Tropes that apply to Demons in General
  • Always Chaotic Evil: They are seen as this in-universe by Humans but it's subverted with a vengeance.
  • Our Demons Are Different: In this series, Demons are used as an umbrella term for any being that's non-human or Dragon or Elf.

Morewant

    In General
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Each of them at some point in their lives has awakened the Heart of Darkness, and all of them were benevolent rulers to the Demons.
  • Heroic Willpower: As Old Morewant explains; to awaken the Heart of Darkness, is to stare into the abyss with a strong will. Meaning that this applies to all of the Morewants who later become The Leader of the Demons.
  • Legacy Character: Whoever becomes the leader of the Demons will gain the name, Morewant, as seen with 3 unnamed Demons on the murals, Old Morewant, and Fair Brave.
  • Satan Is Good: While it might be ambiguous how benevolent the previous Morewants were compared to Old Morewant and Fair Brave, they definitely seem to be better than what the Braves have shown to be.

    Old Morewant
The previous Demon King before Fair Brave. He was a simple farmer who recently awakened his Heart of Darkness after the death of his predecessor, leading him to become the leader of the Demons.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He may be a simple farmer compared to his predecessors and is clearly a Non-Action Guy, Old Morewant is still someone who you shouldn't take lightly, as the requirement to awake the Heart of Darkness is to be willing to stare into the darkness with a strong will.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's the leader of the Demons, but is a kind and humble farmer.
  • The Everyman: Unlike his predecessors, whose murals depict them as warriors or magic-users, Old Morewant was a simple farmer compared to them.
  • Evil Redhead: Inverted. He has red hair but is quite a Nice Guy.
  • Green and Mean: Inverted. He has green skin but is a humble, Nice Guy who helps treat Fair Brave's injuries.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He sacrifices his own life to save Fair Brave from getting killed by Black Brave's attack, which in turn, helps Fair Brave unlock his own Heart of Darkness.
  • No Name Given: He goes by Morewant, as per naming tradition upon awakening the Heart of Darkness.

    Fair Brave
Voiced by: Fu Pin-Gheng
Fair Brave was a personal bodyguard to the good King of the Brave Kingdom. He believed that Morewant, king of Demons, is the sole source of the war between humans and demons, due to which his king's dream of world peace will never be realized, and set off to assassinate him. Only to find out that Morewant is actually a decent person and that by leaving his king's side he left him vulnerable to an assassination. He realized the Demons are merely victims and Braves are true villains, so decided to join the Demons against the new king, King of War. Upon Morewant's death, he became his successor and with time undergo a transformation that turned his skin green. However, despite defeating King of War, he was outmaneuvered by the next King, who presented evidence he owns the land that Morewant's tower stands on. Years later, he struggles to support his subjects and pay the rent on time, but he has not given up his dreams of achieving world peace.
  • Acrofatic: He gains quite a beer belly after the timeskip, but is still as agile as before.
  • The Atoner: He is determined to make up for his time as a Brave and lead Demons to a peaceful future.
  • Beard of Sorrow: He grows one during his reign as Morewant. After the timeskip, it grew big enough to make up half his face.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a kind ruler of the Demons, but is still a powerful warrior.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He is silly in many ways not befit a typical Demon King, but he was a powerful Brave and his Heart of Darkness gives him a huge boost.
  • Big Good: Probably the strongest character in the series and also one of the nicest.
  • Color Motif: Fair Brave is heavily associated with the color green. He has green hair and eyes, and after awakening the Heart of Darkness, his magic color is green. After becoming the next Morewant, his skin becomes green as he slowly transformed into a Demon.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: After awakening the Heart of Darkness and becoming Morewant, Fair Brave starts dishing these out like candy.
    • He went up against the King of War sometime in between the 20-year timeskip, and easily won the Duel between them.
    • For many years, he easily handled the newbie Braves without much sweat as per the agreement of accepting any challenges that the Braves were to sign up for.
    • His Season 1 Finale fight against Loyalty Brave is this, despite the latter giving him some trouble.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He can look genuinely intimidating, but is one of the nicest people in the story.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: After unlocking his Heart of Darkness he was able to beat Black Brave, who was believed to be invincible.
  • The Faceless: He's never seen without a mask after becoming Morewant, and it's probably best we don't see what he now looks like in the current time after 2 decades of sleep deprivation and office work stress.
  • Fake a Fight: His financial situation is so bad that he is forced to dress up as a Brave and make demons fake losing to him so that he can collect bounties for them, which he uses to pay their salaries.
  • Fatal Flaw: Fairness. He cannot abide by participating in unfair scenarios and not playing by the rules. This was exploited by the current King of the Brave Kingdom, who presented documents that forced Morewant to pay him rent.
  • The Good King: He deeply cares for his subjects and they, in turn, admire him and care for his well-being.
  • Green and Mean: Inverted. His main color scheme is green and is a powerful demon king but is actually Big Good.
  • Handicapped Badass: After the timeskip, Fair Brave is riddled with PTSD-induced sleep deprivation, overworked stress, and having a slight hunch and beer belly. This doesn't stop him from dishing out non-lethal Curb-Stomp Battles to numerous newbie Braves over the years and going toe-to-toe against the more hardened Loyalty Brave (and winning) in the Season 1 finale.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Nowadays he really looks like a shadow of himself at his prime and he went from leading an army to defeat the Brave Kingdom to struggling to keep his subjects paid.
  • The Insomniac: After becoming Morewant, Fair Brave hardly, if ever had slept since timeskip. As a combination of his guilt and stress with dealing with the Current King's taxes.
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: He blames himself for the death of the good king, to the point he believes his insomnia is caused by fear he will dream of the man, as he has sworn to not face him until he achieves world peace.
  • I Was Quite the Looker: The 20-year timeskip had not been kind to Fair Brave, as he tells Loyalty Brave that he looks much worse underneath his mask.
  • Sad Clown: His current personality and antics are rather easy-going and humorous if it wasn't for the fact that he's masking his grief from letting the Old King die and bearing the burden of being the leader of the Demons.
  • Shonen Hair: As Fair Brave, he has spiky green hair.
  • Won the War, Lost the Peace: He easily took down King Of War, only to get trapped in an unwinnable situation by the current King.
  • World's Best Warrior: As the current Morewant, Fair Brave has proven himself to be quite the powerful warrior who most other characters can't truly defeat unless through different means, as seen with the Current King using an Ancient Law to heavily tax the Demons.

The Four Demon Generals

    Water Demon
Voiced by: Teng Wei-Te
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a fairly kind woman who cares for Morewant and the Demon races' wellbeing, and so far, is noncombative in the first season. She's still a dangerous opponent to have a large bounty on her as seen in episode 2.
  • Making a Splash: She's capable of manipulating water to teleport to other places and creating large tidal waves.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is a beautiful and very curvaceous woman who wears a tight sweater, thong, and thigh-high shoes.
  • Number Two: Is heavily implied to be this to Morewant.
  • Water Is Womanly: She's very beautiful and curvaceous, and is capable of Making a Splash.

    Fire King/Demon

    Desire Queen/Demon
  • Genki Girl: She's very outgoing and has a cheerleading-like attitude.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is heavily implied to be a succubus who is dressed up in a revealing cheerleader outfit and can be sometimes flirty.
  • Odd Friendship: With the stoic and professional Chief Brave.
  • Pink Is Erotic: Her Color Motif is pink and is a Ms. Fanservice who heavily implied to be a succubus.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Unlike the other Demon Generals, she doesn't do anything regarding the ongoing economical crisis of the Demon Race and just stays in her cave and watches events from afar.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Given her Mr. Exposition status regarding the origins of Dragons and Braves, she's far older in the triple digits than what her youthful, teenage appearance would suggest.

    Sick Demon
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite having an adorable design, he tends to have violent and compulsive behavior making him a complete sociopath.
  • Not Quite Dead: Near the end of episode six, Chief Brave gives Water Demon a small container of microbes with his cells (along with the comics that Morewant requested) hinting that he could return in the second season.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: He can transform his hands into scythes.
  • The Napoleon: He is a character who, despite his short stature, proves to be quite psychotic and aggressive.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: he is very compulsive and crazy

    Slime

    Old King's Assassin
An unnamed Demon who secretly assassinates the Old King in his sleep. This led the King of War to take the latter's place and perpetuate the ongoing war.
  • It's Personal: According to Old Morewant, the assassin was a young Demon who killed the Old King due to believing that the latter had personally started the war between Humans and Demons.
  • Killed Offscreen: Given Old Morewant's silence in response to a vengeful Fair Brave demanding his whereabouts, it's implied that he was caught and killed after successfully assassinating the Old King.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Fair Brave, if he were to still cling on to his Wide-Eyed Idealist beliefs regarding the war between Humans and Demons.
