Character Page Cleanup

Edit: Since this is a new page, I think I'll combine my previous reports with this one.

Characters.Big Brother has a fancruft problem. At least six sub-pages, if not most or all of them, are infested with redundant chains of synonym descriptors.

• Characters.Big Brother 19 The Jury 01 To 03, Characters.Big Brother 19 The Jury 04 To 06 and Characters.Big Brother 19 The Jury 07 To 09 (split from Characters.Big Brother 19 The Jury): plagued with Wall of Text entries parroting each other despite my Hedge Trimmer efforts
• Characters.Big Brother 11 (reported to the zero context example thread): too many gushy or bashy sounding entries along the lines of "So-and-so is (insert long list of synonym adjectives)" that tells us nothing about what so-and-so said or did to qualify for the trope.
• Characters.Big Brother 16 The Jury: dialogue-based tropes (e.g. Deadpan Snarker) with entries along the lines of "So-and-so is clever and witty" without a hint of what so-and-so said; two tropes on the same bullet point; pothole-altered trope names (e.g. [[ActionGirl Action Guy]]); more rambling fancruft like what's on Big Brother 19; and perhaps some other overlooked problems.
• I removed Bold Inflation and the Your Cheating Heart links from Characters.Big Brother 17 The Jury, but there's still some Word Cruft and two tropes on one bullet point that I missed.

Let's be honest: if they're sinkholing Action Girl as Action Guy, that is one of the most obvious cases of shoehorning. I'm pulling that pronto.

• I removed the Your Cheating Heart link from Characters.Big Brother 17 Winner Runner Up. I commented out a few zero context examples, I suspect I missed others. I took a Hedge Trimmer whack at the page, but it still rambles and there are still bunches of synonym adjectives strung together here and there.
• I removed the Your Cheating Heart link from Characters.Big Brother 20 Evicted, axed Bold Inflation and misuse of Expy, and took a Hedge Trimmer whack at word cruft but didn't get all of it.

So Characters.World War Blue leads to an index of categories, but the only bluelink is Characters.World War Blue Segua Kingdom; wouldn't it make more sense to just have that as the character page, since the others don't exist?

I would say so, yes. It was created in May, so it doesn't seem like the subpages are going to appear any time soon.

Somebody beat me to removing Your Cheating Heart from Characters.Big Brother 21, so I cleaned up a messy chunk: Five-Man Band shoehorned onto an eight- or nine-person group, with zero context tropes (e.g. The Leader: So-and-so) on two-asterisk bullet points underneath. There are other similar messy chunks.

Galilei Donna has a ton of ZCE's plus no formatting for images.

And found one that may need to be cut: Persona Ultraviolet. Not only are there blank character profiles, the ones with tropes have ZCE's.

And the work is unavailable at that, so we can't add verifiable tropes. That's always the trouble with fanfic page ZCEs...

Kick it to Darth if we can't find an archive. Or just cut.

• Every other picture on Characters.Big Brother 4 is missing a quoteright thingy. There's Bold Inflation and a sinkhole to Brown Note inside Scott Weintraub's folder. I might have missed other problems once my eyes glazed over from the problems I did see.
• Characters.Big Brother 9 has a few empty folders and about 90% of the examples have zero context. I reported it to the zero context example thread.

At this point it probably makes more sense to move the Big Brother stuff to Short-Term Projects.

Fair enough. I just finished reporting the Big Brother pages that were previously on the list of character pages with "Your Cheating Heart" links and I didn't intend to snoop around any further, as I feel I have now gotten a decent semi-random sample of the kinds of problems we can expect to find on the rest of the Big Brother pages.

In other news, the list of pages with wicks to "Your Cheating Heart" has had a good-sized chunk taken out of it. Yay, we're making progress!

Characters.Alarm Fuer Cobra 11: 1 character only, and tons of ZCE...

If it's just one character with loads of ZCE, just take whatever examples have context and transfer them to the main page.

I skimmed through and there's a decent amount of okay examples to move over; just leave everything else for the cutlist.

Characters.Sesame Street needs to be fixed. I think there should be a separate page for all the main characters instead of just dividing them up by their species.

The main character page should have Elmo, Abby, Cookie, Big Bird, Zoe, Rosita, Telly, Grover, Count von Count, Bert, Ernie, Baby Bear, Snuffy, and Oscar as they are the staple characters of the series.

Some of the character folders don't even have examples. I don't think we need to list every single character who ever appeared on the show ever, especially if they're extremely minor.

Character sheets without examples aren't allowed, so unless you happen to know a trope relating to that character off the top of your head, you might as well just remove them. Or comment them. I'm not sure what the policy is on that.

Tadokoro-san needs a look. I already messaged the creator (it was created last week). There are some ZCE's, some subbulleted tropes, tropes joined with a slash...

...and I forgot to tell them about the sinkholed trope.

Also, Adorkable is listed there despite being YMMV now; told them about that one.

I am thinking of Splitting Gotham - GCPD, and giving Jim Gordon his own page. There are about 90 tropes in his folder (excluding zero context, which I can expand).

Also I feel like Wayne Manor/Wayne Enterprises should have their own page, if not Bruce himself.

Characters.Actual Beatrice came up in the locked pages thread; it looks like just a list of characters with no tropes or descriptions.

On closer inspection, it appears to be a subpage for the troper ~Actual Beatrice, which is not allowed; I'll wait a bit to cutlist it so she can move it to somewhere more appropriate, but it's not going to stay.

The subpages of Katekyō Hitman Reborn! need a lot of work. Short character sections full of ZCEs, spoiler tags above the examples line, and potholed or slashed trope names run rampant. Until I fixed it just now, a lot of the images weren't even quoteright'ed. Also, on a lot of pages, the navigation at the top is outdated and doesn't link to all other pages, though I tried to fix this on the pages I edited.

Characters.Battle Girl High School has numerous ZCEs, and I don’t think all of those stats for each character are needed.

Characters.Seasons Of Love is even worse.

Characters.Subspace Radio is just a mess.

Characters.Wind On Fire is a page of ZCEs. Anything we can salvage and move?

Not sure about the other pages, but Characters.South Park Other Students has a lot of shoehorned examples (such as characters being listed as Butt-Monkey because they had some bad luck in a single episode) and possibly some speculation based on fanon (such as Has a Type for Craig, suggesting he likes twitchy blondes due to being friends with Thomas and dating Tweek, but he wasn't explicitly attracted to Thomas, that's just a semi-popular shippy headcanon).
