  • Complete Monster:
    • Season 1:
      • Kang the Conqueror is an egotistical Conqueror from the Future and the true mastermind of the Emerald Rain Project. In the 30th century, Kang has devastated Earth in his bid to take it over, but was beaten by the Inhumans before he could take his conquest across the whole universe. Kang plots to reverse-engineer the Terrigen Crystals and use them to turn humanity into a race of Super Soldiers under his control. Kang travels to the 21th century and recruits the Masters of Evil to gather the ingredients necessary for his plan. Finally revealing himself after the Emerald Rain Project is complete, Kang plans to unleash emerald rain across the world, killing most of humanity and reducing the survivors into his brainwashed soldiers. Facing the Avengers, Kang sends them to the 10th century, before bringing them to his future to kill them personally. After his defeat, Kang activates the Self-Destruct Mechanism on his ship to crash it into New York, gloating that it will be nothing compared to the destruction caused by the explosion of his throne.
      • The Leader is the head of the Masters of Evil and Kang's right-hand man. Recruited by the time traveling conqueror, the Leader partners up with HYDRA to gather the necessary material for the Emerald Rain Project. Learning that the Red Skull went behind his back and created children who would become the Future Avengers, the Leader tries to have him killed before recruiting one of those children, Bruno, to his side. The Leader leads the Masters of Evil to steal the vibranium necessary for the creation of the Terrigen Crystals. Battling the Avengers along the way, the Leader has the Enchantress unleash a dragon on the city of K'un-L'un, and at one point turns the Iron Man suit into a bomb with Tony still in it. When the Winter Soldier starts regaining his memories, the Leader gives him to HYDRA to painfully brainwash him and use him as a weapon of mass death. The Leader tries to painfully drain the powers of young Makoto before partnering with Loki to steal Thor's lightning as the last part of the Emerald Rain Project. After Kang's defeat, the Leader tries to kill Makoto and Bruno one last time.
    • Season 2: Maximus is the wicked younger brother of Black Bolt and desires the throne of Atlan from his brother. Maximus is behind unleashing the mutagenic Terrigen Mist on Earth and all the chaos and destruction that the resultant newly created supervilains cause. Maximus does this in order to incite a war between Inhumans and humans by heightening tensions between both sides and to this end also sabotages a peace deal between the Inhuman royal family and Avengers which leaves his brother's fiancée Medusa in a coma. Taking control of the Inhuman armada, Maximus plans to murder his brother before using the armada to wipe out Earth through Orbital Bombardment. Maximus also tries to force Makoto and Bruno into killing each other by playing on their emotions. Beaten, Maximus plans to unleash Terrigan Mist at the Avengers peace conference and kill the heroes for stopping him.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Les Yay: Without her usual cast, Kamala bounces off a lot with Chloé.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Loki is Thor's charming and wicked younger brother who plans to rule both Asgard and Earth. Contacted by the Leader to gain Thor's lightning, Loki plays along as a reformed villain and even fakes that the power inducing cuffs he was given actually affect him when they don't. Loki is able to manipulate Thor into giving up the lightning by convincing him he's genuinely changed and later fakes his death to trigger Thor into unleashing it so Loki and Leader can get away with it. Usurping the Leader, Loki hijacks his plan to take over the Emerald Rain Project and use it to control both Earth and Asgard. When Kang defeats Loki, Loki responds by helping sabotage and take down Kang's operation. Genuinely affable, Loki returns one last time in the finale to help his friend Makoto by defeating Maximus and repaying his debt to the Avengers.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Ms. Marvel is underused in the first season after her introductory episode. She doesn't even make an appearance during the final battle against Kang. This gets fixed in Season 2.
  • Unexpected Character: Diamondback appears briefly in the series; this being her second animated appearance after Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers.
    • Though a straighter example would be Kei Kawade aka Kid Kaiju.
  • The Woobie: Bruno. From the beginning he knows HYDRA are the bad guys but let's them control him out of fear that they won't maintain his artificial limbs. Things aren't any easier for him after he comes Back from the Dead. He quickly finds himself surrounded by people who are only interested in using him as a weapon.
    • From the second season, Kei aka Kid Kaiju. A nice kid who loves drawing Kaiju. In his introductory episode, everyone save Makoto assumes he and his Kaiju friends are villains.
