The Loud House: Flowing Star is a The Loud House fanfic set in an Alternate Timeline by Mr Dough (also called DoughB101) focused on Stella and Lincoln.

This story is focused on Stella, a Filipino-American girl and aspiring inventor who managed to invent a baseball bat that can be electrified five times, and she is ready to enjoy the summer vacation, but the small town of Royal Woods has both wonders and dangers. She manages to make some allies in the form of a rocking teen called Luna and the popular girly girl focused on plants called Girl Jordan.

A white-haired boy called Lincoln returns to Royal Woods after coming out of juvie, ready to finish his business in the town before exiting the place for good while hoping to meet his younger sister called Lucy after receiving her letter, but he isn't alone on this journey since he is living with his snarky cousin called Liberty and her sole father called Lucas.

The two kids eventually met each other and become a duo to enjoy many adventures together. However, this don't mean this summer will be peaceful, especially with the fact that there's enemies with a vendetta against both of them.

The story can also be read in Deviantart here, in Archive of Our Own here and Wattpad here.

Flowing Star contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion: Stella's homelife is shown in this fanfic, showing she exits the house through the bedroom's window to explore the town, and her grandma stays with her when her parents are at work.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Downplayed with Stella & Lincoln. The two kids form a friendship here, but they are also partners in this story.
    • Stella and Luna never meet each other in canon, but these two form a small friendship here.
    • Lincoln is estranged from his family in this version after something happened that made him be sent into juvie.
    • Lucy and Luna's relationship was neutral at best in the original show, but the two sisters apparently formed a partnership here.
  • Adaptational Badass: Stella certainly wasn't a fighter in the original show, but this version has an electric bat that can deliver electrified blows.
  • Adaptational Protagonist: Stella was a mere side character from The Loud House who mostly appeared in Lincoln-focused episodes. Here, she is the star of this AU, with her moving the plot and sharing the point-of-view with Lincoln, who is a co-protagonist.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: As a way to celebrate Pride Month, the author comfirms in the end notes from the second part of the prologue that Stella is bisexual and Lucy is aro-ace in this fanfic. The former never shown interest in either boys or girls while the latter has shown interest in boys.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Chandler was a brat in canon, sure, but here he is made into a bully who outright ordered his two lackeys to "finish" Lincoln off.
    • Cristina was merely a girl who had good reasons to take Lincoln out of her life, but wasn't so antagonistic behind that. However, in this AU, she is a resentful girl who is planning to ruin him and his estranged sisters' lives.
  • Adapted Out: Per Word of God, it is confirmed Clyde, Lily and Morag won't be appearing in this fanfic due to him feeling these characters were unnecessary, with him even saying the latter is nearly impossible to take seriously.
  • Alliterative Name: Lincoln, Liberty and Lucas has the initial of their name and surnames starting with L.
  • All There in the Manual: The final notes of each chapter has additional information about the setting, lore and the characters from the story.
  • Alternate Timeline: The fanfic is set into a new timeline taking place after a pseudo version of Season 1 from the original The Loud House, where Lincoln did something that landed him on juvie, and Stella still came to Royal Woods but they still became friends after she saved him from Chandler and his goons, but the boy has a dark past and there's people with a vendetta against him.
  • Alternate Universe Fic: The author makes clear the story doesn't follow the show's canon and follows its own lore and continuity.
  • Arc Words: "Royal Woods is not for amateurs". This phrase is meant to show that the town is more dangerous in this fanfic. This phrase is only used in the prologue, though.
  • Ascended Extra: Stella is the protagonist in this story rather than being a secondary character.
  • Batter Up!: Stella created a baseball bat with lightning to be used as her weapon.
  • Berserk Button: Girl Jordan felt personally offended when Stella implied she was only interested in dodgeball when she was planting trees, but she calms down and apologizes for her outburst.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: As of the second chapter, the main antagonists are Chandler, Mike and Cristina, the the former two allying to deal with Stella while Cristina has a vendetta towards Lincoln due to the video incident.
  • Broad Strokes: The author comfirms that events similar to the ones from Season 1 of The Loud House happened in this continuity but due to changes like the removal of Clyde and Lily, the events didn't happen with the same details as in-canon.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Before Lincoln can be beaten up by Chandler's lackeys, Stella saves him by knocking Chandler unconscious and dragging Lincoln out of the area.
  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: Liberty watches a show about a boy and his sisters during the second part of the prologue, but she claimed that a "charming show equals to being boring" and saying there'a no interesting shows anymore.
  • Darker and Edgier: The fanfic is darker than the show due to the antagonists being more dangerous here, and there are subjects such as damaged relationships and psychological issues.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Liberty likes to give sarcastic remarks to other people, but even she recognizes when she goes to far.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Cristina's operation against Lincoln and the Loud Sisters is called "Quiet Silence".
  • Electricity Knocks You Out: Stella's electric bat can knock out her opponents unconscious by hitting them hard enough. This is shown with Chandler.
  • Elemental Motifs: Stella is associated with Lightning due to her inventive skills and she can become cheerful and very active. Her baseball bat can be electrified to defeat her foes.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While Liberty is a snarky Jerk with a Heart of Gold who always makes jokes at the expense of others, she recognizes that she went too far by insulting Stella and wants to apologize to her.
  • Foil: Stella and Lincoln. Both are kids with conturbed lives, have mysterious pasts, and use hoodies to cover their heads, but while Lincoln acts aloof in public, Stella acts cheerful.
  • Friendless Background: Stella remarkes she wanted to make a friend, implying she wasn't popular in her country. Fortunately, she forms a small friendship with Luna and a partnership with Lincoln.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Stella has a secret hideout to work on her inventions in this fanfic, the first thing she created was her signature weapon that can be elctrified.
  • In the Hood: Occasionaly, Stella will put the hood of her hoodie over her head to hide her face and to feel more safe.
  • Noodle Incident: Something that Lincoln did was bad enough for him to be sent into juvie before the events from the story, with him returning in the summer vacation and being estranged from his family. Word of God says that his selfishness went too far.
  • Original Character: The fanfic contains some characters for this story, with the first ones being Liberty Leal, the cousin of the Loud Siblings, and her father Lucas Leal.
  • Pipe Pain: By the end of the first chapter, Lincoln has a L-shaped pipe as a gift from Lucy due to her thinking this type of weapon fits him.
  • Playing Card Motifs: Lincoln has spade symbols on the front and back of his pocketless orange hoodie.
  • Screen Name:
    • Stella goes by "ShiningStar1" in the messenger.
    • Lincoln goes by "Dark_Spade11" in the messenger.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Lucy mentions in her letter for Lincoln she gained an interest into a worn dagger, planning to improve it. The name she plans to give for the ultimate knife is "Real Knife".
    • During the second part of the prologue, Lincoln is playing a round from the game called Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
  • Shock and Awe: Stella's weapon can be electrified to deliver powerful attacks to knock opponents unconscious.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Downplayed. Due to the fact Stella explores the city at midnight, she can occasionaly fall asleep during the day as shown when she sleeps on a bench, only to be woken up by Girl Jordan.
  • Sneaking Out at Night: Stella frequently sneaks out to her secret hideout at midnight to work on her projects.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Stella's grandmother remarks that she should have simply asked her to open the door instead of exiting through the window.
  • Take That!: During the first chapter of "Early Days Arc", Liberty is reading a comic about the show she watched and snarks about the fact that the entire thing started because of a clearly fake photo between a teenage girl and a boy kissing. However, she is disgusted because she saw... something in it and gave up on it. This is a subtle jab towards the comic It's (Not) Your Fault due to the characters acting dumb and the infamous page 130 where a drunken Sam lured and raped Lincoln.
