Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

openThis could be added to most fan games.
YMMV/Oolite has the following example.
- Fanon: A rare subversion in that, since the majority of the game's content is made by fans, Fanon and Canon are essentially one and the same.
Wouldn't this apply to pretty much every fan game? At the very least it's not a rare subversion, and I think it's pretty much implicit in fan made content. Also, can Fanon be subverted in the first place?
Edited by pikachu17openAggressive edits on Destiny 2 Videogame
Ano Baka Desu left aggressive edit reasons, one in regards to āshoehorningā and another simply titled āNo.ā when removing some canon moments that happened. Not a fantastic edit reason, Iād say.
openDeceased creators?
Cameron Boyce sadly passed away recently, rest in peace, and I was wondering if we could set up an index for deceased creators out of respect so we can let people know who have passed.
Edited by ravioliluigiopenTroper with indentation issues
Rabbitear has indentation problems, even after a notifier was sent.
Here's the most recent violation I could find: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=WebVideo.Dollightful#edit23287390
openExtremely bad english from a troper
The troper Megazord has some extremely bad english as shown by their edits.
Their edit to ymmv. Star Trek Voyager is incomprehensible for an example.
Edited by miraculousopenBadly-written analysis page?
Analysis. The Jetsons seems too short and grammatically incorrect.
openBad Formatting
Series. The Leftovers is Formatting like a Recap page with each season folder housing episodes and putting tropes in them. There is also a general folder.
openexample deletion thread
Is there a thread for deleting all examples on a page, and not just real life?
openYMMV / Sony Pictures Animation cut.
I see that we have deleted many YMMV pages for Creators as it's against policy to have them, so should YMMV.Sony Pictures Animation be cut, since it primarily exists to voice complaints?
openPage images leading to red link work pages
I have wondered about it for some time, but this is the time that I to ask it.
Is it allowed to link a page image to a work page that doesn't exist? An example is on Contractual Purity, whose page image about Britney Spears, leads to the Fashion Magazine Elle, which has no page.
openProblematic entry about new Spider-Man movie
This entry on YMMV.Spider Man Far From Home, by Revolutionary_Jack, reads less like an example of the trope and more complaining that MCU Spidey isn't like the comics. What should be done? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=Revolutionary_Jack
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Jonah's appearance at the end is welcome as is him outing Peter's identity but many felt that the sequence didn't have the weight it should have had given the fact that the MCU Peter's ridiculously inept at keeping his identity a secret and the fact that his entire supporting cast (May, Ned, MJ), one of his villains (Vulture) and the wider superhero community (who he always interacts with by giving his name and showing his face to) know who he is. Likewise, Jameson outs the identity before knowing or interacting with Peter which means the personal dynamic and element (namely Jameson feeling a level of personal betrayal over one of his employees putting one over him) isn't there, and it comes across as Jameson outing some random noob hero's identity and not Spider-Man, the hero he has been obsessed with since ASM #1.
openMulan 2020: Safe to Recreate? Film
The page for the 2020 Mulan live-action remake is currently a redlink for not having a trailer/tropeable material. With today's release of the first proper trailer and poster, do we think it's safe to recreate or not yet?
openCreating an informative work page
Hi,
I would like to create an informative work page. However, it seems impossible to access a black page. Is there a way I could create this page for informative purposes?
Cheers Chris
openPercussive Therapy or too speculative? Videogame
I've been editing the Cadence of Hyrule Character page and came to a bit of a standstill on adding a trope. I want to add Percussive Therapy under Octavo's section based on an NPC quote but not sure if it's enough since it can be interpreted in more than one way.
The context is that he's a Well-Intentioned Extremist trying to get rid of Ganon due to a prophecy foretelling his demise, and the castle's guards (who are trapped inside the castle against their will since he sealed it off) keep their distance from him.
The quote implies that either he's a Bad Boss who flings fireballs at the guards, or someone who's stressed out/angry and flinging fireballs everywhere. The latter is my assumption but... you be the judge:
Quote from Guard NPC: I occasionally see flickers of light when I'm in the entrance hall, where you came from. If it's Octavo flinging his fireballs around again, count me out.
Is it enough to count or...too vague even with context?
Edited by INeveropenMildly Military
Can Mildly Military apply to organizations that aren't militaries? Like how the Straw Hats in One Piece don't really observe much of a hierarchy and question their captain regularly? Wanted to add an example for Blood Man Luffy since of the expanded crew, only Gin and Alvida strictly follow the crew hierarchy and call out others for questioning Luffy.
open What's the name of this trope
The "well, if you didn't you do it and I didn't do it..then who did?" you often come across in horror movies and Halloween episodes of television shows. What is that called?
openHow do I create a Page for a film Film
Hi I want to create a page for the Movie Hester Street, but from reading the information I just don't understand it could someone please simply the information I'm too confused
openSuspicious Example on Quotes / Insult Backfire
Troper nm3youtube added a very suspicious example on the Quotes.Insult Backfire page. The following example reads...
Does this fall under Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment? The very content the example says looks very controversial.
Courtesy link here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Quotes.InsultBackfire
On the When Things Spin, Science Happens page, the video "A spinning laser starts up" does not have a media source. Is this allowed? I do not know what is required in a video, but every other video I've seen has had a media source, so I thought I would ask.
