    Professor "Aionion"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/professor_msa.png

Professor "Aionion"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_professor.png
A scientist who worked for the Rebel Army before affiliating with the Mars People. His latest incarnation is in a withered body called "Aionion".

  • Ambiguous Gender: Due to the Professor cloning so much, it becomes difficult to determine what gender(if any) the Professor is supposed to be.
  • Ambiguously Human: Both of his known bodies have the sickly green color of the clones.
  • Came Back Wrong: After being killed by Abigail, he returned with the only living clone available although it is older and fragile. The new body requires an unknown creature to lift and protect it.
  • Deadly Disc: The Professor's special is bringing a laser saw that pierces through enemies in a certain area.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Simply referred to as the Professor. It is unknown whether Aionion is his real name or an alias of his.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Despite moving to another enemy faction, the Professor is insistent to destroy the Rebel Army and their weapons.
  • Idiot Hair: The largest cowlick in the series beating out Eri's.
  • Little Green Men: Probably used the same cloning properties as the player clones from Metal Slug 3, causing his skin to turn green. The Professor is also slightly shorter than the rest of the human units.
  • Meaningful Name: Aionion is Greek for "eternal", signifying his constant resurrections.
  • Non-Idle Rich: Made his finances from his research from the Rebel Army. He's rich enough to give Millefie money whenever she needed it.
  • Vague Age: It is unknown how long the Professor has lived throughout the various clones.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Double subverted. Anytime the Professor is thwarted in the Extra Ops, the assailant is immediately ready to take him out until one of the Professor's comrades comes just in time to save him. He eventually does get cornered and killed by Abigail, however he comes back later in new body.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_marty.png

  • The Bore: A reason why the Professor doesn't take much interest in her.
  • Butt-Monkey: Most of the Professor's assistants tend to dismiss and ridicule her.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Doesn't get along well with Marty when she finds out he is the Professor's new assistant.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Dresses up as a Mars Person and speaks their language to combat the actual ones the Professor has an affinity for.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Makes her first appearance in the "Mad Scientists" event before fleshing out her personality in Another Story.
  • Expressive Shirt: Her costume's eyes bulge out when she's attacking similar to the Mars People.
  • Expy: As a persistent Self-Proclaimed Love Interest with a dominant color of pink and red hair decorations, she is basically the Amy Rose to the Professor's Sonic The Hedgehog.
  • Palette Swap: Without her costume, Percier looks similar to a glassless Fio but with green hair.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Unlike the other newcomers, she makes her debut in an event starring someone else (Navy in this case) before becoming a unit.
  • Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: "Eternal assistant", as she puts it.

    Clone Abby
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clone_abby_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_cloneabby.png

  • Bold Inflation: In the Japanese language, her name is kept in English. Her name is also in full caps in SNK's descriptions.

  • Evil Knockoff: While Abigail is already part of an evil army, Clone Abby strips off any sort of emotion the original has.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: Her green skin is a standard for the Martian clones.
  • Palette Swap: Unusual for a clone, Clone Abby's hair color changed as well as her skin.

  • Death from Above: Sends small satellites that drop large chunks of ice.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: A Martian standard.
  • Out of Focus: From her Extra Ops, as it's mostly delegated to the Martian Rangers. Her contribution to the story is the Professor's discovery of White Baby.
  • Palette Swap: Unusual for a clone, Clone Betty's hair color changed as well as her skin.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Big red eyes compared to Clone Abigail.

    Ariadna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ariadna_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_ariadna.png
A former commanding officer of the Rebel Army. She joined the Martians after being unwittingly experimented on by the Professor.

  • BFG: A large cannon gun. It's as big as she is if not bigger and uses it as a battering ram at close range.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Likely had this relationship in her previous life with Abigail as the student. Makes Abby's reaction to her former mentor being her latest enemy all the more poignant.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: A result of the Professor removing her past.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ariadna stayed at the Rebel base after her experimentations, but she eventually joined the Martians after feeling uninterested by the ongoing human conflicts.
  • Hulking Out: She possesses superhuman abilities when an electric signal is received.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: While the Professor removed most of her memories, Ariadna is aware of her former Rebel Army colleagues.
  • That Man Is Dead: At the end of her Extra Ops, she outright tells Abigail that she is no longer the mentor she knew before.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: What Ariadna looks forward to from her former student, Abigail.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_halle.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_clario.png
A cryogenic human from a dead planet who was found and taken care of by the Martians.

  • Aliens Speaking English: Despite being a human in another planet, she can speak perfect English.
  • Deep Sleep: The amount of time in cryostasis put her in massive jetlag, so she spends most of her time sleeping. She instantly wakes up when provoked.
  • Energy Weapon: The Tachyon Gate (the large dome above) produces a large and wide beam that can eliminate projectiles.
  • Higher-Tech Species: Clario only brought her equipment that is far advanced than what the Martians are able to decipher and operate.
  • Last of Their Kind: The only surviving creature from the planet the Invaders destroyed.
  • Sensual Spandex: Her bodysuit seriously clings into her body.

A Rebel soldier who was coerced by the Martians to clean up space debris.

  • Almighty Janitor: Harriot operates the Mars Sweeper, a large cleaning machine used to pick up debris that litters around Earth. She uses the collected trash as part of her attacks.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Harriot is offered three meals and nap time per day by Percier. Harriot immediately accepts.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: A competent soldier but often asks others to do her job.
  • The Mole: Once confronted by Abigail, Harriot is let go in the condition she works as the Rebel Army's spy against the Martians.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Her defeat animation is calling a UFO to pick her up before the Mars Sweeper melts.

    Code Marionette:Un
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/code_marionette_un_msa.png

An artificial lifeform created by the professor using Rootmars' DNA.

  • Anime Hair: Her short hair splits on the ends to resemble a Mars Person.
  • Expy: A pretty girl cloned from an alien life form designated by its brain matter? Sounds like MB of Metroid: Other M.
  • Thinking Up Portals: Uses a portal for transportation and dodging attacks.

    Pauline
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pauline_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_pauline.png
A priestess of Anastasia IV's Sect who enlisted with the Martians after being captivated by the Professor's mystique.

  • Energy Weapon: Unleashes two wide laser beams that travel between portals in varying directions.
  • Nerds Are Sexy: Has a crush on the Professor, even when he's in a worndown clone of himself.
  • Smarter Than You Look: As a former priestess, she is very kind with people. She's also very cunning, with the Gemini Twins noticing how she was able to use Leone's panic to gather up numerous United Front coins and convince her to stay with the Martians.
  • Unknown Rival: Pauline finds Percier's interest on the Professor to be platonic (being the eternal assistant). She doesn't realize that Percier is giving glares whenever she and the Professor are close together.

    Leone
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leone_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_leone.png
A potential member of the Rebel Army's ACE division who ran to the Martians for help in removing the large Invader stuck on her tank.

  • Cowardly Lion: Cowers on the side of the tank while the Invader controls everything.
  • Cyborg: The Invader's fate is fusing itself onto the tank and having full control of it. The Martians mentioned that Leone would also been fused if she arrived later.
  • Enemy Mine: In a technical sense, a Rebel Army soldier with an Invader controlling her tank within the Martian army without any conflict with each other.
  • First Day from Hell: Her first mission on ACE has an Invader latch onto her tank. She refuses to go back to the Rebel Army as she sees this as a failure. She stays with the Martians until the Invader is removed.

    Claris
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claris_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_claris_3.png

  • Constantly Curious: Wants to know everything from Earth, running off by herself when something interests her.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: A hand the size of a human protects Claris when she deeply in trouble.
  • Manchild: Literally. Claris was meant to be released at the age similar to the Gemini Twins but was delayed due to the Professor being dead at that time. Claris physically grew up but has the intelligence of a child. Because of this, Claris is always accompanied by one of the Martian associates.
  • Negative Space Wedgie: Can summon space rifts that damages surrounding enemy units.
  • Psi Blast: The brain bubble emits rings of energy.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Along with Sideboob.

Invaders

    As A Whole
  • Aliens Speaking English: Unlike the Mars People, the Invaders are able to speak perfect English without the use of a translator.
  • Combat Tentacles: Everyone except Lydia and the Metzeleis are able to transform a limb of their body into a weapon.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Their true selves are not known to the player. Even when Nowan is in the middle of transforming, all the player sees is a purple ball of goo.
  • Man on Fire: Their general death animation except Fedeln and Odile has them burst into blue flames.
  • They Look Like Us Now: Their special ability is to transform into Earthlings. Schwarz is a parasite on a host and Fedeln is a humanoid.

    Odette
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/odette_msa.png

Odette Ver.Innocence

Everlasting Summer Odette

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_odette.png
A human Invader whose task is to investigate life-forms being energy affected by the Sol Dae Rokker Anima.

  • Combat Tentacles: She can transform her arms to tentacles to whip her enemies to death.
  • Head Pet: Her "Everlasting Summer" variant has a small bird on her head. Given their nature, it may be a part of her.
  • Human Aliens: Odette only transforms her arms in order to keep her true form secret.
  • Mellow Fellow: When not attacking, Odette is rather laid-back. She yawns when idle, hides her face when knocked back and just bobs left and right during a victory. It's likely this is the reason why Annette was forced to come to Earth to check on her.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes are red as well widen when she attacks.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Annette's Red.
  • Winged Humanoid: Odette Ver.Innocence.

    Annette
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/annette_msa.png

Christmas Annette

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_annette.png
An inventress of the Invaders. Came to Earth after being annoyed by the status of Odette's investigation.

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: She finds Odette's laid-back behavior bothersome and often reminds her to do her job.
  • Combat Tentacles: Unlike Odette, Annette is able to transform her tentacles into claws or a heavy pile of goo. In her holiday suit, she extends the attack with a gooey Christmas tree.
  • Hot Blade: Her special variation superheats her tentacle attacks for more damage.
  • Impossibly-Low Neckline
  • Letting Her Hair Down: Her Christmas Variant has her hair loose.
  • Ms. Fanservice: With probably the largest bust of the entire series and doesn't mind showing it off, she goes for a more refined style of dress, however.
  • Mama Bear: Do NOT mess will Odette. She will make you regret it.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: She softens when communicating with Odette in secret. The reason Annette's arrogant is to avoid revealing to other Invaders that she and Odette are sisters.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her naturally red eyes widen as she attacks.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Odette's Blue.
  • They Look Like Us Now: Wears an outfit similar to the Masked Soldiers (without the mask).
  • This Is a Drill: Similar to Odette's special attack except it travels horizontally.

    Lydia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_lydia.png
A spy of the Invaders who is accompanying Annette. She disguises herself as a Regular Army solder.

  • Homing Projectile: Sometimes circles around a spot where a unit may pop up (like the Aeshi Nero).
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Shoots more rocket missles than Red Eye.
  • The Mole: As a Sparrows unit, although she is never seen interacting with the Regular Army.
  • Palette Swap: Looks like Red Eye (who is a swap of Fio herself) with purple clothes and green hair.

    Nowan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nowan_msa.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msa_nowan.png
An Invader with impressive shape shifting powers.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Even Nowan doesn't know what gender they are. Everyone refers to Nowan as a "he", although in later updates the game calls Nowan a "she".
  • Bifauxnen: Later updates has Nowan referred to as a woman. Nowan's short hair and suit can be mistaken for a man.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: Their impressions require more work. Allen Jr. caught Nowan's bluff when the former said his father laughs with an extra "ha" in the end.
  • Not Quite Flight: Produces a set of wings to leap forward. Nowan also hovers during their winning animation.
  • Punny Name: Pronounced as "No One".
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Hates working with the Metzelei.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: Their normal form is taken from a human they met long ago. This explains why their style looks different from their peers.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: Nowan is able to turn their limbs into spears, deploy gliding membranes from their back, turn themself into other characters (Allen O'Neil, Jin, Lightning Fio, and Beatriz) with their weapons in hand, and can even turn into a fully functioning Sand Marine.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Is able to perfectly transform into anything. Gotten to the point that Nowan can't remember what they looked like, how old they are, or if they had a different name.

  • Accidental Murder: Poisons a girl by just holding her hand.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Even though he's in the highest rank in the army, nearly everyone of the Invaders greatly dislike him and don't mind to insult him whenever possible. The only three that have a somewhat positive relationship with him is Barbeln, Franke, and Bersek.
  • Beat the Curse Out of Him: Whatever Caroline shot at his wings caused it to stop leaking poison. Overjoyed by the revelation, Fedeln purposely puts himself on enemy fire until Nowan intervenes out of avoiding having Annette scold them for killing Fedeln.
  • Blessed with Suck: Has the ability to poison his enemies. Too bad his poison is uncontrollable and very potent to every living being.
  • The Dreaded: Thanks to his uneven bursts of poison, even his allies are weary when working with him.
  • Extreme Doormat: Despite having the power to retaliate from those who actively degrade him, Fedeln keeps a positive attitude and even tries to make amends.
  • Loners Are Freaks: Locked away from the other Invaders so he won't accidentally kill them all. Fedeln is quite the looney fellow.
  • Pretty Butterflies: Fedeln's wings are very colorful and also dangerous.
  • Poison Is Corrosive: His poison has the ability to melt everything.

    Rillacle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rillacle_msa.png

  • Guns Akimbo: Fights with two laser-armed tonfas.
  • Love Will Lead You Back: Tries to forget about the past but always keeps thinking about Louise. When Fedeln asks Bersek if they would take a quick look at her before leaving, Bersek immediately rejects and leaves.
  • The Mole: After fighting off the brainwashing, he continues to stay with the Invaders, looking for a chance to destroy them from the inside.
  • Odd Friendship: Seems to tolerate Fedeln more than the other Invaders.

    Geweih Metzelei
