Characters from Back to the Beginning. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume tropes related to their canon counterparts already apply.

The Ninth Wielders

    In General
All Might's successors from two different timelines, sent back in time over two years before the events of canon with the help of the Second User's Quirk, Lucky 13.
  • Battle Couple: Izuku and Ochako behaved like this way before becoming an official one in chapter 47.
  • Mind Link Mates: After One for All fuses with other, Izuku and Ochako establish a mental link that allows them both communicate.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Both of them are killed in their respective timelines during the Battle of Jaku. Ochako is stabbed by Toga and Izuku is dusted by Shigaraki.

One of the protagonists of Back to the Beginning. Sent back in time after Lucky 13 activated to save him when he was killed at Tomura Shigaraki's hands.

With his Quirk fusing with Ochako's, Izuku shares his status as the Ninth Torchbearer of One For All.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Gets a good amount of PTSD from seeing his classmates get dusted at Shigaraki's hands before he was sent back in time.
  • Adaptational Badass: Thanks to obtaining the Full Gauntlets early and finishing his strength training for One For All long before the Entrance Exam, Izuku can use a good 60% of One For All by the Battle Trial.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Even if Izuku and Ochako have to split the Quirks in One For All between them, it still gives them a broad bag of tricks.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Being sent back to the past, Izuku knows how to control One For All much better than he did in the original timeline.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Nonlethal example. To stop Himiko from going on her canon villainous rampage, he grabbed her and told Midnight to hit them both with her gas.

Izuku Midoriya — Analyst

Quirk: Quirkless

Ochako's former classmate and love interest.
  • Badass Normal: He may not have received One for All on this timeline, but he was a hero student that relied on support items and his brain to fight.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: He was speaking with Ochako when Toga killed him.

The Ninth Torchbearer of One For All from a different timeline. Sent back to the past by Lucky 13 after being killed by Himiko Toga.

With her Quirk fusing with Izuku's, Ochako shares her status as the Ninth Torchbearer of One For All.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Besides the added angst under below, Ochako's last sight in her old timeline was her Izuku, the Quirkless Analyst, having been sliced and diced by Himiko Toga.
  • Adaptational Badass: Besides the added Quirks in One For All, inheriting All Might's Quirk allowed Ochako's own Quirk to evolve, allowing her to remove or increase gravity on the objects she touches.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Her hero name was "Graviton" instead of "Uravity".
  • Point of Divergence: Ochako's timeline heavily diverged from Izuku's.
    • She met All Might when a S-Rank villain called Blastwave attacked her city and she rushed into a crumbling building to save a child. All Might, inspired by her heroic spirit, chose her to be his successsor.
    • All for One's successor was a girl named Homura Shigaraki (heavily implied to be Hana Shimura), whose Quirk allowed her to increase the speed of anything she touches.
    • Inasa Yoarashi was a Class 1-A student.
    • Since he never ran into All Might, Izuku decided to follow Eraserhead's example and attempt to transfer to the Hero Course during the Sports Festival. He manages to score eighth place before being defeated by Shoto. Izuku joined class 1-A after Sato dropped out following the training camp attack.
    • Tokoyami was kidnapped by the League during the Training Camp attack instead of Bakugo. While her classmates planned a rescue mission, Ochako opted to believe the Pros and did not join.
    • Things fell apart once All for One arrived. All Might had to split his time between fighting the villain and saving the students. All Might managed to kill All for One at the cost of his own life.
    • The loss of both the Symbol of Peace and the Symbol of Evil in a single night led to a villain uprising worse than the one in canon and caused Ochako to develop serious trust issues.
    • Chizome Akaguro's carrer was an inversion of his main timeline one: He started off as Hero Killer Stain, except, he killed heroes in a metaphorical way, by airing their dirty laundry and exposing their corruption. After All Might's death in Kamino, he became the vigilante Stendhal.
  • Trauma Button: Himiko used to be one, as she killed Ochako and Izuku in the previous timeline. Fortunately, Ochako realized that Himiko in the new timeline is nothing like her old self.

Ochako Uraraka — Uravity

Quirk Zero Gravity

Izuku's former classmate and love interest.

Quirk: Transform

Formerly Himiko Toga, Himiko snapped, as per the original timeline, due to her parents treatment of her. However, she was stopped by Vlad King, Midnight, and Izuku Midoriya before she could become the psychopathic villain she is in so many other timelines.

Now adopted by Inko Midoriya, she attends the Hero Course at UA.

  • Abusive Parents: Himiko's biological parents were far more amused with seeming normal than they were with their daughter's well-being.
  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: Much of Himiko's canon-typical trauma was averted by her villainy being stopped before it could even begin.
  • Adaptational Dye-Job: In-Universe example. She dyes her hair green to match Izuku and Inko after being officially adopted.
  • Blade Enthusiast: While much saner, Himiko still uses blades as her weapons.
  • Happily Adopted: Is far more happy as a Midoriya than she ever was as a Toga. That being said, she does keep in touch with her biological sister Hifumi.
  • Held Back in School: Himiko's first appearance has her learn that she did not do well enough to pass middle school, forcing her to repeat the year.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Bisexual example. She is very girly, loves cute things and is dating Emily Song.

Himiko Toga

Quirk: Transform

A deranged psycopath obssessed with a twisted version of love towards Izuku and Ochako.
  • Hero Killer: She kills Ochako and Analyst during the Battle of Jaku.

    Aika Shizu

Aika Shizu

Quirk: Sonic Reinforcement

A girl Izuku and Ochako met after transferring to Montross. Thanks to their help, she managed to make UA's Hero Course.

    Kyoka Jiro

Kyoka Jiro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyoka_jiro_s4.png

An aloof, sarcastic, tomboyish but unexpectedly prudish student whose Quirk, "Earphone Jack", takes the form of elongated earlobes ending in jack plugs, which she can extend and plug into objects to catch extremely faint sounds or channel the sound of her own heartbeat into them in the form of powerful vibrations. She is a talented musician and is especially fond of rock music.

    Emika Mizuki

Emika in her Support Gear

A Support student who, like Aika, has a song-activated Quirk. Can negate other Quirks in the vicinity by singing, although the effect is imperfect and not subtle, making her unsuited for Underground Heroics.

  • Gadgeteer Genius: Uses support gear of her own design to increase her capabilities in battle, and is slated to do the same for Aika.
  • It's Personal: Subverted. When she clashed with Aika in the second round of the Sports Festival, Emika was initially angry thinking that Aika was copying her song, but after the pugilist clarified that she was singing the other half of a duet, Emika simply asked Aika to give it her all when they would fight in the third round.
  • Power Nullifier: Uses a song-based version of Aizawa's Erasure. However, Emika's Quirk can't nullify all other Quirks, and the reliance on singing advertises her presence.
