*** In "Destinies Collide," Cassandra [[spoiler:backstabs the team by taking the Moonstone for herself and taunts Rapunzel for being too trusting.]] Some feel this is an interesting and natural development and a tragedy, and for others, this comes out of the left field (seeing as [[spoiler:she'd already achieved the glory and recognition as a hero she'd sought her whole life by leading the Royal Guards in her father's place to rescue the queen in the season 1 finale]], so why would throw that all away out of petty jealousy?), and/or she loses her sympathetic qualities and puts the whole world in danger just to feed her ego. On the other hand, Cassandra's badassery goes up a few notches with [[spoiler:her becoming a PersonOfMassDestruction, so her fans think she's [[EvilIsCool cool]] and [[EvilIsSexy hot]] as a villainess. Fans are also divided over whether she is a complex and relatable TragicVillain, or a petty, selfish [[TheFarmerAndTheViper viper]].]]

** "Rapunzel and the Great Tree" brought us Hector, who immediately got positive reception basically for [[EvilIsCool a]] couple [[EvilIsSexy reasons]], while fans also appreciate the HiddenDepths that are suggested with him, particularly in regards to his relationship with Adira.

* EvilIsSexy:
** [[DarkActionGirl Lady Caine]] is both ruthless and rather attractive.
** [[spoiler:Varian]] almost seems to try and invoke this by [[spoiler:drawing]] a goatee on his chin during his Season 3 appearance while he [[spoiler:is pretending to still be evil so he can wipe everyone's memories,]] making himself look more mature in addition to sporting a darker, cooler villain outfit. [[spoiler:Once he reforms the goatee gets rubbed off and he loses the outfit.]]
** There's a good chunk of people who think [[spoiler: evil Cassandra]] looks pretty hot compared to before her villainous nature was revealed, thanks to the [[spoiler: blue hair and black rock armor]] she has.

* EvilIsCool: Hector has quite a few fans who find him cool, which isn't surprising given his striking golden eyes, BloodKnight personality and the fact that he has a pet rhino. [[HorseOfADifferentColor That he rides on]]. He's also the first antagonistic member of the Dark Brotherhood that the heroes encounter.

* CreatorsPet: Cassandra has been mentioned as a fan favorite character to Chris Sonnenburg himself. It became especially apparent in season 3 when she became the main antagonist and equal in power to Rapunzel.

** After his HeelFaceTurn, he is shown to still be heavily affected by his past misdeeds and events, to the point where he expresses moments of sadness and anger over them at certain intervals and is haunted by the prospect of them happening again, indicating he has (or had at the time) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

** Nigel, the royal family's advisor, garnered a fair amount of ire due to him ordering for [[spoiler:Varian]] to be ejected into a blizzard at a time of need, in addition to quickly coming to the incorrect conclusion that he attacked Rapunzel. Besides that, he's seen as too annoying and uptight. Like the Captain, he was somewhat RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap in Season 3 with the episode "Pascal's Dragon" making it at most more understandable why he acts as uptight and strictly cautious as he does ([[spoiler:as the last time he prioritized a friend over the well being of his home and it's people, there were disastrous consequences, so he wasn't willing to take the chance of Rapunzel doing the same in regards to Varian.]])

* AssPull: At the end of "Destinies Collide," [[spoiler:Cassandra pulls FaceHeelTurn. Despite her anger at Rapunzel for what happened to her hand, she had resisted becoming like Varian and betraying her...only for her to still decide to betray her after learning that she was Gothel's daughter, and that Gothel abandoned her for Rapunzel (something which Rapunzel was in no way responsible for...and which was blatantly ''good for Cassandra and bad for Rapunzel'' at that).]]

** [[spoiler:Eugene's real name and title]] is [[Creator/ProZD Prince Horace]].

** Mood-Inverted Rapunzel. Despite only appearing in one episode, she has already gained massive popularity due to her DeadpanSnarker tendencies, and her PeekABangs actually make her strangely more [[IceQueen attractive in an aloof way]].

** Rapunzel's transformation when using the hurt incantation has earned the nickname "Dark Rapunzel" by older fans who have pointed out how her design looks very similar to fanarts of an evil Rapunzel. Others have jokingly called her "Emo Raps" due to all the bad emo fanarts and designs by fangirls in various fan pages who would often just badly color Raps hair black, though "Emo Raps" is more commonly used for Rapunzel's grumpy PeekABangs-having self from [[Recap/TangledTheSeriesS1E18NotInTheMood Not in the Mood]].

*** In the series finale those who disliked Cassandra's behaviour in Season 3 got an even greater catharsis when [[spoiler: Zhan Tiri steals the Moonstone from her seconds before she can cement her victory over Rapunzel. After doing this and assuming her true form, Zhan Tiri gives a scathing TheReasonYouSuckSpeech calling Cassandra out on her ego. This has the effect of ending Cassandra's villainy [[HeelFaceTurn for good]].]]

** The citizens of Vardaros (except for Vex and Quaid) haven't won over many fans due to the fact that they all act as very unpleasant {{Jerkass}}es towards Rapunzel, even though she sticks up for them ''twice'' against the Baron's men when she could have just abandoned them to their fate. With the exception of Vex and Quaid, not one of them shows a single iota of gratitude towards her and they [[KarmaHoudini suffer no consequences]] for how horribly they treat her. What's worse is that they are a horrible reminder of how Uncle Monty's initial characterisation was, except they come off as even ''worse'' since Monty at least ''has redeeming qualities'', even in his divisive debut episode.

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Quite a few questions about the original film--that Rapunzel seems to have good social skills despite growing up in isolation, her readiness to be queen, how her relationship with her parents would work after 18 years apart--are explored in the series. Although Rapunzel is friendly, she struggles with social niceties (like bear hugging guests), and her parents have to balance reconnecting with their daughter and teaching her how to be royalty.
** We are shown that Rapunzel [[AngstWhatAngst hasn't quite forgotten about the past 18 years of her life]] (as the movie's ending seemed to indicate), as she is shown to occasionally have nightmares about Mother Gothel and is quite apprehensive about returning to her tower when one episode's plot involves her and Eugene returning to it.
** Some fans took issue with how at the end of the movie, Eugene was EasilyForgiven by just about everyone despite being a former thief who stole the princess's tiara, a crime that warranted him a death sentence. The series goes to show that he is still not forgiven by everyone for this, especially by Cassandra and her father.
** A frequent complaint about the show's pilot movie was King Frederic's demeanor seemed too strict and overbearing, no matter how justified it might be from his point of view. The first episode of the show has Frederic openly admitting to his wife that he acted out of line and feels guilty about it. As a result, the rest of the show has him loosening up and frequently showing that he's NotSoAboveItAll while still keeping his personal failings and the overprotective measures he takes to keep Rapunzel safe from harm a major part of the first season's plot, with only the last couple of episodes unfortunately veering him back towards UnintentionallyUnsympathetic territory before [[CharacterDevelopment he finally wises up and allows Rapunzel to choose her own course for her life.]] Frederic continues to be a more likable character in Season 3, having learned from the mistakes he made in Season 1, giving Rapunzel all the space she needs to grow into her own as a future ruler.
** Rapunzel's nightmare vision of Varian in "Happiness Is...." can be seen as a way for the show to say "We haven't forgotten about him, but we're still saving him up for something bigger in Season 3", since if it wasn't for this scene Varian wouldn't have ''any'' presence in Season 2 at all beyond a throwaway mention by Adira in relation to Quirin in "Rapunzel and the Great Tree".
** For people upset with the original film's liberties with the original fairy tale, the twist that [[spoiler: Eugene is really a long-lost prince, the son of the Dark King, which had been a deleted concept from the original film]] can be this.
** In Season 1, there was a complaint regarding how [[spoiler:Rapunzel, Eugene, and Cassandra [[WithFriendsLikeThese weren't good friends towards Varian]] and [[CreateYourOwnVillain unwittingly]] contributed to his StartOfDarkness. Case in point: Rapunzel never checked on Varian after the blizzard was over, apparently forgot about him begging for the help she had promised him for the next couple of months, and acts surprised when Varian mentions how he had to lie low due to the people of Corona believing he attacked Rapunzel despite knowing about the false rumor. Eugene and Cassandra, meanwhile, didn't check on Varian ''either'' and were quick to turn on Varian because of that same false rumor even though they supposedly had faith in him. In Season 3, they (or at least Rapunzel and Eugene) are ''much'' more compassionate, kind, and caring towards Varian following his HeelFaceTurn. Rapunzel forgives him for the terrible things he's done, refuses to give up on him, gives encouragement towards him, and saves him several times. On his part, Eugene held Varian close when he was scared, supported him heartwarmingly, and helped him with the fourth incantation. Even ''Cassandra'' was reluctant to harm or kill Varian, despite taking him prisoner.]]

** A common complaint that's lodged at the third season is that [[spoiler:the arc involving Cassandra's FaceHeelTurn is simultaneously rushed and overly drawn out. The season premiere, "Rapunzel's Return", sets her up to be the main antagonist of the season after she's fallen to the dark side. Then it takes the next twelve episodes, until the season is already over halfway over, for her to start moving against Rapunzel and doing evil deeds. The following episodes each double down on how heinous and murderous Cassandra has become, lost in her own misplaced wrath and vengeance, while the show insists through Rapunzel that she can be redeemed. A few episodes even tease the idea of Cassandra seeing reason and pulling a HeelFaceTurn, before they rather cruelly YankTheDogsChain and have her [[HeelFaceDoorSlam commit to her new evil path with even greater strength than she did before]]. This led to a lot of fans feeling as though Cassandra's redemption in the series finale, "Plus Est En Vous", is rather rushed and unearned as a result, in contrast to Varian having months to think about how terrible his actions were and repeatedly struggling with forgiving ''himself'' even after his redemption.]]

** It's quite common for Cassandra to be paired up with [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Elsa]] in various fanfics where the two meet.

* ThemePairing: ''Fanfic/{{The Royal Protector|Sniperct}}'' pairs together Elsa from ''WesternAnimation/{{Frozen}}'' with Cassandra because they fit a LadyAndKnight theme: Elsa is TheHighQueen and Cassandra is her tomboyish BattleButler.

* IdiotPlot: The story arc of Season 1, which go FromBadToWorse because the major parties involved don't communicate well about it. If the king had been more reasonable about Rapunzel wanting to explore and told her about the spikes in the first place, Cassandra wouldn't have taken Rapunzel to see them, which means that they wouldn't have started growing and [[spoiler:Cassandra wouldn't have been sent to a convent when her father finds out]]. If Quirin had explained to Varian about [[spoiler:secretly telling the king about them in code and he wasn't abandoning their home, Varian wouldn't have gotten his father trapped in his attempts to stop the spikes with alchemy, or become desperate enough to commit treason.]]

*** Cassandra's decision to leave Corona. Was it because she wanted to find her own destiny, or because the people (minus Rapunzel, Eugene, and the Captain) didn't forgive her for her actions? Or both? Furthermore, was this a decision she was allowed to make herself, or had she been exiled from the kingdom as punishment?

** King Frederic, in how he and Arianna are trying to adjust to having a daughter again. He means well, but he still has flashbacks to [[AdultFear when Gothel stole Rapunzel]] and the open window. At his daughter's coronation, he finds out that she sneaked out without his permission, and a petty thief nearly kidnaps him and several Royals. This gets even more pronounced in "The Wrath of Ruthless Ruth", in which we see the extent of just how ''haunted'' he is by the fear of losing Rapunzel again. [[spoiler:It gets worse when he doesn't think through sending EliteMooks to fetch a {{MacGuffin}} from his daughter, which nearly gets her killed and strains their relationship.]]

** [[Recap/TangledTheSeriesS3E05NoTimeLikeThePast "No Time Like The Past"]] is a treat for fans of Youtuber, Voice impressionist and Disney fan Brian Hull as one of the Stabbington Brothers, Teenage Sideburns.
