears into The Lifestream after she kills her.
• Pokémon VS Digimon: Charizard and Red are completely vaporized by WarGreymon's Terra Force.

Season 3

• Dante VS Bayonetta: Bayonetta explodes in a bout of Ludicrous Gibs after being impaled with Dante's Lucifer blades.
• Tracer VS Scout: Tracer's Pulse Bomb made sure there was nothing remaining of Scout, except for Archimedes and his hat.
• Amy Rose VS Ramona Flowers: In traditional Scott Pilgrim fashion, Ramona Flowers explodes into coins after being crushed under an arcade game, leaving behind only a pool of blood.

Season 4

• Power Rangers VS Voltron: Once Voltron slices through the Megazord, it explodes, killing the Power Rangers completely.
• Natsu VS Ace: The heat from Natsu's lightning magic absolutely incinerates Portgas' body.
• Smokey VS McGruff: A massive Smokey Bear completely crushes McGruff the Crime Dog.
• Naruto VS Ichigo: Ichigo is completely destroyed when Naruto throws both his Six Paths: Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken and a Tailed Beast Bomb at him.

Season 5

• Black Panther VS Batman: Save for his head that he ripped off, Black Panther kicks Batman out to be eaten whole by the zoo's killer whale.
• Jotaro VS Kenshiro: Due to getting being hit by one of Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken lethal techniques, Jotaro Kujo swells up before exploding into nothing but a puddle of blood shortly after.
• Crash VS Spyro: Being hit by Spyro's Aether breath, which is capable of smashing atoms on the molecular level causes this to happen to Crash and Aku Aku.
• Leon Kennedy VS Frank West: Leon blows up Frank completely with his rocket launcher, leaving behind only his zombified head which he quickly throws a knife at to put a permanent end.
• Carnage VS Lucy: Carnage had a powerful enough Healing Factor that could restore him from a pile of Ludicrous Gibs, but wasn't enough against vaporization by nuclear bomb-level amounts of heat that Lucy's Vectors could produce.
• Optimus Prime VS Gundam: Optimus's Matrix of Leadership completely envelops the Gundam, resulting in it exploding, leaving behind only its head.
• Mario VS Sonic (2018): After Mario grabs him mid-Spin Dash to set him on fire from friction and then throws him into the ocean from lower orbit hard enough to cause a massive explosion, one of Sonic's charred shoes — with a disembodied leg still in it — is all that's left of him.
• Thanos VS Darkseid: Thanos managed to snap away Darkseid with the Infinity Gaunlet. However, all he did was to snap away one of his avatars, allowing Darkseid to just make a new one.

Season 6

• Mega Man Battle Royale: Both Volnutt and Classic Mega Man are sucked into the black hole created by the beams of all the Mega Men. X and Starforce Mega Man are both vaporized by Megaman.EXE.
• Captain Marvel VS Shazam: Captain Marvel is punched by Shazam so hard, the punch blows up the asteroid she landed on. Said blast completely incinerates her, leaving behind her boot.
• Wario VS King Dedede: King Dedede sticks a Gordo up Wario's butt, causing the latter's Planet-busting Waft to explode within him, save for Wario's hat.
• Ben 10 VS Green Lantern: Hal Jordan, after traveling back to before Ben transformed for the first time, uses his ring to create a giant green boot to flatten Ben, completely squishing him.
• Weiss VS Mitsuru: Weiss' Summons dissipates upon Weiss' death since they are made of Aura.
• Johnny Cage VS Captain Falcon: After hitting Johnny Cage with the Falcon Punch, the Captain completely gibs Johnny except for his arm.
• Aang VS Edward Elric: Aang in the Avatar State vaporizes Edward Elric with a combined Elemental attack that leaves behind a black pile.
• Ghost Rider VS Lobo: This fate happens to Lobo when Ghost Rider (with Zarathos in control) proceeds to burn all his clones with hellfire, completely decimating all of his bodies, leaving behind his ghost. Said ghost then gets his soul be hit with the Penance Stare and then eaten.
• Dragonzord VS Mechagodzilla: The Dragonzord is hit by Mechagodzilla's Absolute Zero Cannon, turning into ice which shatters into dust.
• Sasuke VS Hiei: Sasuke is turned into Ludicrous Gibs by Hiei after their Single-Stroke Battle, save for a few pieces of clothing.
• Mob VS Tatsumaki: After Tatsumaki drops a meteor on Mob, she finishes him off with a miniature tornado, leaving nothing behind.
• Deadpool VS Mask: The Mask pulls out a giant bomb which detonates and reduces himself and Deadpool to dust which is blown away in the wind. The Mask reveals to be okay immediately after though thanks to Toon Physics. Deadpool on the other hand, is legit dead... until The Mask tricks Wiz and Boomstick into reviving him.

Season 7

• Miles Morales VS Static: Static overcharges Miles, launches him skyward with ball lightning, and blows him up.
• Leonardo VS Red Ranger Jason: Leonardo explodes after Jason splits him in half.
• Genos VS War Machine: Genos blows himself up, leaving only his head behind which War Machine crushes.
• Cable VS Booster Gold: Booster Gold's Deadly Force Field crushes Cable completely, including his blood.
• Danny Phantom VS American Dragon Jake Long: Danny Phantom's Ecto Beams disintergate Jake Long's body into ash, leaving Jake Long as a spirit whom he quickly captures in his thermos.
• Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia: After Beerus eviscerates Sailor Galaxia's torso with a super powered beam, he sends her remaining limbs hurtling towards the black hole that they had created when their epic clash accidentally collapsed the sun.
• Zuko VS Shoto Todoroki: Shoto Todoroki freezes Zuko's body completely, then shatters it and the glacier he's trapped in, reducing the Fire Lord into nothing.
• Flash VS Sonic: Wally West punches Sonic so hard that it blows Sonic up and reduces him to pixels.
• The Seven Battle Royale: At the start of The Seven Battle Royale, A-Train splatters The Deep completely.
• Venom VS Crona: Crona and Ragnarok vaporize Venom completely with Scream Resonance.
• Sanji VS Rock Lee: Rock Lee ends up turning into dust as a side-effect of using the eighth gate of death, with Sanji only having lost a leg.
• Hulk VS Broly: Broly does this to the Hulk, destroying reality around them several times to eventually come back to him holding the Hulk's dismembered hands which then dissipate into dust. The host even explains this was the only way to permanently kill the Hulk as he could regenerate otherwise.

Season 8

• Yoda VS King Mickey: King Mickey vaporizes Yoda with Ultima.
• Shadow VS Ryūko: Ryūko and Senketsu are totally vaporized by Super Shadow's Chaos Blast.
• Lex Luthor VS Doctor Doom: After Doom slices him to pieces, the Lexcorp building explodes and destroys what's left of Luthor's corpse.
• Heihachi Mishima VS Geese Howard: Heihachi sends Geese Howard into a volcano where Geese gets burnt into nothingness in said lava.
• Blake VS Mikasa: Mikasa is completely blown up by Blake flinging one of her own Thunder Spears back at her.
• Iron Fist VS Po: Po's Chi Dragon eats Iron Fist, causing him to dissolve.
• Steven Universe VS Star Butterfly: Star Butterfly vaporizes Steven Universe with a laser beam, leaving behind a pink, cracked gem.
• Link VS Cloud (2021):
  • Although Cloud doesn't cause this directly in his rematch with Link, Link's body fades away after being sliced in half. With that being said, this is merely a visual effect, as the two halves of Link's corpse land in front of Cloud immediately afterwards, subverting this trope.
  • As for the three copies Link summoned, they are sucked in by a black hole that Cloud's Remove created, playing this trope straight.
• Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash:
  • The first instance of this trope for this battle is when Goku Black vaporizes one of the past Reverse-Flashes with a point-blank Black Kamekameha. Present Thawne is unaffected due to his paradox nature.
  • The second instance of this trope is when Reverse-Flash proceeds to vibrate one of past-Black's molecules to the point where Goku Black is phased out of existence. Present Goku Black is unaffected due to his paradox nature.
  • The third instances of this trope is when after removing his Time Ring and impaling Goku Black from the back, Reverse-Flash proceeds to run Goku Black around the world at supersonic speed many times before hurling his mutilated body into the sun, completely incinerating him. This instance sticks.
• DIO VS Alucard: Alucard is reduced to nothing more than a rain of blood droplets via a barrage of punches from DIO's stand, The World.

Season 9

• Harley Quinn VS Jinx: Jinx's Super Mega Death Rocket completely obliterates Harley Quinn, leaving behind only her head.
• Hercules VS Sun Wukong: Hercules ends up being smashed into nothingness courtesy of Sun Wukong. Sun even lampshades this trope.
• Boba Fett VS Predator: Upon defeat, the Predator blows up using their wrist-mounted self-destruct device.
• Trunks VS Silver: Xeno Trunks ends up being obliterated temporally by his own Key Sword, courtesy of Archie Silver rewinding it out of his hands using the Time Stone.
• SpongeBob VS Aquaman: After the final clash between Spongebob Squarepants and Superfriends Aquaman, Aquaman turns into dust after letting Spongebob know how proud he was with him.
• Gogeta VS Vegito: Upon his defeat to Vegito, Gogeta turns to stone. When Vegito proceeds to fist-bump the stone construct to indicate he enjoyed the fight with him, Gogeta then crumbles to dust.

Season 10

• Ant-Man VS Atom: Hank Pym uses his ants to completely explode Ray Palmer from inside-out.
• Dark Souls VS Skyrim: The Chosen Undead's body is disintegrated as the Dragonborn extinguishes the First Flame with Unrelenting Force.
• Stitch VS Rocket Raccoon:
  • Once Stitch impales Rocket with his own rocket, Rocket is sent flying into his own Orbital Weapons Stash where the collision causes an explosion that completely destroys him.
  • Ice Cream Guy gets splattered by Stitch colliding with him at high speed.
• Darth Vader VS Obito Uchiha: After trapping Darth Vader in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Obito transforms his Truth-Seeking Orbs into the Sword of Nunoboko and uses it to completely obliterate the Sith Lord, leaving nothing behind.
• Phoenix VS Raven: While both combatants inflict this trope on each other, at the end of the fight, Raven in spirit form takes it one step further by blowing out the flame representing the souls of both Jean Grey and the Phoenix Force.
• Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer: Silver Surfer destroys Martian Manhunter completely with a supernova. Justified as J'onn can survive anything from lost limbs to being liquified, the only way the Silver Surfer could win is if he destroyed him down to the last atom - something the Power Cosmic would certainly be capable of accomplishing.
• Bill Cipher VS Discord: At one point in the fight, Bill utterly pulverizes Discord's body with a giant chess piece of a knight, forcing the draconequis to continue the fight as a spirit... which also gets obliterated when Bill destroys that too following Discord's failed attempt to kill him in the mindscape, crushing his soul into nothing in his hand.
• Cole MacGrath vs Alex Mercer: After absorbing his bioelectricity, Cole obliterates the majority of Alex's body with a Thunder Drop. While there is a small bit of biomass left behind after, Cole immediately disintegrates it in his hand. As with J'onn before, this was considered a necessity thanks to Mercer's regeneration allowing him to recover as long as even a small piece of the Blacklight Virus remained.
• Frieza VS Megatron: The two exchange energy attacks after losing half of their bodies, Megatron with his Fusion Cannon and Frieza with his Death Saucers. Frieza's Death Saucers come out on top, slicing through Megatron's attacks, then Megatron himself, We don't see Megatron's state after being sliced apart, but it doesn't matter, as whatever would be left is then promptly obliterated by Cybertron exploding.
• Gojo VS Makima: After getting immobilized by Domain Expansion Unlimited Void, Gojo completely obliterates Makima with Hollow Purple. Justified as Makima could regenerate from any of Gojo's other attacks unless there was nothing of her body remaining.
• Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor: Rick grabs the Doctor's De-materialization Gun and fires it, but The Doctor turns his back so it flies through the portal Rick made, causing the beam to hit Rick instead, erasing every Rick from reality. Justified as nothing shy of complete erasure could put Rick down permanently due to Project Phoenix.
• Galactus VS Unicron: Galactus assumes a giant form and absorbs Unicron whole, body and spark. Justified, as due to Unicron's nature as an abstract, conceptual being, nothing shy of complete erasure could put him down for long.

DBX:

Season 1

• Master Chief VS Jango Fett: Only the helmet is left behind when Master Chief's sticky grenade explodes Jango Fett.
• Trunks VS Silver: Trunks completely decimates Silver with his Galick Gun.
• Jotaro VS Yu: Yu is punched so hard many times that his body left a bloody mess over the place.

Season 2

• Aigis VS Noel Vermillion: Aigis is destroyed with only her legs remaining due to them being sliced off eariler.
• Cloud VS Guts: After being sliced in half, Guts fades away to nothingness.
• Zero VS Strider: Strider is completely destroyed with Zero's Gemnu Zero.
• Ken VS Blaziken: Ken is incinerated by Blaziken's fire pillar.
• Vegeta VS Zod: General Zod ends up being incinerated by a Father-Son Galick Gun.
• Alucard VS Dimitri: Dimitri ends up being sucked into a black hole.
• Noctis VS 2B: 2B and her mech are completely destroyed by Noctis.

Season 3

• Krillin VS Tien VS Yamcha: It's implied that Tien and Yamcha ended up incinerated by Krillin's Scattering Bullet.
• Thor VS 100 Pikachus: Most of the pikachus are either turned into bloody paste, turned into fine mist, or incinerated by Thor's lightning.
• Harley Quinn VS Domino: It's implied Harley's rocket destroyed Domino and the carriage she was on.
• Yoshi VS Pac-Man: Pac-Man ate Yoshi completely, including his eyes.
• Natsu VS Iceman: Iceman shatters the ice cube Natsu was in, reducing the Fairy Tail member into nothingness.
• Burning Gundam VS Thunder Megazord: The Thunder Megazord is completely destroyed by the Burning Gundam.
• Batman VS Scorpion: It's implied that Scorpion's fire breath completely incinerates Batman.
• Alucard VS Dio Brando: Alucard ate Dio whole, leaving behind only blood.
• Bendy VS Cuphead: Once Bendy drank from Cuphead's head, Cuphead's body disintergrates into dust, leaving behind only the head which shatters into pieces.

Season 4

• Gohan VS Superboy:
  • The main ending has Superboy be incinerated by the Father-Son Kamekameha combo.
  • The alternate ending has Gohan be incinerated by the sun.
• Metal Sonic VS Mega Man: In the main ending, Metal Sonic is completely blown up by Mega Man's Crash Bomb.
• Boa Hancock VS Rider Medusa:
  • In the main ending, Rider Medusa completely destroys Boa Hancock, leaving behind only a pool of Boa's blood.
  • In the alternate ending, Boa Hancock turns Medusa to stone before shattering her into dust.
• Venom VS Spawn:
  • In the main ending, Spawn completely incinerates Venom.
  • In the alternate ending, Venom eats Spawn completely, leaving nothing behind.
• Link VS Trunks:
  • In the main ending, Trunks completely incinerates Link with a Burning Slash.
  • In the alternate ending, Link traps Trunks in a Triforce Slash where he slices Trunks into a bloody mess.
• Blake VS Inuyasha: In the main ending, Inuyasha shreds Blake completely, leaving behind only her blood.
• Frieza VS Mewtwo: In the main ending, although Frieza only sliced Mewtwo in half with his Destructo Disc, Mewtwo's body is then consumed by his Planet Burst attack.
• Batman VS Iron Man:
  • In the main ending, Iron Man incinerates Batman with his unibeam attack
  • In the alternate ending, Iron Man is completely blown up by Batman's batarang.

Season 5

• Vegeta VS Thor:
  • In the main ending, Vegeta is completely destroyed by Thor slamming Mjolnir on him.
  • In the alternate ending, Vegeta's Galick Gun incinerates Thor.
• Mulan VS Lucina: In the main ending, it's Implied with Mulan being sliced into many pieces via fast turbines.
• Ben 10 VS Danny Phantom:
  • In the main ending, Ben uses Alien X's powers to turn Danny into dust.
  • In the alternate ending, Danny possesses Ben and explodes him from inside.
• Kenshin VS Law: In the main ending, Kenshin was completely crushed by a pile of ice, leaving behind only a pool of blood.
• Yang VS Bakugo: In the main ending, Bakugo incinerates Yang with his arm cannon.
• X-Wing VS Arwing:
  • In the main ending, the Arwing's energy shot completely destroyed the X-Wing pieces by pieces.
  • In the alternate ending, X-Wing's missiles ensured that there was nothing left of the Arwing.
• Superman VS Saitama: In the alternate ending, only Saitama's arm is left behind once Superman slams him into the sun and it explodes.

Season 6

• Gogeta VS Vegito: In the main ending, after hitting Vegito with Stardust Breaker, Gogeta then follows up with Meteor Explosion, completely erasing Vegito in a pillar of light.
• Donald VS Daffy: In the alternate ending, Donald burns Daffy until he was just ash. This ash structure then collapses.
• Zuko vs Roy: In the alternate ending, Roy explodes Zuko from inside-out.
• Sailor Mercury VS Blue Ranger:
  • In the main ending, once in the background, Mercury explodes into Ludicrous Gibs.
  • In the alternate ending the Blue ranger is inflated with water from Mercury's attack so much he explodes like a balloon, leaving behind only his head.
• Palpatine VS Xehanort: In the alternate ending, Palpatine is completely vaporized by Xehanort's attack.
• Goomba VS Koopa II:
  • In the main ending, Koopa Troopa completely spatters the Goomba into a bloody smear.
  • In the alternate ending, the Goomba ate the Koopa Troopa whole.

Death Race:

Season 1

• Batmobile Battle!:
  • The Dark Knight Batmobile is self-destructed by its own Batman as he ejects out of his Batmobile with his Batpod. He is then incinerated by the Arkham Knight Batmobile's exhaust pipe flamethrower.
  • The Arkham Knight Batmobile is nuked by the Adam West Batmobile's ICBM.
• Optimus Prime VS Thomas the Tank Engine?:
  • The 1960 Ford Anglia 105E and its occupants, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, are incinerated by a Skyrim-mod empowered Thomas the Tank Engine's dragon fire.
  • Both Lightning McQueen and Thomas the Tank Engine die together when they collide when the train crashes on top of Lightning McQueen, resulting in an explosion that takes both of them out.
• BATTLE CARS!: In the attempt to take out James Bond with it, the Spy Hunter fires off a rocket that destroys the Aston Martin. James Bond ejects out at the last second just to be completely sliced into a bloody mist by a helicopter's blade.
• Sonic VS Mario VS Star Wars VS Initial D:
  • Subverted for the DeLorean. Boomstick believes that the DeLorean was completely incinerated by itself but Wiz rightfully points out it actually time traveled.
  • The Speeder Bike is knocked out of the race track when Mario pushes past it with his Bullet Bill power-up and then explodes.
  • Mario attempts to blow up Sonic with his Bob-omb but misses both on the initial throw and the return trip, causing his own Bob-omb to explode Mario and his kart completely.
  • Sonic attempted to destroy Mario with his Blue Shell but since Mario was already destroyed by his own Bob-omb, it made Sonic in first place instead, which resulted in Sonic dying to his own Blue Shell and getting destroyed completely.
