MOD NOTE: TROPES BLANKET-BANNED FROM HAVING VIDEO EXAMPLES:
- Attempted Rape
- Bound and Gagged
- Epileptic Flashing Lights
- Jump Scare
- Nocturnal Emission
- Pooping Where You Shouldn't
- Potty Failure
- Sensory Abuse
- Screamer Prank
It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

The audio is indeed muffled. I think there's a problem with the audio channels. I don't know if it's corrupted enough to warrant removal though.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Well a removal should be considered at the very least that’s all.
So the recent Zootopia video example for Caught on Tape I watched it and I can tell the audio is out of sync so I believe it should be removed.
Ask here then.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessBoth the video examples for Not Distracted by the Sexy are wrong. The trope is supposed to be about Stripperiffic outfits being treated normal attire. Instead both of the video examples are about failed seductions attempts which is Ignore The Fan Service
So I had a kind of wacky idea. For tropes with video examples either banned or prone to misuse (Getting Crap Past the Radar), or for works that attract copyright-violating uploads (Pro ZD), what if we upload a "Read Before Uploading" video to the section that simply spells out a message explaining the issue with videos for that trope/work? We could source it to one of the Administrivia/ pages about video sources or something, and we could make a "Video Examples" section for a dummy page to upload videos for problematic works.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. You add videos from the trope page, not the work page, right? That means it could only work for tropes; for works, someone could add a video without encountering any other videos from that source.
Hence why I suggested a locked "dummy page," presumably on Main/, where we tack on a short statement explaining why we have certain videos there, and then we use that page to upload the videos and tag it to problematic works. Anybody checking the video page for that work (which I'd assume they'd do before uploading their own video for a trope) would thus see the warning video.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoExamples/WandaVisionEpisode2DontTouchThatDial
The WandaVision clip in that video looks so choppy, that you can't even see Vision finish drawing the heart. This version of the clip moves more smoothly.
Is one of the examples on Hopeless Boss Fight permissible under spoiler rules? It's the example entitled "You Would Be Wise To Surrender" from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The problem is the fact that the clip comes from the Post-Final Boss, encompassing the final playable stretch before the ending, featuring no spoiler warnings anywhere.
I second my belief that spoilery videos are okay if there's a spoiler warning in the title, thumbnail, and/or description. But this video needs at least one of those.
On another note, should sliding scales get video examples? I saw that Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration has one when Snipertoaster brought up its lack of a source.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. In regards to the sliding scale video... dunno, really. I only brought that up because it was a video that lacked a source.
I thought that a sliding scale couldn't be demonstrated terribly well by a video myself, and even then, I'd argue that the video doesn't demonstrate the trope well at all.
Let's ignore that the video isn't from a game (it's from the anime of the game) for now. Pichu evolves into Pikachu with The Power of Friendship via a strong bond with its trainer. But you need to know that for the video in question to make any kind of sense, and that's not made clear anywhere in the video, description or title.

I was going to upload a Red Vs Blue video for The Oner (one long unbroken camera shot), but noticed that an almost identical video exists for Brother–Sister Team. (The video titled "North and South Dakota".) It's basically the same as what I was planning to upload, but with a few extra seconds on the beginning and end, which I left out of mine to avoid including camera cuts.
They're definitely an example of Brother–Sister Team in that video, but it only demonstrates the "team" part and not the sibling part.
Should the existing video be kept? If so, should I bother to upload my version, or should The Oner be added as a source for the existing video?
The Jinx has to be a character, right? Because the Donkey Kong Country video is about an item that brings bad luck.
SoundCloudRemove.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”The trope outright states that items belong under Bad Luck Charm.
Then just move.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessRequesting that the video for Expy with Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Lord Protector from Wolfwalkers should be removed. It's a pretty clear misuse of the trope since 1. a character has to be confirmed by the creators to be an expy of another character and they can't just happen to be similar, and 2. the Lord Protector can't be an expy of Frollo since he's already a Historical Domain Character who's based on Oliver Cromwell.
Edited by Oecchi on Apr 19th 2021 at 1:03:32 PM
A character doesn't have to be confirmed to be an expy if it's blatant enough, but if he's explicitly based on another character then you're right he can't be an expy of Frollo.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The video on Mighty Whitey is misplaced. The trope is about a member of an advanced race becoming the leader of a less civilized race/tribe. However, the video demonstrates White Man's Burden, a white guy being an agent for the less privileged.
The video's quality is quite poor either way, and it's quite obviously a recording of a Youtube video due to the suggested video thing popping up on the top.
back lolThe clips from Black Panther (2018) and The Lord of the Rings on Opening Narration are actually examples of Opening Monologue. We defined Opening Narration as solely applying for serial works.
Technically, Lord of the Rings is a trilogy, so it could be considered a serial work if it's at the start of the first movie, right?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
Perhaps you are right, but you do think it should be removed because its audio does sound somewhat off.
