Darth Wiki / DLD New School

Go To

Another Spin-Off of DLD, another Alternate Continuity of it.

Basically, it's a Horror/Ecchi Gag Series. Mainly, it combines Nightmare Fuel, Fanservice and Rapid-Fire Comedy all in one crazy pacakge.

It focuses on the second cast of characters introduced after episode 120. Led by New D.L.D., consisting of Thompson, Marion and Zoë, they all have all sorts of kooky adventures, from time-travelling food trucks, to battling Chinese vampires. And the old cast? Well, they're dead, and this time they stay that way. No zombies, no resurrections, no retcons, nothing. It's the newbies' time to shine!

Just to remind you who the characters are:

New D.L.D.

The others

And here are the tropes:

General

  • Acrofatic: Darla's weight doesn't stop her moving around like a hummingbird on Red Bull.
  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: Darla dresses (and acts) like a 6-year old girl.
  • Comic-Book Time: This time the characters stay the age they are; New D.L.D. and their friends are now permanently 19.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: At first glance, Klara seems like a stereotypical sullen goth. There is no second glance, because she'll run off way too fast for you to realize she's actually very cheerful.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Zhao-Len and Yoko sport these. Yoko has pigtails that each one is as big as her head.
  • Hotter and Sexier: Much like how it was when the second cast debuted back in 2011, there's lots of Fanservice in the form of Clothing Damage, panty shots, big bouncy boobs and Marshmallow Hell.
  • In-Series Nickname: Klara frequently calls Damjanka Panda, due to her chalk-white skin and ungodly amounts of eyeshadow.
  • Kent Brockman News: Much like Debra's predecessors Charmaine and David, she's not afraid to speak her mind during her broadcast.
  • Meaningful Name: Dr. Zero's name can be interpreted in two ways:
    • It comes from a short novel called Black Smile, where Dr. Zero refers to a non-existant character who represents a new beginning, or starting over. The Dr. Zero in this series starts over as the new major recurring villain, and begins where the League of Extraordinary Villains ended.
    • When it comes to destroying the new D.L.D., he really is a zero.
  • More Diverse Sequel: While the previous cast had only two nonwhite out of 30 characters, this one has four nonwhite characters out of 16.
  • Occidental Otaku: Thompson, so much he even once made a petition to build a Maid Cafe in the city; only 14 people signed. Yoko too, who is a Cosplay Otaku Girl.
  • Panty Shot: So many, and each girl has her own distinctive panties, often mixed with Splash of Color.
  • Prehensile Hair / Helicopter Hair: Zoë's big ponytail does amazing things.
  • Scenery Dissonance: Just like its parent series, the horror scenes take place in mostly pleasant looking places.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: We never see Lona without her majorette uniform.
  • Sunglasses at Night: Linda never ever takes off her sunglasses.
  • Sweet Tooth: Vicky, who likes sweet so much, she got diabetes 32 times. Thanks to being a witch, anytime she got it, she would use her magic to get rid of it.
  • Tempting Fate: Bludweiser once said he's glad being a Flat Character because that way his character won't have a chance of being ruined, and demands from the Author that from now on, he doesn't get any Character Focus. Cue to next episode where he gets a Love Interest in Vicky.
  • Torpedo Tits: Jasmine's weapon of choice.

Episode specific

  • Bad Humor Truck: Played with. The first episode deals with an ice cream monster in an ice cream shop.
  • Chinese Vampire: Lona and her cheerleaders accidentally turn into these.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: In Snack to the Future, thanks to a time travelling food truck, Klara and Darla accidentally bring back Vicky's sister Veronika from the year 1708, back when she was evil.
  • Wizard Duel: Vicky and Veronika has a fight between the two sisters.
