The Anime is of course an obvious place for expansion. Even if they don't go with Anime versions of Gym Leaders and Champions, Ash is almost guaranteed. But Anime-only characters like Jessie and James, Casey, and the various friends and antagonists from the Movies would all bring more variety and interesting combinations to the game.
- Confirmed! Jessie is the first anime character to appear, and James and Meowth have as well.
- Ash himself is also going to make an appearance. He was made a playable character in the game's third anniversary.
Orre or bust. This is the closest chance of reappearing it ever had in almost 15 years.
- That may be out of Nintendo’s control, considering Genius Sonority owns the trademark of Orre.
  - Genius Sonority still develops games for the franchise, like Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Café Mix, and Nintendo and TPC are both shareholders for the company. So it might be unlikely that characters from Orre will show up in Masters, but it wouldn't be impossible for any rights issues to be worked out.
Potentially the Adventures Manga and it’s version of the protagonists. The best guess is putting in Yellow or Emerald because they have no counterpart from the games.
A crossover with Pokémon GO, with Professor Willow, Blanche, Spark, and Candela as available sync pairs.
- The Legendary Birds aren't in the games yet. The three Go Team Leaders could use them.
  - In addition, the Galarian Forms of the Legendary Birds could be used by the Team Go Rocket Admins.
Tim Goodman and Detective Pikachu, either from the game or the movie.
Pipe dream here: Digimon crossover event. Imagine all the awesome sync pairs, possibly even cross-franchise ones.

Team Masters Rocket invades Pasio.
- Potentially confirmed: According to new trailers, Team Masters Rocket will play a big part in an new story arc.

- Tricia, Trista and Trinnia get replaced by Team Masters Rocket Grunts.
- All regular trainers in Pasio turn out to be Team Masters Rocket grunts.
- Team Rainbow Rocket is renamed Team Masters Rocket, and the whole Pasio region is owned by Giovanni, not Lear.

Team Break theories

Since Lear is very opposed to Team Break as himself, I suspect there must be some theories behind Team Break and why there are no wild Pokémon in Pasio.

Team Break is just a Red Herring, and a facade of Team Masters Rocket led by Giovanni. As Team Masters Rocket has enough resources to build a new artificial island, they built Pasio in order to lure famous trainers into, and even created the Sync Pair systems. Every trainer that appears from the main series games is an Unwitting Pawn of Team Masters Rocket, as they used Sync Pairs which could be misused by TMR in later events. The regular trainers on other hand are actual Team Masters Rocket grunts themselves, given how they cheat the battles by having backup trainers. In addition, the Pokémon Masters League is a trap used by Team Masters Rocket, which, in the future, could turn out to be Team Masters Rocket's Hideout.
Jossed. Team Break turns out to be made up of Trainers who were snubbed by Lear out of positions in the PML, thus forming Team Break as revenge.

To allow characters from Galar to Dynamax/Gigantamax their Pokémon, Eternatus will appear as either a legendary event or legendary arena boss.

For the sake of balance, they would last only 3 moves; this would be explained in-universe as a result of Eternatus appearing in Pasio only recently.

Potentially Jossed, since Zacian's Behemoth Blade deals extra damage if you have a Sync Buff, which could hint that Gigantamax Forms will only be seen during the usage of Sync Moves.
- Now zigzagged. Eternatus does appear in a Legendary event that states that Eternatus arrived in Pasio recently; however, Dynamaxing is limited to one turn for a single Max Move, not three.

How the Alola Villain Arc will start

Lusamine from Sun and Moon games get dropped into Pasio, in contrast to Lusamine in the game who is from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Lusamine gets hijacked by Nihilego again.
Lusamine and Guzma are actually Anti-Villains for their arcs, either being Forced into Evil or trying to trick the other villains.
Guzma and Lusamine aren't actually the main focus of the arc from villain side, and instead focus on a different villain from Sun and Moon games like Faba or possibly Ultra Recon Squad (or just Ultra Beasts in general).
- Zig-zagged. It starts with a number of Ultra Wormholes openng up and depositing Ultra Beasts onto Pasio. Faba is implied to be evil, but he is revealed to be loyal to the Aether Foundation. The villains are rogue Aether Foundation employees whom have aligned themselves with Team Rocket.

Hisuian characters/Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Arceus will appear in Pasio via distortions in space-time.

This would justify the appearance of characters that only existed in the distant past, while also referencing the space-time distortions featured in Legends: Arceus.

Maybe Volo will be the one opening them up?
Confirmed. Irida and Adaman arrived in Pasio through a space-time rift. No mention of Volo to be found though.

Volo will be the lead for the next Villain Arc

He'll appear in Pasio in his merchant uniform, claiming to want to research Pokemon mythology. Once he gets the intel he wants, however, he'll start showing his true colors...

Possible lead for a Paldean Villain Arc

Penny could be the lead if Team Star is the main focus of the arc.
Professor Sada/Professor Turo as they served as the closest to the Big Bad of the series.

Sync pairs that can use Terastalization will debut along with the introduction of a sync pair that uses Terapagos.

In a similar manner to Dynamax sync pairs being introduced with the debut of Sygna Suit Leon & Eternatus.

If Volo appears, Giratina will act as an Evil-Detecting Pokemon whenever he interacts with Cynthia

Naturally, Cynthia (Giratina's trainer in this game) would be the one Volo would be most keen on talking to if he arrives in Pasio. Giratina, however, would likely recognize Volo as its old business partner and act hostile towards him, making Cynthia appropriately suspicious.

The next main story will focus on each of the region's Professors.

Every region has at least one of them, and most of them aren't playable in the games yet. This would give us the chance to have them enter the games as playable pairs, and it would allow the four currently present professors (Oak, Sycamore, Kukui and Sonia) to get Sygna Suits or bring in their assistants, for example Dexio and Sina for Sycamore's arc.

Arven will become friends with N

So far, the main Paldea rivals have formed Odd Friendships with characters from Unova. Nemona befriended Hilda because of their shared passion for battle, Penny befriended Hugh because of their shared desire to help and protect others. N and Arven will likely bond over a mutual love of Pokemon and issues with their respective estranged parents.

Scarlet/Violet's inclusion will be another Sun/Moon situation where it's intentionally kept vague as to which version was canon.

Despite wearing Naranja colors, it's never specifically stated that Nemona goes to Naranja Academy, and her and Penny's profiles only say that they go to an academy in Paldea without stating which. This will likely extend to Arven and the player characters when they eventually join the roster.

Leaf is illiterate.

When chatting with her at the Trainer Lodge, options that have to do with reading and writing (Reading, Studying history, Beautiful lettering) consistently have the lowest score.
