hololive Alternative is a spin-off project of hololive by Cover Corporation, a multimedia franchise that presents the idols of hololive as residents of fantasy worlds.

The official website is here.

In February 17, 2021, Cover released a teaser trailer, featuring Dawn Blue by Calliope. The first full version of the PV was then released on May 21, 2021. The second PV was released on June 11, 2022, featuing "Story Time" by Suisei, AZKi, Moona, and IRyS.

General information about the project was revealed on June 11, 2022. More information was showcased on December 10, 2022.

hololive Alternative features Original Generation characters: You Kururu, a Pathfinder designed by Masaru Sakamoto of SSSS.GRIDMAN fame (along with avatars of both genders), Mithra, designed by Taiki (designer of Fate/Grand Order: Merlin) who monitors the world and provides assistance, and others.

Tropes featured in hololive Alternative PV trailers:

  • Adaptational Badass: Naturally, as idols and streamers, members of hololive don't even hold weapons. In the teaser trailer Shion, Flare, and Noel seriously fight Coco in her large dragon form, while Fubuki and Mio fight Ayame. In the second PV Botan, Lamy and Calliope use a rifle, ice magic and Sinister Scythe respectively. In Holoearth everyone can fight, even Sora.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the teaser trailer Coco's dragon form is orange, by her hair color. In hololive her dragon form is purple.
  • After-Action Patch-Up: In the teaser trailer Choco provides hospital treatment to the injured Shion while Rushia and her summoned skeleton spy behind the curtain.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: The teaser trailer contains direct questions to the viewer that are stylized as transmissions from Mithra.
  • Camera Fiend: In the second PV Kiara takes photos of Calliope eating up close, her food and then takes a group selfie.
  • Detectives Follow Footprints: In the second PV Amelia is looking for a cat by checking its footprints with magnifying glass. Later she and Risu chase after the cat after it steals the latter's hat.
  • Dojikko: In the teaser trailer Aqua as a maid carries a tall stack of plates and comically trips.
  • Diving Kick: In the teaser trailer Shion drops at Coco from the mountain with a purple lightning kick.
  • Fictional Social Network: In both trailers Mithra provides messages to users through a Twitter-like app called Holoscope. The second PV shows Holoearth TV, a YouTube clone.
  • Friendly Sniper: In the second PV Botan shoots the snake chasing Nene with a sniper rifle, creating a pink mist, and smiles.
  • Friendly War:
    • In the teaser trailer Ayame gives a Slasher Smile and Fubuki with Mio swordfight with her. In a later scene where the three hang out in Mizore's Kitchen.
    • In the teaser trailer Shion, Flare and Noel fight Coco in her full dragon form. In a later scene Coco is shown to hang out with them plus Kanata in her human form.
    • In the second PV Calliope attacks Kiara with a scythe while both are acting cheerful.
  • Giant Flyer: In the second PV Subaru mounts a giant flying Subarudo.

  • Mysterious Backer: In the teaser trailer a phone shows a message from Original Generation character Mithra who invites someone to the world of hololive Alternative. She appears in Holoearth Lobby as a host.
  • Non-Mammal Mammaries: In the teaser trailer Coco's dragon form has distinctive breast outlines even though dragons are technically reptiles.
  • Not Quite Flight: In the second PV Polka saves Nene from a giant snake by swinging in with a circus trapeze. In the middle of the forest.
  • Reclaimed by Nature: In the teaser trailer Roboco resides in urban ruins that are overtaken by greenery.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: In the second PV Nene, Polka, Botan and Lamy hunt a giant horned snake. Later Nene has to run away from it. It gets beaten up and becomes a mount home.
  • Tail Slap: In the teaser trailer Coco attacks Flare with her large tail but is stopped by Noel Shirogane.
  • Toast of Tardiness: In the teaser trailer Matsuri runs across the city with a toast in her mouth.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: In the second PV Ina'nis reads from a book and to her surprise the screen gets covered by ink-like tentacles.
  • Weredragon: In the teaser trailer Coco is shown in both her dragon and Draconic Humanoid forms.

Holoearth is an upcoming Survival Sandbox game by COVER Corp of hololive. It's a part of the hololive Alternative Metaverse project.

It was showcased on November 23, 2021. On June 11, 2022 an official trailer was published.

Holoearth Lobby is a 3D chatroom that is being developed and publically tested in parallel and is planned to be integrated into the main game.

Tropes featured in Holoearth:

  • Blob Monster: One of the first monsters in Holoearth are slimes that change shape between cubic and spherical.
  • Character Customization: One of the promised features in Holoearth is creating an avatar. Hololive members including A-Chan during the playtests used own 3D models imported, while You Kururu is used as a default avatar.
  • Emote Command: Holoearth features a command menu that activates Emote Animations.
  • Mythology Gag: In the Holoearth trailer Haachama puts a tarantula in a pot already filled with purple miasma.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: Holoearth is shown to feature the day-night cycle in the first playtest.
  • Photo Mode: Holoearth features a free-roaming camera option for taking screenshots.
  • Rock Monster: Of the of the field mini-bosses showed in HoloearthTV #2 is a rock golem.
  • Survival Sandbox: In Holoearth the players need to build houses in a Green Hill Zone while watching out for their hunger and thirst bars.
