openQuestion on ParentsInDistress and ExtremelyProtectiveChild Western Animation
I've got a question regarding the recent movie Wolfwalkers and the Parents in Distress and Extremely Protective Child tropes.
Mebh is the daughter of Moll who (while in her wolf form) is captured and caged. When Mebh finds out why her mom has been missing for days, she goes ballistic in her attempts to free her in a way that fits both tropes.
The question is that because the main story of the movie takes place over just 2-3 days, the story picks up with Moll already in a Parents in Distress situation although Mebh doesn't learn about this until 2/3 through. We don't see enough of Mebh and Moll together outside of the "distress" circumstances for the movie to say that Mebh is always extremely protective.
Because they are Wolfwalkers, Mebh and Moll have a certain degree of "pack mentality" and from what we see of Mebh's personality you could build a case that she would always be instinctively protective of an obvious physical threat to Moll. However, as Meb is only 8 years old, it's hard to see her picking up on emotional threats to be defensive about, nor would Moll, who is shown as a protective mother, be encouraging her daughter to put her safety at risk.
As such I feel that the movie only fully justifies the Parents in Distress trope but leaves the Extremely Protective Child trope open to "maybe, kinda" but still speculative.
Feedback welcome.
Edited by rva98014openQuestionable Entry under Groin Attack
Found this in Live-Action Films - scroll to the bottom of the list.
- Disturbingly common in superhero porn like Japanese Adult Video or the Western counterpart of it, usually done to humiliate the superhero. Unless the hero/heroine has Super Toughness (that didn't get depowered), the heroic victim may have a bigger body than the villainous perpetrator, which give all the more reason for the smaller villain to attack the hero's weak point down there. Most of the time, the heroes are compromised almost immediately after their gut/crotch is hit. Not even their Super Toughness can protect them.
Uhh, dafuq? Does that line even sound acceptable, or maybe I'm just a bit of a prude?
openThe Mandalorian edit war Live Action TV
I was told by a mod to try for help here. On The Mandalorian, Overfiend moved 24-Hour Armor twice. I had moved it back as this seemed to be in the wrong place per the order on the pages. They then moved it back. Everybody in the discussion agrees that the first place was correct, while regardless they've violated the rule against edit warring. So can I have this moved back by a mod?
Edited by FirebloodopenAlternate Titles
I was wondering how to add alternate titles to a work page? The work in question is Tomb of Horrors. Since that page also contains tropes for Tomb of Annihilation, I wanted to make sure linking to Tomb of Annihilation would take you there.
open Edit War
On January 20th, Tropers.Theriocephalus added a spot of parabombing to Our Hydras Are Different.
On February 13th, I removed it on grounds of natter and notified them. That same day, they re-added the offending text. It is without the parenthesis, but the info is all but the same and still comes off as natter-ish. No further discussion was attempted from the other party.
It is add, delete, re-add, and thus constitutes an Edit War.
Edited by TheNerfGuyopenEdit war Western Animation
I reverted some of the recently caught ban evader's entries on YMMV.Tangled The Series and noticed an edit war:
- Neko Hybrid added an entry on BrokenBase.Tangled The Series.
- Unicornia 1, the ban evader, moved it to YMMV.Tangled The Series under here. They put it under Wangst without changing it otherwise.
- AGT Magic rewrote it to minimize complaining: their edit reason says, "Like many edits to this page and the Base Breaker one, it comes across like a means of venting anger at Cassandra."
- In the next edit on the page, Neko Hybrid reverted it to the way it originally was without an edit reason.
- AGT Magic changed it back, restating their point about the original entry being biased.
- Neko Hybrid changed the entry yet again with no edit reason.
Edit: Added the first bullet. As Kevjro 7 pointed out here, I missed the first step.
Edited by Tenebrikaopen Troper seems to have a problem with "bashing" Fairy Tail.
A troper by the name of Zero Hunter seems to have a Single-Issue Wonk when it comes to the series Fairy Tail. They appear to be going on to random pages and deleting examples that they believe are "bashing" the series.
I'm sure this would be fine, but I feel a problem arrises when their edit reason only consist of the phrase "Getting rid of pointless bashing." and nothing else, leaving no actual reason as to how these examples are bashing the series. Some examples include this edit for Ms. Fanservice (which also turned two examples into Zero-Context Examples), outright deleting several tropes from the series' YMMV page (which have since been restored), and editing other tropers predictions on the series' WMG page (which, as far as I'm aware, isn't against the rules, but is considered extremely rude), among many other edits.
Basically, I feel this troper may be a problem and should probably be discussed.
Edit: After looking through their edit history a bit more, I've also noticed that Zero seems to do the same with EDENS ZERO (a manga by the same author of Fairy Tail), as seen with their edits to one of the series' character pages.
Also, while I've tried to avoid being rude in this post, after looking through their edits, I feel at this point I should say this: It seems that Zero's definition of "bashing" is actually "anything I perceive as slightly negative to these series" (even when the trope itself isn't negative in nature).
Edited by lpk675openUseful Notes on The New '20s
Should UsefulNotes. The New Twenties be updated of what has happened with the rest of 2020 and early 2021, or should we wait?
If so, then I might need a list on the most important highlights without being overwhelemed with walls of texts, so that it can be added to the Locked Pages and Edit Requests thread.

openCatra Character Page Alterations
A troper going by Bannedd567 has gone on a large editing blitz on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power ā Catra, making large, sweeping modifications and intentionally altering things to remove mention of the character's misdeeds and whitewash her, their edit reason stating that the entries depicting what happens in the series are "biased" and "not objective" in their sole edit reason for this massive thing. While I'd otherwise take this up on the discussion page, it is coming shortly after some contention over the page, and due to the troper's username and said contention, I believe the two events may be related.
Edit: Courtesy link to their major edit.
Second Edit: As Starcrusher notes below, their grammar is also not very good.

Does anyone know any other videos of cowgirls having showdowns at high noon? Like in movies, tv shows, commercials, etc?
openNeed a page reverted by a mod Western Animation
On February 12th, the user Golden Seal suddenly changed the entire formatting of entries on the So Bad Its Horrible page for Western Animation. Consensus on the SBIH Cleanup thread agrees that the change wasn't discussed by anyone, and there was no description added to the entry. Would it be possible to revert it back?
openRed Riding Hood Replica
A Troper named Wyldchyld has been repeatedly removing Ruby Rose as an example of Red Riding Hood Replica on the grounds they feel that she fits Little Red Fighting Hood better. I feel that this does not make any sense. Both tropes can apply to the same character and overlap. Should we restore it as an example and caution Wyldchyld about potentially starting an edit war?
openFanfic Shilling?
So the troper Bharjwarj https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=Bharjwarj decided to make a new fanfic page which reads more like it was supposed to be put in Fanfic recommendations. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/FlatDreams.
"Flat Dreams is one of the most influential Gravity Falls fanfics out there. It focuses on Bill Cipher's past and how he grew up in a society very similar to that of Edwin Abbott's Flat Land. The reader watches as his life and relationships progress to where he was by the time of the show. It's pretty incredible."
That is the entirety of the page with no tropes or anything else.
openDifferentiating between Franchise and Work with the same name
If I want to differentiate between a franchise and a work with the same name, should I use a custom title to change the franchise page to Name (Franchise) as it is, or should I move it to NameFranchise first and then custom title it to Name (Franchise)?
openEyes of Eiselcross Arc Web Original

openUseful notes on Today's featured trope
It's the second time in a row I see a Useful Notes page on Today's featured trope, first Useful Notes/Buddhism, now George Washington. Is it a bug?
Is there a place where I can get help moving wicks (such as when it comes to moving articles)?
