openReviving an old (near 1-year old) trope in TLP by deleting it and writing it again?
What the title said. I've been considering reviving one the tropes I proposed a long while back but ignored due to various IRL reasons. Due to me noticing that old enough proposals don't appear on the TLP Activity even if edited, would it be okay to bomb it and recreate it for the sake of visibility?
Edited by MakiropenSpoilers on Film.{{Labyrinth}} Film
Hello. Recently, there was a note regarding that all spoilers on Film.Labyrinth were to be unmarked as per this discussion.
That said, should we unmark all spoilers for the page or should we leave them marked?
openDoes someone have it out for The Loud House and MLP, or am I paranoid?
OK, so a while back I asked on here that all the videos I submitted from The Loud House were given one-star scores. Some time later, I've noticed that videos from both that show and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic seem to have oddly low scores.
Even when they get a good score, it's hardly ever perfect, and I've been seeing a lot of videos from both shows that clearly show the trope, yet they're given "meh" scores.
For instance, a Loud House video I submitted for Canada Eh only has a 3.67 rating, even though it's the most blatant example of Canada, Eh? I can think of. I smell a rat.
Edited by UnicorndanceopenAnime & Manga subsections Anime
I know the question of how to handle anime and manga as media has long caused questions, but now most of our example sections are titled "Anime and Manga". With a few odd exceptions, such as So Bad, It's Good.Anime. This may be because few mangas are listed on the page (bad animation adds a lot to the narm). By contrast, Horrible.Anime And Manga has "Anime" alone as a redirect; meaning SBIG links to Horrible but not the other way around.
Would it be alright if I were to move pages like SBIG to "Anime And Manga", making "Anime" and "Manga" into redirects?
openLengthy trope description.
The description for Evil Cannot Comprehend Good goes on for 30-something paragraphs. That's way too long, isn't it?
openFranchise.ToyStory redirect Western Animation
I have noticed that WesternAnimation.Toy Story seems to be written in the style of a Franchise page, with it listing all the works the series has appeared in and general tropes for the series (pages for the first movie instead go to WesternAnimation.Toy Story 1). Would it be alright if I recreated the cut Franchise.Toy Story page, moved the page's content there and made the WesternAnimation.Toy Story page a redirect to the Franchise page?
Edited by N8han11open Removal of tropes on character page
Face Death with Dignity and One Last Smoke were removed from Characters.Yakuza 0 by Lion King Alex because "Not a character trait, but a plot point." I'm not exactly sure what that means, but is it okay to revert their edits?
openMisremembering a page
Did we have a So Bad, It's Horrible for fanworks at some point? Either I'm mistaken or it's possible that it ended up devolving into just bashing fics so it was removed entirely. It's also possible that I've gotten it mixed up with Dethroning Moment of Suck which does have a fanworks section.
Edited by AkibaPurpleopenVideo example messup Web Original
Hey, so I uploaded a video example for Self-Destruct Mechanism (yes it's 3 am and I'm hyperfixating on The Final Minutes, if you want to know) and I just now realized that the video cropper I used completely cut out the entire countdown sequence and only shows the aftermath. Is there a way that the upload can be denied or something and I can re-upload a better video (with the actual sequence)?
openWork pages or recap pages?
The Murderverse — it's a shared universe of roleplay threads, which raises a question about troping individual entries.
Is something like this more like a series of works, and individual entries get their own work page? Or more like a single episodic work, so individual entries get a recap page?
openLowest Cosmic Denominator crowner
There is currently a TRS thread for the Lowest Cosmic Denominator trope with an active crowner. Should anyone wish to vote on the crowner or otherwise participate, now is the time.
Please do not reply to this post. This is an attempt to draw attention to an important crowner.
openWays to enter another world
How would I find a list of all the ways to enter another world like the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland etc? Thanks.
openIs this troper with agenda? Music
- Men Are the Expendable Gender: The ending of the video seems to take a great amount of glee showing the giant Pam/Vallery eating the all-male band. With lots of shots of each terrified man begging for his life before showing Pam/Val eat him entirely on screen with no cutting away or Gory Discretion Shot for any of them. And by the end, not only is every single man dead, but the Giant Woman gets off scott free, suffering no repercussions for what she did. It's hard to imagine an all-female band getting eaten one by one would ever end with all of them killed off, or be portrayed in such a cavalier way.
Uhhhh…what? Am I getting agenda vibes here? For describing a silly fetish-y music video involving a giantess.
resolved Should we add a page for the Neverending Story cartoon? Western Animation
Whilst the Neverending Story is best known for its original novel format and the 80s film adaptation, there was a late 90s/early 2000s animated series called, simply "The Neverending Story" - although one source I've found names it "The Neverending Story: The Animated Adventures of Bastian Balthazar Bux". As the question title asks, should we add a The Never Ending Story page to cover tropes unique to the animaed depiction of Fantastia?
openExactly HOW can you make a a personal sandbox?
I am new here and very overwhelmed by the sheer size of this site. I am not sure how I'm suppose to make a personal sandbox page and if can I add it to the Pending Page of the Tropes Pantheon. Can someone explain the process to me or at least add a link to the instructions. I would greatly appreciate it.
open Fan Nickname
Can it be used to list nicknames given by haters, as it has been seen being used like that throughout the site, and a couple of people have said that it can be used that way?
open Fanfic
Can I share something and you tell me what do you think?
openArt Shifted Sequel or Art Evolution Western Animation
Hello, I have a question regarding trope entries on the character pages that present how certain characters have altered designs in a new season/series that make them look different from their appearances in a previous work or season. When creating an entry about how a character looks different in a new season or series, should we use the trope Art-Shifted Sequel or Art Evolution? The reason why I am asking is due to the fact that the Art Evolution page has several entries that present how the characters and/or the animation of a series changes overtime and discuss how they look different. There is also the fact that the Art-Shifted Sequel focuses on the differences between the art styles of a series and their sequel/new season. Regardless, it appears that certain character pages like some of the ones associated with Star Wars (some examples being these particular character pages) use Art-Shifted Sequel instead of Art Evolution to describe how certain characters look different in The Clone Wars and Rebels, while other character pages (such as the ones associated with Batman: The Animated Series) use Art Evolution. As a result, I feel confused about the trope that I should include to describe how a character changes in their appearance. I also personally do not believe that Rebels' art style is an evolution of The Clone Wars' art style, which only adds to my confusion. What trope should I use?
Edited by Thetropemaster101openUnexpected Character misuse?
- Unexpected Character
- Ash's capture of Dracovish took many by surprise, not just because Ash never caught a Fossil Pokémon before or already had a Dragon Type on his team, but also because said Pokémon is just a really unconventional choice for Ash, in general.
I intend to delete as once promotional materials revealed Dracovish was going to appear practically every fan was guessing Ash would catch it, so not unexpected. (How long a character is unexpected to count might be up for debate.) Any objections?
I don't mind some discussion or even back and forth editing on YMMV pages, but I noticed the User Sammettik, has a history of policing opinions that are favorable to the Nightmares and unflattering to the Windfish, even though many espouse these opinions, and thus, they clearly have a place on the YMMV page. It's not just on the YMMV page either, but on the characters page for that game as well.
I found this after he seemed to imply that me espousing a similar opinion to a user who once got banned meant I must be that user. So, curiously, I looked for what he was talking about using the history function. I checked the history of the character page too after I noticed he also edited it.
This kind of adversarial editing doesn't come across as constructive. Further, this could just be me, but his edit comments strike me less as informative, and more as enforcing his thoughts. I'm not sure about his editing habits in general, he may be a great editor other than on this game, but to me, it seems he wants the game's pages to reflect only his opinions, even on the YMMV page, which by its nature, shouldn't reflect only one opinion.
