  • After being kicked out of his home, Stanley Pines tries to make money as a treasure hunter and later as a travelling salesman, and also spends some time in a Columbian cartel. Stanford attends Backupsmore University and, by working hard, earns a PhD three years early and is awarded a large grant for his own research into (Gravity Falls)
  • Alphonse "Big Boy" Caprice dies from shock and old age after his final revenge against Dick Tracy fails. (Dick Tracy)
  • Henry Starling meets U.S. President Richard Nixon in the Oval Office. (Star Trek: Voyager)
  • By this time, over 75% of the world's population are under the age of 21. (Logan's Run)
  • Nazi Germany and Japan defeat the United States and Canada in the Third World War. Nuclear weapons are extensively used with Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia being completely destroyed. Before its defeat, however, the US inflicts significant damage on Germany. After the war, millions of Jewish-Americans and African-Americans are murdered in concentration camps, reducing the United States population by one third from its pre-war levels. In the 2010s, the US still has to pay war reparations to Germany on an annual basis. (In the Presence of Mine Enemies)

  • October 31: Harry Dresden is born timing (The Dresden Files)
  • The Third Doctor is exiled to Earth and becomes unpaid scientific advisor to U.N.I.T. for a five year period from 1970-1974 or from 1976-1980 or possibly from 1979-1983 or maybe even for any other five year period concurrent with these. timing(Doctor Who)
    • Although his exile is officially rescinded during this period, the Third Doctor chooses to remain based on Earth for the duration of his life. Upon regenerating, the Fourth Doctor decides to cut official ties with UNIT and resume his wandering, though will occasionally return to assist them at various points which may fall between 1974-1980 note (Doctor Who)

  • January 1: Trevor McPhee is returned to Earth after being abducted by the aliens for the second time. As before, ten years have passed and he has not aged a day. He discovers not only that his wife Theresa has divorced him and gotten remarried to Ray Carter but that he has a son named Mark who was conceived during his last return on January 1, 1960. That night, Trevor is then abducted for the third time. (The Outer Limits (1995))
  • January 20: Madeleine Wallace receives news that her cheating husband had died in a car crash in South America. (AmĂ©lie)
  • January: A young River Song regenerates in New York. (Doctor Who)
  • February 15: J.R. Ewing and Sue Ellen Shepard are married for the first time. (Dallas)
  • February 28: Jeremy Berg disappears. (The 4400)
  • February: The time traveler Jeffrey Jones lands a hijacked Boeing 747 with the assistance of an air traffic controller. He manages to save everyone onboard, including future U.S. President Jimmy Carter. (Voyagers!)
  • March 17: Jonathan murders his wife Pamela. (Night Gallery)
  • March 30: Shortly after midnight at the Meadow Stud in Caroline County, Virginia, the broodmare Somethingroyal gives birth to a colt fathered by legendary sire Bold Ruler. The colt was eventually named Secretariat. (Real Life)
  • April 3: Sarah Bohm is born. (Touch (2012))
  • April 4: Colonel Owen Crawford, his son Eric and Lt. Colonel Marty Erickson investigate a crop circle in a cornfield in eastern Indiana as the colonel believes that it may be one of a series of landing strips that the aliens placed around the world in preparation for their invasion. He stakes his career on it and asks U.S. President Richard Nixon to personally inspect the site. Nixon instead sends Toby Woodruff of the Department of Defense and Ted Olsen of the NSA. While observing the crop circle in a helicopter, Crawford and the others see another in the vicinity. It is in the shape of a peace symbol and has the word "Howdy" written beside it. As a result, Crawford's career is ruined. He later learns that it was a prank orchestrated by the leading debunker Tom Clarke in revenge for Crawford breaking his mother Sally's heart and kidnapping his younger half-brother Jacob in 1959.   • April 6: The archaeologist Dr. Powell and his students Sarah, Buzz and Daryl find a mummy wrapped in a shroud in a burial chamber while searching for Tsimshian artifacts in Hyder, Alaska. The chamber is covered with strange writing that they are unable to identify. (Taken)
  • April 7:
    • Sam Beckett leaps into Herbert "Magic" Williams, a member of his elder brother Tom's platoon in Vietnam. According to Ziggy, Sam's mission is to ensure that three American POWs are rescued but Sam intends to use the opportunity to save Tom's life. (Quantum Leap)
    • Colonel Owen Crawford is relieved of his position as the head of the UFO project after 23 years. His long-time subordinate Lt. Colonel Marty Erickson succeeds him. (Taken)
  • April 8:
    • In the original timeline, Tom Beckett is killed in Vietnam. (Quantum Leap)
    • After Sam Beckett changes history, journalist Maggie Dawson is killed in Vietnam. (Quantum Leap)
  • April 11: Vietnam veteran Jesse Keys arrives in Chicago, which is close to his home town of Bement, Illinois. He and his dealer Willie, a former member of his unit, shoot themselves up with heroin. When Willie asks him what's the weirdest thing that he has ever seen, Jesse says that he has been taken aboard a flying saucer multiple times and once saw his father Russell, who had recently died, on one of them. Grateful that Jesse saved his life twice in Vietnam, Willie cuts off his supply in the hope that he will go straight. (Taken)
  • April 12: Sam Crawford, a journalism student at UC Berkeley, returns home to Las Vegas as he heard that his father Colonel Owen Crawford lost his job. He almost immediately gets into an argument with both his father and his elder brother Eric about the UFO project. Sam believes that it is a nothing more than a conspiracy designed to distract people from the real issues such as the Vietnam War and the secret testing of chemical weapons on innocent civilians. That night, Sam sees an article about the discovery of the mummy in Hyder, Alaska. He realizes that the writing on the burial chamber walls matches that on the artifact found at the Roswell crashsite which his mother Anne briefly showed him on October 28, 1962. After revealing that the alien threat is very real, Owen tells Sam that Jacob Clarke showed him all of his memories and all of his fears and even how he would die in 1959. Eric, who has always been jealous of Sam because he is their father's favorite, eavesdrops on their conversation. (Taken)
  • April 13:
    • The oxygen tank on board Apollo 13 explodes, threatening the lives of the crew, and forcing the crew to return to Earth. (Real Life, Apollo 13)
    • This is due to Lunarians not wanting Earthlings to land on the Moon. (Touhou Project)
    • Colonel Owen Crawford believes that the explosion of the oxygen tank is a sign of NASA's growing incompetence rather than one of alien interference. However, he admits to his son Eric that he would have used it as evidence of an impending invasion if he were still in charge of the UFO project. (Taken)
    • The explosion is caused by a baseball belonging to Casper the Friendly Ghost hitting a button marked "DANGER." (The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper)
  • April 16:
    • Sam Crawford travels to Hyder, Alaska to investigate the strange writing found in the burial chamber. Almost as soon as he arrives, he learns from the archaeologist Dr. Powell that the mummy is no more than six years old and that it was wrapped in bedsheets. (Taken)
    • Jesse Keys attempts to sell his father Russell's World War II medals to his dealer Willie in order to get more heroin. When Willie is disgusted by his actions, Jesse realizes that he has hit rock bottom. (Taken)
  • April 17:
    • Sheriff Kerby orders Dr. Powell and his students Sarah, Buzz and Daryl to leave Hyder, Alaska by sundown, which Sam Crawford finds suspicious considering that they discovered the body of an apparent murder victim. The group then discovers that the mummy has disappeared. Sam finds that whoever took it left behind the imprint of an inhuman hand. Daryl and a young girl named Wendy Rankin both get lost in the woods. (Taken)
    • Jesse Keys goes to the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Chicago but collapses before he can admit himself. Nurse Amelia Henderson comes to his aid. (Taken)
  • April 18:
    • Jesse Keys and Amelia Henderson go for hot dogs in the park near the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Chicago. While there, Jesse has an hallucination involving the carny that he often sees when the aliens abduct him and attacks an innocent bystander. Later that day, Jesse refuses to accept the Bronze Star and Purple Heart that he earned in Vietnam. He confides in Amelia that what he did wasn't brave because he knew that nothing could hurt him, telling her that "they" saved him when his unit was attacked in a temple in the Quảng Ninh Province. However, he does not explain who "they" are. (Taken)
    • An elderly man named Leo tells Sam Crawford that his daughter Nadine was impregnated by an alien. She gave birth to twin boys named Larry and Lester, who were disfigured and possessed strange abilities. As a result, the townspeople feared them. Before he can explain any further, Sheriff Kerby arrives and takes Sam into the woods with the intention of killing him. However, Sam escapes and makes his way to the old cabin where Lester lives in seclusion. He learns that Lester has been taking care of the injured Wendy Rankin. A posse led by Wendy's mother Louise then arrives and begins to spread gasoline around the cabin in order to kill Lester. Sam convinces them to stop but his brother Eric shows up and announces his intention to bring Lester back to the UFO project for study. After one of the locals starts a fire, Sam rushes into the cabin to save Lester. However, he sees all of his memories and all of his fears when he looks into Lester's eyes. They are unable to escape and they both burn to death in the fire. (Taken)

  • April: Death of recently activated Slayer Beryl McKenzie. A new Slayer is activated in northern Poland. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • May 4: Eric Crawford brings his newborn baby Mary over to his father Owen's house in Las Vegas. However, he is annoyed that, even in these circumstances, Owen is still talking about Sam. Eric then tells his father that Sam is dead and that he died trying to bring him down. Owen is so shocked and distraught by the news that he suffers a stroke. As he dies, Eric taunts him by saying that he brought about his own death, claiming that he could have avoided it if he had simply been a little nicer to him. (Taken)

  • May 27: Jesse Keys proposes to Amelia Henderson, who says yes. (Taken)
  • May 28:
    • Eric and Julie Crawford move into his late father Owen's house in Las Vegas with their one-month-old baby Mary. After a locksmith opens his father's safe for him, Eric finds the artifact from the Roswell crashsite. (Taken)
    • Sheriff Kerby destroys the burial chamber in Hyder, Alaska with dynamite. (Taken)
  • May: Birth of Cameron Mitchell. The fact that this occurs nine months after SG-1's time-travel incursion is a total coincidence. (Stargate SG-1)
  • June 5: The 21-year-old Eric Crawford blackmails the US government into putting him in charge of the UFO project by threatening to go public with his late father Owen's extensive files on everything that has happened since the crash of the alien ship in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. (Taken)
  • June 8: Lt. Colonel Marty Erickson is arrested as an accessory to the murders of Anne Crawford and Major Howard Bowen by Colonel Owen Crawford on October 28, 1962 as he obtained the car that Owen drove from the Groom Lake motorpool. Owen and Anne's son Eric, who told the police of Erickson's supposed involvement, succeeds him as the head of the UFO project. (Taken)
  • June 16: Brian Piccolo, a running back with the Chicago Bears before being diagnosed with cancer, dies of his disease. (Real Life and Brian's Song)
  • June 25: Peter Conway is born. (Moonbase 3)
  • July 4: Saturday in the park - people dancing, people laughing, a man selling ice cream singing Italian songs. ("Saturday in the Park")

  • September: After breaking up with her boyfriend of two years Bill, Mary Richards moves to Minneapolis and is hired as the associate news producer at WJM-TV. (The Mary Tyler Moore Show)
  • October 3: Jeffrey Jones is born. (Voyagers!)
  • October: A drifter named Hall is hired to help clean out an old textile mill in Maine, and discovers a sub-basement sealed off from the rest of the world that has evolved it's own ecosystem consisting of a variety of massive, savage rats. (Graveyard Shift)
  • October: Private investigator Carl Faubert arrives at Atamipek Lake to investigate a vandalism case. (Kona)
  • November 13: Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that some day he would return to her. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his friend, Oscar Madison. Several years earlier, Madison's wife had thrown HIM out, requesting that HE never return. Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy? (The Odd Couple)
  • November 14: Southern Airways Flight 932, a chartered flight carrying Marshall University's football team from a game at East Carolina University, crashes about a mile short of its planned landing at Tri-State Airport, near Marshall's home of Huntington, West Virginia, killing all on board.   • November 20: Charlotte "Charlie" Wade is born. (Dallas)
  • November 22: Sam Beckett leaps into a 25-year-old Native American man named George Washakie in Nevada. He is there to bring George's terminally ill grandfather Joseph Washakie back to his people's ancestral lands so that he can die at home. (Quantum Leap)
  • December: Current Slayer dies in the Polish riots. Nikki Wood becomes the Slayer. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Delta Green is disbanded again. (Cthulhu Mythos, Delta Green)
  • Skull Man/Tatsuo Kagura starts a series of mass murders and catastrophes all over Japan. The Sociopathic Hero is on a path of vengeance. (Skull Man)
  • Birth of Khan Noonien Singh, one of many genetically-engineered superhuman, as a result of the Chrysalis Project. Khan would grow up to become an absolute ruler. (Star Trek: The Eugenics Wars)

    • Private eye John Shaft is hired to rescue a harlem mobster's daughter from The Mafia. (Shaft)
  • February 2: Sam Beckett leaps into a parapyschologist named Dr. Timothy Mintz in California. He is there to prevent a young widow named Troian Claridge, who claims to be able to hear the voice of her late husband Julian, from drowning. (Quantum Leap)
  • February: Genjiro Kaneda opens a pub, which is actually a front for illegal moneylending. (Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind)
  • March 2: Ada Burn Quigley dies. (Night Gallery)
  • March 22: Will Byers is born. (Stranger Things)
  • April 1: A fleet of fleet of nine ships, consisting of the flagship Discovery and eight freighters, bound for Mars is launched from the Moon. (Journey into Space)
  • April 3:
    • An asteroid lands in Japan, bearing the alien race that calls itself the Natives. They begin working with humanity to develop the armored combat system later dubbed the Masked Rider System. (Kamen Rider Kabuto)
    • Stephen "Mitch" Mitchell almost drifts off into space but he is rescued by Jet Morgan and Lemmy Barnet. (Journey into Space)
  • May 12: Sam Beckett leaps into a death row inmate named Jesus Ortega, who is about to be executed in the electric chair. in Tallahassee, Florida. He is there to ensure that Jesus' co-accused Raul Casta is exonerated. (Quantum Leap)
  • June 21: Birth of Johnny, known as Johnny Truant, to Donnie and Pelafina Heather Lievre _____________. (House of Leaves)
  • June 23: Cathy Briscoe is born. (Law & Order)
  • June: Perry Rhodan lands on the moon in the STARDUST. They find a bunch of aliens which chrashed because the navigator was to lazy to divert the course. Their leaders come to Earth, because they need help to build a ship to complete their mission. To remain neutral in the cold war, the Third Power is made in the Godbi desert. They also get a 50m tender to help the defenses of this new base. Later that year an alien invasion happens, the 50m tender defeats the invasion with the help of Rhodan's ingenuity, and the allies finally stop trying to kill this new power all the time.   • July 2: Benny Faulkner is born. (Dimension X)
  • August 5: Ben Song leaps into Lois Mitchell, a flight attendant on a transatlantic flight. He's there to make sure that the flight doesn't crash and kill everyone aboard. (Quantum Leap (2022))
  • August: Yuri and Masha Peltrovich are married. (St. Elsewhere)
  • September: Liam and Debra Moone are married. (Moone Boy)
  • September 18: In Marshall University's first football game since the November 1970 plane crash that killed all 75 on board, including 37 players and most of the coaching staff, a makeshift Thundering Herd team loses 29–6 to Morehead State University. (Real Life and We Are Marshall; the film uses the historically accurate score)
  • September 25: In Marshall's first home game since the crash, the Thundering Herd beat Xavier University (of Cincinnati) 15–13. (Real Life and We Are Marshall; the film also uses the historically accurate score)
  • October:
    • The flagship Discovery and seven of the eight freighters that set off from the Moon arrive at Mars. Jet Morgan is believed to be the first person to set foot on the planet's surface but it is later learned that Martians have been abducting humans and bringing them to their planet since at least 1879.     • The North Vietnamese Army overruns Firebase Valley Forge. The only survivor of either side is Captain Frank Castle, who seemingly massacred every remaining enemy soldier by himself, despite the impossibility of this task. (The Punisher: Born)
  • Between August and October: Ye Wenjie performs an unauthorised experiment, using the Sun as am amplifier for an interstellar radio broadcast. (The Three-Body Problem)
  • November 5: Sara James disappears. (The 4400)
  • November 9: Genjiro Kaneda orders Toshio Tazaki to pay his debt in full by the next day. (Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind)
  • November 10: Genjiro Kaneda and Shinobu Asakawa are murdered; Asakawa's body is never found. Toshi Tazaki plasters a wall. The Girl Who Stands Behind is first seen by Hisako Hayama. Goro Kaneda inherits his father's fortune. (Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind)

  • November 24:
    • Cooper DeMeers disappears. (The 4400)
    • After losing a bet to Thor, Loki assumes the identity of Dan "D.B." Cooper, hijacks a plane, steals $200,000, parachutes out of the plane, and escapes back to Asgard through the Bifrost. (Loki)
  • November: Teruhiko Uchida, lead suspect in the murder of Genjiro Kaneda, commits suicide. His son, Tatsuya, moves to a different school more
  • December 22: Sam Beckett leaps into Willie Walters, Jr., who is robbing the bank with his brothers Neil and John, in his home town of Elk Ridge, Indiana. He is there to prevent the Walters brothers from being killed as they try to escape from the bank. (Quantum Leap)
  • Alexander Ashford uses his DNA and that of his ancestor, Veronica, to create two children, Alexia and Alfred. (Resident Evil – Code: Veronica)
  • Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Namor the Sub-Mariner and the Silver Surfer first join forces as The Defenders. (Marvel Comics)
  • The Avengers become involved in an interstellar war between the Kree and Skrulls. (Marvel Comics)
  • Godzilla battles Hedorah. (Godzilla vs. Hedorah)
  • Harry Callahan confronts serial killer Scorpio. (Dirty Harry)
  • The international terrorist organization Shocker begins kidnapping people and turning them into half-animal cyborg super-soldiers. College student Takeshi Hongo (codenamed "Hopper") escapes before he can be brainwashed and begins fighting Shocker as the superhero Kamen Rider. Shocker turns freelance photographer Hayato Ichimonji into a second "Hopper" in order to fight Hongo, but he likewise rebels and becomes Kamen Rider 2. (Kamen Rider)
  • Shocker discovers a lost Core Medal dropped by the time travelling Greeed Ankh and uses it to retake control of the Double Riders and take over the world. Kamen Rider OOO and the Kamen Rider Den-O team return to this time to set things right. (OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders)
  • In Madrid, Otavio Consone kills Rafael for daring to be romantically involved with Anna Hidalgo, a dancer on whom he (Otavio) had his eye. He promises Anna that this is only the first stage of his revenge. (Highlander: The Series)

  • Al Bundy and Peggy Wanker get married. (Married... with Children)

  • Facing bankruptcy, Aperture Science offers the homeless sixty dollars to perform scientific experiments with Propulsion Gel and the Aperture Science Portable Quantum Tunneling Device, with a sixty dollar bonus if they agree to be taken apart and have "science stuff" implanted inside. (Portal 2)
  • Nicholas Ballard discovers a mysterious crystal skull in Belize. It briefly transports him to another planet, a fact that he can never convince anyone of. (Stargate SG-1)
  • A driver and a mechanic in a 1955 Chevy are challenged to a race across America by a man in a GTO. (Two-Lane Blacktop)
  • Ernst Stavro Blofeld attempts to hold the world hostage with his orbital laser. (Diamonds Are Forever)
  • David Mann is tailgated by a homicidal trucker. (Duel)
  • Dracula returns from death when Cliffton Graves removes a stake from his heart. (The Tomb of Dracula #1)
  • Countercultural activist Manny Rosenberg helps incite a riot. He goes on the lam and, as of 1996, is still being hunted by the FBI. (3rd Rock from the Sun)
  • *Creeper, the first self-replicating AI spawned by *Mother, appears on ARPANET. (Digital: A Love Story, date taken from Real Life)
  • The SCP Foundation discovers SCP-3000 in the Bay of Bengal shortly after the disappearance of two Bangladeshi fishing boats and their fifteen crew members, most likely eaten by SCP-3000. (SCP Foundation)
