openYMMV subheadings
I noticed this example while looking at pages in recent edit reasons. On YMMV.Mister Rogers Neighborhood, there's a section of tropes that says "Didn't contain, but was still related to examples of:". If they're not from the work itself, should it be removed?
Edited by costanton11openHow do I get notified (like with emails) about the pages I watch?
I really want to keep a close eye on pages that have a bad habit of causing trouble, but all I see is a way of pinning the page.
openAnyone against making a Youtubers Index without going through TLP?
Anyone against making a Youtubers Index without going through TLP?
I was cleaning out YouTubers, and thought about making such an index.
I could do it on TLP, but it's slow... I could just rip and clean out the list from Website. You Tube, and put it to the Locked Pages thread...
Edited by MaladyopenTrivia.Arcaea Videogame
Apparently the page got nuked because the only examples were weblink-only examples. However, I wish to add examples that aren't weblinks. Is it ok to start the page again?
- Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": The CHUNITHM collaboration marks the first time that songs original to that game are available outside of Japan.
openShipping and YMMV
TearJerker. The Rise Of Skywalker has one example going into further detail by saying it's devastating to [X] shippers.
Is that kind of justification allowed, even given the subjective nature of YMMV, because I feel it leads to the exact same scene being listed on an Awesome page written in a "suck it, [X] shippers!" tone.
openPac-Man Fever or Retraux? Literature
The Literature.Press Start children's books are about a fictional video game series that's pretty heavily steeped in 80's tropes— 8-bit pixel art, Save the Princess plots, and retro-style systems. It was originally under Pac Man Fever, but after reading the books all of that felt more deliberately retro than PMF's requirement of being shallow (especially since as the series went on the plots became a bit more complex and many characters are recurring), so I put it under Retraux. PrincessPandaTrope then deleted Retraux and put it back under Pac Man Fever with a "Still." edit reason.
Can anyone help settle this?

Is it safe to restart a YMMV page for Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars?
openCharacter Criticism / Negativity on a Trope Page
The Deconstructed Character Archetype page has an entry for Doki Doki Literature Club!. I haven't read it and so don't have any personal opinions on either it or any of its characters. There's a troper who clearly does, though, and added "The Protagonist can't be blamed fornit because he didn't know. She's a dumb bitch for hiding it." to the end of a subentry. (The subentry only mentions the protagonist in passing. I think the troper was concerned that the subentry mentioning that the protagonist "berates" the character being discussed might make the protagonist look bad.)
I removed the addition with an explanation that Conversation in the Main Page is discouraged and that complaints/reviews should be avoided in examples. The troper didn't re-add it, but they did change the phrase "spacey demeanor" to "idiocy," which sounds like they really want to show their dislike for the character. It's not as much Flame Bait as the previous edit, but given that the subentry discusses how that character appears to be suffering from depression and that fandoms are often sensitive about that in my experience, I'm worried that could still be inflammatory. But I'm also worried about engaging in an Edit War myself by changing it back with Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment.
openLying Creator issue
Trivia.Pokemon Sword And Shield
- Lying Creator:
- Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori's stated reasons for the National Dex cut was that they were trying to give individual Pokemon "higher fidelity with higher quality animations", and Ohmori claimed that they needed to remake the Pokémon models from scratch due to issues with importing them. As the games neared release, numerous leaks and eventual datamines showed that no, the models and animations of returning Pokémon, barring a few exceptions and several tweaks, were indeed reused from the 3DS games. The revelation would see #GameFreakLied trending on Twitter. Around the time of the game's release, a member of Game Freak posted a disclaimer online stating that they were indeed reusing the old models.
The last link that “proves” this actually argues against it saying it wasn’t a lie but miscommunication/translation. And we’ve previously decided the proof for the reused models is suspect and blog are insufficiently reputable sources for such.
I’m re-cutting linking to this unless I hear any objections. Anything else to do? (Move the last article to God Never Said That?)
openAlphabetizing ye
"Ye" is an old-timey spelling of "the" and pronounced as such. So "Ye gods" goes under G, right?
openUpdated names from official translation Anime
So, the Funimation subtitles for One Piece used to use the term "Beasts Pirates" for Kaido's pirate crew. The VIZ manga calls them the "Animal Kingdom Pirates". This lead to two conflicting official translations: manga and anime. All related pages on this site went with Funimation's version, since people liked it more.
However, as of episode 912 of the anime, the Funimation subtitles used "Animal Kingdom Pirates". It's likely that they updated the terminology for the sake of parity between both official translations.
In this case, would it be appropriate to change all uses of "Beasts Pirates" to "Animal Kingdom Pirates" now?
Edited by DeeeFooopenAbout Quotes.WhamLine
A while back I removed a sinkhole to And I Must Scream from one of the quotes on Quotes.Wham Line, on account of the fact that the phrase in question isn't an example of that trope. Admittedly, I didn't actually say this in my edit reason, which is probably why pidget_spinner felt free to put it back without discussion.
... ... Tangentially related, do we even need a Quotes/ subpage for Wham Line? That seems kinda redundant. Maybe if the quotes were about wham lines, I could see it, but everything currently on that page is just a wham line that easily could be put on the examples page.
openAnimal Superheros or Animal Themed Superbeing?
If a Humanity Ensues animal decides to become a superhero, does it count as an Animal Superhero or an Animal-Themed Superbeing?
openAbout "They Copied It, So It Sucks!"
Where should the YMMV trope They Copied It, So It Sucks! go to since it involves at least 2 works? Is it listed on the work copying a trend? Or is it listed on the work being copied? Or both?
openRule on retroactive bombing?
Somebody bombed Briefs Boasting after it was launched, knocking it down to four net hats. What should I do? The launching was fair, but somehow became retroactively... not.
openHow to Suggest New Media
There is this visual novel that I'd like to add to the site called "Love Triangle Trouble," or "Suki to Suki to de Sankaku Ren'ai." Playing through the visual novel, a few of the tropes that I've noticed it having are:
1.) Love Triangle: As the title of the visual novel suggests you actually have the option of going in two love triangles, one with Sousuke's (the protagonist that you're playing as) biological sister Suzu and his step sister Nanatsu, and the second one is with Sousuke's childhood Maho and Shiina, the eroge-obsessed senpai.
2.) Sibling Triangle: The triangle between Sousuke, Suzy and Nanaru.
3.) Childhood Friend Romance (if you decide to go down Maho's route)
4.) Making Love in all the Wrong Places: Every route has this.
5.) Multiple Endings
For more details, here's the link to the VNDB page on it: https://vndb.org/v19444
The point to all of this is that I would like to have this media added, but don't know how to.
Edited by JGamerIopenPeculiar edits on words Anime
This troper, lugia1, has been making edits on Pokémon, in which they replace the é with a regular e. It might not seem as much as a big deal, but I'm reporting this out of consideration for those that are strict about formatting. This goes from both the Pokémon section and To Be a (Miraculous) Master.
Here's a link to their edit history: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=lugia1
On top of that, I looked further into their history as they also been removing Trope links on words and took apart Trope Name (added spaces to turn them into regular words) for no reason.
Edited by SeptimusHeapopenOne Word Title-Zero Content Live Action TV
Here's a weird question. So I noticed that on the Friends tropes K to O, One-Word Title is a zero content entry. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Friends/TropesKToO However on the main page of One-Word Title where it gives use a handy guide on how to give actual content to entries, it uses Friends as an example. So I was wondering could I use that example for the One-Word Title entry on the Friends K to O page or would that be cheating? Also the entirety of the One-Word Title page is nothing but zero content is there a cleanup thread?
