"It's not like I could deliver lunches to everyone in the whole village, so… instead, I've decided to become Hokage!"

One of the main characters of Boruto, she's Sasuke and Sakura's daughter. A genin of Boruto's graduating Academy batch and a former classmate of Boruto. She was the youngest member of Boruto's class as well as its honors student. She knows Boruto since infancy because their parents. She is a close childhood friend to him but also thinks he's an idiot that needs to be watched over and kept out of trouble. Living alone with her mother Sakura, Sarada was rather unmotivated in her early ninja life until she met her father Sasuke. She has a huge admiration for the 7th Hokage and wants to be Hokage herself. She uses mainly lightning attacks with taijutsu inherited from Sakura. Sarada is the youngest current user of the Sharingan. Currently a Chunin in Team Konohamaru.

    A-G
  • Accidental Kiss: Subverted. In episode 38, Sarada has quick reflexes and thus Boruto kissed the sole of her shoe instead of her mouth.
  • The Ace: Sarada is a young kunoichi, who despite her age, is considered to be an elite genin, with skillset on par with those of a chunin. She is well regarded by her peers, but also by Konoha higher-ups. She proved herself to be a master of shurikenjutsu, gaining the highest marks in class.
    • This characterization of Sarada gets hilariously deconstructed in episode 152. Since Sarada is naturally talented to a lot of things, and being Sakura's daughter, her classmates automatically assume she will excel at medical-ninjutsu and pressure her to accept a course she doesn't want to. She is afraid of disappointing her mother, Naruto and her peers, putting a lot of stress on herself, leading to Sarada hiding that she has no affinity for medical ninjutsu. By the end of the episode, she is forced to acknowledge the truth. Moral of the story? Just because Sarada is naturally talented in certain areas, it doesn't mean she can be talented at really everything.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In relation to her Sharingan awakening. In Naruto Gaiden, her Sharingan first appears during her sprint to the tower Sasuke is in, and it was commonly interpreted that hers was a uniquely shown case of a Sharingan awakening due to a positive emotion — excitement at being able to meet her father — rather than the standard traumatic fare. The anime's Adaptation Expansion for this arc shows Sakura and Shizune discussing how Sarada's had the Sharingan long before that scene takes place, and that it was likely due to the pain brought about by Sasuke's absence. It just had never fully manifested until the positive emotional event, until then only being barely noticed by Sarada as moments where her vision got blurry.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In the manga, Sarada already had 3 tomoe in her Sharingan by the time of her fight with Boro, while in the anime version she still has 2 tomoe.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Sakura gives her this when she was younger, in the same fashion that Itachi used to do to Sasuke. At the end of Gaiden, Sasuke himself does this to Sarada.
  • Alliterative Family: Sarada shares her first syllable with her father, Sasuke, and her mother Sakura.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While Kishimoto claimed he gave Sarada glasses to make her look cute because he considered a girl who looks like Sasuke would be scary, we still don't know why she has sight problems In-Universe. Several flashbacks from Naruto Gaiden show a young Sarada without the glasses which implies she didn't always need them. She is shown wearing glasses after becoming mysteriously ill in her childhood. Some fans speculations are that she had the Sharingan at an early age, or because Sasuke went mostly blind with the Mangekyou Sharingan several times; while the disease as the cause, at best is being implied in the manga.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Whenever Boruto gets injured or does something dangerous, Sarada will always act very worried first, and than to switch to being angry at him.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Sarada is unusually humble for an Uchiha, but she still has her moments. She has no problems Trash Talking her opponents, and will often brag about her Sharingan in a fight.
  • Ascended Extra: In the epilogue, Sarada is a Last Episode, New Character along with the rest of the new generation. Then she becomes the protagonist of the Naruto Gaiden miniseries.
  • Awesome by Analysis: In episode 30, Sarada realizes: "Running an electrical current above a fixed level in water causes ionization." Then dropped an Explosive Tag which combined with the ionized water resulted in an explosion. She also in episode 38 uses her Sharingan to try and find Mirai's weakness while Boruto fights the older kunoichi, but that attempt fails. In the manga, she is the one who Realized that Boro's Ninjutsu was made from a virus and later was able to localize his weakpoint and attack it with a chidori.
  • Badass Adorable: Sarada has pretty much won most of her fights and is adorable all the way.
  • Badass Bookworm: Again, she's kicked plenty of bad guy butts and is very studious. She's the best new gen character in theoretical knowledge. In the movie, she's the only one who read all the books in the book series and it helped her team to get pass the first round.
  • Badass Family: The daughter of Sasuke, the last surviving member of the Uchiha clan, and Sakura, the protégé of the Fifth Hokage and the world's best medical ninja.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Kishimoto specifically gave Sarada glasses to make her cuter because she looked scary like Sasuke when he designed her. Although she's distinctly more hot headed and outspoken than the typical example, Sarada still has her sweeter moments that help put her in this category.
  • Big Damn Reunion: After years of not seeing each other, Sarada gives Boruto a rather bitter-sweet hug at the of chapter 5 of Blue Vortex.
  • The Big Girl: Sarada is class 5, as she is a young girl who doesn't look very imposing, but she is the most physically powerful and often steps up to take down The Dragon to a villain. Mitsuki and Boruto often rely on Sarada's raw power and durability to take down powerful opponents, when outsmarting them is not working.
  • Blue Blood: Sarada is the heiress to the Uchiha clan, one of the four noble clans of Konohagakure.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Kishimoto himself said Sarada was originally going to have long swept hair, but he felt it would not fit her look as a ninja and modified her hairstyle. In Boruto Two Blue Vortex, her hair is even shorter.
  • Brainy Brunette: From a young age, Sarada demonstrated hints of being extremely intelligent for her age. Like her mother, she has a keen talent for observation and analyzing situations, which she uses to come up with the most rational solutions. Like her father, she has critical thinking habits, showing a keen and analytical mind, which aids her in battle to better read an enemy's attack. Although Boruto is considered the most advanced in ninjutsu, her theoretical knowledge is the best of her year.
    • In Boruto the Movie, Sarada mentioned she had read the book series mentioned in Sai's quiz, and was surprised to know that there was a fifth book, only to realize that the question was a sham and that there was no fifth book, which helped her team advance. Note that Boruto and Mitsuki turned to her after Sai read out the question, which notes that they acknowledge Sarada's intelligence and knowledge of the book.
    • During the Field Trip arc, she beats Buntan Kurosuki through the use of science, using both the latter's lightning release jutsu and her own copying of it, combined with an illusion from the Sharingan, to fill the cave they're in with raw hydrogen gas (via electrolysis of the water around them) to amplify her bomb-tagged kunai to take Buntan out.
  • Breakout Character: Even though many people got tired to see the Uchiha drama taking over the entire plot of the original run, Sarada still became popular within the franchise, for being the first prominent female Uchiha, and a female character who is actually on par with male characters. When chapter 700 of Naruto, got released, she become an instant hit. As a result, Sarada receives her own spin-off, Naruto Gaiden, which garnered a lot of praises from critics, for her realistic characterization and her dream to become Hokage. When Boruto started to air, there were complains even from IGN for her lack of appearance and being treated like a recurring character. After Scarlet Spring was adapted, she officially became the Deuteragonist. Sarada also has various types of merchandises based on her, and when Boruto: Naruto the Movie was released in the theaters, she was the only character beside the main to receive fans made after her.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Like Boruto, Sarada is a naturally gifted Child Prodigy, but she never devoted herself to her training out of disinterest. That is, until she was inspired to become the Hokage by Naruto in Naruto Gaiden, after which she began to receive comments about how uncharacteristically fired up about training she has become.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: She calls out her father for his complete absence in his daughter's life.
  • The Captain: Her teammates appoint her as the commander of Team 7 during their battle with Boro.
  • Cassandra Truth: Sarada and Sumire are the only ones not affected by Omnipotence, but they unfortunately cannot convince anyone of Boruto’s innocence. The effects of the Omnipotence are so powerful that even when people start to see the inconsistencies between their memories and reality, they stop questioning it for long. Sasuke is the only one who believes Sarada because he saw the Mangekyou Sharingan awaken in her eyes when she begs him to protect Boruto, leading him to put his trust in her judgement. The beginning of Boruto Two Blue Vortex has Sarada futilely beg Shikamaru to rescind the order to hunt down Boruto, unable to convince him that Boruto isn’t a traitor.
  • Character Development: In Naruto Gaiden, she goes from a depressed, apathetic ninja dealing with her family dysfunction to a happy, loving daughter determined to become Hokage.
  • Child Prodigy: Her friends think so given that she's an Uchiha, though she certainly doesn't believe she's special. She quickly shows she has her mother's strength and her father's Sharingan skills though.
  • Childhood Friends: The anime and the novel adaptation of Boruto the Movie, both state Boruto being Sarada's childhood first friend. She used to be a bit of a loner before meeting Boruto in her younger years.
  • Color Motifs: Sarada represents the color red.
  • Combat Clairvoyance: Her Sharingan gives her this power, giving her extreme accuracy for her Super-Strength as well as excellent dodging skills.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Whenever she is put in a tensioned situation, Sarada proves to be a quick thinker. When she and Boruto were hypnotized by Kirara to fight each other to death, she reflects her Sharingan on a sword, putting herself on genjutsu, thus releasing herself. Sarada is prone to use genjutsu on her enemies, by making them believe they killed her, only for Sarada to launch a surprise attack. Her science and theory knowledge are also put at good use in a battle. And if she is at great disadvantage, she will rather retreat and come up later with a plan.
  • Combat Stilettos: Wears some pretty tall heels as part of her ninja outfit in the manga, although she wears her movie outfit instead in the anime.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character:
    • Whereas Sasuke was antisocial and tended to dismiss people who tried to get close, Sarada is polite and quite sociable, although a little reserved. Their motivations are also different: Sasuke was motivated to avenge his family, while Sarada is motivated to discover her own family.
    • In regards to her mother, both of them are kunoichis who specialize in using precise chakra for Super-Strength. However, while Sakura started off as The Load before becoming an Action Survivor and then an Action Girl later in the manga and had a crush on Sasuke, Sarada starts off as a full-on warrior with zero interest in boys so far and, while she and Boruto may argue, they clearly have a grudging respect for one another.
  • Cultured Warrior: Is very well read and enjoys books regarding history. In the movie, she's the only one who read all the books in the book series and it helped her team to get pass the first round.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Has black hair blackish eyes, traits she inherited from her father.
  • Cute Bruiser: She may be cute, but she can knock you out. She's also physically the strongest in Team Konohamaru and of the New Era ninja, as her strength stat is a whopping 160.
  • The Cutie: She was this as a tot. Her smile is something she definitely got from Sakura since Sasuke doesn't smile much.
  • Daddy DNA Test: She resorts to this in her desire to know who her real birth mother is. Suigetsu procures for her a sample of DNA, which is supposedly Karin's, for the test, and it comes up a match. Turns out it was her own umbilical cord Sarada had matched with. Karin, who had been the midwife, had held onto it.
  • Daddy's Girl: After learning the reason for Sasuke's absence, Sarada develops a strong bond with Sasuke. He often dots her because he doesn't want to develop same cold and distant relationship he had with his own father. Sasuke tries to do things with Sarada that he would absolutely never do under any circumstances. The main reason Sasuke chose to help Boruto after the Omnipotence branded Boruto a criminal was because Sarada begged him to.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Sarada's sense of humor matches her cynical demeanor.
  • Death Glare: When Naruto suggests they head out to rescue Sakura after Sarada sees evidence she isn't her real mother, she shoots him a livid glare accentuated by her Sharingan and snaps that she has no reason to go save someone who isn't even her mother and that she doesn't care about the people who've lied to her for her whole life.
  • Declaration of Protection: After realizing the love she has for her mother deep down, she mentally declares that she will protect Sakura as she protects her from Shin Uchiha by showing off her inherited chakra control.
  • Deuteragonist: Of the Boruto franchise.
  • Dismotivation: Sarada starts Naruto Gaiden with zero interest into being a ninja and wonders why is everyone so worked about it.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • She finally meets her father after most of her life not seeing him... only for Sasuke to assume she's an enemy thanks to her having unwittingly awakened her Sharingan.
    • When Sarada argues with Naruto, her rant parallels her father's words when he defected from the village. Naruto takes note of this and is able to successfully convince her to not follow in her father's footsteps.
  • The Dreaded: Played for Laughs most of times. She is known to have a scary temper, that instantly frightens those like Boruto, Shikadai, Iwabe and Denki, especially when she goes Scary Shiny Glasses mode. Chocho even calls her "Devil Sarada".
  • Dude Magnet: It is stated that Sarada is popular among her male classmates, just like how Sasuke was a Chick Magnet when he was her age.
    • Tsurushi Hachiya, a genin of Kirigakure certainly enjoyed carrying Sarada on his back and blushed constantly around her.
    • Sasuke seems worried a bit about this, during Parent Child Day he encounters Shino and inquires if during her time as his student Sarada picked up any "creepy insects" i.e. unwanted male admirers. His use of words is not appreciated by Shino of course.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her name is the Japanese pronunciation of "salad."
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Naruto Gaiden, her appearance parallels Sasuke's first appearance at academy before his graduation. Sarada behaves similarly aloof and apathic and even has same body language as a young Sasuke, as well his tendency for Finger-Tenting.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Sarada inherited same black eyes shared by all Uchihas. Strangely enough, in Naruto Gaiden manga, she is drawn having Sasuke's eye shape, while the anime gives her Sakura's wide catlike-shaped eyes instead.
  • Family of Choice: Naruto helps her realize that what really matters is the connection between people. Sakura may not be related to Sarada by blood, but for all intents and purposes, she is her mother, and Sarada wants to save her. While the revelation that she's actually Sakura's daughter is proven, it still helps Sarada realize to love her family.
  • Fat and Skinny: She is lithe and agile compared to the strong, chubby Chocho.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Fills the spot as the Fighter for her team. In terms of Taijutsu, Sarada is physically the strongest, but while being very intelligent, is more focused on raw power compared to her teammates. Sarada also has less showings in Ninjutsu than Boruto, and Mutsuki is much more crafty in battle.
  • Fist Pump: Sarada tends to clench her fists whenever she feels wronged, excited, angry or worried.
  • Force and Finesse: The Super-Strength Force to Boruto's graceful Gentle Fist style Finesse.
  • Forehead of Doom: She has inherited her mother's, which is one of the clues to her identity in the start of the epilogue.
  • Friendship Denial: Before becoming Boruto's teammate, Sarada constantly denied being any sort of "nakama" with Boruto.
  • The Gadfly:
    • Under her well-mannered and sullen appearance, Sarada hides a naughtier side, which doesn't mind teasing and poking fun at people just to get a reaction. Her favorite targets are Chocho and Boruto.
    • Sasuke himself is a target of hers on occasion. To handle her concerns about the health of her parents' relationship/intimacy, during the events of Sasuke Shinden: The Teacher's Star Pupil, she confirms Sasuke and Sakura are being intimate by telling Sasuke that her mom's lipstick is smudged on his face. Sasuke reflexively tries to wipe the nonexistent mark away only for Sarada to smugly point out Sakura doesn't actually wear lipstick, but that his reaction means there was reason it would be there if she did, making her father groan in exasperation and promise to talk to her more about this next time.
  • Generation Xerox:
    • Like her father, Sasuke:
      • Like Sasuke who resembles his mother, Sarada resembles her mother. Their hairstyles are also similar with both Sakura and Sarada's bangs parting towards the left.
      • Like Sasuke, she has an affinity for using weapons, particularly Shuriken and blades.
      • Later in the Manga she shows a preference for a combination of Fire release jutsu and the chidori the same as her father when he was a kid.
      • She had expressed her want to leaving the village in a fit of anger and frustration like Sasuke, but the difference was that Naruto managed to convince her not to.
      • Sarada also wears her headband on her forehead, much like how Sasuke did in Part I.
    • Like her mother, Sakura:
      • She has an affinity for red clothing that is styled similarly to her mother's Qipao.
      • She also uses her fists for her fighting style.
    • Like her uncle, Itachi:
      • She is prone to use genjutsu on her enemies, unlike her father at her age.
      • She is very snarky and savage against the foes she faces.
      • She is utterly loyal to the village and follows his Will of Fire.
      • They both have same ideas about what it means to be Hokage, despite the impossibility to ever meet.
Itachi: It's not that if you become Hokage everyone will acknowledge you. It's the ones who are acknowledged that can become Hokage.
Sarada: My goal is to become Hokage. So first, I have to become a worthy shinobi, one who is acknowledged by everyone.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Sarada is a young Proper Lady who behaves polite, if a bit vain, is studious, enjoys watching romantic dramas and soap dramas plus wears dresses several times. She is also tomboyish, since she is serious, fiery, cynical, very confrontational and a very action-oriented Brainy Brunette who often chews out everyone and enjoys getting dirty and filthy just as much the boys do. Made more obvious visually, as she has short black hair and her ninja outfit has a qipao dress not unlike her mother's paired with shortpants and stockings.
  • Go-Getter Girl: Sarada could be the poster girl in the Naruto Franchise. Since her academy years, she was a perfectionist, and believed fooling around with her peers would get in her way. After deciding to become Hokage, she started to believe that a Hokage must be perfect and capable of everything. She got easily frustrated when she couldn't learn Medical ninjutsu, when she thought this is one of the basic abilities a Hokage must have. She also cannot stand not being good enough with the Sharingan, training with Sasuke day and night until she could be satisfied.
  • Goal in Life: After Naruto Gaiden, Sarada now aspires to becoming Hokage.
    H-R
  • Hereditary Hairstyle: Played With. Her hairstyle is a combination of her parents' haircuts. She has Sasuke's spiky short hair, but fashions her left bang after her mother. Her time skip haircut resembles even more Sasuke's duck stylized haircut from his youth.
  • Heroic BSoD: The results of the DNA test left her utterly depressed and furious to the point where she refused to help save Sakura and seemed ready to follow in her father's footsteps by abandoning the village. Fortunately for her, Naruto manages to snap her out of it.
  • Heroic Lineage:
    • She is the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, the descendant and reincarnation of Indra ÅŒtsutsuki and the Leaf's most skilled medic, respectively.
    • Much like her uncle, Itachi Uchiha, Sarada is very loyal to the village and is a firm believer in the Will of Fire, making her one of the few members of the Uchiha clan to not fall victimized to the Curse of Hatred.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Naruto is Sarada's idol and a large motivation for entering the Chunin Exams since as a rookie it is a chance to showcase her skills in front of him. Sasuke muses that by following Naruto, Sarada will avoid all the mistakes her father had committed.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Has a close relationship with Chocho Akimichi, being the only person around Chocho can let herself be insecure and vulnerable.
Sarada:I think it's great... that part of you.
Chocho: Well, you're the only one I can talk to about this kind of things, right?
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Sarada is afraid to watch horror movies but seems to have a passion for romantic dramas and soap operas.
    • She also knows of sexual intercourse from an incredibly young age.
  • Hot-Blooded: Sarada, like her mother, has a wicked temper although she is more liable to lash out verbally rather than physically. Luckily for her, it also isn't exaggerated in the anime the way Sakura's was.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: Despite having just a tomoe in her Sharingan, Sarada is perfectly capable of casting genjutsu, though not very strong ones.
  • Iconic Outfit: Her genin outfit from Naruto Gaiden, which is also seen in Boruto: Naruto The Movie as well as from episode 20 onwards in the Boruto anime, counts as this for her.
  • Insane Troll Logic: When Sarada ran away from home in order to met Sasuke, she finds an old photo of Sasuke with his former Taka teammates. Sarada quickly jumps to the conclusion that Karin must be her real mother. Not because of sort of physical appearance, but simply because they both wear red glasses. Then she asks Suigetsu to run a DNA test that has a 100% match. Of course that she decides leaving the village in a fit of anger. Truly Sasuke's daughter when it comes to nonsensical reasoning, lampshaded by the man himself.
Sasuke: Don't worry. You probably took after me in that aspect.
  • Insult of Endearment: Sarada tends to call Boruto with "Baka Boruto" (Stupid Boruto), whenever he does something stupid, but also when she is concerned about his well being.
  • In the Blood: Even with the Curse of Hatred gone forever, Sarada still has a genetic disposition for the other less pleasant emotional experiences of being an Uchiha. Her mother gets justifiably worried about Sarada's future and what it takes to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan. Of course Sarada awakens her Sharingan in a rare case of positive emotion rather than the typical traumatic event; and she's a firm believer of Will of Fire and wants to become Hokage. Even so, she showed a predisposition toward the typical self-destructive behavior of the Uchihas in Naruto Gaiden, when she was ready to throw her parents under the bus and leave the village in a fit of anger, just like Sasuke did in his childhood, despite considering Team 7 his Family of Choice. There is also a draw made by Kishimoto where she has The Dreaded Mangekyou Sharingan, with similar patterns to her father's.
  • Irony:
    • Sarada is nearsighted when her Sharingan is not active, requiring corrective lenses.
    • One that crosses over with Boruto is that, by the end of Gaiden, their motivations are more or less opposite to that of their fathers'. Sarada declares that she will one day become Hokage, whereas Boruto has no interest in becoming Hokage and wants to surpass his father instead. This becomes doubly ironic when you consider that, because of this, Sarada and Boruto's desires are more similar to Naruto and Sasuke, respectively, rather than to their own fathers (though without a lot of the drama and tragedy that those two had to go through).
  • It's All About Me: Considering her father's family as a baseline she can definitely be counted as an Aversion, even after awakening her Sharingan. Sarada is repeatedly shown to be very level-headed (far more than either of her parents were at her age) and supportive of her friends.
  • Kiai: Sarada likes to hand out her super punches while screaming out her mother's Catchphrase "SHANNARO!"
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Sarada comes across as deeply bitter and cynical for her age, likely as a result of her confusing-at-best family situation. That being said, she also comes across as much friendlier and more likeable than her father was at her age, so it evens out.
  • The Leader: Of her team. Most of all, due to Naruto's influence as Hokage helping her through her troubled youth without her actual father in her life. Boruto later considers her a worthy future Hokage candidate, something her father could not have achieved. With her as a future leader, the Uchiha's dark reputation became clearer. Later in the fight against Boro she is named the leader of the team by Kawaki and Mitsuki and makes a plan that ensures the team survival and victory.
  • Leg Focus: The anime focuses on her legs in several occasions, but in a more subtle manner than the manga.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Learning Chidori finally gave Sarada the boost she needed and turned her into a badass blur of motion.
    Boro: She is too fast.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: While Sarada has a number of differences with her parents, she did gain a few of their character traits.
    • Sarada and Sasuke — Like her father, she is generally aloof and reluctant to acknowledge certain people unless she thinks that they deserve it. She also, like her father, has critical thinking habits, showing a keen and analytical mind, which aids her in battle to better read an enemy's attack.
    • Sarada and Sakura — She has a similar fierce temper and recklessness like her mother, as well as her mother's studiousness. Like her mother, she can analyze an enemy's attack on the battlefield.
  • Lineage Comes from the Father: She physically and emotionally looks like a mini female Sasuke, complete with Sharingan. By the end of Naruto Gaiden, she's acting more like Sasuke did before the Uchiha massacre, reservedly cheerful. However, this trope is partially Subverted in that Naruto Gaiden focuses on Sarada's relationship with both of her parents and the significant power-up she gains isn't Sharingan but is instead her mother's Super-Strength.
  • Lipstick-and-Load Montage: In episode 20, happens a more practical example (sans the lipstick part), Sarada is ready to go on a trip to find Sasuke. She changes from her red dress to a more ninja stylized outfit, which is a combination of what Sasuke and Sakura wore in Naruto part 1.
  • Little Miss Badass: Chapter 9 of the Naruto Gaiden miniseries shows this perfectly when she uses her Sharingan and Super-Strength powers in tandem to first kill the teleporting eye creature and then to bury a large number of Shin Jrs.
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Part of her issues with her Disappeared Dad is that she knows her father isn't around, but she doesn't know why. Her desire to know leads her make her own assumptions, and take drastic measures in finding out, with tragic results.
    • Naruto and her parents deliberately kept a lot about the Uchiha Clan a secret from her, which is probably for the best. While Sarada is remarkably mature for her age, the truth about the clan would be hard to handle for even adults, let alone a young girl.
  • Luminescent Blush: Gives one as a reaction to Boruto's Declaration of Protection to her in Boruto the Movie.
  • Magical Eye: She inherited the Sharingan from her father which has the powers of Aura Vision, True Sight, Hypnotic Eyes, Power Copying and Combat Clairvoyance. By the time of her encounter with Kara she has evolved her Sharingan into 3 tomoe, and by the end of Part 1 she attains her Mangekyo Sharingan.
  • Magic Skirt: Despite being drawn from angles where her underwear or rather Modesty Shorts should be revealed, whenever she is jumping or fighting, her skirt stays down. Most of the time.
  • Male Gaze: Happens just in the manga, where she is drawn in sexualized poses from time to time. Her legs also receive special attention.
  • Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: Inverted. Chapter 1 of Naruto Gaiden shows us Sarada finding out about Karin. With Sakura unable to answer even basic questions about Sasuke and Shizune either unable or unwilling to answer any questions about Sarada's birth, she's naturally starting to second-guess her relation to Sakura. Despite the story teasing that she's not Sakura's daughter, she is proven to be Sakura's legitimate daughter in the end.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name does NOT mean 'salad'. Instead, her name is derived from Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, which is an insight to her intelligence.
  • Me's a Crowd: She copied Boruto's Shadow Clone jutsu with her Sharingan in the anime, but finds it too exhausting to use with her Sharingan.
  • Modesty Shorts: In the manga she wears a pair of pants under her skirt.
  • Morality Pet: She is the exception to her father's aloof and grim tendencies. Sasuke enjoys spending time with her and once went out of his way just to express his affection for her. Not everyone gets to be called "my cute little peanut" by someone as aloof and arrogant as Sasuke.
  • Mouthy Kid: It may not seem at first because Sarada is a considerate Nice Girl most of time; but she is not afraid to rebel or speak her mind and tell someone off when something disturbs her, no matter their position in life, though she is rather sardonic than cocky like Boruto. At only 11, she yelled to the freaking Hokage to just fuck off in Naruto Gaiden.
  • Ms. Fanservice:
    • The manga's illustrator tends to give Sarada a more sexualized character design and poses despite her young age, this is averted in the anime where she uses Masashi Kishimoto's more conservative design.
    • Her timeskip outfit, while more functional, it's still quite revealing. Her romper is quite short and reveals her chest completely.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Who even needs muscles when you can make craters in the ground and kill an opponent with a single punch?
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Doesn't get why everyone's so gung-ho about being a ninja, and she doesn't really care to be one either. After traveling with Naruto, she wants to become a great Hokage like him.
  • Nerd Glasses: Sarada wears thick rimmed glasses that give her a bookish look. In her introduction in the final chapter of Naruto her nerdy outfit and glasses helped hide her identity until her scene with her mother.
  • Nice Girl: Unlike both of her parents, Sarada has good manners in her childhood. She is not arrogant (unless you are someone she dislikes or a foe) nor Innocently Insensitive; instead, she is modest and treats her classmates nicely.
  • Not So Above It All: Because she wants to become Hokage one day, Sarada usually presents herself as someone mature and responsible in comparison with her more relaxed friends. But there are quite a few significant instances where she acts as childish or immature as her peers.
    • After a fight with Boruto on the Hokage's mountain, Boruto manages to trick her and starts to paint the Hokages' faces. Sarada just resumes to cutting his rope with a deadpan expression in her face. Boruto then uses Sexy No Jutsu on her, and her face goes red.
    • During the trip to the Hidden Village of the Mist, Sarada admits to Boruto that she nominated him as the trip leader to make him behaves himself so that she and the their peers can have a nice trip while showing a devilishly smile. Boruto outraged by this calls out the move as unworthy of a future Hokage, but Sarada giggles like a small innocent child at Boruto's reaction to which he responds by imitating Sarada's giggling and saying that it's not funny, then finishing with Boruto chasing her all over the deck, thus showing Sarada's quite childish side.
    • Then there is the fact that, she believed Karin is her real mother, not because of some physical resemblance, but because Karin wears glasses as well. For all her maturity, Sarada is still a kid with the judgement of a kid.
  • The Ojou: An interesting case. Sarada is the sole living scion as well as the heiress to the now nearly extinct but still very much prestigious Uchiha clan which is one of Konohagakure's four noble clans. She is a child version of a Proper Lady and has shades of being a Yamato Nadeshiko. While she does her chores on her own, the current Uchiha residence, both the one destroyed by Sakura and the one rebuilt afterwards, while not a Big Fancy House, is still quite large and spacious with a large yard and garden. She is treated normally by her friends and classmates though there are instances such as a throwaway comment by Chocho as her being stuck-up due to being an Uchiha in the Gaiden manga while Shikadai refers to her as 'Sarada-sama' once in the anime. Interestingly, it is her enemies who are treating her as being a naïve ojou more than her peers, notably Buntan Kurosuki.
  • Only Sane Man:
    • Sarada, who is usually a well-adjusted Deadpan Snarker, is surrounded by a quite crazy crowd. She has to put up with Mitsuki, his alien mindset and Dissonant Serenity reaction to everything, Boruto with his Bratty Half-Pint self and pranks in search of attention, or Chocho, her Best Friend Cloudcuckoolander who Thinks Like a Romance Novel. She often calls out Boruto on his less than stellar decisions, tries to bring Chocho back to reality all the time and is often taken off by Mitsuki's reaction or lack of reaction.
    • When Eida's Omnipotence took over the world, only her and Sumire remained completely unaffected by the world-wide memory wipe.
  • Parental Title Characterization:
    • Even though Sarada used to not know her father Sasuke well due to him being on a mission since she was a toddler, she always referred to him with the affectionate "Papa", and still does it in her teenagerhood. This only shows, that no matter how close or far away from each other they are, Sarada and Sasuke share a powerful, unbreakable father-daughter bond. Even other characters refer to Sasuke as "Papa" in her presence. Of course, Sarada is also a huge Daddy's Girl.
    • She also refers to her mother as "Mama".
  • Personality Powers: A fiery Tsundere with fire and lightning based-jutsus.
  • Pint Sized Power House: Sarada is a Badass Adorable girl, smaller than her opponents, but also stronger than most of them.
  • Playing with Fire: Sarada uses her clan's signature jutsu — Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu. As expected, Sasuke taught it to her.
  • Plucky Girl: Sarada is very driven when it comes to achieving her goals and inherited her parents' hate for losing a battle. A notable example is in her first fight with Deepa. She and her teammates lose the fight and ends up greatly injured. Does this makes her back off ? Nope, instead it pushes Sarada to train until she overcomes her weaknesses. In the second fight with Deepa, she awakens her second tomoe for this very reason.
Sarada: I'm not going to lose to you. I'm going to become the Hokage! I won't let things end here! [second tomoe awakens]
  • Power Copying: In stark contrast with other Sharingan users, Sarada uses this ability much more liberally than her predecessors, mimicking the Shadow Clone technique from Boruto and several Lightning Release techniques from Buntan.
  • The Power of Love: Sarada is immune to the Omnipotence and awakens her Mangekyou Sharingan because her feelings for Boruto are very strong. This is all Sasuke needs to believe his daughter that something is indeed not right after Eida modified everybody's memories through her Omnipotence Shinjutsu.
  • Protectorate: To Boruto. In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, Boruto states that he will support her dream to be Hokage and he will protect her no matter what.
  • Razor-Sharp Hand: Sarada can use Chidori at extreme precision.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Sarada's got her mother pale complex and Sasuke's dark hair that don't go unnoticed.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Inverted. Sarada's Blue Vortex outfit is very reminiscent of the Akatsuki uniforms, but she is as heroic as always and became Boruto's biggest support in the village post time skip.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The Sharingan turns her irises red. Naruto assumes she awakened them due to believing Sakura wasn't her birth mother.
  • Red Is Heroic: Wears red and she's the heroine for Naruto Gaiden; Sarada wears a red sleeveless qipao shirt.
  • The Rival:
    • To Boruto, just like their fathers were for each other. But unlike their respective parents in their youth, she and Boruto are on more friendly terms.
    • In a way, Konohamaru. After episode 24 of the anime, they compete to be the Eighth Hokage.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Sarada and Sumire repeat some of Sakura and Hinata contrasts.
    • While both are certified dutiful Nice Girls, Sarada is a Hot-Blooded brunette, who speaks freely her mind, even argues with the higher-ups and wants to become Hokage; Sumire instead is a former Anti Villainess with a demure disposition, who rarely argues with people, though she will express her disaccords.
    • There is a difference even in their fighting styles. Sarada is a Cute Bruiser with an affinity for fire and lighting releasing, while Sumire is a Lady of War with affinity for water jutsus.
    • Sarada dresses mainly in red and Sumire mostly in purple and blue.
    S-Y
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Flashes these on occasion, usually after witnessing one of Boruto's shenanigans.
  • Security Cling: She holds on to Naruto's jacket when Shins Sr and Jr attack the tower, looking terrified.
  • Ship Tease: She and Boruto have a bit going on throughout the series. It's heavily implied that she has a crush on him, and her teasing and frictions with him are born out of her wanting to keep him in check and out of trouble.
  • Shock and Awe: In the anime's Field Trip arc, it's revealed that some of the first jutsu she copied using her Sharingan, outside of Boruto's shadow clone jutsu, are lightning release jutsu from Buntan. Later on her father goes on to teach her how to do the Chidori as well.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift:
    • During Naruto Gaiden, Sarada changes her academy red dress, for a more action-oriented outfit which happens to be a combination of what her parents used to wear in their genin years. Her Iconic Outfit reflects that she is the daughter of both her parents, in a plotline where she is suffering from identity crisis because she doubts her own parentage.
    • During the time skip, Sarada cuts her hair even shorter and goes from looking bookish and girly to a more martial oriented outfit, replacing her red dress with a black romper with red stripes and a black jacket with reddish insides, very reminiscent of an Akatsuki cloak.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: Don't be fooled by her stylish bookworm persona. She is not afraid to take on mentally unhinged and bloodthirsty opponents to protect her loved ones.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: She wears a sleeveless qipao shirt, similar to what her mother Sakura wore in Part II.
  • Smug Smiler: Sarada inherited the typical Uchiha self-assured, mischievous smirk, but also the cocky attitude. Expect her to add some snarky remarks whenever she fights or everytime Boruto is around, just to piss him off.
  • The Smurfette Principle: With the official addition of Kawaki in Team 7, Sarada is part of a Five-Man Band. Good thing she was voted as their leader when Konohamaru is not around.
  • Snooping Little Kid: She follows Naruto intending to be led to her father, but Naruto was aware that she was trailing him.
  • Stalker with a Crush: She's shown stalking Boruto throughout the epilogue of the Naruto manga. It's made clear in the Boruto movie and novelization that she has a crush on him.
  • Stereotype Flip: Except for the trademark smirk, a sharp tongue and superior attitude toward a foe, Sarada exhibits very little of an Uchiha's worst traits. The Uchihas were known for being arrogant, entitled, mentally unhinged, proud Blood Knights, prone to suffer from the Curse Of Hatred, even when most of them were good hearted people. And the few who weren't like this, or not afflicted by the curse, were still Well Intentioned Extremists with tortured souls and a lot of emotional packages. It should also be noted, as was mentioned beforehand, that most of the Uchihas who expressed the afromentioned traits were all once well-meaning people (especially as kids) who went through many hardships and traumatic experiences that chipped away their prior optimism. Partly thanks to being raised in a more peaceful and happier environment, Sarada instead is well-mannered, stable emotionally AND mentally, diplomatic, friendly and hot-blooded.
    • Unlike her ancestors, not only that she doesn't despise anyone of Senju or Uzumaki descendant, but has possibly romantic feelings for one of them, Boruto Uzumaki.
    • Sarada is also the only Uchiha who ever awakened the Sharingan out of excitement and love, instead of the typical traumatic event.
    • The implications are that all the above has become possible thanks to Sasuke and Naruto's final battle breaking the thousand year Curse of Hatred that had bound the Uchiha clan, and thus also ending their ancestor Indra's influence.
  • Strong and Skilled: She is physically the most powerful of her generation, but also chunin-level skilled in different areas like leadership, ninjutsu, Nature Transformation and shurikenjustu.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks a lot like a female Sasuke, but her facial features and eye shape are very similar to Sakura's. Her personality is a mixture of theirs but with her own individuality added (notably gaining a positive goal in life much earlier than her parents did).
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Sarada comes across as very serious, cynical and snarky (reasonably so, given her dysfunctional family), but also friendly and compassionate.
  • Super-Reflexes: Not at first, but she starts to develop them, once she gains even more tomoe in her Sharingan. Her second tomoe allows her to anticipate and dodge attacks that she couldn't before.
  • Super-Strength: At an unspecified point in time, Sakura started to train Sarada in the art of refined chakra control. Like her mother, she was adept at this, which allows her to use chakra-enhanced strength to devastating effects. She was able to single-handedly defeat dozens of Shin clones with a single punch, decimating the area in the process.
  • Superior Successor: Zig-Zagged when it comes to her mother. Sarada is a full blown Action Girl and skilled combatant who can use Super Strength at a younger age than Sakura, whereas part 1 Sakura served more with her brains. On the other hand, Sakura always had perfect chakra control and resistance and became one of the best medical ninja in history, whereas Sarada's control is good enough for super strength but just plain not suited to the type of control needed for medical ninjutsu.
  • Superpowerful Genetics: Sarada inherited Sakura's Super Strength, most of the Uchiha's clan native jutsus and Sasuke's affinity for lightning release. Sakura is especially worried about the tragic consequences of this when it comes to Sarada's still developing Sharingan.
  • Supporting Leader: Sarada is the Deuteragonist and The Leader of Team 7, to Boruto's Hero Protagonist. Luckily, she is more active than most examples; Sarada doesn't just provides support while the hero gives the final hit, she takes a very active role in dealing with different matters, sometimes making Boruto her lancer.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: She felt like this during her academy days, often calling out everyone on their wackiness. Her main target seemed to be Boruto, whom she often called childish or idiot for his behavior. She also refuses to do anything that's under her dignity, despite secretly enjoying doing foolish things.
  • Tagalong Kid: After she follows Naruto out of the village and is attacked by Shin, he allows her to come along so that she can meet her father. He also feels she'd be safer with him than if he sent her back, now that she's being targeted.
  • Tears of Joy: When finally meeting her father, she cries with happiness. Upon receiving his Death Glare however, it turns into Tears of Fear.
  • Tell Me About My Father:
    • Invoked nearly word for word during the Gaiden chapter. She asks Sakura this, starting from whether he wore glasses to asking why she has never seen him. When she starts asking whether she is really her daughter, this angers Sakura, who punches the ground in the process. However, after seeing Sarada in tears, Sakura understands that she is simply starved for a father's affection so she tells her the importance of what he is doing, and assuring her that he will be back.
    • Naruto proves to be more forthcoming in this regard, though he's still glossing over Sasuke's past. The fact that Naruto does even that much leaves her immensely happy and driven to see him... until she says that he has trouble recognizing her.
  • To Be a Master: Sarada takes up Naruto's old standard at the end of Naruto Gaiden: To become Hokage.
  • Took a Level in Idealism: Naruto Gaiden starts with Sarada questioning why there are such things as ninjas in the first place and has little interest in it. By the end, her new goal is to become Hokage.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Sarada started the show with a bit a hostile personality and loner tendencies. After all of the family issues, she goes from sullen to smiling more often, showing a more childish side and her relationship with her parents and Boruto improves.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Sarada enjoys consuming food based on black tea flavours.
  • Trash Talk: Sarada can be very savage against her opponents. Best seen in her fight against Kirara.
Sarada: You said we are not pretty at all. But we humans are beautiful too, like never giving up, not being obedient... And things like the Sharingan. [[Sarada flexes her Sharingan with a smirk on her face]]
    Kirara: Shut up!

    [[Kirara gets crushed by rocks]]
Sarada: I guess even if you got all dressed up on the outside, It wasn't enough to make you pretty.
  • Trauma Conga Line: In short order, Sarada begins doubting Sakura is her real mother, finds evidence that is the case, but no-one will talk to her about it. She goes looking for her father, whom she's never met, and is attacked by a strange boy with a Sharingan. When she finally meets her father, he nearly kills her thinking she's an enemy and then coldly dismisses her questions. She then watches Sakura get abducted by the bad guys, then finds evidence that she's not even her real birth mother. When Naruto suggests they go save her mother, Sarada rounds on him with her Sharingan activated and snaps that Sakura isn't her mother and she has no reason to care about people who lied to her whole life. However, Naruto manages to calm her down and keep her from following in her father's footsteps. In the end, she learns that Sakura was her real mother after all, recovers, forms a better bond with her family, and becomes a happier person.
  • Traumatic Superpower Awakening: Averted. Unlike most Uchiha, who awaken their Sharingan through survival instinct, rage, or a traumatic experience, Sarada activates her Sharingan for the first time out of joy and excitement when she is finally going to meet her father. Naruto assumes she awakened them due to believing Sakura wasn't her birth mother.
    • Chapter 80 has Sarada awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan as a result of Eida's Omnipotence Shinjutsu changing Boruto and Kawaki's lives and hearing that Boruto has seemingly killed Naruto.
  • True Blue Femininity: During the Mujina Bandits Arc, Sarada had to disguise herself as a beginner journalist, wearing an elegant blue dress in the Proper Tights with a Skirt style, a white beret and a white-blue striped tie.
  • True Sight: Her Sharingan allows her to see through and break out of visual illusions.
  • Turn Out Like His Father: Naruto takes note of how much Sarada resembles Sasuke and jokes that it would become uncanny if she awakened the Sharingan. When he thinks she's done so after learning of her "true" parentage, he talks her down from unwittingly following in her father's footsteps by abandoning the village out of anger.
  • Tsundere: Sarada is the tsun-tsun type towards Boruto, as she easily gets annoyed by him, and they are shown constantly bickering. But at the same time it's shown that she actually enjoys teasing him and keeping him in check, further situations strongly imply that she has a crush on him.
Boruto: So, you do have a nice side, huh?
  • Variant Power Copying: During a sparring session with Sakura to improve her rather poor chakra control, Sarada uses her Sharingan to mimic Sakura's movements and general timing for chakra-enhanced strength to better her own, since Sakura's perfect control is not something the Sharingan can copy.
  • Verbal Tic: Liker her mother, Sarada tends to shout "Shannaro" whenever she is angry, excited or attacking someone, and like her father, she tends to "Haughty "Hmph"" a lot.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Due to not seeing her father in several years and seeing all her peers enjoying time with their fathers, Sarada has craved for her father's affection her entire life and was able to awaken her Sharingan due to her anticipation of meeting him.
  • When She Smiles: Despite being cynical and snarky, Sarada has shown to have very heartwarming and adorable smiles. This is another trait that her father didn't have at her age after the Uchiha Massacre.
  • White Sheep: A combination of growing up in an era of relative peace and not with her clan, which had a somewhat toxic environment before they were massacred, means that Sarada is quite easily the most well-adjusted Uchiha in the entire franchise (at least as far as major characters go). While she does have her own hardships and struggles, compared to what many of her relatives went through and ended up becoming as a result, it's relatively benign and surmountable.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Shows some characteristics of the prim-and-proper and polite variety and is a good cook. But personality wise, Sarada is a subversion, as she is too fiery, independent and snarky, and most important, she is very opinionated and has no problem opposing males or figures of authority when she has something to say.
  • You Remind Me of X: During Sarada's quest to meet her father, Naruto comforts her by telling her that "when he[I] saw her[you] back there, Sarada[you] reminded Naruto[me] so much of Sasuke when they[we] were kids".
