Asteroid K (X + 100)

    General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asteroid_k_from_powers_of_x_vol_1_2.jpg

Houses the X-Men and the Horsemen of Apocalypse by Year 100.

  • La Résistance: The ones fighting against the Man-Machine Ascendancy in the name of mutants.

    Rasputin

Rasputin

Species: Chimera mutant

Citizenship: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/powers_of_x_vol_1_1_new_character_variant_textless1.jpg
"You've forgotten that machines have no soul and that the humans lost theirs a long time ago."

A third-generation "chimera" mutant, and descendant of the Rasputin family that Piotr and Illyana are part of. She's part of the Asteroid K mutants.

  • Alternate Self: 100 years into the Sins of Sinister timeline, Mister Sinister made a version of her who's identical down to her outfit. This version eventually gets to live in the main timeline.
  • Chrome Champion: She's always in the metallic form she copied from Colossus, and is one of the most heroic characters in the X^2 timeline.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Rasputin has the powers of Colossus, Kid Omega, Kitty Pryde, X-23, and Unus. To what extent isn't clear. She also wields the Soulsword from Magik.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her left arm is covered, her right one isn't.
  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: While she's covered, the costume is also very skintight and highlights her body.
  • The Hero: The closest the Powers of X timeline has to the main character.
  • Lightning Bruiser: She mentioned herself that she was purpose-born to be a tank but her Colossus strength and Magik Soulsword lets her hit hard and fast.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She appears to be well over six feet tall. One shot of her has her towering over Cardinal (who appears to be Nightcrawler's height — 5'9"), and the best estimate puts her to be somewhere in the range of 6'3".

    Cardinal

Cardinal

Species: Chimera mutant

Citizenship: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/powers_of_x_vol_1_2_new_character_variant_textless1.jpg

A third-generation "chimera" mutant, and the last of a pacifist breed.

  • Actual Pacifist: A flaw in his genetic engineering makes him psychologically incapable of willingly doing violence.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: He has red skin.
  • Badass Preacher: Fighting is not his thing, but he's still a rebel, and he's stated to be the last priest of the only religion left.
  • Dirty Coward: Accused of this by Rasputin, but really doesn't like fighting.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The threat of the Sentinels becomes so much that he becomes a Horseman of Apocalypse, allowing him to bypass his genetically hardwired pacifism.
  • Planet of Steves: All outlier mutants of his generation were all named Cardinal, due to refusing to take up personal names as part of their rejection of individual identities.

    Cylobel

Cylobel

Species: Sentinel mutant

Citizenship: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/powers_of_x_vol_1_5_new_character_variant_textless.jpg

Rasputin's sister and fellow freedom fighter, originally bred in the SalCen Khennil to hunt mutants as one of the Man-Machine Ascendancy's hounds.

  • The Constant: Cylobel existed in both the sixth and ninth of Moira's lives.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Cylobel is ground into femtofluid — her organs, body, and other matter will be ground into raw fluid and all her genetic data and the information in it will be uploaded via database. And she's conscious during the process. In the far future, the Librarian is seen trying to revive Cylobel among other mutants subjected to the femtofluid, only to be unable to save or copy any souls due to the amount of machinery inside the database.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Gives herself up so Rasputin and Cardinal can escape.
  • In Spite of a Nail: It's revealed that the hundred-year future and the thousand-year future are actually different versions of events, but Cylobel ends up jarred in both.
  • Psychic Block Defense: Engineered to have a black brain that's impossible to read telepathically.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: Engineered by humans to infiltrate and betray the mutants but her instincts to betray lead to the whole crop turning against them instead.

    North

North

Species: Chimera mutant

Citizenship: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/north_28earth_trn75629_from_powers_of_x_vol_1_1_001jpg.jpg

A second-generation "chimera" mutant, combining traits of Polaris and (apparently) Emma Frost. Serves Apocalypse as Pestilence.

  • Generation Xerox: Bears a striking resemblance to Magneto, his genetic grandfather. Dresses exactly like him but with his clothing in Lorna's green.
  • Punny Name: Polaris is the north star, and it's frosty up north.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: He displays Lorna Dane's powers. He should also be either a telepath or be capable of turning himself into diamond, but he never displays either of the White Queen's powers.

    Krakoa

Cypher/Doug Ramsey

Species: Human mutant/Sentient Island

Citizenship: American

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/douglas_ramsey_28earth_trn75629_from_powers_of_x_vol_1_1_001.png

A symbiotic hybrid of Cypher and Krakoa, a hundred years into the future as Famine.

  • Fusion Dance: At some point in the past Krakoa fused with Doug, not unlike Doug's past fusions with Warlock.
  • Thinking Up Portals: Can generate gateways to the Krakoan portal network by opening himself up.

    Xorn

Kuan–Yin Xorn / Xorn

Species: Human mutant

Citizenship: Chinese

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuan_yin_xorn_28earth_trn75629_from_powers_of_x_vol_1_3_001.png

Xorn, a hundred years into the future as Death.

  • Death Seeker: 100 years in the future, he expresses his wishes to die as much as he possibly can to the point of dying with a grin on his face when his mask is ripped off against Omega Sentinel.

    Percival

Emmanuel Cortez

Species: Human mutant

Citizenship: Unknown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/percival.jpg

A future mutant.

  • Mythology Gag: His mutant power, being invisible to machines, looks to be a reference to the "Outback Era" X-Men, where they were enchanted to not show up on film or video.
  • Posthumous Character: He is only seen immediately after his death.

    Apocalypse

En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse

Species: Human mutant

Citizenship: Egyptian

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/apocalypse_84.jpg

Apocalypse, a hundred years into the future of Moira X's ninth life.

  • A Lighter Shade of Black: A genocidal mutant who destroyed all the Avengers of his world is still preferable to a Nimrod, a robotic overlord that subjugates mutants and humans alike. It helps that he learned to genuinely care for his species as opposed to simply acting as a Social Darwinist. In addition, Nimrod notes that Apocalypse and his followers actually saved ordinary humans caught in the crossfire, which is something that he isn't known for at all.
  • Big Good: The traditional Big Bad for many X-Men stories becomes the leader of the team in the Bad Future.
  • The Emperor: Conquers Asia and rules it before Nimrod becomes active and forces mutantkind to retreat to Asteroid K.
  • Foreshadowing: For the 616 version of Apocalypse's more noble side. Before the Krakoan era Apocalypse was nothing more than a Social Darwinist monster. The 616 version of the character would prove to be somewhat of a saviour for mutantkind, albeit using brutal methods when necessary. The life IX version gave us a glimpse of what Apocalypse could be if he fought alongside the X-men, rather than against them.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Yes, really. He finally realizes that the ultimate threat to mutankind is not the threat of weakness, but an army of killer robots that hunt their species down.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He stays behind to cover Wolverine's escape. Nimrod slaughter's him.
  • The Worf Effect: Nimrod utterly destroys him in single combat, although he is able to destroy one of Nimrod's duplicates.

Man-Machine Ascendancy (X + 100, X + 1000)

    Nimrod the Lesser

Nimrod the Lesser

Species: Sentinel

Citizenship: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nimrod_the_lesser.jpg

The leader of the Man-Machine Ascendancy, engaged in a war against mutants.

  • Affably Evil: Polite to his subjects, to the point of calling them equals. He also genuinely apologizes to his enemies, with regret that he must do it.
  • Anti-Villain: It's hard to even see him as truly evil, but a product of the Crapsack World he lives in.
  • Bad Boss: He gleefully executes his own human hunters.
  • Big Bad: Presented as the main villain 100 years into the future.
  • Fantastic Racism: Doesn't like mutants, much like many other Marvel villains. Unlike most examples, however, Nimrod is much more three-dimensional and justified in his contempt for mutants. Even then, he doesn't appear to hate the mutants themselves but what they've done to the world.
  • Mood-Swinger: At times, he can alternate between cold bombast, and acting like... well, a little kid (in the body of a killer robot), as seen with his practically squeeing when Omega Sentinel lets him have his way.

    Nimrod the Greater

Nimrod the Greater

Species: Sentinel

Citizenship: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nimrod_the_greater.jpg

The leader of the Man-Machine Ascendancy, in the year 1000.

    The Librarian

The Librarian

Species: Homo novissima

Citizenship: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/librarian_earth_trn753_from_powers_of_x_vol_1_1_001.jpg

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His skin is a pale blue.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: He actually tells Logan and Moira about what's going to happen because he's not entirely convinced becoming part of the Phalanx is actually for the best.
  • Eternal English: Sort of. He can speak English, but that's because he's been spying on Logan and Moira.
  • Smug Super: Boasts that he can predict Wolverine's attacks and see them coming. Logan manages to stab and kill him anyway.
