openCreating a page for multiple artists Music
Hi. I'd like to trope circles that make fanmade Touhou music, but there are a bunch of circles I don't have a lot to say about. Is it okay if I create a page titled Music.Touhou Fanmade Arrangements and make it similar to the BEMANI page?
openMLPFIM Season 9 Fridge Horror Western Animation
Didn't know if I should ask this on the forum or here. Spoiler warning as this involves a plot twist for season 9 of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
Given that "Grogar" turned out to be a fake, should the following Fridge Horror entries about him be cut:
- Grogar is powerful enough to make Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow, all top tier season-ender villains themselves, AFRAID... and he's NOT at full power yet!
- Considering how powerful Grogar is without his bell, the villain trio deciding to betray him by stealing the bell for themselves might be the only reason why Equestria isn't flattened to the ground.
- Instead of giving Grogar his bell, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy lie to him and claim they were unable to retrieve it. Grogar seems furious at this, but he has shown in the past to be able to view previous events. What if he finds out about their lie later, or already knows about it and has plans to deal with his traitors later?
- Grogar makes it very clear that, even in his weakened state, he has far more power than the three of them combined. With the bell still there as far as he knows, what's stopping him from trying to go get it himself now that the others have at least learned to cooperate, only to find it missing?
- With the amount of power Grogar would have gained upon getting his Bewitching Bell back, who's to say he wouldn't have decided he doesn't need the others anymore? Even if he had other plans for them initially, he's far more likely to decide that should he learn of their betrayal.
openCan you request help, on a page? Web Original
This might come off as a bit dickish, but if you're the only one working on a page, is there a way to ask for help on it? Maybe make like a small add for other tropers, to possibly take a look and well with adding tropes and the like?
openChris Benoit YMMV
There are tropes on Benoit's YMMV related to his murder-suicide. Now I don't know how tropes work for wrestlers (apparently, they are considered a character) but I feel like tropes relating to that really do not belong here (Nightmare Fuel for something real, really)? Besides "Overshadowed by Controversy", I think most tropes really should go.
openImage reverting
If a page image is unilaterally replaced with a completely different picture, is it okay to revert back to the original image without asking permission?
open1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die
Literature. One Thousand And One Movies You Must See Before You Die was recently cut, the reason given being that "it's basically just a list of works without any commentary or anything otherwise tropable". There is precedent for such lists (AFIS 100 Years 100 Movies, BFI Top 100 British Films, The Criterion Collection, Empire The 500 Greatest Movies Of All Time, Time All Time 100 Movies, and Roger Ebert Great Movies List), and moreover I disagree that there is nothing tropable.
For those not familiar with 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, it is a book released annually since 2003 containing a list of 1001 movies with each entry accompanied by a short essay. It is a very popular list, both on this website and elsewhere. There is a List Challenge with over 50 000 users, a wiki, a subreddit, innumerable IMDb lists, and a bunch of other places online, all dedicated to the list and watching all the movies on it. The list here on TV Tropes had over 1800 inbound links.
As for tropability, the book itself is a Door Stopper at 960 pages, the title is Exactly What It Says on the Tin, the selection of entries is subject to Cultural Translation (a certain number of entries are replaced with local entries in the translated editions), and the essays contain tropes (for instance, the essay for In the Realm of the Senses says that It's Not Porn, It's Art). There is already a YMMV.One Thousand And One Movies You Must See Before You Die page, and as noted above the book is subject to The Wiki Rule.
With all this in mind, I think the article should be restored. Being one of the people who aims to see all the films on the list, I personally found the list with links to all the films very helpful for navigation, and I suspect I'm not the only one. Adding a list of tropes pertaining to the list is not a tall order, it's just that nobody had done so.
openLivestream popup?
Lately, I've been seeing a popup of a livestream on the side, just above the box with ATT, Trope Finder, etc. Is there a way to keep it off? It's getting in the way of going to the aforementioned areas.
openWhy was Ear worm made in-universe only? Music
So, I just became aware of this and I am curious why? I'm guessing too many examples otherwise?
open Old cartoon Film
Hi everyone! I'm looking for a very old cartoon I remember from my childhood. (One part picture, not a series). It must be over 30 years old. (VHS old ;)) There were three dogs that lost their owner. I think he was a homeless guy (I remember the bottle lying next to his body). The dogs than go seperate ways. I remember it beeing very sad. I think one of the dogs was female. That's all I remember.

What's the difference between Awesome, but Impractical and Power-Up Letdown?
On the Laconic entry, they seem to be very similar.
Edited by lenne18openMaking a minor edit to a work description?
Excerpt from the description for The Trail to Oregon!:
"The result of combining a beloved computer game and one of the funniest acting groups around, The Trail to Oregon is Team StarKid's ninth stage production."
For clarity's sake, I think the link to Team Starkid should be under the "Team Starkid" part, instead of the "one of the funniest acting groups around" part, and would like to move it.
However, I remember hearing that edits to page descriptions require permission, so I'd like to make sure that I'm going through the proper channels.
Edited by rachiebirdopenMoving a section of a page into its own work page
Do I have to get permission to move a section of a work page into its own? I'd like to move the "Tyler, the Creator" section of OFWGKTA into its own page, but it's currently a redirect.
openHelp on a YMMV page
The YMMV page for Watchmen here is suffering from a lot of disagreeing Tropers. I don't watch the show, but it apparently tackles the subject of racism and specifically focuses on the Tulsa Race Riots. Unsurprisingly, tropers are split about how well the topics are handled. S
Daedalus Ex added a Narm entry for the quote "I'e got a nose for racism, and it smells like bleach." Titan Fire Flies added an entry for Don't Shoot the Message. Annoyed Owl added this entry:
- Misaimed Fandom: The entire reason this series was made as stated by the creator was to show how Racism is Bad. Que most of the positive reviews for this series having someone state how this series reminds them why they hate white people.
All of these were deleted by Hello 9876. Titan Fire Flies re-added them with the reason "If these are actual reactions people have had to the show, then they have every right to be on the YMMV page."
friscokid182 deleted the entry for Misaimed Fandom with the edit reason "In addition to being unnecessarily Flame Bait, this entry is a misapplication of Misaimed Fandom. 1) Misaimed Fandom is for instances when audiences enjoy a work (or character) for reasons that the creators didn't intend, not for instances where fans express their love of a work through problematic statements. 2) It's a bit of an overgeneralization to say that all (or even most) positive reviews of this show praise it for making white people look bad; it would be more accurate to say that they praise it for starkly showing the harsh realities of institutionalized racism and racial violence, which is largely perpetrated by white people." They also deleted the Don't Shoot the Message entry with the reason "Mild Artistic License doesn't make the show's anti-racist message less convincing. Even if the show's depiction of the Tulsa Race Riot slightly exaggerates what really happened, the real riot still killed hundreds of people and completely destroyed one of the largest African-American communities in the United States; it's been called the "the single worst incident of racial violence in American history" for a reason. The show captures the truth of what happened pretty well, even if the '''facts aren't identical."
Hello 9876 again deleted the Narm entry. Daedalus Ex re-added Misaimed Fandom with the reason "Perhaps saying "most" is inaccurate, but to simply delete this because of a one word discrepancy when it is still very much relevant is not the proper reaction." They also added an entry for Critical Dissonance, which Hello 9876 deleted because the ratings were caused by review bombings—Hello 9876 then deleted Misaimed Fandom again with the reason "No one is saying this."
So basically the entire page is caught up in one giant edit war and I'm wondering if mods can do anything about this?
Edited by iamconstantineopen Sock
Don326 has been adding and removing their own unapproved Complete Monster entries from various YMMV pages.
I suspect that this could be a Fan727 sock.
I think that this matter should be investigated to ensure they don't cause any significant damage.
openAngry Video Game Nerd as a real life example
An Angry Video Game Nerd entry is listed in Caustic Critic under the "Real Life examples" header. But as far as I know, he is a character, not how the actor actually lives in real life.
open Question about an obscure DC Character Print Comic
I was reading information pertaining to Grant Morrison recently and it was referencing all the forms he has taken in various comics written by both himself and others. I unexpectedly had the topic come up again today in a conversation and was looking up a piece of information I had noticed. There was reference to (if I remember correctly) a Silver Age DC Comics time traveler that looked like Grant Morrison in his signature look years before he had adopted it. This isn't the Invisibles or anything since it wasn't by Morrison. It was just a weird coincidence someone was noting. Now, I know most time travelling characters across various publishers and I just can't place who this might actually be. It was either someone stretching what they thought or something I just haven't found through any cursory searching. I have a set of links from the day I saw that but I'll dig through all of it to find the answer. Was just seeing if there was a more expedient way of digging this up however. Now, is there anyone who might have any idea what I may be talking about?
Can you guys find a way to get people called luckyguys.top to stop trying to give a “gift” to me and several others as a “reward”.
