Young Multiverser
is an OC-insert fanfiction set in the world of Young Justice (2010) written by Hero of the Multiverse, and is also part of The Multiverser Saga.
Synopsis: "When I was human, Young Justice was one of my favorite shows to watch. Now that I've become a Multiverser, the dream of joining my heroes in the fight against evil is able to be a reality. And with a slew of heroes and villains in this world both expected and unexpected, it looks like this adventure's gonna be a wild ride!"
This story is the first Multiverser fan fiction ever written by Hero of the Multiverse, and the one with the most work done for it so far (both in rewriting and in amount of effort put into continuing the story above all the other ones the author has out so far).
Young Multiverser contains examples of:
- Accidental Marriage: Michael and Raven, during the "First Mission" arc (due to Michael accidentally kissing Raven, thus completing the ceremony Brother Blood began and binding himself to his teammate).
- Affectionate Nickname: Many are given these by Michael and Adam to their team. (ex. Koriand'r/Starfire = "Kori"; Raven = "Rachel Roth, Rachel"; Victor Stone/Cyborg = "Vic, Robocop")
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Killer Croc begs the heroes to keep a murderous Duncan Verser away from him, even surrendering himself to arrest if it means surviving.
- Ass Shove: Adam Verser violently threatens Wally with this, when the latter declared he didn't want to get involved with fighting the Church of Blood. Upon hearing the threat, he quickly (and fearfully) fell in line.
- Badass Boast: Adam gives a good one in the Citadel arena, repeating what he once said as Talion:"I came here today, to fight your empress' champion!...I AM STILL WAITING!"
- Badass Crew: The Team definitely qualify.
- Battle in the Center of the Mind: After the fight against Mister Twister resulted in Adam suffering from severe Negatium poisoning, Michael, Raven, and Miss Martian are forced to enter his mind in order to fix things. His mental defenses are based on The Evil Within, and during their time in there, Michael has had a bad experience in Adam's mine before (where he mistakenly thought Adam had left him to do all the fighting on his own). This incident ends with a fight with Satan Verser, who has been stewing in there since he separated from Michael awaiting a chance to escape. They fight, and suffice it to say, shit goes down.
- Beach Episode: The arc following the "First Mission" arc is this, serving in-universe to act as a means to let the Team unwind and recover properly after the trauma endured.
- Big Damn Heroes: Adam pulls one when he faces off against Mister Twister to save the Team from Negatium-enhanced lightning.
- Big Fancy House: The Versers own a large apartment penthouse.
- Blood Knight: Like her original comic incarnation, Koriand'r/Starfire is shown to be willing to kill her enemies.
- Bloodier and Gorier: Invoked quite a few times.
- Breather Episode: Set in between arcs with a lot of stress involved, to give the Team a moment to relax after the hectic misadventures that they find themselves in.
- Character Death: Not often, but it has its own examples. Sebastian Blood IX/Brother Blood (the main antagonist of the "First Mission" arc) was blown up by a bomb left behind by Architect.
- Closed Circle: The Multiversers are all-powerful beings, so occasionally, in order to have them stay in the place where the story needs them, an excuse must be given for why they cannot leave.
- During the "First Mission" arc, there is a special barrier set up around the island of Zandia—set up by the Church of Blood, with help from The Antiverser—that keeps even the two Multiversers they are with (Michael and Adam) from leaving.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Any fight where the Multiversers are going up against anybody "ordinary." Ties into Mooks down below.
- A darker example is shown when Brother Blood beats Architect into a state where he barely functions, while the latter is protecting Raven.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Oh boy, are there a few examples of this trope:
- The Multiversers (Second Wave): The majority of them hailed from a Non-Scripted Earth where an event known as "the Outbreak" destroyed most of the world's cities and caused the gruesome deaths of their families and loved ones. Michael in particular was the most affected by it, believing that the entire debacle was his fault simply for existing.
- Raven: In her youth, she accidentally caused the destruction of Azarath when she summoned her father there to learn more about herself, resulting in him destroying everyone and everything there (including her mother). After sealing Trigon away, she ultimately killed herself, remaining dead until the Church of Blood revived her years later. She had been on her own ever since, until being captured by Project Cadmus.
- Demoted to Extra: Kobra, whom the Team went up against during their first official mission, doesn't even make a single appearance in the "First Mission" arc of this story.
- Deus ex Machina: With the Multiversers involved, there will always be instances of this.
- Throughout their time in Adam's mind, Michael, Raven and Miss Martian are rescued in very hopeless situations by the representations of Adam's personality traits.
- When a weakened Michael is left fighting the shade of Trigon, he uses a Summoning Jutsu to summon two allies into battle: Scanty and Kneesocks Daemon.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Beginning of chapter 2, in terms of Starfire and Raven.
- The Dog Bites Back: Raven finally snaps when she coldly mutilates Brother Blood's junk with her powers, as she said she'd do to him earlier. Her sealing away Trigon once again to save Michael counts as this, too.
- Emotional Torque: The author of the story puts a lot of work into the story to have the readers feel the right emotions at the right times, even to the point where the author asks the readers to listen to specific music at certain moments.
- Everyone Has Standards: The Team are less than thrilled with Adam's declaration to pull an Ass Shove on Wally.
- Groin Attack: Brother Blood suffers a brutal example of this, courtesy of Raven.
- Hero of Another Story: The other Multiversers that join Michael in this universe have their own adventures and lives outside of his own plotlines.
- Kill It with Fire: When stuck on Zandia, Adam tried to kill a cultist that suggested the Multiverser wasn't a good parent. Fire was involved (to the point of the author paying homage to Spriggs: a Halo 3 Machinima):"Quote 'I'll burn you all to get that son of a bitch,' end quote?"
- Killed Off for Real: Brother Blood gets blown up by a bomb left behind by Architect.
- Large Ham: Adam Verser has a tendency to act like this in certain situations, whether to play up a crowd or to express his opinions on matters. These moments can either be awesome, or hilarious, or even disturbing.
- Merged Reality: The world of Young Multiverser appears to have a blend of characters from different DC Universe media sources mixed into it (such as having characters from the universe of Justice League: War, with references of Young Justice Abridged thrown in as well).
- Mooks: The unfortunate foot soldiers that have to end up fighting the Multiversers.
- Noodle Incident: Michael Verser, Adam Verser, Kay Verser, Reilly Verser, Dick Grayson/Robin, Batman, and Jim Harper/Guardian (at minimum) apparently got mixed up in an unknown incident while in Guatemala. Whatever happened there was so bad, that everyone involved swore to NEVER speak of it aloud ever again (much to the annoyance and confusion of Wally).
- Oh, Crap!: Killer Croc has this reaction towards Duncan, when the latter is ready to kill him for interrupting his private time with his girlfriend Karen Starr/Power Girl.
- The Power of Friendship: Even when confronted with the truth of her origins and what she's expected to do, the Team refuse to abandon Raven. This extends to the point where they fight like hell to save her, and fully accept her as one of them (much to her happiness).
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Team are a collection of young heroes from different backgrounds and different motivations.
- Screw Destiny: Michael's general belief.
- Raven actively fights against her expected destiny of aiding her father in conquering Earth.
- Serial Escalation: Due to the nature of Multiversers to get involved in events that spiral out of control, this trope occurs a good number of times in the story.
- Share the Male Pain: Nearly every male in the vicinity covers their crotches in abject horror after Raven uses her powers to rip off Brother Blood's crotch.
- True Companions: The Team.
- We Would Have Told You, But...: Michael's defense for when Raven discovers his origins. Leads to What the Hell, Hero? down below.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Due to interactions with Architect, many of the heroes end up asking this question (with Raven thinking he is far more human than individuals like Brother Blood).
- What the Hell, Hero?: Raven gives one to Michael once she discovers his Multiverser status, and the fact that he didn't tell any of the Team. Thanks to intervention from Adam, however, she's able to move past this.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: The heroes' general opinion of Raven.
