Deranged X-Mas Figure

It was an age of heroes. For decades, Superheroes protected the world, leading through example and standing for something other than themselves. With these new myths and icons opening the door, the world was able to put the past behind it and move on to greener pastures. What was once thought of as science fiction or fantasy became reality. Space travel was a fact of life. New races both native to Earth and from afar were popping out of the woodwork and establishing relations with humanity almost daily. All while their heroes continued to keep the peace. It was like paradise, and almost seemed too good to be true.

But perhaps it was. Ever since the world's greatest hero The Saint was murdered three years ago, the peace that he and the other heroes had helped to establish had been ripped off like a bandaid. Prohuman purists and radical nonhuman organizations popped out of the woodwork, and the events of the last year have only made things worse. The destruction of Supercity led to a renewed assault against nonhumans and superhumans alike, calling for their heads as they looked for someone to blame.

If that weren't enough, the son of Leon Leopold, the Saint's greatest archenemy popped out of the woodwork as the heir apparent, taking over his late father's fortune and using it to fuel the rebuilding of Super City as well as a highly publicized Presidential campaign. So far it hasn't been clear what he plans to base his campaign around, but if he's anything like his father, it probably isn't anything pleasant.

But life goes on. The Protectors and the Foundation still do their best to protect and serve, even if the public becomes increasingly more hostile to them by the day. But with the general population becoming ever more dissatisfied with such large public groups, something needed to give. In the wake of Supercity's destruction, those most involved in the events that followed decided that the Protectors and Foundation weren't enough. That what was needed was something new. A group that could work in the shadows, beneath the surface and out of the public eye. That could tackle the problems that others couldn't handle. In the year that followed, others answered the call, joining their ranks as they prepared themselves for what was to come.

Here's hoping they survive the experience.

Hi, everyone! In case you haven't guessed, this is a Superhero RP. The gist is that you're a member of a brand new superteam looking to make their mark on the world, though it won't be easy. The last few years haven't been kind to anyone with a cape, or anyone that isn't human. If you want to make it through unscathed, you'll have to deal with the current state of affairs almost as much as beating up whatever's in your way. As well as anyone who wants to take advantage of it.

Of course, the RP's open to heroes of all sorts. First you've got those who received their powers in some sort of accident or experiment. These are some of the most common types of heroes around. Next up you have those who were born with their powers. These can come with some sort of physical mutation such as Petting Zoo People, green skin, four arms, etc. Assuming they aren't another race altogether. The sky's the limit. Then there are those who rely on their tech for their powers. You might have someone who wears a suit of Powered Armor, or you could have someone who invented a belt that makes them shrink. Again, go nuts. And finally, there are those without any powers or major tech at all who manage to make up for it with sheer grit and gumption as well as lots and lots of training. (Think Batman.) With that out of the way...

CHARACTER CREATION SHEET
  1. Real Name:
  2. Superhero Name:
  3. Age:
  4. Appearance: A costume is prefered, though not a requirement.
  5. Personality:
  6. Powers: Self-explanatory. That said, try and keep your character from being too overpowered. Anyone with Superman level abilities is a no-no. This also includes time-travel abilities. Healing abilities are allowed, but can only be used after a fight for the sake of balance. Teleporting abilities are also frowned upon, though you can still have them. Just try and have some sort of limitation to keep them from being too OP.
  7. Gear: Also self-explanatory. This can include various equipment or whatnot that gives you your powers as well just any weapons or gadgets you have to assist you, like a Batarang or grappling hook. Both tech heroes and Badass Normals will want to make use of this.
  8. Backstory:
  9. Miscellaneous: Anything you can think of that doesn't fit into any of the other categories.

Also, PC's are limited to two per player. Just an FYI.

Here's the discussion thread. It's very recommended that you at least read the first few posts up to the Timeline if only to get an idea of what kind of world this RP takes place in. Right now it's a bit outdated, but most of it should still apply.

Here's a link to the Discord. If you get accepted, it's very recommended to join. Makes things a lot easier.

  • Real Name: Nariko "Nari" Hattori
  • Superhero Name: Night-Tail
  • Age: 21
  • Appearance:
    • Civilian: A rat-woman with whitish-gray fur and red eyes. Long-legged, and lithe. Her legs end in large, clawed, pink feet, and her hands, nose and tail are pink as well. Her tail is long and cordlike. Her hair is thick, curly, the same color as her fur, and she keeps it cut short.
    • Hero: Her hero outfit is dark blue, almost black, meant to invoke a 'ninja' aethestic. She wears long pants, and a sports bra under a mesh shirt. She wears light armor panels over her shins and arms, armored bands on her tail, and she wears a mask that covers her snout from the eyes down.
  • Personality: Calm and collected, Nari is not a person of intense emotion. She takes pride in her physical prowess and enjoys acrobatics, yoga and fighting, though she's not prone to violence. She's sharply focused and not easily deceived, a trained warrior at heart. When not physically engaged, she's laid back, and can at times even show a dry wit. She is willing to oppose corrupt authority, and to kill if it proves absolutely necessary, though she tries to avoid doing so.
  • Powers:
    • Nezumi: Being beastfolk, Nari is naturally slightly superhuman. Stronger and tougher than a grown man, able to leap great distances, and outrun most normal humans even without her powers. As a rat specifically, she has enhanced smell, night vision, a minor vibration-sense via her whiskers, and can walk on walls and ceilings as easily as the ground. Her tail acts like a third, longer arm, albeit lacking some dexterity due to having no fingers. Finally, she has a bite many times stronger than a humans, able to gnaw through steel within seconds.
    • In One Breath: Nari's unique power is greatly superhuman agility. She can move so quickly she appears to teleport, and can leave afterimages behind from sheer speed.
    • Vibing: A trick Nariko discovered with her superspeed. She can 'vibrate' at high speed, moving either parts of her body or her entire body at once. Her primary usage of this ability is increasing the cutting power of any blade she's holding by vibrating it, effectively turning it into a chainsaw. She can also vibrate another person to disorient them, or even shatter some materials by vibrating at their resonance frequency.
    • Martial Prowess: Nari is an expert in the 'Art of Five Limbs', a martial art developed by her clan, utilizing hands, feet, and tail for sharp, precise strikes. She's skilled at martial arts and physical combat in general, and also in the use of various melee weapons and throwing knives.
  • Gear:
    • Five Points: Five bracelet-like rings which contain retractable blades. She wears one on each wrist, one on each ankle, and one on the end of her tail.
    • Bottomless Kunai Pouch: A small pouch on her belt, supposedly created with her clan's secret arts, containing an effectively endless number of throwing knives and shuriken. Magically self-refilling, though it takes a few seconds to make another weapon. Though designed for throwing, in a pinch they can be used as melee weapons. Knives made by the pouch will vanish after a few minutes.
    • Armor Plates: Armored bracers surround her forearms, and flexible armor plates also protect her shins and calves. Additional plating covers part of her tail near the tip. Situated below her hidden blades, she utilizes the armor to deflect attacks.
  • Backstory:
    • The Nezumi clan of ninja traces its lineage back to feudal Japan, where they were supposedly allied to the Iga ninja clan serving the legendary Hattori Hanzo and Tokugawa Ieyasu. However, they turned against Tokugawa near the end of the Warring States period, siding instead with another Lord, Ishida Mitsunari. This proved disastrous, and Mitsunari's province was crushed by Tokugawa. The Nezumi clan dispersed, some hiding across Japan while others fled to different countries, including to the West. In secret, they passed down their ninja arts from parent to child. Nariko's great-grandfather moved to America in the 1920s, and while some of the more mystical abilities of the clan had been lost to him, he ensured his descendents would keep a healthy appreciation for martial arts. Nariko herself was trained to fight from a young age, both by her parents, and by relatives from Japan whom she would visit every summer.
    • Nari's grandmother was the first to notice the girl's unique talent. A swiftness that none of their family could match, even the most skilled adults. She insisted it was a blessing from the wind god Fujin, though given the number of superhumans running around, Nari's parents assumed it was some kind of mutation. Regardless of its origin, Nariko realized that she could do more than anyone else in her family for the common good, and dedicated herself to becoming a hero.
    • In her misadventures as a hero for the Saint Foundation, Nariko's mother was kidnapped. Despite this, Nariko refused to back down from hero work. Instead, she was motivated to ensure no one would ever fear for their loved ones as she had. Along the way, she even found herself a boyfriend. Who happens to be a clone of the Saint. Though she knows he is more than his genes.

  • Real Name: Marah Ahriman
  • Superhero Name: Shathra
  • Age: 25
  • Appearance:
    • Civilian: A slender, dark-skinned woman standing at 5'2". Marah has flowing, thick black hair that falls down to her ankles. Her hair is an unnaturally dark shade of black, which reflects no light, making it almost seem like solid darkness. Her body is covered in dark crimson tattoos from the neck down, depicting ancient sigils and runes. She seems to prefer black clothes, but in actuality she's made clothing out of her hair, for convenience.
    • Hero: When she's actively using her powers, the markings on her body glow a slightly brighter red. Her hero costume is a simple black bodysuit, which, like the rest of her clothes, is made from her hair.
  • Personality: Marah is haughty, and vain. Believing herself to be superior to most others, and taking great pride in her beauty. And yet, at the same time, she feels a need to protect and aid others. She views it as a kind of noblesse oblige, a duty to those beneath her. A queen is nothing without subjects, after all. She's also self-aware enough to realize she's not unstoppable, and knows that people generally don't like being talked down to. As a result, she's more respectful to those she thinks can challenge her, such as her fellow heroes.
  • Powers: Dark Rapunzel: Marah can manipulate her hair at will. Her hair can split into prehensile tendrils at her beck and call, able to wield things with fine dexterity. She can split her hairs into wire-thin strands to make them sharper, or braid them together into a shield of darkness. Infused with the Daeva's power of 'unexistence', her hair has the ability to erase whatever it touches if Marah so wills it. This power extends to all hair on her body, though due to her distaste for body hair, Marah keeps her body clean shaven and uses only the hair on her head.
    • Growth: Marah can grow or retract her hair at will, extending it without limit. However, the growth isn't instantaneous; her hair extends at a rate of about 10 centimeters per second.
    • Keratin Bullet: Marah can expel strands of her hair as bullet-speed projectiles. Thicker braids act like heavy crossbow bolts, while thin ones are more like needles. While Marah loses control of her hair when it is separated from her, she can reabsorb her shed strands on contact.
    • The Blessed Flame: It is said that Ahura Mazda gave fire to man so as to combat the Daeva. As a result, Marah's hair is highly flammable, vaporizing on contact with any kind of flame. This also happens should her hair contact anything 'holy' or 'divine'. As expected, fire and divinity are things Marah's hair cannot erase.
    • Ancient Wards: The markings on Marah's skin are antithetical to spirits, demons, and other such 'unholy' creatures; especially so to Daeva. Contact with her body (though notably not her hair) burns said evil beings like fire. The same is true of anything trying to attack her mind or soul. While not completely impenetrable, it affords her great protection against mental and soul attacks. Marah can turn this effect on and off at will.
    • Beacon of Dark: The Daeva sealed within Marah may or may not be Angra Mainyu, but it is quite potent regardless. As a result, Marah's aura can be easily felt by anyone with the ability to detect supernatural energies. Emanating power from miles away, the aura is especially noticeable to Daeva.
  • Gear: Perhaps due to her own vanity, Marah carries no weapons or equipment, preferring to use only her own hair.
  • Backstory:
    • Ahriman. Another name for Angra Mainyu, the 'source of all the world's evil'. A Daeva of terrible power. Such creatures, according to Zoroaster, were not to be worshipped - they were 'the gods that must be rejected'. Marah's ancestors, in what once was Persia, believed that even these rejected spirits could have some use. Heretically, they challenged the most powerful Daeva they could find, insulting them with profane rituals, even taking the name 'Ahriman' to offend the greatest of Daeva. And then, when Daeva answered their challenge, the Ahriman clan used ancient, taboo magics to seal the accursed spirits inside their own bodies, taking dark power for themselves.
    • In time, it is said the Daeva stopped rising to the challenge, or perhaps the Ahriman family simply forgot their ways with the rise and fall of empires. Though the name 'Ahriman' persisted, as did the tradition of getting ritualistic tatoos, even if much of the meaning was lost to time. Marah herself had gotten several markings as a child, designed to ward off evil. Marah's parents, however, desired to bring the old meaning back. Somehow they found a tome of lost knowledge, and aimed to use their daughter, then a relatively normal 13 year old, as a vessel for the most powerful Daeva they could summon.
    • All Marah knew was that one day, her parents took her down into the basement and bound her, before beginning to painfully inscribe tattoos across her body. They called forth a monster, to bind into her flesh; they called upon Angra Mainyu, greatest of the Daeva. Marah passed out amidst the pain, and awoke to find her parents dead. The Daeva they had summoned had killed them both. Marah believed she was spared by the wards upon her flesh, or perhaps because she had not been a willing participant. But then she caught a glimpse of her own hair. Her raven locks had turned even darker, as black as void.
    • Marah did not know if the Daeva bound into her hair truly was Angra Mainyu, but it had granted her power. She pieced together, in the aftermath, that the protections upon her body had rejected the Daeva, but her hair, which was not alive, had subsumed the spirit, just as her parents had intended.
    • Now a freshly minted orphan, but with great power, Marah was quickly approached by the Saint Foundation. Despite her traumatic experience, she seemed little worse for the wear, and quickly threw herself into hero work, desiring to make a name for herself. She transferred to the Saint City branch of the Foundation in hopes of greater grandeur.

  • Real Name: ACP-013note
  • Superhero Name: Holiday
  • Age: 21 by appearance alone (Manufactured in 2017)
  • Appearance: 6'0". Slimmer, yet more refined and taller build since her refit. The subtle seams in her skin are by now almost imperceptible, unable to be seen unless one looks extremely closely. Her purposeful design to avoid the usual uncanny valley effect has been improved via more detailed texturing on her skin panels, as well as a more accurate recreation of human eyeballs.
  • Personality: By this point in time it's easy to forget that Holiday began as an overly literal, bland and generally serious sort with very little individuality in comparison to her fellow ACPs. Holiday has since then arguably become one of the more lively units in the entirety of Team Dynamo, with a passion for snark and observational humour as well as an unwavering sense of right and wrong—no longer having to be bolstered by her ingrained programming. Holiday is protective and motherly by nature, and while she can come across condescending and overly prideful at times she is ultimately acting for the benefit of others rather than her own self. Holiday does not fear her own death or harm, but instead projects that fear onto her charges—if she feels like she's lost all control of the situation and that her friends or family are in active danger, she is quick to become paranoid and distraught to the point of taking drastic action. Despite her primary role being as a support to her allies and an evacuation/escort unit for innocent civilians, Holiday is unafraid to fight against the toughest villains even if it means merely delaying them; and if she has to take lethal action then she won't hesitate if there's lives on the line. As shown with the false Saint, though, she is willing to take chances if her opponents seem genuinely remorseful—and at her core Holiday would much prefer to take prisoners than live with the hypocrisy of being a lethal protector android. Ultimately Holiday has grown out of her original state to an immense degree, but instead of going rogue as some might have feared she has only bolstered what she already knew—she is both a defender and a warrior, and she'll make sure nothing will stand in the way of keeping her allies safe.
  • Powers:
    • ACP Physiology (Refit): Holiday's usual ability to store items and weapons has been vastly improved, thanks to experimental partial subspace technology now being worryingly implemented by Alex as standard in all his creations. As per usual her entire skin layer is segmented into hinged panels, able to be manipulated at will by either her or somebody performing maintenance on her—allowing access to both her internal circuity and wiring as well as her by now vast storage space. To maximize how much she can keep on (or in) her person, Holiday's actual technological parts are extremely small and modular by design, meaning that she is also very lightweight for being made out of reinforced metal. Her self-perpetuating power core lies in her abdomen and is of the unstable, potentially explosive sort—if exposed to the open air, it is extremely flammable and can end up vaporizing not only herself but also anything and everyone at a whole block's distance. Holiday's muscular systems are incredibly dense, and her support frame is equally as sturdy—to the point where her punches can fracture the earth and send cutting soundwaves out with each impact, and her body can take the equivalent of a falling barge to its direct centre before being at risk of the metal snapping. This allows her to combat foes of even the highest physical level, even if it's only for a short amount of time—a short amount of time which may be necessary in helping to defend her friends. Holiday's refit has also made her more resistant to interference and EMP effects, allowing her to function on an emergency backup system if her primary functions are somehow compromised—for a similar purpose, her primary processor chip is removable and can be ejected out from the base of her skull if she is completely compromised.
    • Reconfigurable Modular Plating: Holiday's extensive refit has rendered her form almost entirely segmented and modular, allowing her to reconfigure and reposition both her internal and external panelings so as to either make room or shift her form in efficient and dangerous ways. She now has access to a full suit of battle armour—which she can summon at any time by simply swapping her external skin layer for her hardier internal armour plating—as well as the ability to focus this armour plating to different parts of her body. For example, she can focus all of her armour to the front of her form so as to construct an extremely dense defensive shield, at the cost of rendering her back exposed and vulnerable. Similarly, she can use this to enhance her physical strikes, and her original extendable arm blades can now swap out entirely with her hands. If fitted with the extra paneling she could theoretically disguise herself with different forms, but this would require yet another extensive refit—and Holiday is perfectly satisfied with what her latest has given her anyway.
  • Gear:
    • Nonlethal Gadgetry: Housed (most usually) in her arms and lower abdomen are a variety of tasers, smoke and teargas grenades, sedatives and rubber bullets for use in combating low-threat enemies or subduing unruly or fleeing civilians. She also possesses handcuffs, zipties and cables for cases where she has to restrain a target, and her scanners allow her to ascertain any potential weaknesses in them in case she accidentally uses excessive force in taking them down. Holiday has free access to these gadgets and is programmed to use them especially for self-defense—for instance, her tasers automatically line her body with a protective charge to shock attackers who try to grab her even while they're retracted. Holiday also possesses more utilitarian tools and gadgets for assisting those in need—including first aid packs, jaws of life, police tape dispensers, fireproof blankets and even protective earmuffs for the benefit of terrified or overwhelmed children.
    • Lethal Weaponry: Holiday is no longer restricted by her original programming that required her to seek explicit permission to take lethal action against threats, and as such she can freely access her weapons without any sort of hard lock stopping her. Her forearms contain modular SMGs which can be outfitted with different types of shot, including explosive and impact varieties. She can also launch various types of grenades, including frags, flashbangs, smoke and tear gas, though her usage of these is more limited due to the inherent risk of collateral damaged involved. Holiday possesses retractable blades which can be deployed in place of her micro-SMGs, and can purposefully destabilize her core as a last desperate attempt to defeat an overwhelming enemy.
    • Tom: A spiderlike drone that Holiday can deploy from her abdomen. Its arachnid form allows it to scale almost any surface (even ceilings) and it is capable of seeing in a full 360° thanks to the multiple cameras positioned across its tiny body. Tom is outfitted with sleep darts and a taser in its mandibles, though it is primarily a scout drone and is programmed to only follow Holliday's instructions and return to her after a set period of time regardless of its success on whatever mission it has been sent on by her. Its lack of any real AI only means that Holiday can override its mechanical mind with her own, and she can directly control it within a limited distance. Since Holiday's refit, Tom has been rendered similarly reconfigurable so as to take up even less space on her person.
    • Adam: Holiday's second drone, this one modelled more after the traditional quad-rotor variety. Adam is stored in Holiday's upper back and is much more of a support drone; fitted with a similar micro-SMG to the ones in her arms and capable of launching taser cables from a distance. Its peripheral vision is much smaller than Tom's but it is able to focus tremendous distances, and (like Tom) can either be controlled directly by Holiday within a limited range or commanded to perform basic actions to complete its missions—programmed also to return to her ASAP if compromised or running low on power. Since Holiday's refit, Adam has been rendered similarly reconfigurable so as to take up even less space on her person.
  • Backstory: The story of the ACPs began not with Holiday, but with one named Ophelia; designated ACP-001 and the effective precursor of her later siblings. Designed by the electrokinetic genius Alex Selby and his best friend Kaylee Thomas, the initial intention of this prototype robot was to be a personal carer and assistant to Selby's sick mother, which quickly evolved into a project of a much grander scale after the two friends entered into hero work. With the first ACP proving to be a success (albeit after a rocky start), the second ACP ("Hamlet") was constructed, and from then on production began. Selby's limited resources and his own attachment to his creations (he tends to spend a lot of time fine-tuning them so their personalities are distinct) means he has only created a total of 13 units since his first prototype, with Holiday being the most recent. Deciding to take a different approach with her after experimenting with a more adaptive AI system, Alex has assigned Holiday to try and fit in with human society and forge her own personality without external interference—while obviously keeping tabs on her from afar and making sure she doesn't stray off-course from her primary directive. With Holiday joining Saint University and developing her mind at speeds unprecedented, the gynoid has quickly set herself the goal of helping others regardless of her similarly inclined programming telling her to do that anyway. Since the battle with the Saviours, Holiday (along with several of her siblings) has undergone an extensive refit; and is now more powerful, versatile, and determined than ever as a result.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Enjoys physical activity; often seen jogging or practicing a variety of sports when the opportunity arises. Claims it to be more for the purposes of fun than an effort to get fit (not that she'd be capable of that anyway). Bizarrely, she seems to have recently developed a love for snooker over any other sport.
    • Originally ACPs were all named after Shakespearian characters, but after the construction of Cordelia (ACP-008) this practice was stopped. However, most ACPs are still given unique names to help differentiate them—Gemini (ACP-009), Countdown (ACP-015), and Vertigo (ACP-012) are all examples of the new naming scheme.
    • Holiday was the first ACP to not be constantly monitored by her creators, and by extension is not programmed to behave exclusively under their orders. Technically, this makes her capable of refusing their commands in favour of another's—a practice first seen all the way back in the prototypical Ophelia, who was similarly unpredictable. Since the integration of the new adaptive AI technology in the units following her, Holiday and Ophelia are no longer unique in this regard, however given their time active they'll most likely be at least one step ahead of their successors by experience alone.

  • Real Name: Mikoto Hirschbaum
  • Superhero Name: Kokoro
  • Age: 16, biologically. In reality only around 2-3 years old.
  • Appearance: 6'2". Lean as a bean, though has some refined musculature to him. Eyes are an unnatural shade of blue and his pupils are slitted vertically like that of a fox. When using his powers, he emanates a bluish-white aura from his entire person, and his eyes tend to glow in response (as well as generally in the dark). Teeth are noticeably more vulpine than human.
  • Personality: In comparison to his distant and somewhat fragile alternate counterpart, Mikoto is much more aware of both himself and his surroundings, and the presence of both Yoko and Zach has successfully instilled nigh-unshakeable principles in him that give him a strong sense of right and wrong. Though sometimes coming across a little oblivious and naïve in regards to everyday things, Mikoto is more intelligent than he lets on—able to read people to an accurate extent even if he fails in terms of more common knowledge. Mikoto can seem to be quiet and anxious in his own way, but this is more out of worry for his loved ones—he deeply loves his sister and tries to play down his own achievements (perceiving them to be less skillful than her's) in an effort to give her more of a spotlight, and he is quick to show empathy and kindness to those in trouble even if it ends up inconveniencing him. Despite his mostly passive and well-meaning behaviour, though, Mikoto is quick to jump to his allies' defense—becoming coolly enraged on their behalf even if he tries to rectify the situation peacefully. Mikoto is in some ways sensitive yet ultimately unashamed to show his genuine love towards others, and tries his absolute hardest to make sure his power doesn't ever get to his head too much. Still, he's managed to inherit both his mother's optimism and her mischievous side—a fact that most of the other yōkai learned way too late.
  • Powers:
    • Foxfire Projection: Mikoto has the natural magical ability to produce the kitsune's characteristic blue flame, and can wield it in both an offensive and defensive fashion. His ghostly foxfire usually burns both cold and hot but he can mold it into more versatile projections—including defensive shields he can place both around himself and allies as well as around small/medium sized objects in order to lift and manipulate them from a distance. Like his mother, Mikoto's foxfire can also be used to rapidly heal injuries inflicted on his allies—though also like his mother it has next to no effect when he tries to use it on himself. Though manifesting as typical fire on a smaller scale, Mikoto's true affinity is with foxfire lightning—yet another trait passed on from his mother. At his uppermost limits Mikoto can fire off devastating blasts of spiritual energy at his opponents, create shields thick enough to withstand even mortar shells, and even lift himself using his shields in a form of rudimentary flight—however it usually takes a strong emotional reaction from him for his abilities to properly reach this level.
    • Spiritual Affinity: Mikoto's strong connection to his yōkai side has given him the ability to perceive spirits to an incredible extent; comparable to actually seeing them in great detail as if they weren't invisible at all. Even while his powers are dormant he can still see and hear these beings, and though his alternate self was driven to near insanity by them his encouragement and reassurance from his parents here have managed to get him to cope with them a little more than he would have normally. Even so, they can still end up being distracting to him, and contribute partially to his apparent obliviousness—but him effectively seeing them since birth means he doesn't see them as anything but ordinary people, which can make it harder for him to decide who's really worth listening to half the time.
    • Kitsune Soul: Mikoto's hanyō nature has given him the spirit of a fox instead of a human, contributing to his more feral attributes and foxlike instincts that occasionally make themselves apparent in certain situations. While usually only perceptible to those already spiritually inclined, Mikoto's fox soul can be perceived normally when he's pushing himself to his fullest extent—to which it will manifest as a construction of foxfire in an aura around him. While manifested in this way his behaviours and physicality become more animalistic—even to the point of running on all fours—and can be outright separated from his body either forcibly or willingly as a form of astral projection (though Saori usually needs to help him in the latter situation). Mikoto's kitsune soul also means he can theoretically create and utilize a star ball to store a portion of himself and his power within it, though his half-human nature has ended up making this a more difficult feat for him to pull off.

    • Unfinished Star Ball: A work in process hoshi-no-tama that Mikoto has been steadily working on. In its current state it's little more than an incomplete, translucent glassy sphere around the size of a marble, but when completed it'll be capable of acting as an effective Soul Jar to store both himself and a portion of his power if needed. Mikoto keeps it on his person at all times, usually worn as a necklace.
  • Backstory: Born to Zachariah Hirschbaum and the kyūbi no kitsune Yoko (before the former's conversion into a being of pure ink), Mikoto was raised alongside his twin sister and fellow hanyō Saori—as well as with their younger adopted kitsune sibling Sophie after she was gifted to them as a mundane fox by their father's best friend Sam Everret. Being born with yōkai magic, the two hanyō were raised together in a manner very much unlike their alternate selves from a certain Gaea-ruled future—and due to their supernatural origins ended up aging into their prime much quicker than ordinary humans would've. With only a couple of years having passed since their conception, Mikoto and Saori are now physically in their teens and each respectively determined to follow a heroic path—Mikoto in particular out of sheer desire to do what his father and mother believes as right. With a passion for making people happy and protecting those who can't fight back, Mikoto hopes that he won't become a mere shadow against the feats of his parents; terrified of the possibility that he'll end up the same way as his parallel self without even realising it.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Retains certain behaviours from his more vulpine side even in normal circumstances—a recurrent urge to pick up scents and a habit of curling up into a tight ball while asleep being only a couple of examples. Mikoto also has a natural tendency to walk on all fours when unchecked, though he's managing to suppress this—at least until he's focusing too hard on something else to realise.

Real Name: Kano Agano

Superhero Name: Night Light

Age: 22

Appearance: Kano is a relatively tall lanky young man with long unkept black hair and very pale skin. He has pale grey pupils and usually sports large dark bags under his eyes. His pupils dissipate when using his power and begin to glow a bright white. When not in his costume he is almost always in pajamas, with his favorite being his royal purple pajama pants and lavender shirt. For his hero costume, he wears a royal purple costume with two black sashes over his shoulders forming the shape of an X, with a glowing yellow lighting bolt insignia at the center on his chest. Yellow electric currents can be clearly seen in the sashes, originating from the insignia. At night his insignia, the currents in his sashes, and the glow of his eyes all shine significantly brighter.

Personality: Kano is a very quiet and stoic person, often keeping his feelings and emotions to himself, though he somehow still manages to convey his feelings without speaking or even acting in any way out of the ordinary. He is often very tired due to both his severe narcolepsy and the kickback of his power. As such, he is often groggy and slow to respond. Despite this and his quiet personality, he is a surprisingly friendly person, enjoying talking to others, especially those he deems his friends. He has a very strong sense of justice and despises heroes that put the well being of themselves over needs of others.

Powers: Kano has control of a completely unseeable, and very tangible force, that allows him to influence the world around him. He can use it to pick up things, push things, throw things, crush things, slice things, rend things, fly, and even create a simple force field. His ability is powerful enough to crush, break, or slice concrete and steel with relative ease, however his power does come with a draw back. His power takes an obscene amount of energy to use, and that combined with his narcolepsy means that he has a hard time doing hero work for overly long periods of time, and when he isn’t working, he’s usually sleeping. This kickback can cause him to fall asleep in the middle of doing hero work, or even leave him comatose if he attempts to use his power on low energy. The source of this power is unknown, and even though it has been in his family for a couple generations, it’s origin has not been traced. For whatever reason, his power seems to become a bit more powerful during the night and the kickback affects him a bit less.

Gear: The sashes and insignia on his costume actually serves a very distinct, and important purpose. His suit is designed to keep track of his heartbeat and, whenever he shows signs of tiring or simply falling asleep, send a small electric shock to his heart. Although this is a bit painful, it has the trade off of keeping him awake and energized, and even improving his tolerance to pain.

Backstory: Kano is the latest in a relatively long line of minor super heroes. His fathers side of the family all had a power very similar to his, albeit much less powerful and taxing, and both his father and grandfather were heroes, though his grandfather perished before he was born. Due to the nature of his ability, he actually went through most of his childhood as a relatively normal human, with no intention of following his family legacy. This changed however, when his father was killed in action, not by a villain, but by a careless hero thinking him a villain. This led the death of his father, Cymbal, and over a dozen other citizens he was in the midst of saving. Kano, distraught, made the realization that the one thing that the world needed more than anything were true heroes, people who help others not for their own sake, but for the sake of others, a breed of heroes going extinct in present day, and the kind of hero his father was. Kano, at this point in his mid-teens, resolved to make up for the tragic loss of a great hero, and become the kind of hero his father was, spending the next 3 years training with his powers until he eventually got to where he is now, a new recruit in The Saint Foundation, and still as exhausted as ever

Miscellaneous: As stated before, he does have narcolepsy. Whether this is naturally cause or because of his powers hasn’t been decided; Up until recently he has lived with his powerless mother, Annabelle Agano, but moved out upon being recruited into The Foundation.

  • Real Name: Katesthiólepída (Kates for short).
  • Superhero Name: Armament
  • Age: ~2,500 (2 years sentient).
  • Appearance: Her favored human appearance, borrowed from one of the few wielders who truly mastered her, is that of a muscular Eastern European woman with roughly cut blonde hair and a large scar on her left arm. Her true form is that of a xiphos with a blood red blade, which is engulfed in white flames when wielded. Her other weapon forms follow this color scheme.
  • Personality: Rather taciturn and to the point, belying a hidden naivety that comes from her lack of experience with sentience. Her lack of communication skills often causes her to be blunt and even unintentionally rude in conversation.
  • Powers:
    • Devourblade: The function she was originally designed for, Kates constantly absorbs mana from her surroundings, and, when wielded, expels it as flames of raw magic. These flames burn even those who are immune to normal fire, interfere with magical healing, and prolonged exposure can even damage one’s soul.
    • Shapeshifter: After absorbing enough magic, Kates has gained the ability to change her form into any weapon she’s familiar with the workings of, as well as a human form. These weapons all have the same properties as her sword form, and projectile weapons will use her flames in place of ammunition. More complex weapons like guns and other things with many moving parts are harder for her to maintain the form of. Notably, her human form is only human in appearance. A touch will reveal that she is still made of metal.
    • Boosting: Kates’s magic enhances the muscles of her wielder, providing a significant boost to both strength and speed. This boost ends the moment Kates and her wielder are no longer in contact.
    • Battle Precognizance: In battle, Kates has instinctive knowledge of the next few actions that her wielder will take. This allows her to react and adapt ahead of time. Notably, this only applies to actions the wielder takes, and not actions taken upon the wielder.
  • Backstory: Katesthiólepída, Greek for “Devourblade”, was forged by the legendary flame spirit blacksmith Ignatius circa 500 BC. Like all the master swordsmith’s blades, Kates was a living weapon from the day she was forged, but lacked sentience and true awareness of her surroundings as she remained stagnant in Ignatius’s collection. It was 997 AD when a lucky thief managed to sneak into Ignatius’s forge and make off with the blade. Though that thief’s luck ran out soon after when he lost his life to the blade’s flame. From then on, Katesthiólepída passed through the hands of a multitude of people, but very few were able to master her, with the rest losing their lives to her magic. This gained her a reputation as an infamous cursed blade.
All the while, Kates continued to absorb mana faster than she expelled it, until 2 years ago. Like a switch being flipped, the cursed blade was finally aware. She almost immediately took on human form, using the shapeshifting ability she’d acquired who knows how long ago, but had been unable to use without a will of her own. After this, she spent time wandering the world, learning of the existence of heroes. Deciding that a weapon used to defend was superior to one used to slaughter, she chose to entrust herself to those heroes.

  • Real Name: Iris Langley
  • Superhero Name: Visionary
  • Age: 18
  • Appearance:
    • Human form: A small, slender girl with short black hair. Her body and clothes are dotted with numerous eyes that shift, appear, and disappear seemingly at random. In addition, she lacks eyes on her face beyond her normal shifting eyes. Has recently acquired two small horns that protrude from either side of her head, though, as they are the same color as her hair, they can be hard to see.
    • True form: The only part of Iris’s true form that can reliably be described is her optic nerves. She has a seemingly infinite number of them extending from her body in a manner reminiscent of tentacles. Each is tipped with a single unblinking eyeball. The body those optic nerves are attached to is impossible to describe or even comprehend for a 3-dimensional brain. She claims this form has horns, and judging by the size of her “meals”, it likely has quite a large mouth as well, but anything else is unknown.
  • Personality: Around most people, Iris is a timid girl possessed of noticeable social anxiety that leaves her stuttering with her words. Around friends, however, she becomes much more outgoing, talkative, and confident. She sees her friends as her “family” and has an incredibly strong desire to protect them, despite the dangerous work they do. When this desire is pushed to its limit, another side of her comes out and she becomes sadistic, cruel, and even malicious. It is unknown if this facet of Iris is due to her Eldritch physiology, but Iris herself believes it is, unwilling to equate it with her human mind.
  • Powers:
    • She of the Infinite Eyes: Iris can manifest her true form’s eyes on herself or any surface she’s touching, and once manifested, she can freely shift them across the surface in question and use them to channel her wide range of vision-related powers. Eyes on surfaces other than her body become more difficult to maintain with distance, time, and number of eyes currently manifested.
    • Freeze Vision
    • Heat Vision
    • X-Ray Vision
    • Night Vision
    • Telescopic Vision
    • Children of Ahl’kuur: Iris can summon the Children of Ahl’kuur, servant creatures provided by her Eldritch patron, which resemble giant eyeball connected to tentacular optic nerves. Individually, they’re little more than cannon fodder, but she can call up to 10 at a time. Iris has been experimenting with creating servants of her own, but has had no luck as of yet.
    • Planar Gates: Iris can create gates between the 3-dimensional plane and the 8-dimensional plane inhabited by Eldritch Abominations. These gates can be formed on any solid surface and take the form of large 2-dimensional eyes. Due to the differing nature of distance between planes, these can be used as “shortcuts”, and Iris can extend her true form’s optic nerves through gates into the 3D plane.
    • Nonexistent Body: Less a power than a consequence of her inhuman physiology, the human form Iris takes within the 3D plane cannot truly be said to exist. Instead, the intrusion of an 8D being into a 3D world creates a “fold” in space, onto which Iris’s mental image of herself is projected. This non-existent body can take damage, feel pain, and even be incapacitated, but it has no blood to lose or vital organs to destroy, and damage is not reflected back onto the true body.
  • Gear: N/A
  • Backstory: In an isolated town in Massachusetts, Iris was born to the wealthy Langley family, who secretly worshipped an Eldritch Abomination known as Ahl’kuur, the Many-Eyed One. Having just the tiniest bit of Ahl’kuur’s blood in her lineage, the being in question chose to Bless the child for its own amusement, and Iris was born with countless shifting eyes. Ostracized by her peers throughout elementary and middle school, Iris was left with crippling social anxiety, and transferred to Saint Academy in an attempt to fit in.
This succeeded beyond her wildest dreams, and Iris soon found herself with a second family she could rely on. However, after the Gaea attacks, Iris realized that she herself wasn’t strong enough to be relied on and spent a year on her own learning about her heritage, training her abilities, and communing with her patron in an effort to fix that. During this time, whether it came naturally with age or resulted from the increase in her power, Iris underwent a metamorphosis, from something that was mostly human, to a full blown Eldritch Abomination in her own right.
When she was satisfied with her training, she returned to the Saint Foundation and joined her friends on a number of missions. During the final battle with the Saviors, Iris entreated Ahl’kuur for a sizable loan in power. The power returned to its owner at battle’s end, but Iris is well aware she’s now deeper in her fickle patron’s debt than ever.

  • Real Name: Marcus Millar Kent
  • Superhero Name: Labrys
  • Age: 19
  • Appearance: Marcus has undergone a lot of changes since the end of the Savior War and the "Greece Mission" shortly after; he's kept his hair roughly the same length mostly, with the hair on the right most side of his head shaved down to a buzz cut, and he retains his incredibly muscular physique...though now he's covered in scars. He has one from temple to jawline, a couple really nasty looking ones just above his knee and on his right forearm, and an assortment of others from the fight with Messiah. And oddly enough his right eye now perpetually has a golden sclera, which has a slight glow, which seems to extend to slight scarring proceeding down from it. He now wears a zipped up black and red sleeveless vest over a very tight sleeveless undershirt, a single shoulder guard fastened on to his right shoulder. He wears a combination of long tight gloves underneath armored gauntlets, the right gauntlet looking slightly more bestial. He wears an armored belt around his midsection, and armored boots. His outfit includes a single shoulder cape with a hood.
  • Personality: Marcus tries to keep to the kind of personality he had before, remaining rather witty though rather more deadpan and sarcastic - it is evident though that he's changed. A lot. His aggressive style during fighting has if anything increased significantly, and he fights with an almost unconscious brutality - as if he doesn't even realize he's fighting much more harshly than he ever had before. He's still Hot-Blooded, but this expresses itself more in strange angry episodes nowadays. He's become quite quiet now, and almost seems to regard fighting as more "stress relief" than anything else. He has literally no patience for either the Gaean or Guardian perspectives, regarding both with disdain. He still tries to keep with his old interests, but it's very hard for him to just lose himself in his interests. He knows he should be bothered by how few qualms he has with the amount of force he feels ready to exert, but he seems to be almost not there some times. Indeed, there are occasions where it seems Marcus stares off into space, loses time, doesn't realize what he's been doing... He has quite a few things wrong with him, and there's the matter of his denial of this. What he is sure about though is that whatever's wrong with him, he is not going to kill anybody regardless what's going on inside his head.
  • Powers: Labrys has the same kind of powers as the Saint with a few additions; Super-Strength, Super-Toughness, Super-Speed, enhanced stamina, and so on... though now with some different additions. He can now finely control his biology, namely his muscles, bones, blood and so on, either offensively or defensively. This power plus his original ones let him hit on a higher level than before.
    • Following training with Cole, he has limited psionic powers; namely, tactile telekinesis, which amounts to strong manipulation of whatever touches him or is within his immediate area. He can use this to further strengthen himself, or alter things around him. He's since advanced his understanding of this power, but using it too much results in headaches.
    • Weaknesses: Marcus now has something mental going on with him - he frequently loses time, and using his new biological ability offensively results in him going faint / "losing time." Getting too aggressive can lead to him becoming single-minded, and only noticing wounds when they're taking him down. He also strangely has a thing where a certain shade of red (royal red) provokes an almost total mental breakdown in him, and destabilizes him. He has a pronounced tendency to try and ignore his own problems for the sake of other people, which is just not a sustainable plan for dealing with his issues. His psychic powers also have a pronounced tendency of wearing down on him, owing to early overuse, and can make him have anything from common bloody noses to fainting episodes.
  • Gear: One definite new thing here added to Marcus is he now has a weapon - the Black Iron Axe, which he picked up during the Greece Mission. This two headed axe, black as obsidian, glimmers in the sun. It's powerless now, but it used to have a greater deal of power before.
  • Backstory: According to him, he's a clone of the original Saint, created in the labs of the Sovereign Sphinx, Malhareff. He then escaped the lab and saw the students leaving "this whack temple thing, totes looked off the wall!" And so he decided to enroll with Saint University, hoping to live up to the original. What he was not prepared for was the sheer extent to which people started imposing ideas on him. Then the whole incident with the Saviors happened; Marcus exited the war with the Saviors' Dimension scarred, mentally hurt, and dealing with his own issues related to the death of the Anti-Saint. Now however he's just come home from the Greece Mission, which he refuses to discuss in detail, and he doesn't remember much of.
  • Miscellaneous: Apparently the Axe was a gift, except he doesn't remember who gave it to him.

  • Real Name: Cole Streiss
  • Superhero Name: none so far.
  • Age: 21
  • Appearance: Cole dresses in a tight short sleeved coat made of black denim, a sleeveless vest with a damaged zipper that only goes up half way up his chest, and a likewise quite tight blue sleeveless shirt that is quite flattering on him. He wears a pair of tanned leather pants with a number of pockets added on, which have a number of odd little trinkets and items - souvenirs from his long and arduous travels. Cole has light brown hair that fades to blond at the tips - his eyes are light blue, and he looks visibly scruffy. He has a muscular but somewhat lean build, athletic and like that of a runner. He has a number of scars on his torso. He's now added a bandanna to his ensemble.
  • Personality: Cole is a rather jumpy if deadpan lad - he's lived through a lot, and tends to jump right to fight or flight solutions when he's faced with hostility. He tends to be very sarcastic and dry-witted when he can, viewing it as better than just laying down and letting everything happen. He can be a right flirt, though this is usually more of him trying to enjoy his time instead of shamelessly going after people. Cole is enthusiastic about singing - he used to be a bar singer, along with some of his friends, and despite his rough and tumble outlook, most remark he has a lovely singing voice. Furthermore, he is also smarter than he looks - he tends to be a more tactical sort, now more than before. His attitude to his powers has changed, viewing them with more connection to who he is, and less as something he has to fear. He's trying to get used to those around him and be more social with them. He's been through two huge world-shaking events now, and knows there will probably be more, so his friends need someone there for them.
  • Powers: Cole's powers owing to the infusion from Wilma's mysterious Patron have been more finely honed, as he has become the "Metahuman Sage". His control has more than improved, owing to an understanding of his powers, and if he wants to push above his former limits, he has a new "random number generator" from 101 to 125. His psychic powers can act all the way down to the atomic level, and can do things from empower his physical attacks, launch telepathic attacks, to control his surroundings...one of his definite strengths is the sheer variability to his power usage.
    • Weakness: Poor Control: Even with the Sage upgrade, Cole is still a volatile, unpredictable guy with poor emotional control. With his powers tending to flare up when he gets emotional, this obviously means he can misfire significantly if his emotions get to a certain point.
  • Gear: Cole carries a blue metal knife with him called Memoir, which is sharper and more durable than most known metals.
  • Backstory: Falling out of the sky is something Cole's familiar with - and as he showed up in Super City, he was distinctly aware of the recent flare ups of human and metahuman resentments. He spent a good amount of time on the ground, trying to get a feel for what was going on before making a move to try and sign up for Saint University. He didn't have good memories of a number of those present, remembering them as people distinctly different than they are, but Cole has always been a "move forward, don't move back" type. He knows they're not who he remembers, but old issues don't just heal up perfectly all the same. Cole is nothing if not a survivor. And he's now survived a lot more.

  • Real Name: Mason Bridges
  • Superhero Name: Masked Fighter Alpha Revelations
  • Age: 24
  • Appearance: This handsome SOB here. As Alpha Revelations, his suit is more streamlined with a Silver and White color scheme and a black under body. The silver becomes colors based on the element, as well as the black under suit.
  • Personality: A few words to properly describe Mason is excitable, hyper and passionate. Mason grew up refusing to believe in shame for the things you believed in, worked on, and fought for. His bracer is his prized achievement, and it's something he boasts about constantly when given the opportunity. However, he's still a nice guy, and believes in justice and helping those who can't help themselves. He also likes to think of ways of "improving" devices and designs...even when they don't work out the way they should. That time with the toaster oven still haunts him to this day...but his inventions will make the world a better place! You'll see!
  • Powers: Mason uses the powers of the Elemental planes to become an armored crime fighter, his inner Armor and Outer Armor having different combinations of how to use them.
    • Inner armor
      • Dark: physical attribute increase
      • Light: blinding disorienting attacks
      • Fire: explosive and fiery attacks
      • Water: mild hydrokinesis control
      • Wind: Super Speed
      • Earth: slower, stronger, able to control small portions of the earth

    • Outer armor:

      • Dark: Jaunting planned attacks
      • Light: hard light hologram
      • Fire: blazing hot aura
      • Water: swimming through air and water attacks
      • Wind: extremely fast, flight
      • Earth: tankiness, gravity manipulation
  • Gear: Mason gains his powers strictly from his gear, namely the Genesis Driver (Upgraded and rebranded to the Revelations Driver) and the Element Dial, the object that allows for him to switch between the combinations of his armor at a whim.
  • Backstory: For as long as he could remember, Mason was fascinated by the concept of SCIENCE! Probably not at all helped that his family were deep into the concepts of science as well. His mom more than any of them, often lost in her own world she found herself flying solo for quite some time. However, as expected as it was, her experiments would be the death of her, quite literally. She left no legacy and her name was ultimately forgotten in the scientific community, a fate that Mason deemed nothing short of horrific. All that time, all that effort, was gone simply because she couldn't make a name for herself. Mason maintained that if she died doing what she loved, then there was no point in being upset about it; it was her drive, her dream, her ambition and he wanted to maintain that through her wishes. So, with his drive set, he created the Genes-Driver and made a goal: to ensure that his name would be at least passed down and remember through the ages, no matter the stakes! So says Masked Fighter Genesis!
    • His first year of the Superhero University brought him several things, including friends, family, and a new set of powers at the cost of one of his arms. As a result, not one to fester in the realm of despair, he set upon making a new Driver and a new set of powers, one to make his own: SO says the newly risen hero, Masked Rider Omega Genesis!
    • After becoming an official hero and fighting off against the likes of various villains, finally getting in touch with the Elemental Forces of Light and Dark and allowing his brain to split in two, Mason discovered some shocking revelations: His mother is alive and lost to the inbetween of the different worlds, and he wants to try and find her. Through the help of his friends, his brain was fixed, and a new set of powers will allow him to do just that, through his new title, Masked Fighter Alpha Revelations!
  • Miscellaneous: Gains incredibly random bursts of "Inspiration" at the strangest times, which results in him writing it down...regardless of the current situation he's in. In addition, when he works, he listens to a fair amount of "Queen".

...

  • Real Name: Saori Hirschbaum
  • Superhero Name: No name yet, but she's putzing around with "Quickflash"
  • Age: 16 Biologically, In reality about 2-3 years old.
  • Appearance: Similar to her brother, but with longer black hair that reaches the back of her neck. Her eyes are a shard of blue but less ethereal than her brothers. Given her brand of fighting is more physical than her brothers, she's less thin and a bit more muscular. Peeking through her hair is two little triangular tufts of ears, which she's exceedingly embarrassed by. Her hero outfit usually consists of a...well, a ninja outfit, including a domino mask.
  • Personality: Much the opposite of her brother, Saori is very brash and headstrong. However, much like Mikoto's difference from his counterpart in the time line, Saori also handles better. While she is still intense and ferocious, she's far kinder, patient and well off, having both parents around to teach her right. She's proud and especially protective of her family, refusing to let anyone dare insult them. That being said, however, she harbors a fair amount of self doubt, especially in her abilities, which she hides through unbridled self confidence. She's aware that her brother got the Lion's share of their mothers spiritual energy and tries to compensate that through any means necessary. True, while she's in a far better relationship with her brother, she still harbors a small amount of jealousy to him, frustrated at how easy he makes it all look without the effort (in her eyes anyway). She holds her mother and father in high regard and wishes to live up to their name in any way they can, while maintain slight anger issues and an admittedly mischievous trickster side.
  • Powers:
    • Shapeshifting: While her spiritual prowess isn't to the level of her brothers, she trained where she was better at, namely the ability to shapeshift. Admittedly it's not up to snuff as her mother or even her father can, but she can still alter her appearance for the most part, changing her face, clothes, hair, the works to become someone else entirely different should the need arise.
    • Illusionism: With her limited amount of spiritual energy manipulation, Saori can still alter the world around her in minor illusion manipulation, but her preferred method of handling this is creating clones of herself (at a limited number of 3, and while they're not physical they still offer numbers and mind games. She can also create illusions for other people for further possible trickery.
    • Fox Fire Weaponry: Taking a page from her fathers book, she's capable of, while not using Fox Fire in the proper way, can shape fox fire into a weapon she can use as effectively as a physical one. Her preferred weapons this way are katana's, kunai, and the occasional War Hammer for the big hitters, but can get creative with them the more training she has.
  • Gear: The sword on her back, the clothes she wears and a bag of various odds and ends (Including her lucky knife!)
  • Backstory: Born to Yoko and Zachariah Hirschbaum, Saori was raised with her twin brother and fellow Hanyou Mikoto, as well as with their younger adopted kitsune sibling Sophie after she was gifted to them as a mundane fox by their father's best friend Sam Everret. Having aged into their prime far earlier than anticipated due to the Yokai Magic they share, with their powers now forming and their desire to be heroes in their heart, Saori walks along the path with her brother. Wanting to make a name for herself and to get out of her own brothers shadow, Saori wants to help anyone and everyone she can reach, no matter what she may have to suffer through to do it.
  • Miscellaneous: Similar to her brother, she retains SOME vulpine traits she gets from her mothers side, including curling up and sleeping, but especially when agitated, has a nasty habit of biting...and she got her mom's fangs too, so...

An Ordinary Oddball

  • Real Name: Wilma Equuleus Pictoris Printer
  • Superhero Name: White Queen
  • Age: 20
  • Appearance:
  • Personality: Upon first glance, Wilma is a Cloudcuckoolander through and through. However, under all the strangeness lies a startlingly bright intellect that doesn't hesitate to lend a hand, should she be needed—even though she may be afraid at times. She absolutely adores heroic epics and her Inspired powers are partly based off of them. However, it sometimes borders into an unhealthy obsession, which was how she got her powers in the first place.
  • Powers:
    • Paper Manipulation: Wilma is able to manipulate paper to form a variety of constructs, provided that the paper can be seen by her or is within 25 feet of her. The constructs she makes take on the attributes of the real thing. Through constant practice and ignoring all facts to the contrary, her constructs are now waterproof and fireproof...as long as nobody reminds her. She depends on gestures, so restricting her movement is a good way to hamper this power. However, she can manipulate exactly one sheet of paper by using her face.
    • Legend Forgery: By fabricating a legend that attributes anomalous properties to an item and believing in it herself, she can make the properties appear in the item. The attributes manifested will always be weaker than "the real thing" and can be dispelled by simply reminding Wilma what it actually is (several times if she tries to ignore the reminders). The more powerful she wants to make the effects and the more effects she wants to add, the more strain is placed on her. "Forging" an item which has a lot of stories behind it (like Excalibur) also takes a lot out of her.
    • Internal Reality: There exists inside Wilma a separate plane of reality. It's part of her powers as an Inspired, since these Mad artists can create their own realities. It is part of the Eternal Dream (AKA the Dreamlands), where the worlds of all fairy tales and planes created by other Inspired reside and where people go when they are dreaming. It cannot be accessed normally, and everything inside it cannot be brought out (as it doesn't really "exist") easily. However, it is the fuel of Wilma's powers, and its odd nature makes defending against mental invasion and manipulation easier by making such things "manual."
      • Wilma's Internal Reality is a two-dimensional medieval landscape made of paper cutouts. Traveling to the "side" is only possible if a door is encountered. Wilma can also manipulate the surroundings (because everything is paper), but it will erode her will until she is no longer able to defend her mind, which is represented by a white crystal rose pinned to the sky to serve as a sun.
  • Blazing Arm: Having drunk Gilliano's blood, Wilma's previously part-Dream Eater arm has been transformed into an ordinary fleshy one. However, it has glowing white veins and an odd black runic heart with 5 distinct parts on the back of her hand. If she touches something with this hand, she can imbue "concepts" into them; for example, turning a stick into a weapon by applying the concept of "sword," or turning a rock into an explosive by applying the concept of "bomb." She has five charges of this power every day and whenever she uses a charge, part of the runic heart on the back of her hand fades. It is notably the only part of herself that Wilma is able to re-attach should it be severed, and while attached to her, it lowers the strain of using Inspiration considerably.
    • Her arm also has the ability to teleport her to places she can see with a total loss of momentum after it occurs and a chance to land in an awkward position. This is because everything in Wilma's sight-line has a possibility to be one of her future locations/positions, and as long as that is the case, Gilliano's blood makes it possible for her to warp probability to be there. The problem comes when she can also be sideways or even upside down in the location that she sees, making landings hard to stick.
  • Gear:
    • Crystal Rose Brooch: This white crystal brooch in the shape of a rose monitors the sum of the mental and physical strain that Wilma accumulates by using her powers. As she gets more strained, it slowly turns red. Dark red means she is on the verge of collapsing, blue means she is dying, and black means she has died.
    • Vorpal Blade: This is a silvery zweihander that goes snicker-snack and leaves enemies dead. It has engravings of rose vines all alongside its length. Don't be fooled by its seemingly special nature, however—Vorpal Blades are standard-issue weapons for those who fight Dream Eaters (shadowy monsters which eat dreams and hope), the natural enemies of the Inspired.
    • Armored Longcoat: Wilma made this longcoat out of compressed and shaped black paper and disassembles parts of it for ammunition sometimes. It is very useful against slashing and piercing attacks, but blunt force still poses a significant threat (since Wilma is still a baseline human underneath everything).
      • The blindfold reduces Wilma's paper manipulation range once she puts it on, but it also suppresses the fear she feels, because she cannot actually see what causes her fear. This makes her fight more effectively, but only within a certain range. And since it also renders her blind, she may not be able to tell between friend and foe, making this a last ditch tactic at best.
  • Backstory:
    • Wilma and her family have odd powers related to art and their obsession with it. Such individuals are called "Inspired," or just "Mad" by people wishing to insult them. A lesser known term for them is an "Alice," named after the most famous Inspired. Due to a family blessing, her whole family (minus the "uninspired" people who have married into it) is Inspired (a rare occurrence, since Inspired is based on obsession about art and not blood ties).
    • Her ancestors fought the Dream Eaters, hope-eating creatures loosed into reality by a magus family seeking revenge. Eventually, their whole family got into hunting Dream Eaters with their powers, since their Inspiration made them Supernaturally Delicious and Nutritious to the sordid creatures. Since the other favorite target of the Dream Eaters were children, they formed a hunting group under the name of "Clan Printer," by which even normal people could receive the power of their Inspiration to fight back against the Dream Eaters.
    • Wilma, being the youngest one out of her three sisters, still relatively young, and a female to boot, was deemed to be destined for greatness by the laws of stories. Therefore, she was sent to Saint University (with her consent) to claim her destiny. Whether fairy tale rules will still hold true in the real world remains to be seen...
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Anyone knowing her full and true name (which includes her secret middle name) can use it to command her. It cannot be used to order her to harm herself, as that would break the spell immediately and render it useless when used by that person again. In legal records, her middle name does not exist—however, it is listed in her great-grandfather Wilfrid's manuscript with a warning not to let anyone else know (all of the secret names are named after constellations, or parts of them). The manuscript is guarded tightly, but there are still ways Wilma's middle name could be let slip...
    • Wilma physically cannot tell a straight lie and must keep any promises she makes because of the stipulations of a family blessing that ensures her continued existence and counters a curse by a magus family. In addition to this, she must prevent her name from being struck from all records (on documents and from memory) or else she will cease to exist because the blessing is tied to the "Wil-" syllable in her name.
    • Attempting to overuse or use her powers in ways not defined by her own rules causes her physical pain and harm, including bleeding from orifices. This can be fatal if she does it too often.
    • Despite her powers, she is a regular human being and is affected like one, too.
Printer Family Saga—How It All Began
  • There was once a man named Wilfrid, and he was the first recorded person in the Printer family to become Inspired. Whatever stories he wrote in allegory came true, so he abandoned his tale-weaving and came to be a historian instead, only dealing in stone-cold facts.
  • Then a prominent magus family came to him, and asked him to redact any and all information about their concealed crimes he planned to include in his new book. Wilfrid refused. There was an argument, and the magus family left in a huff, later casting a spell to wipe out the Printer family through "accidental" circumstances.
  • Someone from the magus family stole Wilfrid's manuscript, and after many ordeals, he was able to get it back. Because he had written another short story detailing "himself" as the hero and the "magus family" as the villain, they had inadvertently spilled the details about the curse to him. So he used his powers as he had never used them before, writing for the sake of his descendants and for himself.
  • First, he redacted the details of the magus family's crimes just as he was asked, but added a detail saying that they were "uncreative and art thieves." Taken separately, it meant that the magus family was uncreative when cursing him, and they stole his art (his manuscript). Taken together, it meant that he had cursed the magus family in turn with Creative Sterility, which even affected their magic since it also counted as art.
  • Secondly, he made use of a pun in his own name ("Where there's a 'Wil-' there's a way!") to make sure that the rest of his bloodline survived. His words bound their sundered fates back together again, and ensured that they would be able to carry on his Inspired legacy—provided they never lied and never broke any promises they had. Sadly, shortly after completing his Magnum Opus (which detailed the adventures of 7 generations of Printers, including himself), he died due to overstraining his abilities.
  • Fast forward some time, and the magus family is back at it again, with many bitter feelings towards the Printer family. With their perverted magic, now only being able to copy spells and various Inspired abilities, they summoned a new breed of creature which they called the Dream Eaters—the old enemy of the Great Dream. With their new weapons, they hoped to be able to break the Printers' collective wills by having their monsters eat their enemies' creativity and hope. Wilma's grandfather Wilgefortz (who was Wilfrid's son) won a crushing victory in his time, but it cost him his voice. The creatures are still at large and are growing stronger every day.

  • Real Name: Cain Adamson
  • Superhero Name: Kaine (Why deny the edge?)
  • Age: Tired Old ManTM
  • Appearance: Old man. He deliberately wears a silver crucifix sometimes to mock his lesser kin's weaknesses.
  • Personality: Cain can easily come across as abrasive and a little bit rude, and he doesn't deny it. He treats everything as a hassle, but that's just an act at this point. It's when he doesn't complain that one knows something is serious. Even if he cares a lot about someone, he takes special care not to reveal it. Cain can be very stubborn and confrontational sometimes. He dislikes people who try to tell him what is "good" and what is "evil," but he often ends up doing good anyways "according to his own desires." He can't stop. It's part of who he is. He's Cain, no more, no less.
  • Powers:
    • PROGENITOR ALPHA: Cain carries the supernatural virus that would "later" branch into the types that made vampires and were-animals, and as such has increased strength, speed, stamina, and endurance, along with slightly increased senses from it. However, his version is the "unevolved" version, so his powers are weaker and have not developed into their stronger versions yet. Thus, Cain has none of the typical vampiric powers, but has none of the weaknesses, either. However, he is able to control vampires and were-animals by giving them commands while making eye contact with them, with only the particularly strong-willed ones being able to break out of his control. His mere presence cows the more weak-willed of his lesser kin. He loses all his enhancements if he doesn't regularly consume blood, but it's more like a necessary dietary supplement anyways. He has the requisite blood-drawing natural weapons such as fangs and sharp claws instead of fingernails for this purpose.
    • Curse of Cain: If an attack is made against Cain with killing intent behind it (specifically directed at him) and the attack connects, the damage is reflected. However, this can be easily mitigated by the attack not being a direct one (i.e. a ricochet or a bomb producing shrapnel). Armor and natural resistances also help mitigate damage. Although Cain has a vampiric healing factor that can be sped up if he drinks blood, he can still feel pain, and enough accumulated damage can indeed kill him. The easiest way to do so is to send mindless artificial being such as golems and robots after him. The curse is indicated by an ancient murderer's brand on his forehead.
  • Gear:
    • Blade Made of a Brother's Bones: This is an eight-inch tactical knife, but the blade is noticably made of human bone. This knife can bypass the natural immunities of supernatural beings (even divine ones) in addition to being extremely sharp. This would be incredibly powerful if not for the fact that it's a dinky little knife, not even a sword or anything like that. Cain has to get real up close and personal in battle to use it. He's managed to somewhat counter this weakness by getting very good at knife-fighting in his long life. He can recall this knife back into his hand with but a thought whenever he throws it, and it always returns without fail in a flash of red light.
  • Backstory: Cain is the titular Cain from the Biblical stories, except he did not willingly kill his brother Abel. He was infected by a strange virus from an unknown source (Cain believes that his Grandfather deliberately did this in order to teach humanity a lesson about murder because it "would have happened anyways" and somebody needed to be turned into the villain of a cautionary tale in order to be the one to continuously test humanity's morals and determination by spreading the dual "curses" of vampirism and were-animalism; if Cain didn't become the first murderer, Abel would have in self-defense), and went mad with blood-thirst under its effects. He willingly accepted his punishment and Mark in order to atone for his apparent misdeed. The story was eventually changed to its current edition because of a conspiracy engineered by vampires to hide their existence. He has hunted his kin through the ages—those that have been sadistic or given to excess, anyways—and recently decided to go on a bit of a sabbatical by joining the Saint Foundation.

You know what? What the heck. I’ll do this anyway.

———

Real Name: Abigail Aldridge

Superhero Name: Nightshade

Age: 21

Appearance: Abigail Aldridge is an average looking girl, inheriting her family’s pale skin, but sporting dark auburn hair, that is decently kemp. The only remotely supernatural thing about her is most likely her eyes, which are pitch black, and seem to “glow” darkness, affecting the area around them much in the way a softly glowing light would, only darkening instead of glowing. Though she generally tries to, and does a good job of, hiding them, she has a bunch of very bad scars around her knees, as well as a large black stab wound over her heart, that occasionally seems to leak shadows. She has a tendency to wear darker clothes, though she can often be found in a simple pair of jeans and a black or grey T-shirt. Her hero costume is fairly basic, composing of a simple, grey looking cloak. This cloak falls down to her feet, and conceals her face. Beneath her coat, albeit completely concealed, she wears black jeans, a black tank-top, and black dress shoes.

Personality: Abigail generally has a habit of coming across as a very bitter person, though this is only because she is one. She is often very cruel, cynical, and sarcastic, especially when interacting with strangers or others who she is less familiar with. When in the presence of someone who she considers an enemy, she goes from cruel to outright jerk, insulting and outright attacking them even though unprovoked. This is exaggerated even more whenever she comes in contact with her cousin, Kano Agano, immediately becoming enraged and attacking him, whilst insulting him the entire time. Conflicts between the two often result in a heavy amount of collateral damage. Although she comes off as a jerk, there are hints of a genuinely kind person if one were to get to know her enough. She holds a great disdain towards her own powers, though also believes them to be superior to others.

Powers: Abigails power allow her to manipulate, and control shadows, as well as create her own shadows and manipulate those. The darker the shadow, the more powerful and solid it is, though the shadows she generates are generally more powerful than anything created naturally, save those found at night or in completely unlit areas. She primarily manipulates these shadows by forming them into tendrils, and then slicing or smashing her foes. Although her powers supposedly give her control over “shadows” this pretty much extends to any dark area, making her powers much more powerful at night. She can also generate pure darkness from her person, taking the form of tendrils. She can manipulate these tendrils with much greater ease than normal shadows, and prefers attacking with these tendrils as opposed to natural darkness. Tendrils formed from her person “glow” much in the same vein as her eyes.

Gear: Her cloak, although it looks fairly regular, is actually very durable, being able to withstand gunfire, while also being very light

Backstory: Abigail Aldridge is the only daughter of Anthony Aldridge, and Katherine Aldridge, formerly Katherine Agano. Her mother’s family had a long line of superheroes, each one inheriting a shared superpower, however, for reasons unknown, this power skipped Katherine, and wasn’t inherited by Abigail. This enraged both of Abigail’s parents, and drove them to find powers elsewhere. In a desperate plea, the two parents attempted to make a pact with any entity that would hear, and sacrificed their daughters life in the hopes that it would be exchanged for power. One entity did hear their plea, in fact, The Grim Reaper. Upon examining the murdered child, The Reaper, feeling pity for her, shredded the two parents, and restored Abigail to life. This in turn gave Abigail her powers.

Miscellaneous:

  • Abigail’s grandfather is also Kano’s uncle, technically making her his first cousin removed.
  • The scars on Abigail’s knees were given to her by Kano when he severed her patellar tendon. Because of this injury, Abigail can no longer walk, and relies on her powers for transportation.
  • An unfortunate side effect of her powers affects her sight. Because of how she processes light, the brighter or more illuminated an area is, the harder it is for her to see, and vice versa. Because of this she is usually mostly blind, and relies on her powers to feel around her. Although a bright fog lamp might be able to completely blind her, due to the light flooding, vantablack and other extreme light absorbing substances actually hurt her eyes, and damage her vision, much like the sun would to us.

  • Real Name: Martin Snow

  • Superhero Name: Paragon

  • Age: 21

  • Appearance: Tall and lean with a mess of blonde hair atop his head. When not in his costume he can be found with a button up shirt tucked into brown slacks. His costume is a red and blue full body suit with a cape over his shoulders. Plastered across every inch of the costume are various charities made out in solid black as to be easily seen against the colors of his suit. He carries a first aid kit on his hip.

  • Personality: Kind and gentle despite his power Martin is the kind of guy who can get along with almost everyone. His forgiving nature and positive outlook can make him come across as naive to some, but despite that he continues to give all he can for the world at large. However he holds quite a bit of self doubt, constantly judging himself harshly on what could be done better rather then celebrating his victories.

  • Powers: The ability to enhance himself through heroic deeds, or more accurately the more heroic deeds that Paragon performs the stronger he becomes. Speed, strength, sight, hearing, and durability all increase to an order of magnitude by percentage. This caps out at 100%, where his abilities begin to strain against Martin's body and runs the risk of a great deal of internal trauma due to harnessing to much energy. After about a minute of use at this level his body will forcibly shut itself down and put him into a catatonic state until he can naturally heal himself. While theorized that he could reach beyond 100% by performing a large scale operation this has yet to be tested, as doing so would involve too much risk on those studying it and Martin's body. While previously containing the power of a goddess known as Love Martin's powers have returned to their previous state. Whether he still has access to these divine powers or not is still unknown.

  • Gear: A first aid kit filled with various first response tools.

  • Backstory: Martin was a fairly typical kid during the age of supers, admiring the greats and watching various battles on the news as the heroes faced off against the seemingly unstoppable foes the universe threw at them. Even from that young age he decided that he wanted to be a hero and sought to emulate the best qualities of the people he looked up to. Throughout most of his childhood Martin could be found helping around the neighborhood with every little task that could be needed. If there was a cliche a hero might be found doing you could usually find him in the process of it. Helping old ladies across the street, mowing the lawns of neighbors, even going so far as to help get kittens out of trees with the gusto of a possessed person.

It is unknown exactly how his powers developed, whether it is a natural phenomenon or some strange form of esp allowing him to convert emotional energy into raw force. But the day they first activated was one that he will always remember. There was a fire and first responders were blocked due to a mass prison riot on the other side of the city. Driven by his desires he dived into the inferno and pulled out a number of those trapped inside. Each time he dove back in he seemed to come out faster, lifter heavier things, find those trapped. However during his rush he hit his limit and fell unconscious, his face landing on a superheated piece of metal. Thankfully he was then saved by a hero who had broken away from the battle to help local rescue operations.

Despite his injuries that day Martin has no other wish then to continue his dream of being a hero, however he had cooled a bit and likes to think he is a more rational person. That being said he repeat his actions again at the drop of a hat, so odds are that he hasn't.

After Saint's death Martin has found himself more driven then ever to try and make the world a better place, but at the moment doesn't believe the current organizations for future heroes are up to snuff, and wants to make a better future with a new generation of heroes.

After a battle against his alternate reality self Martin had his memory erased to the point before he entered into Saint's Academy, but still retained his training and skill gained from his various learning and fighting. After a years break to retrain himself Martin had returned to the field, through at this point he only has knowledge of his previous memories, but hasn't regained them himself.

Be better, because what is the harm in trying?

    • Civilian clothing: Olive t-shirt, grey hoodie, navy sweatpants, running shoes, and mirrorshades to cover his eyes.

    • Electrokinesis: Locke can generate and manipulate lightning and electricity using his mind, and use this power to give himself added speed by powering electrical devices on high superhero outfit.
    • Pyrokinesis: Locke can generate and manipulate flames using his mind, and even use this power to enhance his strength via technology on his superhero outfit.
    • Fragokinesis: As a result of mixing Pyrokinesis and Electrokinesis, Locke can generate explosions that contain a mix of fire and lightning. He can even condense the explosion into a concealed object, serving as a makeshift time bomb.

    • A well-crafted saber.
    • Painkillers.
    • Rounds meant for disabling a target, rather than killing them for each gun.
    • A variety of containers to be used as makeshift time bombs.
  • Backstory: Due to his family's involvement with the scientific community curious about the nature of superheroes, he was used as an experiment that wanted to test if two powers could be mixed and be combined, which worked, and he got sweet powers because of it while only having to sit through one extreme burst of pain. Or at least, that's what the public was told. In reality, Locke's parents were killed and he was taken hostage as a guinea pig for the scientists' twisted experiments, the previous experiment being one of them, except it was meant to see how a weaker body would react to being suddenly injected with powers. He ended up escaping by causing a massive explosion using his fragokinesis, which allowed him to live his life as a free citizen.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • He likes to sing when he has free time to do so.
    • Surprisingly, he can play the piano.
    • As a result of his powers being forced upon him suddenly, he feels random bursts of pain similar to the one when he was first given his powers, due to his body not being fully adapted to the change, although the pain isn't as extreme.

[up]Uh, yeah. Sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to edit it a bit. There are some things that should probably be fleshed out more, and a couple other things that need to be changed.

Key points:

  • Needs an actual appearance.
  • Needs more than one sentence for his personality. He doesn't need to be that complex, but he should have a bit more to work with.
  • Backstory needs to be fleshed out more. Why was he an experiment? Who was he before that? Who experimented on him? *Why* did they experiment on him? How did he get free of whoever experimented on him? What effect did that 'extreme burst of pain' have on him, have on him, if any? And what did he do after the experiment? These are all questions that need to be answered.
  • I don't mind the guns, but make sure there aren't any live rounds. The setting may not be sunshine and rainbows, but you're still supposed to be heroes. That means that outside of extreme situations or the occasional warzone, you shouldn't be using lethal force unless absolutely necessary.

Real Name: Gita Leight

Superhero Name: Synesthesia

Age: 21

Appearance: 5'4 with a somewhat stocky build, medium-brown skin with red undertones, curly black hair kept short with shaved sides, brown eyes.

  • Civilian clothes: Gita is into the whole new wave/soft grunge/vaporwave look, so expect lots of grid patterns and graphic tees featuring weird geometric shapes, classical art, and/or characters from anime that ended long before they were born.
  • Supersuit: Black full-body suit (excluding head and fingers) with a Teletubby-esque screen on the chest displaying equalizers that correspond to the song they're listening to. As for accessories, they wear gradient combat boots (sky-blue -> teal -> purple) and a wicked-cool visor (think Garnet's visor but colored more like oilslick).

Personality: Very much a right-brain-dominant person, Gita is really enthusiastic about the arts and is an overall easygoing person. Their main motivations for becoming a hero are both for the fun of it and a genuine drive to make the world a better place.

Powers:

  • Hard-light projection: Gita has the ability to conjure hard-light forms with their mind (not unlike Jubilee or Dazzler for you X-Men fans), both concrete and abstract. However, this power seems to be tied intrinsically with their chromesthesia, as these constructs can only be summoned while Gita is listening to music, and the music affects what kind of form the hard light takes on.

  • Hovering: This is more of a secondary power, but Gita can float several meters off the ground. This too is dependent on the music they listen to.

Gear:

  • Headphones: Noise-cancelling, Bluetooth-connected. Gita is always seen wearing these, whether on their ears or around their neck.
  • Song-selection bangle: Worn on Gita's left forearm while in hero mode, has a touchscreen interface that accesses playlists that can be sent to their headphones.

Backstory: Born as the only superhuman in a non-powered family, Gita's powers manifested at a young age. At first, their projections were rather chaotic, as many toddlers' imaginations are, and triggered by a multitude of sounds. Over the years, however, they learned to limit the activation of their powers to music, which they now have full control over come adulthood.

Miscellaneous:

  • Although Gita does have a traditionally feminine name and responds to she/her, they are (is?) nonetheless non-binary and reacts more positively to they/them.
  • Gita's chromesthesia is a co-morbidity of their Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which is why cancelling out other sounds was so difficult for them at first.
  • Gita is an independently-produced DJ who is often seen at various nightclubs on the weekends when not doing hero stuff.
  • They have lots of playlists for many occasion such as sleeping, studying, ass-whooping, etc.

  1. Real Name: Mahvash Matten Mattiuza
  2. Superhero Name: Same as her chosen name. Or nothing at all to those who never get to learn her name. Or Druj Mahvash to those she's condescending (or being formal) to.
  3. Age: Appears 20s And about 3199. Its complex
  4. Appearance/Presentation: Mahvash's favorite humanoid manifestation is a towering, dusky woman with hair blacker than vantablack, which seems to fade into her body and the environment and a halo that's even darker note . She's freezing cold to the touch, and light dims alot in her presence. Yet, she has very bright if cold blue eyes. She'll rarely be seen with a posture between rigidly poised and Limp and Livid, and her breathing and heartbeat are social not signs of life. They stay regular unless she declines to breathe or mimic a heartbeat. Mahvash's uniform varies, but she favors a formal suit and an embroidered tailcoat. And no shoes, even when walking over jagged rocks. Occasionally, she eschews clothes and arrives in a 'uniform' of glorified aura. Or a cloud of darkness dragging limbs. It depends.
  5. Personality: Mahvash helping the people of Super City and, more precisely, her Iridium Wonders, Shirin, and their allies and homes comes more from 'nobility' than 'goodness'. She acts pseudo-aristocratic enough of the time, including the noblesse oblige, and even approaches enemies with Sugary Malice. She barely has a capacity to hate even. As is the norm (with her 'kin'), she doesn't fundamentally want anything or still less need anything. Her sense of ethics comes from her A God Am I attitude. She came with perks and responsibility, but she knows life is a Wide Open Sand Box with its endless possibilities and so will still do anything, that won't offend her duties. Between 'godly responsibility' and her own experience, she'll never retire nor shut down.
  6. Powers: Mahvash is a practiced mage of her people's school. She has mastery of her domain, and her person and powerful aura are poisonous to creation. She tends to use her eldritch body and aura for Variant Power Copying. In raw form, at range, her wisps of aura thoroughly 'cleans' her surroundings, making life and magics wither away. Her touch undoes spacetime, something she exploits for special and often bizarre movements, or when she wants to just appear. As a daeva, she's needless, has no vital organs or cellular processes to protect, and doesn't eat or breath but to be social (and food can be good) or absorb enemies. Her sense of touch is her main method of sensing the world and therefore highly developed in comparison to her sight. She can feel things out with great accuracy and at great range. She's sensitive, of course, on the spiritual level, but Mahvash can read much more from people who voluntarily give her access to their souls. Naturally, she can manage godly basics like sensing people saying her name or requesting her aid, rendering said 'divine' aid, or creating 'holy' ground.
  7. Weaknesses: The daevas' enemy gave fire to humans to combat them, and Mahvash is no exception. Her aura's range is sharply reduced in the presence of a blaze and the flames themselves protect anything behind them. Further, she can't enter into or exit from an area immersed in flames by her peculiar means. Atar makes those penalties worse. Magic attacks are more effective at stunning her than physical, even if the incompatibility goes both waysnote . And when injured, her healing only looks automatic. As she eventually told Martin and he forgot, she doesn't heal. Her cuts and wounds are cosmetic but the damage is there. It takes her time to move things around to use an undamaged bit of body or build something functional but at some, unpredictable point she'd just drop dead disappear. White magic would definitely not heal her. Nor would modern medicine. And she gets no second chances. Anything that kills her leaves her Ret-Gone. In short, the universe has quite the immune response to her presence. As for stealth, the dimming effect, the irrepressible halo make that difficult and her Magic Is a Monster Magnet. On the other end, a mage surrounded by his/her own constructs could blend in with them, for they'd feel similar and Mahvash would not actually see him/her.
  8. Gear: Mahvash carries around her bronze mirror, decorated and perfumed handfans/warfans, and a chain.
  9. Story thus Far: Mahvash and her 'parents' are in an odd, circular relationship. long version . When the chief left her to her own devices on Earth, she was content enough patronizing the House Mattiuza, but, after the Gaea campaign and especially Saint's death, well, there is a void in the fragile world order. Most recently, the hollowed out Super City and the decimated security forces gave her the opportunity to give Shirin's people pulpits in key positions rebuilding, spread her following, and find alot of hitherto hidden and guarded things in the city. And, also while rebuilding, she took the time to promote her Iridium Wonders' in the eyes of the planet they defended, take a heavy role in the rebuilding efforts, keep contact with the police and soldiers who fought in the recent incidents, and check on her newly raised paladin. She's rarely idle.
  10. Miscellaneous: Her constant desire to make each moment fulfilling can mean that she'll never happily sit still and may take the direct route to issues, but it's also motivated her to be quite the renaissance woman.

Real Name: Vivian Courthope

Superhero Name: Heavyweight

Age: 22

Appearance: Nowadays Vivian is a tall, wiry blond woman with short hair and almost startlingly blue eyes, similar to a husky dog. Heavily tatted (small blue stars on her earlobes, a black rose on her left hand, and a PA Dutch hex symbol on her neck to start) usually wearing a purple/red check car coat and a pewter-gray military beret with flash over a variety of dress shirts, slacks, and ties.

Personality: Viv will be the first to tell you she's something of a hedonist, though not perhaps in those words. “Hungry for experiences” might be more accurate. She’s also one who *loves* a good fight…or a dirty one. Vivian is also apt to devour and seek out anything that might help her to be a better hero. This twin drive to be better and try new things can make her come off as strong-willed, reckless, fearless, and a Blood Knight...and she’d tell you that’s accurate as well. Deep insecurity about herself and a certain brutal practicality doesn’t help matters. Balancing this is loyalty, an equally deep desire to help people and look after those who likewise feel down or worthless. Vivian hates a bully, and the surest way to receive a surprise boot to the throat is to come across as arrogant, overbearing or stuck on yourself. She also goes all to pieces around most animals and can be quite silly to amuse herself at the drop of a hat.

Powers:

Physical Perfection: The new Vivian Courthope enjoys a body that is at the very pinnacle of human achievement as far as strength, speed, reflexes, durability, stamina, and endurance. She is capable of feats surpassing professional athletes with little strain, and can work at a high level for an extended period of time.

Healing Factor: While not as powerful as some others, Vivian’s enhanced body allows her to recover from wounds at an accelerated rate. A broken finger, for example, will be whole within 24 hours if still tender. Also obviously resistance to pain, poison/toxins, and maladies.

Magic Potential: Viv has a newly opened channel to elemental magic, though it’s much more limited than others. Also, some dormant spiritual senses.

2nd Wind: By touching someone, Vivian can accelerate their healing somewhat. It also provides a boost/pick-me-up similar to a cup of coffee, a great meal and good night’s sleep. This rush will eventually fade, but it is euphoric and can prove addictive.

Gear:

Armor: Heavyweight usually wears a highly-advanced set of light combat armor panels under her clothes that increase her durability tenfold. She also has small parts (earbud, contact lenses, ect) fitted with various sensors that boost her sight, hearing, etc. to a higher level. Gloves and boots are likewise reinforced.

Weapons: Vivian wears a special harness designed by Mason that allows her to carry multiple weapons at one time with no fear of encumbrance or confusion. She tends to feel that being prepared is the best strategy and usually tries to be a walking armory. While she doesn’t love guns Viv will admit that they’re useful and sometimes fun. These rotate out as needed and the only constant is that she’ll have a small pistol hidden up her sleeve on a spring. Guns of course are only used on unliving enemies or with specialty rounds such as Dragonfire.

Another recent acquisition is a buckler shield made out of titanium and graphite. This both offers her additional protection but can be used to increase the power of her blows and to bind up enemies in melee combat and usually combined with a nasty-looking rapier & dagger set she found in Libya. Various knives, throwing and otherwise and a stinger self-defense whip are also present. Viv also often carries a collapsible bow and quiver of various arrows also designed by Mason. This more for the challenge than anything else. Lastly, a set of brass knuckles, though these are more for intimidation than anything else.

Skills: Vivian is skilled and experienced in many forms of combat and armed weaponry. She also knows her way around some machinery and robotics.

Backstory: Vivian Courthope has had perhaps the most chaotic backstory among the current generation of heroes. Selected and trained from a young age by the legendary Deathknell to be his successor, Vivian trained hard and absorbed a wide array of skills by the time she decided to attend the University. It seemed like a logical move after she’d gained a little experience on her own and had some suspicions about Deathknell’s ultimate goal.

Once she’d arrived at the school, however, she was abruptly confronted with her own (in her eyes) uselessness in the face of the amazing powers possessed by her classmates. This also whetted the distrust of powered folk that had been inculcated by Deathknell’s teachings. Despite these problems, she was able to somewhat hold her own and even make some new friends. Near the end of the year, the city was attacked by the gathered forces of an anti-metahuman organization called Gaia. During the ensuing battle, Vivian tracked down and killed a powerful member of the Alternativerse Army. She then stole his Suit of powered armor and proceeded to battle within it throughout the rest of the incident. This satisfied her greatly, and from then on, the Suit was her pride and joy, absorbing countless hours of work and tinkering. Sadly, she did suffer from hideous nightmares from then on regarding the man she’d killed, an event that was likely a deciding factor in her later decisions and personality traits.

Her recklessness and desire for improvement, however, soon reared their heads yet again. Blinded by these flaws, she caused several incidents that could easily have been avoided and drew reprimands from her teachers and classmates. Vivian resolved to be more careful and thoughtful in her actions, but the seed of doubt had been planted. In the coming struggles, Vivian again and again questioned her abilities and if even the Suit was enough to make her feel like a valuable teammate. The arrival of the mechanical hero Holiday likewise fueled her insecurity, leading her to develop a characteristically rash plan: the transference of her mind into a more powerful robotic body.

Stealing and smuggling the parts she needed, Vivian was able to assemble a machine based on others she’d seen at the Foundation, as well as a suitable vessel for transference. The work was laborious and involved making deals with unsavory characters, but her obsession kept her charging forward no matter the obstacles. She didn’t even stop to consider the cautionary advice offered by Armada, the resident tech expert (and an android herself) of the Foundation.

Then, paranoid that the metallic woman might try to further talk her out of her plan or otherwise stop her, Vivian flung herself into the transfer machine during a particularly chaotic time. In one sense it was successful: her self was totally and cleanly shifted from her human body to a (superior in her mind) mechanical one. Unfortunately, the rush made the equipment misfire. Her human body was still alive and conscious but terribly crippled and burned. Unwilling to leave her previous self in such a state, Vivian euthanized it with her new steel hands.

After a period of enjoyment and settling in passed, Vivian began to perceive the drawbacks of her form, as well as her (self-perceived) uselessness on a team with two other robot lasses. She still bent her mind to improving it and managed to overcome her neuroses for a while with help from the Foundation's psychologist Laurie. She even turned down an offer by the resident woman of mystery Mahvash to shift her back into a spare human form. Matters were only made worse by her trip into an alternate dimension ruled by an Evil Saint where she was forced to come up against another version of herself, who was by all accounts a gleeful and unrepentant psychopath. The fact that she felt an immediate kinship and sympathy for the other woman was a shock to the system. Following their battle and escape back to her own dimension with her classmates, Vivian sought out Mahvash and decided to now take her up on her offer of a new body. This shell would be much more physically capable than her old human one. The predicted counter-attack by the Anti-Saint’s forces offered a prime chance for her to show off her new skills and gifts, and Vivian took full advantage.

Now a year older, the hero known as Heavyweight has spent her time traveling and further honing her new body into a living weapon. From taking on hostage rescue missions for the FBI to investigating rumors of a dimensional door in Libya to engaging in unregulated powered combat for charity, Vivian seems to be letting her hedonistic desires and love of combat run wild.
