  • Todo Mirconen, the Dirty Coward from the old CGS management with the square mustache, immediately earned the nickname "Hitlerstache guy".
  • After Episode 8, Naze Turbine has earned the nickname "SUPER PIMP" (as a nod to his voice actor's previous role as Asemu "Captain Ash" Asuno) or "Space Pimp" (since well, Space☆Dandy's already taken). Also "Space Fellini" or "Not!Fellini", thanks to his strong resemblance to The Italian Dandy himself.
  • Iok Kujan (the dreadlocked Gjallarhorn officer in Season 2) got the nickname "Space Nils" for his near-semblance to Nils Nielsen as he appeared in Build Fighters Try. Beginning with his actions during Season 2 Episode 11 though (firing at the Mobile Armor, thus leading it to a lightly-populated Agricultural Area), he has been tagged as "IdIOK" by detractors. His mistakes are so egregious and he's so ignorant of them that the nickname even got its own subreddit.
  • Akihiro has become Space Guts or Gundam-Guts. They're both orphans raised as child soldiers who found their family in a group of young mercenaries; They're muscular guys who throw everything into fighting, as well as being Book Dumb, stoic, and Oblivious to Love. Akihiro even looks suspiciously similar to Guts with the hunky build, spiky hair, and Big Ol' Eyebrows. By way of extension, his Gundam is now called the Gutsion. On a sadder note, both suffer having their Love Interest subject to horrifying events, although Casca at least had a hope of being cured until it actually happened while Lafter is never coming back.
  • In relation to the abovementioned, "Pepe Gundam" for the pre-Tekkadan Gundam Gusion, as its facial features resemble Pepe the Frog. By extension, "Pepe Zaku" for the Man Rodi. This reached Ascended Meme status in the video game Gundam Breaker 3 when the Gundam Gusion appears making a frog croaking sound.
  • McGillis gets called Chocolate Man due to Mikazuki calling him that since their first meeting, where he handed out chocolate to Cookie and Cracker as a make-up present for nearly running them over. Season 2 repeats this with Mikazuki this time on the receiving end. On some image boards, this nickname gets changed to Chocochar.
  • In connection to Akihiro's nickname above, McGillis later gets tagged as "McGriffith". Which falls into Hilarious in Hindsight territory as Takahiro Sakurai has been voicing Griffith himself since Berserk: The Golden Age Arc. Doubly so now that Steve Staley has taken up the same role as of Berserk (2016). Then came Season 2 Episode 18, where the nickname goes full circle into "Space Griffith," and by the end of the show the strength of the comparison is beyond dispute. Combined with Akihiro's "Space Guts", people started calling the entire show "Space Berserk".
  • After Episode 13, Almiria Baduin got called "Akatsuki" by some fans for being way too similar to the said fleet girl, down to the same hair color. As a result, jokes about McGillis being a closet Admiral are aplenty.
  • "Artichoke Vagina" for the Ālaya-Vijñāna system due to fans giving up on trying to remember the correct spelling for the words. On Twitter, Erica Mendez, Kyle McCarley, and Tom Bauer call it the "Vic Mignogna System" instead.
  • "Mace-chan" for Barbatos' primary weapon, after a running joke on Reddit in which it's personified as being "thrown away" during the Brewers arc. Its eventual replacement is, naturally, Wrench Mace-chan. The weapon is so iconic that it floating in space is the last image of the first season finale.
  • "17-Year-Old" for Carta Issue, thanks to being played by Kikuko Inoue. Alternatively, "Kabuki Lady," prior to her introduction, for looking like an actress in a Kabuki play; or "Kitsune Lady" for having fox-like features on her hair. Fanart of her with fox ears are aplenty, as a result. "Satsuki" also got some traction on Twitter during the Toonami airing, on account of Carta being played by Carrie Keranen in English.
  • With the reveal on Episode 23, "EINDroid, or FrankenstEIN" for the Graze Ein. Others have even called it a "Not!Dreadnought" or "R-Type Graze" due to its configuration. Also Robo-Ein.
  • Mikazuki "Punished" Augus in light of the fact that his right arm and right eye have been badly handicapped during the first season's final battle, adding on to the already numerous jokes that Orga is Big Boss and Tekkadan is Diamond Dogs IN SPACE! Vidar from Season 2 also inherited the nickname, after he's revealed to be Gaelio in Episode 43.
  • The Hugo is often being called "Sahelanthropus" because the head resembles a certain humanoid Metal Gear.
  • The Hashmal mobile armor is nicknamed as Metal Gear RAY due to its resemblancenote .
  • There's a reason why some start to call the show Metal Gear Gundam. By Episode 42—when Tekkadan virtually goes through with a cold-blooded, guns blazing Roaring Rampage of Revenge in exchange for one too many betrayal and oppression—the phrase "In Outer Heaven, men become demons" is just about appropriate.
  • Speaking of Mikazuki, thanks to his high kill count throughout the series (named or otherwise), his usually cold personality, and his short stature for a early-stage teenager, fans have immediately dubbed him "The Murder Manlet."
  • On the merchandise side, before the HG 1/144 heavily-armed red variant of the Gundam Astaroth was tagged with the "Origin" name, it was mistaken for a custom model kit from Gundam Build Fighters instead, leading to the nickname "Amazing Red Barbatos" (since it looked like it could belong to Meijin Kawaguchi III).
  • The reveal that mobile suits were created to defeat the AI-control dragon looking Mobile Armors made some people nicknamed Calamity War as Mobile Armor Hunter
  • "Sword Holder" for the Helmwige Reincar, due to its Valkyrja Buster Sword being borrowed by Mikazuki to take down the Hashmal.
  • Jasley Donomikolos (the Teiwaz Number Two rocking a cow skin coat) quickly earned the nickname "Cowprint McGreekname", with just a few episodes of his appearance in the series. The Chinese-speaking fans nicknamed him as "Butt Chin (屁股下巴)"
