Well, Wyldchyld did drag another troper named Aquatica 1000 into the affair by asking them to delete the example a second time.
Edited by AjWargo Check out my fanfiction account here!Still, both of these tropes fit Ruby, don’t they? So why should we not include her as an example?
Check out my fanfiction account here!Because it’s generally seen as redundant to have a character be part of the super trope and the sub-trope because if they fit the sub-trope they automatically fit the super trope and it’s preferred to list what fits best iirc.
Macron's notesAlright, then, here’s another reason Ruby should be listed there- she’s the page image and has a video example on that page. These were there before Wyldchyld deleted the example, so it doesn’t make any sense that these would be included, yet Ruby would not be mentioned at all.
Check out my fanfiction account here!Yeah there definitely should have been discussion before the second removal of that example
NVM Looks like there was discussion I guess?
Edited by MacronNotes Macron's notesRight, then. Regardless of their edits, they still engaged in an edit war. A small one, yes, but still an edit war. Does anyone want to inform the moderators?
Check out my fanfiction account here! Please be patient. This query is only 2 hours old they probably haven’t read it yet. We just have to wait until they respond.
Macron's notesIt’s here on the history page for this trope.

The edit needs to be restored now.
"I SHALL UNIFY THE WORLD! FROM ALPHA TO OMEGA... BOW DOWN TO ME!!!"No matter how many times I look at that page I see no edit war. Wyldchyld has ONE edit on the page, and Aquatica 1000 has two: First Aquatica 1000 added back the example that was removed by Wyldchyld, then a few hours later removed it again, apprently after discussion with Wyldchyld (at least that's the impression I get from the edit reason). I see no Edit War: No add-remove-add or remove-add-remove.
Am I misunderstanding something here? If "Wyldchyld has been repeatedly removing Ruby Rose", could you please point out where this was done?
It’s simple. Wyldchyld asking Aquatica to remove the edit is the same thing as him removing the edit themselves, as although Wyldchyld was not responsible for removing the edit, he still had a hand in its removal.
Edited by AjWargo Check out my fanfiction account here! No, it's not. Without knowing what was said when they talked that's just a baseless claim. And unlike mods we can't see P Ms, so we can only guess what was said when they talked.
If you remove an example, I add it back, we discuss it via PM and decide it should stay removed, and then I remove it myself, is that really the same as you removing the example a second time without discussion?
For now let's leave the example off and wait to hear from Wyldchyld and Aquatica.
I understand that. There may not be an edit war, but I still question that this trope doesn’t apply to the same person. At least two other characters have both Red Riding Hood Replica and Little Red Fighting Hood.
Check out my fanfiction account here!I do not know what a super trope is, in this case. As you are the moderator, I would like you to explain what a super and sub trope is, and which is which in this scenario.
Check out my fanfiction account here!Which is why I included a link to the page describing the details.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. So, in this case, the two characters I refer to are B.B. Hood and Chacha. I would assume B.B. Hood would fall more into Little Red Fighting Hood and Chacha more into Red Riding Hood Replica (not counting her anime exclusive Princess form). So, would I have to remove Red Riding Hood Replica from B.B. Hood’s profile?
Check out my fanfiction account here!Subtropes and Supertropes are pretty simple. Imagine for a moment that "Canines" and "Wolves" are tropes. "Canines", being the broader and less-specific trope, is the supertrope to "Wolves". "Wolves", then, is the subtrope, being more specific and having meaning and patterns separate from the main trope.
However, every wolf is a canine, thus every "Wolves" example fits "Canines" by definition. Thus, in writing a work page about White Fang, you wouldn't use both tropes- only the more specific one in order to describe the character more accurately.
In this case, Little Red Fighting Hood is the subtrope. Every example of it also fits as Red Riding Hood Replica, but carries unique meaning and patterns as well. That means that you never list both on the same page- it's redundant. For the same reason, you don't list the same character under Jerkass and Jerk with a Heart of Jerk. If they fit the subtrope, you only list the subtrope.
So yeah, you'd remove Red Riding Hood Replica from B.B. Hood.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallCrazySamaritan hit the nail on the head here. I saw the use of Ruby's picture in the Red Riding Hood Replica page and placed a mention of her in there, forgetting about the superpage/subpage rule. Wyldchyld PMed me explaining the issue, and I undid my edit. I did mention to him in PMs about replacing the image on the trope page (I was unaware that I wasn't the first to be tripped up by the picture, but I figured I wouldn't be the last), and last I heard he's in the process of finding a fitting substitute.
Edited by Aquatica1000When Red Riding Hood Replica first went live, I asked
on the Edit Locked Pages thread if it would be possible to for the mods to undo the edit that was added to the locked Characters.RWBY Team RWBY page. I stated my reason as being due to Ruby already being troped as Little Red Fighting Hood, and that entries placed under a sub-trope aren't normally placed under the super-trope as well. I also mentioned the page image might cause confusion because it was also of Ruby.
The mods undid the edit on the locked page and advised that Image Pickin' should be used for the image. I correspondingly removed the entry from the RRHR page as well. Another troper suggested
on the Edit Locked Pages thread that a composite image might be the way to go.
RRHR also had Ruby as a video example for the page. I was looking at that when I noticed the Ruby entry had been added back to the page. I sent a PM to Aquatica to explain my reasoning for removing it off the page. He agreed to remove it from the page and pointed out the video and image would likely cause confusion. I agreed, and mentioned I was looking for suitable images to suggest in an Image Pickin' thread.
I posted
to the Video moderation requests thread that the video was an example of Little Red Fighting Hood, so could it be moved from RRHR to LRFH. It was subsequently moved. I found a couple of images and opened
an Image Pickin' thread asking about changing the image and suggesting some alternative options. The Image Pickin' thread is currently still locked and waiting for permission to be opened.
I hope this explains the process I went through and clears up any confusion.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Alright. I’m sorry for the accusations towards both of you. Thank you for explain your actions.
Check out my fanfiction account here!No problem. It can be hard to figure out what's going on sometimes.
If you do ever want to discuss any edits I make, please feel free to PM me. That applies to everyone, by the way; I'm always willing to discuss my edits with anyone who has questions or concerns.

A Troper named Wyldchyld has been repeatedly removing Ruby Rose as an example of Red Riding Hood Replica on the grounds they feel that she fits Little Red Fighting Hood better. I feel that this does not make any sense. Both tropes can apply to the same character and overlap. Should we restore it as an example and caution Wyldchyld about potentially starting an edit war?
