Main Characters
Bruce Banner
A brilliant scientist who, after exposure to gamma radiation, was tragically cursed to transform into the Incredible Hulk whenever stressed or angered. Now, he is on the run from the military while he tries to find a cure for his condition.
- Cursed with Awesome: Despite the fact that his entire life has been ruined because of his savage alter-ego, the only reason Bruce survives his brushes with death is due to transforming into the Hulk wherever needed,
- Deadpan Snarker: Bruce can deliver his share of dry lines whenever needed.
- Hunk: Even in his human form, he is a surprisingly muscular and handsome man. In the first season, he is a dead ringer for Peter Parker. In the second season, his bulky physique is toned down a bit but is still quite muscular and sports a very attractive spiky hairstyle.
The Hulk
The jolly green giant himself, who Bruce Banner turns into whenever angered. Hulk is childlike and good-natured, but also violent when provoked.
- Character Catchphrase: In addition to "HULK SMASH!", he occasionally yells out "EAT GREEN!"
- Tragic Monster: The Hulk may be a roaring, savage, destructive behemoth, but all he really wants is to find peace.
Betty Ross
Bruce's girlfriend and a scientist. Her father, Thunderbolt Ross, is the man in charge of hunting Bruce down.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Betty is a brunette in the comics but has blonde hair in this show. That said, it should be noted she did dye her hair blonde at one point in the comics.
- Everyone Loves Blondes: Betty is blonde in this show due to Adaptation Dye-Job and both Bruce and Talbot are in love with her, though she only has eyes for the former.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Betty has blonde hair and is a kind, loving woman.
Rick Jones
A teenager who accompanies and tries to help both Bruce and Hulk out of guilt for accidentally causing Bruce’s accident.
- The Atoner: Rick was present at the Gamma Reactor site when the Samuel Sterns sabotaged it, and if it weren't for Bruce pulling him to safety before it exploded, it would have turned him into the Hulk. Now, he seeks to watch Bruce's back while helping him find a cure for his condition, as repentance.
Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk
Bruce's lawyer cousin. Afer an encounter with Doctor Doom leaves Jennifer badly injured, Bruce uses his blood to giver her a transfusion. But his gamma-infused blood causes her to mutate into the Sensational She-Hulk.
- Action Girl: Jen has no issue keeping up with the Hulk in the asskicking department.
- Adaptational Dumbass: Downplayed. This show places a great deal of focus on Jen's humorous and sexual aspects but put little emphasis on her legal career. The one episode where we do see her practicing law doesn't paint her as being very competent in the field.
- Amazonian Beauty: Musclebound, and breathtakingly beautiful. This IS She-Hulk, after all. However, the musclebound part gets downplayed in season 2 where she gets a slimmer physique.
- Boisterous Bruiser: Jen is energetic and jovial, both in and out of battle.
- Cute Bruiser: Jen is just as strong as the Hulk, and she is a beautiful, sweet and kind green-skinned woman who arouses adoration from the people.
- Cute Monster Girl: Jen is a beautiful and athletic green-skinned woman who is very kind and polite, which entices people to be enamored with her instead of being afraid of her.
- Deadpan Snarker: Jen is rarely without a joke.
- Fun Personified: One of the most fun-loving and upbeat person around. It's hard not to have a good time when she's around.
- Ms. Fanservice: A tall, leggy, green-skinned woman with a fondness for Stripperiffic outfits. She also has a rather arousin, deep voice.
- Nice Girl: Unlike the Hulk, Jen is a sweet, polite and nice woman who is very social with people and despite being a green skinned woman people fall in love with her partly because of her nice and sweet nature.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: After her transformation, Jennifer enjoys showing her newfound beauty and wearing very revealing clothes.
US Government
Military
General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross
Betty's father and a general in charge of hunting down the Hulk.
- The Determinator: Will stop at absolutely nothing to capture and destroy the Hulk.

SHIELD
Villains
Samuel Sterns / The Leader
- Added Alliterative Appeal: Often gets into this while speaking.
- Bad Boss: Usually talks down to Gargoyle, although he frequently gives as good as he gets.
- Big Bad: The main antagonist of the series.
- Character Catchphrase: “So says the Leader.” It gets on Gargoyle’s nerves.
- Didn't Think This Through: His plans frequently fail due to his failure to think ahead. He’s more of a scientific genius than a strategic one. This is reflected in his myopic goals. He thinks, gain the power of the Hulk and then poof, world domination. When he eventually gains the power of the Hulk, he doesn’t know what to do with it.
- Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Comes off as an inept bungler as frequently as he does a global threat.
- Large Ham: Is very over the top.
- Plucky Comic Relief: Despite being the main threat on the show, he’s frequently this due to being easily the most humorous character in a very dark and depressing cartoon. He and Gargoyle often come across as bickering roommates.
Gargoyle
- Abhorrent Admirer: He becomes attracted to She-Hulk the moment he sees her, and goes to great lengths to win her over, which she does not appreciate.
Abomination
- The Dragon: Is the Leader’s primary enforcer and is as powerful as the Hulk. You find yourself wondering why the Leader doesn’t just swap bodies with him.
