Let's Get It Started

After the debut of Noctyx, ANYCOLOR once again opened auditions for English-speaking talent. The sixth wave, ILUNA, was selected from these auditions and debuted in July 2022. The largest Nijisanji EN wave to date, ILUNA is the first wave of the branch to include both men and women livers.

ILUNA

    In general
  • Alliterative Name: The first-year and second-year students have such names. MM (Maria Marionette), KK (Kyo Kaneko), AA (Aia Amare) and AA (Aster Arcadia).
  • Five-Token Band: Kyo is American that got powers from the moon, Aia is a Vietnamese-American angelic maiden from heaven, Aster is a living star in human form who is residing in America, Scarle is part-Mexican and part-Filipino, Maria is a doll-turned-human whose "doll family" came from China, but moved to Australia, and Ren is an alien prince who first landed on Canada, but also moved to Australia.
  • Foil: They have this dynamic with XSOLEIL, the Institute of Infinity. ILUNA is the the light wave with the connection to the moon, they are largely comprised of people of supernatural origins, and they're just a random group of students with no hierarchy between them. XSOLEIL is the dark wave with the connection to the sun, they are all humans who happen to have super powers, and they're student council with established roles and rankings.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: ILUNA is the first mix-gender wave, having three females and three males.

    Maria Marionette

Maria Marionette [JP: マリア マリオネット]

"Mariring~!"

"A doll who was turned human after centuries of loneliness.
Easily influenced by her surroundings, her actions are often strange, but she means well."
— Official profile

Debut date: July 24, 2022
Birthday: December 7
Languages spoken: English, Japanese, (Mandarin) Chinese
Illustrator: Jishaku
Channel: YouTube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: "Dolls don't age"note
Height: 152 cm
Category: Doll
Occupation: 1st Year Student

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Maria's name is pronounced "MA-ri-a", not "Ma-REE-a", although some of her fellow livers, including her genmate Kyo, pronounce it like the latter. Notably, Maria pronounces her name like how a Japanese person would.
  • Alliterative Name: Maria Marionette.
  • Animal Motifs: Rabbits. Her mascot is a stuffed bunny named Sir Ventrilo, while her fandom representation Marippets are small creatures shaped like a stuffed rabbit's head. Also many of her assets have bunny rabbit themes, while she herself often compares herself to a rabbit.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: She has heart-shaped ahoge to go along with the heart patches on her jacket and bowtie.
  • "Aww"-choo: As many of her chat members would agree, Maria has an absolutely adorable sneeze.
  • Become a Real Boy: She is a doll that somehow became a human. Her catchphrase in ILUNA's introduction trailer is "I'm a real girl now!".
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's normally very sweet and soft-spoken, but she has gotten angry at her genmates on a few occasions. One time Aster tries to pin the blame on her, she snaps at him by calling him a "bottom", and she threatens to go after Ren's horns after he called her short.
  • Blatant Lies: She refers to her missed bullets in first-person shooter games as "warning shots", suggesting that she missed on purpose even though she obviously didn't.
  • Chuunibyou: She is literally stated to be such in her debut teaser.
  • Cosplay: Her 'Let's Get It Started'' cover version's music video is completely redrawn unlike Ren's who photoshopped his head onto every other ILUNA member. In Maria's version, she's cosplaying as all of her genmates.
  • The Cutie: The definitive example in EN, with many fans and talents doting on her for how cute she is.
  • Eye Scream: As a doll, Maria's owner dropped her and caused her left eye to break; her eyepatch was created to cover this up. Her eye is apparently fine as a human, but she still wears the patch to contain her eye's power.
  • Eyepatch of Power: She wears her eyepatch to "contain her eye power", but it also makes it almost impossible for her to wink at her audience. She says that the only way to tell that she's winking at them is by looking at her eyebrow...which is mostly covered up by her bangs.
  • Idol Singer: She joined NIJISANJI in hope of becoming an idol. Naturally, she focuses a lot in producing music, releasing covers or original songs almost every month, having released seven songs during her first six months since her debut. She can sing 100 songs in one stream, a stream that is over 9 hours long!
  • Land Down Under: She's Australian like Luca, Sonny, and Ren (and Hada). The NijiAU collabs are on her channel.
    Ya mate!
  • The Napoleon: She doesn't like being called short at all.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She apparently knows quite a bit about ancient medieval torture methods, and even did a stream with Luca Kaneshiro wherein she ranked said torture methods on how painful they would be to experience.
  • Only Six Faces: Subverted. People are quick to notice the similarities between her and Rosemi Lovelock's designs, especially since they share so many facial expressions. However, the two aren't even designed by the same artist. Maria pointed out the differences between the two. Kyo even calls her "Rosemi 2.0" once during his "Are you SMARTER than a VTUBER? Gameshow".
  • Perpetual Smiler: Maria's model has the exact same range of emotions as Rosemi's, including the trademark beaming smile.
  • Petite Pride: She would often shout "Flat is justice!", and she makes a point that she has to be drawn completely flat in all of her ILUNA cosplay art for her Let's Get It Started cover.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Maria is the Pink Girl to her fellow ILUNA first-year Kyo's Blue Boy.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The NijiAU group is largely comprised of EN members, with Maria being the only female one from that branch. Subverted, since Ban Hada from the (formerly) KR branch is also part of NijiAU, making it Two Girls to a Team in practice.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Eight hours into her Getting Over It stream, she is startled by Bennett Foddy's narration and lets out an absolutely terrifying scream:
Maria: We have come so far! Eight and a half hours! This is the final stretch! Let's hope...not to mess up...
Bennett Foddy: Now you've conquered the ice cliff...
    Maria: SHUT UP BENNETT!! UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
  • Third-Person Person: She occasionally refers to herself in the third person.

    Aia Amare

Aia Amare [JP: アイア アマレ]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aia.png
"HELL YEAH BROTHER!"

"An angelic maiden who descended from Heaven to observe mankind.
Her gentle appearance hides a rather mischievous disposition."
— Official profile

Debut date: July 24, 2022
Birthday: May 27
Languages spoken: English (fluent), Vietnamese ("struggle bus")
Illustrator: Noy
Channel: YouTube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: [REDACTED]
Height: 158 cm
Category: Angelic Maiden
Occupation: 2nd Year Student

  • Alliterative Name: Aia Amare.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: The misbehavior that got her thrown out of heaven apparently included arson, theft, vandalism, fistfights... and excessive rap battling.
  • Art Evolution: On October 2nd, 2023, Aia is the tenth EN liver to receive a 3.0 brush-up. For one of the expressions, there's a side effect of her eyebrows going crazy.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Invoked; she takes off her glasses when she's had enough of being teased by chat and claims that she can no longer see them.
  • Brick Joke: Aia once tweeted that she randomly sends her friends a text containing "straighten your back you cashew shaped bitch" to show that she cares about their posture. A couple of days later, she tweets without any further context: "daily reminder to straighten your back, you cashew shaped bitch".
  • Brief Accent Imitation:
    • Her Catchphrase, "Hell yeah brother!", is said with a Southern US accent.
    • Since she is already an experienced Genshin Impact player, her first Genshin stream sees her playing through the early game while voicing the characters with heavy accents, including a Deep South accent for Paimon, a Valley Girl accent for Amber, and a loud vaguely Cockney/Aussie accent for Lisa.
    • She also discusses having to try to emulate Maria's Aussie accent since Maria was too sick to contribute a line to Aia's lore video. As with Lisa, Aia admitted that the result was an accent "that exists nowhere".
  • The Bully: Zigzagged. Aia's lore video portrays her as an absolute terror while residing in Heaven, but she is polite and cordial in her actual streams. She did try to play up this trope during ILUNA's Pico Park collab; even then, she paused the collab so that everyone could say something nice about each other, later stated that she apologized for her more extreme comments off-stream, and admitted that the collab is difficult for her to revisit due to her antics. By the end of her first month, she was better known for being a massive bully-able dork than for being a bully herself. However, after a while of enduring chat's endless barbs, she began firing back with her own playful teasing, calling chat "dorks", "nerds", and "stinky".
  • Character Catchphrase: "Hell yeah brother!" and "What the hell, brother?", both said with a Deep South accent.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Aia immediately formed a close bond with Scarle thanks to their similar interests, not least of which is a fondness for BL.
    • She's also on good terms with Ike due to their shared interest in Vocaloid music.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: She vehemently denies being a dork and frequently tries to prove it to chat... by gushing over Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She heavily dislikes barbecue sauce. This apparently stems from a childhood event where she tried to sneak BBQ packets home only to have them explode in her pockets on the playground, soiling her clothes and covering her with the smell of it.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Aia, on separate occasions, takes an extended look at Kaeya's and Lisa's assets in Genshin Impact before trying to play it off.
  • Eloquent in My Native Tongue: Inverted. She states that Vietnamese was actually her first language, but she was sufficiently "Americanized" to the point where English is her dominant language while her Vietnamese is "merely" conversational.
  • Eye Beams: She apparently has laser vision, which she threatens to unleash on chat members who call her a dork. Miss Amare does not have laser vision, however, preferring to use a yardstick for punishment.
  • Fallen Angel: She was kicked out of Heaven and sent to ILUNA Academy due to a track record of bad behavior.
  • Game Master: In her DnD streams, she always plays the role of the game master, which is necessary because several of her other livers aren't familiar with DnD.
  • Harem Seeker: One of the goals she listed at debut was to "acquire more maidens". Maidens being a gender-neutral term to Aia, of course.
  • Hidden Buxom: Underneath her large chest bow and braid, she's actually got quite the rack. Her second outfit finally gives full display of how big her boobs really are.
  • Hopeless with Tech: She admits that she's not very good with technology, as heaven does not have the same level of technology as Earth.
  • Insistent Terminology: She might admit to being a "goober", but vehemently denies being a "dork".
  • Just Got Out of Jail: She gets out of the prison predicament at the end of her lore video, but still has to deal with her bothersome parole officer Jerry.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: While generally calm and respectful in her solo streams, she leans heavily into this trope in ILUNA's chaotic Pico Park collab, being incredibly loud and foul-mouthed.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Parodied with her "1.0 Outfit Debut". Right after Luxiem made their 2.0 outfit debuts, Aia made a stream showcasing the exact same outfit she has been wearing since her debut. Even her thumbnail says "same outfit".
  • Meaningful Name: Played for laughs in her debut. She states that "Aia" means ruler and "Amare" means love, so she is now "the ruler of your heart"...and immediately cringes.
  • Motherly Side Plait: She calls attention to the "Dead Anime Mom Hair" trope during her debut, since her hair is styled in a similar manner. She states that she doesn't see herself as a "mommy", however, and would prefer to be seen as a "big sister".
  • Motor Mouth: She admits that she is prone to talking extremely quickly.
  • Mystical White Hair: Has long white hair befitting an angelic maiden.
  • Running Gag:
    • Aia's dorkiness, and her reaction to being called out on it, is by far the most recurring joke involving her.
    • She likes fighting in the Denny's parking lot, and frequently threatens to duel people there as that's where her power is at its strongest.
    • The "Dorky Pass", given to chat when they're behaving well on a stream-to-stream basis, that allows them to call her a dork without any repercussions.
    • "Scrunkle", a specific Super-Deformed portrait of Aia from her lore vid, comes up quite a bit.
  • Self-Deprecation:
    • She is well aware that she has the slowest-growing channel in ILUNA and has openly acknowledged some of the criticisms of her content. While not exactly pleased with her numbers, she states that she loves her community all the same and is willing to joke about the silver linings of being a relatively small group.
    • During her ahoge-rating stream, she admits that she is not even close to having one and refers to the crown of her head as an "egg".
  • Split Personality: So far there's Aia who speaks with a higher-pitched voice, her Sexier Alter Ego Ms. Amare who speaks with a deeper voice, and her shy, sentient hand asset Hand-kun who speaks with a raspy voice.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Played for laughs with Hand-kun. During a drawing stream, she pulled her model off of the screen for a brief minute but forgot to remove the asset of her arm holding a pen, leading to jokes about the hand being sentient. This took a life of its own, with Hand-kun being considered their own character who chat declares as their favorite, causing Aia to become flustered and jealous. Eventually, Aia gets fed up and "takes him out" off-screen.
  • The Stinger: Aia has a contingent of fans that stick around during her "stream ending" screen, so she has made a habit of playing peek-a-boo and/or making one final comment during the closing card.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Her "VERY NORMAL" streams are...anything but.
  • Total Party Kill: Her DnD stream with Doppio, Petra, Finana and Aster ends up with her as the game master killing the entire party due to how wacky, chaotic and dysfunctional they have been during the campaign.
  • Walking Techbane: Not to the extent as Scarle below, but Aia's stream also tend to suffer from scuff, which commonly lead to her streams to start late. During her DnD collabs, her OBS has difficulties handling the Live2D models of her collab partners, thus she has to resort to using fugis of them.

    Aster Arcadia

Aster Arcadia [JP: アスター アルカディア]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aster_1.png
"Cyute cyute cyute!~"

"A celestial born from a Supernova long ago.
His memories are faint, but his wish to spread happiness across the universe remains strong."
— Official profile

Debut date: July 24, 2022
Birthday: September 25
Languages spoken: English, Japanese (learning), "Grill?"
Illustrator: Amaichi Esora
Channel: YouTube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: Debuted at 1,000,069, currently 1,000,070note
Height: 170 cm
Category: Celestial One
Occupation: 2nd Year Student

  • The Ace: Like Shu before him, Aster is stated to be excellent at working with tech and is the go-to for other members of ILUNA having computer issues.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Yugo calls him "little star", as do some of his fans.
  • Agent Peacock: He is very flamboyant, likes to flirt with other male livers, likes to crossdress and uses thumbnails of him crossdressing or in feminine poses. He is, however, very competitive in first-person shooter games.
  • Alliterative Name: Aster Arcadia.
  • Animation Bump: His lore video was done by Studio Yuraki, and would definitely look like something out of an actual anime.
  • Art Evolution: Aster is the second EN liver to receive a 3.0 brush-up. He debuted his 3.0 model on March 13, 2023.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Astra Celestia, his female counterpart.
  • Berserk Button: Downplayed. Aster confided in his debut that flicking his Idiot Hair is a surefire way to annoy him.
  • Cosmic Motifs: Being that he's a celestial being, he has a lot of star and nova motifs.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Played for Laughs. Aster really doesn't take it too kindly when Ren is with Uki, let alone when he mentions him.
  • Crossdressing Voices: Like Luca, he can speak Grill.
  • Cuddle Bug: Seems to be heading in this direction; he eagerly offered his chat a hug during his debut, and one of his teaser shorts shows him giving the viewers a kiss.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: His responses to people flicking his ahoge tend to be along the lines of "don't make me put you in a black hole".
  • Does Not Like Spam: Absolutely despises onions, enough that he mosaic-censors them on his debut slides. This puts him a in odds with Sonny a bit who loves green onions.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He and Kyo were initially mistaken as girls by their other genmates.
  • Effeminate Voice: His standard voice isn't too masculine or feminine, but he often likes to use a more feminine voice on multiple occasions. On rare occasions, he can do a pretty deep and masculine voice if he wants to.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: He openly displays feminine personality traits, and his feetcam stream reveals that he has quite slender legs that look more feminine than Finana's.
  • Signature Sound Effect: His crow-like yelp when he's surprised or frustrated.
  • Team Dad: Is stated to be this behind the scenes, as he's the one to give technical support for his genmates, is basically always available on Discord, and keeps reminding Ren about his deadlines.
  • Time Abyss: Given that he's a living star, his age is in the millions, despite claiming to be "young" for his kind, and he expects to live "a few billion years".
  • Verbal Tic: Aster has a few of these. He has a very slight lisp, softens Ls to Ws when he's excited, and pronounces "cute" as "cyute" most of the time. The latter two are also reflected in how he types.
  • Voice of the Legion: Whenever he's jealous, he pulls this out on both his chat and Ren.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's scared of deep water because, in his words, "you don't know what's down there, it could be Finana for all I know".
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: He likes feminine clothes and has crossdressed/cosplayed.
  • Yandere: He likes doing yandere content and his 3.0 model allows him to do typical yandere facial expressions.

    Scarle Yonaguni

Scarle Yonaguni [JP: スカーレ ヨナグニ]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scarle.png
"I'm not drunk!"

"An elegant and mature Enchantress.
Her captivating beauty glows as radiant as her scarlet staff."
— Official profile

Debut date: July 24, 2022
Birthday: February 19
Languages spoken: English, Spanish ("little"), Japanese ("little little")
Illustrator: RIZ3
Channel: YouTube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: "...none ya..."
Height: 165 cm
Category: Enchantress
Occupation: 3rd Year Student

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: She is open about absolutely loving "toxic anime boys".
  • All Women Are Lustful: Very open to discussing sexual matters, enjoys being a Shameless Fanservice Girl, casually mentions her breasts in conversations on occasion, for starters. Certainly it takes Scarle playing this trope straight in order to show her genmates a CUM TRIBUTE of all things somebody made of her.
  • Auto-Tune: Occasionally uses it when singing, particularly if she's doing so out of frustration.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: When she messes something up, she occasionally threatens to harm herself...in The Sims 4.
  • Big-Breast Pride: She considers her big boobs her selling point.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: She frequently cycles between a variety of accents and tones, including a British accent, a baby voice, and a Valley Girl accent.
  • Butt-Monkey: She often suffers from technical difficulties, gets her streams demonetized or gets bullied by The Gadfly Luca Kaneshiro, other senpais or genmates. Even Petra participates in the friendly bullying.
  • Celebrity Resemblance: Not physically, but several people have commented that one of the voices she can do sounds very similar to singer Ariana Grande. She denies it.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • "I'm not drunk!"
    • "Thank you for the supa! Mua!"
    • "Oh, shitpickles!"
    • "Jesus criminey!"
  • Child of Two Worlds: She is part-Mexican and part-Filipina.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: She can get incredibly goofy and silly, to the point where she has to repeatedly insist that she's not drunk.
  • Commonality Connection: Scarle states that she immediately bonded with Aia thanks to their similar interests, not least of which is a fondness for BL.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Scarle's food crimes have to be seen to be believed. She has made stuff such as a candy corn pizza and brownies with vodka in them and more. The candy cane pizza she made for Christmas even ended up being featured on @fuckedupfoodsnote , much to her delight.
  • Department of Major Vexation: She lists "going to the DMV" as one of her dislikes.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Scarle admitted that she was initially going for a "mommy" vibe, but dropped it immediately after debut. Although she's shown that she can still do a mommy voice when asked or if she feels like it.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: Does this to Luca as seen here, except she also baptizes him with five more names she's at it, calling him "Luca Julio Ricardo Montoya de la Rosa Ramírez Kaneshiro".
  • Hidden Depths: Much like Selen, she is chatty and very high-energy in solo streams and small collabs but is very quiet in large groups. This is demonstrated in ILUNA's Pico Park collab where she was extremely reserved and generally only spoke up to apologize for her errors.
    • In addition, she started making her own dating sim using Python, suggesting that she has knowledge in programming.
  • Home Nudist: Downplayed; due to how hot it is where she lives, she very frequently streams while shirtless. She wears pants...most of the time.
  • Irony: Despite being the Ms. Fanservice of the group and being open about discussing sexual matters, she has never (willingly) gone on a date and has stated that she has little interest in entering romantic relationships.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: She tends to especially say "fuck" quite a bit.
  • Lost Orphaned Royalty: Her 2.0 outfit reveal comes with the revelation that her birth parents were the rightful king and queen before they were murdered by the current evil king who then left her on the doorstep of a man who ended up taking her in and raising her as one of his own.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She emphasized her figure before and during her debut; in fact, in her very first tweet she showed off her thighs. She often uses (censored) NSFW fanart as her thumbnails and provides lots of fanservice for her chat.
  • Proud Beauty: She's a Shameless Fanservice Girl who is so proud of her appearance that she'll be offended if you don't ... ahem, find her attractive.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Luca is this to her. Luca has always been The Gadfly, but Scarle in particular is a very easy victim to fall for his shenanigans.
  • Sticky Fingers: Inverted when playing video games; she is extremely averse to taking things from other players. This even includes Apex Legends, where pulling loot from eliminated players is a core mechanic.
  • Strip Poker: Her "strip poker" stream in late April, 2023, has her playing strip Blackjack with her chat. She ends up topless during the game.
  • Team Mom: Plays this role to her chat on occasion, dispensing bits of life advice.
  • Trash of the Titans: Her room, by her own admission, is not very clean. At all.
  • Walking Techbane: Her streams have a much higher-than-average level of scuff; in her first eight days in Nijisanji EN alone, she had her internet lag out during debut, was the last to gain monetization and immediately had two of her video shorts demonetized, broke a toy lie detector, had multiple issues with her VODs, and had her Nintendo Switch take a nasty spill while streaming from it. Scarle and her fans have accepted that it is "part of the experience".
  • Workaholic: Scarle has stated that she absolutely loves streaming and has mentioned that she doesn't really care to take a break, despite others' worries about her burning out. In her first months, she streamed essentially every single day, sometimes multiple times per day and often deep into the night in her timezone, all while also juggling time at the ILUNA Institute.
  • You Keep Using That Word: Scarle’s frequent mentions of “cervixes” borders on this most of the time, if not an egregious misunderstanding of anatomy.
  • You're Cute When You're Angry: Her fans have said this to her multiple times, she would however disagree, and says she's an enchantress who will destroy and burn everything.

    Ren Zotto

Ren Zotto [JP: レン ゾット]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ren_624.png
"I think we should all touch grass more. Looking at you, Selen."

"A deadly alien prince from another world.
He has resolved to conquer Earth, using his unique sound."
— Official profile

Debut date: July 24, 2022
Birthday: March 25
Languages spoken: English, Japanese (learning)
Illustrator: Aco Arisaka
Channel: YouTube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: "idk" note
Height: 180 cm
Category: Alien Prince
Occupation: 3rd Year Student

  • Aliens Steal Cable: Alban suspects that Ren's dated taste in memesnote  is due to trying to pick up internet signals from his spaceship, only to have them arrive ten years late due to his distance from Earth.
  • Aliens Steal Cattle: Played for laughs. Ren has apparently met a few of The Greys in his spacefaring days, and claims to have never really understood their obsession with cows.
  • Artistic License – Biology: A fairly minor example. Ren attributes his liking for cold weather to the fact that he's cold-blooded, even though cold-blooded animals actually prefer heat.
  • Butt-Monkey: His tendency to piss his genmates off makes him their designated punching bag.
  • The Casanova: In Luca's NIJIEN Dating Show, Ren has managed to "rizz" two (Uki, Mysta) of out of three bachelors in three episodes, with the third one (Shu) friend-zoning everyone. Doppio calls attention to it when Ren wins the competition a second time and is questioning why Ren has been participating in every (male-focused) episode, much to Mysta's shock. Ren claims that it didn't work out with Uki, and Mysta just deals with it, since it's going to be one night anyway. Luca also thinks that Ren will appear in the next episode again.
  • Conquering Alien Prince: Used to fit this mold, having been the prince of a Proud Warrior Race that had invaded many planets in the past. However, as soon as he arrived on Earth, he fell in love with what the planet had to offer, such as the native wildlife and music, leading him to settle there and leave his world-conquering days behind him.
  • Cuddle Bug: Ren is cold-blooded and loves snuggling up to his chat for warmth.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Has prominent fangs when he opens his mouth.
  • A Dog Named "Cat": Quite literally. He has a dog whom he named Cat due to originally thinking they were a cat (see I Am Not Weasel below).
Ren: So now I just have a dog named Cat! And I can't change it, because now I'm emotionally attached! I fucked up. Ah, I messed up big-time.
  • Dude Magnet: Aster is enamored with him. In Luca's NIJIEN Dating Show, where Ren is a regular participant, he has won the hearts of two bachelors (Uki and Mysta), while Shu chose the Just Friends route with all five participants so that he can play Valorant with them.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Getting called Risotto, a popular rice based dish. Though he's more resigned to the fact that he can't fight it, than angered by it.
  • Exposed Extraterrestrials: Downplayed. Ren wears clothes, but he seems to have less of a nudity taboo than the average human, notably not understanding that one's nipples are an unusual topic of conversation at first.
  • Fantastic Arousal: According to a conversation he and Yugo had on Twitter, Ren's horns are sensitive.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Downplayed. While he won't attract all the animals in the area, Ren does have a way with birds. He's even befriended the birds near where he lives to the point they'll eat out of his hand.
  • The Greys: His VR avatar is a long and very thin grey alien. This avatar is prominently featured in Luca's NIJIEN Dating Show.
  • Healing Factor: The one detail he can divulge to Vox when making a NijiEN power tier list is that the members of Ren's species have the power to regenerate themselves. This alone convinces Vox to consider him as a "Godzilla city-destroying" threat and put him just ahead of Vox himself in the "Very Powerful" tier, hilarious bias of the rest of the list notwithstanding. It also comes in handy when Kyo cuts off his horns.
  • Horned Humanoid: He has black, skeletal-like horns on his head. According to him, this is an overall trait of his species.
  • "I Am Great!" Song: "Casket" is basically him putting on a more "egotistical" persona and singing about how he lives in everyone's heads rent-free.
  • I Am Not Weasel: Non-Talking Animal variant; used to think that dogs were cats and vice versa until Maria eventually corrected him.
  • Land Down Under: Downplayed; Ren lives in Australia, but has mentioned that he first landednote  in Canada, which explains his North American-sounding accent. Nevertheless, he is considered a genuine member of the NijiAU group.
  • Lethal Chef: When discussed which member of ILUNA would be the most likely to accidentally poison someone, they agreed it would be Ren. Kyo would poison someone with his cooking on purpose rather than by accident, while Scarle can cook decently despite her strange food creations she makes on occasion.
  • Lyrical Dissonance: Pulls this in "Blue Sugar". It's an upbeat song that practically demands to be danced to, but when asked about the meaning of the lyrics, Ren confirmed it's actually about his struggles with mental illness.
  • Nature Lover: One of his reasons for staying on Earth is because his home planet does not have grass, and he also has an appreciation for many of Earth's other flora and fauna as well.
  • The Pollyanna: Ren is a very positive person and he might be the most positive member of the EN branch. His positivity often clashes with Kyo's and Enna's negativity.
  • Proud Warrior Race: Ren was brought up in this sort of culture, and has since disavowed it.
  • Regular Character: So far, Ren has been featured in every episode of Luca's NIJIEN Dating Show as long as the bachelor is male, with Ren being one of the participants to try to capture the bachelor's heart, and he has got a high success rate .note  Even in the Luxiem-focused episode, Ren manages to be appear as one of the participants. Since the dating show is about same-sex blind dates, Ren does not appear in episodes with a female bachelor.
  • Rubber-Forehead Aliens: He's an alien prince, though he looks mostly human at first glance minus his fangs and horns. However, as the "Wanderer" music video reveals, he does have more outwardly alien traits than initially believed, such as a long tongue, an exoskeletal sternum and spine ridges, and a tail and claws that he can summon and retract at will.
  • Running Gag: Whenever his genmates get pissed at him, they threaten to cut off his horns, no matter how hard they are.
  • Ship Tease: He frequently flirts with Aster, to which the latter reacts with either embarrassment or acceptance.
    • Ren and Uki also flirt quite a bit, even labeling their first one-on-one collab as a date.
  • Signature Laugh: Ren's laugh is generally described as the "fuckboy laugh", something he tries to deny. When he attempts to demonstrate the difference between a "fuckboy laugh" and his own laugh, his chat claims that they sound the same.
  • Stylistic Suck: Visually, Ren's cover version of Let's Get It Started has just his head photoshopped on the other members' faces. This is in stark contrast to the later released cover version by Maria, who has all ILUNA members redrawn from scratch to make it look like she's cosplaying all of them.
  • Troll: Ren single-handedly caused numerous deaths in ILUNA's Pico Park collab. While some of his antics could be chalked up to lag, with he and Maria being Australians connected to a game session hosted in North America, others (such as walking into a button labeled "Don't Push" or trying to stand on a pipe that an enemy constantly emerges from) was very much on purpose.
  • Virtuous Vegetarianism: He used to be a cold-blooded warrior, but he has soften up after landing on Earth and he has no desire to eat meat except fish.
Ver Vermillion: You're an alien pescetarian?!
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: His Fan Community Nickname is the Renvaderz, specifically with a Z instead of an S to invoke this.

Height: 183 cm (160 cm at debut)

Occupation: 1st Year Student

  • The Ageless: He says that after gaining the moon's blessing, he no longer ages. He does clarify that he isn't completely immortal, though, and can still die from outside means. He later uses his eternal youth as his talent when he's participating in the NIJIEN Dating Show. After the moon blesses him a second time he gains the ability to age again, though apparently he can also control how quickly.
  • Alliterative Name: Kyo Kaneko.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: He's the youngest member of the EN branch and is treated as such. The older members tend to treat him as the representative of zoomers.
  • Berserk Button: Kyo has some choice words for people who fake being sick to get out of school, since he often had to leave due to genuine health issues and the school nurses didn't always trust that he was telling the truth.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • "Das crazy!" Kyo himself has pointed out how often he says that.
    • "Pause!"
    • "That sounds medically motivated."
    • "Me, personally".
  • Character Tics: He always turns on the audio reverb effect when he wants to emphasize something.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Like his Playful Cat Smile, he has small fangs that only appear when he gives a wide smile.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has quite the sardonic sense of humor, especially when paired with livers such as Ren or Luca.
  • Delicate and Sickly: His lore video shows him as a chronically ill, lonely boy stuck in the hospital before he was given the moon's blessing and transported to the ILUNA academy. Given what he's said on the matter, it's all but stated that this was inspired by his real-life medical struggles.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He and Aster were initially mistaken as girls by their genmates.
  • Gravity Master: He's granted this ability when the moon empowers him a second time.
  • He Is All Grown Up: After gaining the moon's blessing a second time, he ends up becoming 23 centimeters taller and subsequently appearing far more mature.
  • Hidden Depths: He once talked about having a liking for painting when he was younger, specifically realism.
  • History Repeats: As part of his Pokémon X Nuzlocke, he names a Bulbasaur after Ren, only for the Bulbasaur to faint and, per Nuzlocke rules, be ineligible for the rest of the run. He later catches an Axew that he also names after Ren... that doesn't last 30 minutes before fainting as well. He then decides to bend Nuzlocke rules and sacrifice a different Pokémon instead... only for Ren to die again in the next stream, at which point Kyo gives up.
  • Informed Attribute: The ILUNA trailer gave him the title of "Cheerful Guy", and while he can be this from time to time, he often presents himself as a snarky grump instead. Others have pointed out how "Cheerful Guy" doesn't fit him anymore.
  • Keet: The unit preview describes him as a "cheerful guy", and is very upbeat and mischievous. He was also very short upon debut and is the youngest liver in EN.
  • Lethal Chef: Invoked with his rice cooking handcam stream. He deliberately washed his rice with dish soap and a sponge just to Troll people. Uki Violetta blocked him on Twitter for a while as a response to that stream. After this, Enna allowed Kyo to redeem himself with their first off-collab stream, where she guides him how to wash and cook white rice properly and make some omurice together. According to Enna, the result of Kyo's cooking was actually good. During ILUNA's 6-months anniversary game show, when the members have to pick which one would be the most likely to accidentally poison someone with a dish, Kyo says that he would poison them on purpose, not by accident.
  • Motor Mouth: He talks rather fast, which makes it a bit difficult for some of his audience to understand him. He can talk so fast that it appears like he's rapping.
  • The Napoleon: Kyo is insecure about his height and blames his stopped aging for this, though he's eventually able to grow taller with the moon's blessing.
  • Like Brother and Sister: His genmates aside, Kyo has this dynamic with Enna Alouette from Ethyria, due to their similar personalities and the way how they act with each other. He also often treats Scarle as an older sister.
  • Lunacy: He was bestowed immortality by the moon. Later on, the moon would also grant him the power to control gravity and his personal flow of time.
  • Pass the Popcorn: When he sees Aster getting possessive over Ren after the latter mentions his collab with Uki, his only reaction is to crack out the popcorn and indulge in the drama.
Kyo: Let's get this telenovela started!
  • Picky Eater: Kyo has a very particular taste and doesn't eat anything he dislikes. It's so extreme that he ordered just a sandwich with only chicken meat in it in a fancy restaurant, which ends up being overpriced because he chose to only pick the bare minimum. Enna would mock him for that, particular during Vox's acting collab stream, where she plays a character who ordered the same thing as Kyo did. Aia and Mika also mocked him for his strange taste in food, and even though the two girls argue about whether pineapples on pizza is bad or good, they both agree that their taste isn't as bad as Kyo's.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Kyo is the Blue Boy to his fellow ILUNA first-year Maria's Pink Girl. He also has this dynamic with his collab partner Ironmouse whom he admires (particularly fitting for their Unravel Two collab which uses said color schemes).
  • Playful Cat Smile: He has a regular smile normally; however, when he gives a full beaming smile the corners of his mouth curve to become similar to a cat's.
  • Primal Scene: Kyo has told the story about him and his siblings accidentally watching the unrated version of The Internship (2013) instead of the PG13 version. He was younger than 13 at that time, but his parents didn't care about the PG13-rating and they went to sleep after they put in the unrated version in their player. The kids were traumatized by the adult content and Kyo said that he got nightmares of boobs.
  • Real Men Don't Cry: He doesn't cry unless he receives bad news about his health. During his "6 months anniversary" stream, he doesn't burst into tears like his fellow genmates do.
  • Running Gag: Associating him with printers due to his color scheme matching the CMYKnote color format. One of his fugis has a printer slapped on his head.
  • Talkative Loon: He often goes off on a very long tangent when he starts talking, often combined with his Motor Mouth.
  • Trapped in Another World: The power of the moon pulled him from his world to the world of ILUNA; Selen even asks "Where's the truck?" during the debut watch-along in reference to the well-known anime cliché that leads to this trope.
  • Tsundere: Directly called such by Ren, Enna and his fans.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Enna. They frequently enjoy roasting each other back and forth, but it's clear they consider each other friends and appreciate their similar senses of humor.
  • Vocal Dissonance: The cute, boyish character design he debuted with didn't match very well with his deep voice. He even lampshaded it, saying during the second part of his debut that he "looks like a 12-year-old and sounds like a 40-year-old man". With the new character model he received in September of 2023, which is aged up slightly from his original one, this is no longer the case.
