
Rodney Stephen Steiger (April 14, 1925 – July 9, 2002) was an American actor, known for his Method Acting technique and for playing a variety of offbeat roles.
Among his best-known films are On the Waterfront (1954), Doctor Zhivago (1965), In the Heat of the Night (1967), which earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor, and The Amityville Horror (1979).
He was married five times and had two children.
