openHow to make these not be ZCE
So these trope examples on the Miserable page keep getting commented out for apparently being zero context examples, and I am trying to fix that. But I figured I could use some help in that regard since nothing I seem to do seems to get them out of that category.
The first one is Ode to Intoxication and is, at the moment, written as follows:
"* Ode to Intoxication: The band's singer has stated that, if not interpreted as an anti-love song, it could also be about addiction."
With that one, I'm not sure what about it is zero context, as I feel that overall, especially when combined with being on the song/videos' page, it has plenty of context.
The other one I feel is a bit more understandable on the ZCE front, but I still feel that With everything else mentioned on the page, the context is clear enough:
"* Rule of Sexy: Pamela Anderson struts around in little more than a white bikini? Why not? Is a huge part of the video's overall concept."
How can I fix these so that they are no longer ZCE?
open No Title
Characters.Meme House needs a revert to before TheBilliantOne's most recent edit; I think people were editing the page at the same time and as a result it overlapped and put YMMV items back on the character page. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Characters.MemeHouse
Edited by lalalei2001open Is there a trope for this?
I was wondering if there was a trope for a character who made some sort of mistake and now has to live with it forever. It's a silly or cute mistake, though, and bringing it up will just cause the person it happened to embarrassment, but all of the other characters bring it up A LOT. It's the go-to for all "Well, at least I'm not the one who..." moments.
Is there a trope for this? I can give examples if my explanation didn't describe it well enough. Thank you.
open No humans
Could would have a trope that pertains to a work having absolutely no humans in it? Like no humans in the past present or future and especially no token human?
I mean some games like Ratchet and Clank have no humans at all in them and I was thinking it'd be good to take note of that.
I think it'd be good to take note of because it's rare people don't have humans in their stories. I mean anthropomorphic/furry/petting zoo people often have no humans but it's rare alien space opera stuff (such as Ratchet and Clank) doesn't.
People relate to humans which is one big reason they're usually in there. Few people take on the challenge of having no humans just other species in their stories. Whether those species are humanoid or not the author tries to make them work storywise.
Some authors may think it'd be cool to just make a story without humans or that humans would even ruin it.
So I was wondering if it would even be worth going to trope launcher to try and make this trope a reality.
openBroken link
VisualNovel/Adastra shows up as Visual Novel/Adastra for some reason. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VisualNovel/Adastra
EDIT:Also the custom title of the page is Ad Astra, but it appears to actually be spelled Adastra.
Edited by pikachu17openQuotes
On the character pages of One Piece, there are some disagreement wherever the quotes should reference the chapter in which they're said, I personally think they're unnecessary and possibly spoilery if they reference an important character moment, what do you think?
openSinkhole thread
Is there a thread for getting help on cleaning up Sinkholes when you think you saw one but aren't sure?
openMeme Evaluation Anime
I removed some memes on the YMMV page for The Rising Of The Shield Hero because they were not really memes from the series and didn't fit, only for Jim2tolive to re-add them and then message me about it saying my removal was not justified. I asked for some evidence of these memes and they ignored it. Do these seem to truly fit?
- Something's rising and it isn't the Shield Hero.note Once the preview of episode 3 came out, this is nearly the universal reaction. Becomes full blown when the beach episode came out.
- Sarapthalia note Related to the one above. This is a pun of Sarap, which is a Philippine word of Delicious and Rapthalia
openBringing back examples
How do I argue for bringing back RL examples for a trope?
Edited by BlueXIIIopenProblematic entry
the following entry on Funny. The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild rubs me the wrong way:
- In fact, getting the Gerudo clothes to sneak into town is hilarious in itself. For starters, the "Vai" is clearly actually a voe, but Link goes along with it for the sake of the mission. When Link is given the rather revealing outfit, he at first looks embarrassed, but after the "Vai" gives him a few compliments, he looks bashful but pleased... And then the wind blows off the "Vai"'s mask, revealing their true face, resulting in a Face Palm from Link.
note that Vai translates as woman and Voe translates as man.
this entry comes off as extremely transphobic to me. the person in question expresses exclusively as female and is never seen expressing any masculine traits. it's noted on the YMMV page that the whole sequence is controversial because of its questionable portrayal of a possibly trans individual. people can find whatever they want funny, of course; it's not like you can choose what you laugh at. but the way this is worded implies that because the person wasn't assigned female at birth, they aren't female. this strikes me as a very mean-spirited jab at non-passing trans people, and i know the wiki is better than that.
openEditor with grammar problems
(Here we go again.) Jim2tolive has been editing for a few years, but they have chronic grammar and punctuation issues. I've sent them a notifier (and another for zero-context examples) but wondered if more action might be needed.
openNever Live it Down
YMMV.Hell In A Cell has an example of the recent PPV of the poorly received main event. Dont we wait for 25 years for real life events?
openVoltron Legendary Defender Vandal Deletions Western Animation
Opal 1249 edited Voltron: Legendary Defender - Team Voltron again to get rid of references to Shiro's epilogue and the fact that he plays a platonic/brotherlike role to Keith. They may or may not be a sockpuppet of axwi07 who got in trouble for doing the same exact thing, and opal1249's edit history indicates they're a new account that only cropped up a few months after axwi07 got suspended.
Looking at their other two edits, while one of them is clearly biased in favor of Shiro/Keith shippers, the entry was a little flamebait so I'm not opposed to deleting it. The other one I haven't seen enough from Ranma to judge.
EDIT: After another editor reverted their vandalism they re-deleted the entries. It's an edit war.
Edited by AlleyOopopenCry For The Devil
Cinder Fall from Web Animation/RWBY recently had her Cry For The Devil entry on the YMMV section deleted simply because of the fact that the CM thread deemed her a Complete Monster. I barely watch RWBY, but CFTD is an audience reaction. Aa long as there is a sizable portion of the fanbase (or hatedome) that feels a certain way about anything at all, and the entry doesn't lie, they can put any audiance reaction anywhere they want. That's how audiance reaction tropes work. They can only be cut if they are lying or there isn't a sizable enough group of people who feel a certain way. There has in fact been an outcry of sympathy for Cinder in spite of her attrocious actions. I really don't care about her, but I'm effing sick of YMMV tropes being cut after all the hard work people put through in writing the entries to express their honest opinions. For audiance reactions, that is not allowed at all unless their lying as far as I know. CM or not, if a portion of the fandom wants to feel sorry for her, they have the right to, and the Complete Monster Cleanup Thread has no right to delete their listing of her as CFTD. It's not like Jerkass Woobie where requirements need to be met, people can do anything they want with audiance reactions, they could do stupid things and apply it to characters like Freddy Krueger if they wanted to. I am here asking for your opinions and permission to restore it.
openThe Mall
Do you think the description for The Mall kinda sounds America-centric? Seems malls in America are dying due to online shopping, but I'm from Asia, and malls in Asia are actually thriving, with my country having one of the biggest malls.
Could there be a gathering of data about malls outside of North America before the description needs to be rewritten?
openRedundant subpages
I found Heartwarming. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic S 2 E 17 Hearts And Hooves Day, which also has its own Funny, Fridge, and Awesome pages. I believe we've established individual episodes don't get such pages, they go under the series main pages.
I'm gonna cut them, moving what's worth moving, unless I hear any objections.
openTroper with poor grammar
Stardust 120 consistently makes grammatical errors in their edits. I noticed this when they edited The Promised Neverland on September 27, and sent them a notifier, but their grammar hasn't improved much since then.
Example edit from yesterday (from The Rules of Love):
- Crossdresser: After Yang Luo Tian transform into a woman, she has to dressed like a man since she doesn't want people from her old collage and keep her identity a secret.
openEdit War on Overshadowed by Controversy/Video Games
That recent query I opened up about those statements of Markus "Notch" Perrson that got reverted? Well, Cavery210 just added them back in, so now they're starting an Edit War.

I would love to add videos, but I can never seem to actually download them so that they can be uploaded. It's a heck of a lot harder than images. I own a Chrome Book. Please help.
