Self-Insert Fic, the page, is not formatted like a genre page.
Actually, I'm starting to wonder if it's too overwhelmed with Early-Installment Weirdness and might need a trip to TRS...
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. It's not indexed as a genre, it's under Fanfic Tropes. (Which may benefit from a hard split if we treat certain fanfic tropes as genres...)
Anyway, I assume troping any fic as Self-Insert Fic that doesn't have some sort of author confirmation that it's a self-insert would be speculative troping, so if you've ever made it clear to your audience that your OC is a self-insert, you can just say that. Maybe explain any traits you projected if they're something your fans would know, like a similar name, or other fandoms you're in that your character likes.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe."Original Character who may or may not be based on the author (though everyone will assume they are) gets thrust into the world of the video game or whatever" is a genre for sure, as is "OC who &c&c was always part of the world and joins the canon characters to experience new adventures". And "... to re-experience canon adventures."
"Story centering on a character that is approximately a fictionalized version of the author" is... not quite a genre, I don't think.
Self-Insert Fic currently seems to be describing specifically the intersection of paragraph 2 with one or more of the items in paragraph 1.
Though it also has Twilight listed as an example due primarily to similarities in appearance between Bella and Meyer...

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. How is it not??? Sounds like a genre to me, and genres typically aren't treated like tropes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYeah, I think it's conflating the trope "character blatantly based on the author" with the various fanfic genres this trope most commonly appears in. TRS?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Yes. Cleanup options can be discussed there.
I'm back!Threw it on the sandbox.
Rock'n'roll never dies! What about the Films - Live-Action section of National Geographic Nudity, which has quite a number of ZCEs.
Should they be cut or elaborated?
Kirby is awesome.Assuming you can’t expand upon them yourself, hide them with the usage of double-percent signs (like %%).
back lolThey should be commented out, and a commented note similar to the following one should be left at the top of the page.
All such examples have been commented out.
You are free to restore them, but only if you expand them and provide sufficient context.
See Zero-Context Example for more information.
I have commented out some of the obvious ZCEs and added a note at the top of the page.
It would be great to have another person checking it.

Kirby is awesome.Characters.Mandibles has a really bad ZCE problem. Most of the entries just name tropes without even trying to explain them.
EDIT:At least 7 of the 9 examples on Manga.Seitokaichou Ni Chuukoku are ZCE. Should I cutlist it?

I'm back!Fixed the character page for Unchained Blades as much as I can. May need another runaround after researching the characters a bit more.
Drinking Game, take a shot every time you see a ZCE here on this page.
PS: Last Edit was a year ago, so...

Oh my, this one's better....
A Taiwanese film whose page was last edited in 2014. Who's gonna fix this?
I need your help with The Stockholms I fixed the two examples already but I don't know how to fix other examples. Including a few examples in character page.
“Boom! Boomboom! Boomboomboom! Bakuage Tire! Gogogo!"Is the following example that was added to one of the Warhammer 40,000 pages zero context, it seems a bit to vague for my liking but I am unsure.
- Hidden Depths: There have been a number of hints that suggest Leman Russ's outward appearance as an uncultured barbarian king is an elaborate facade, which hides a much more intellectual side of him.
Edited by SebastianGray on Oct 6th 2020 at 6:50:41 PM
What are those hints? Do you know the work well enough to elaborate on that?
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Unfortunately that is one of the parts of the game's lore that I am behind on. The example saying "there are hints" without saying what those hints are is why I thought it could be a ZCE.
You're right, that's a ZCE.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Cool, I'll comment it out and send a notifier to the troper that added it. (I've been accused of being a little overzealous in commenting out ZCEs in the past so I like to get a second opinion on ones I am a bit unsure of)
Sliding Scale of Villain Threat has a major ZCE problem caused by a non-compliant page format. See here for more details.
I'm back! While resuming cleanup on Adorkable, I notice that a lot of the Big Brother pages have severe redundant Entry Pimping and Minimal Context Example issues. A quick sample slice from Big Brother 11, with the only decent examples in bold:
- Adorkable: Kevin is highly intelligent and offbeat but also rather loveable.
- Ambiguously Brown: Averted like the others. Kevin said he is half Japanese, half African American in the premier.
- Ascended Fanboy: Stated that he had wanted to be on the show numerous times.
- Asian and Nerdy: Kevin is intelligent and quirky.
- Badass Adorable: Offbeat and quirky, Kevin is very lovable and endearing.
- Badass Bookworm: Kevin is smart, intelligent and strategic.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Kevin tends to behave in a nice manner, but when he learned he was Ronnie's puppet, he was outraged and cussing him out and leaning into him and even forcing him backward.
- Black and Nerdy: Also counts, as he is half African American.
- Born Unlucky: Kevin had a lot of bad luck in the game. Not to mention that Kevin made it all the way to the Final 3 and was one spot short of having a chance to win half a million dollars.
- But Not Too Black: Kevin is only half black (he is also half Asian).
- The Chessmaster: Kevin is one of the smartest and most strategic players in the game.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Convinced Jeff and Jordan to pick up the Idiot Ball, won the next Head of Household challenge, then proceeded to get Jeff evicted from the house, who was clearly going to win.
- Camp Gay: Definitely a cross between this and Straight Gay.
- Co-Dragons: With Chima for Natalie, who becomes the Big Bad later on in the season.
- Deadpan Snarker: Kevin was one of the more witty and humorous houseguests of the season.
- Disc Four Final Boss: Kevin is evicted at Final 3.
- The Dog Bites Back: After Jeff made comments towards him that were not so nice, Kevin returned the favour by voting to evict him by his own hand.
- The Dragon: For Natalie.
- Gay Best Friend: To Lydia, Chima and Natalie.
- Geek: It's obvious by looking at him.
- Geek Physique: Kevin is of the skinny variation.
Edited by AlleyOop on Oct 7th 2020 at 4:55:54 AM
The Chessmaster doesn't explain how Kevin is one. That said, you could probably combine it with what was noted in Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass just below it.
Something like:
- The Chessmaster: Kevin is one of the smartest and most strategic players in the game. For example, he convinced Jeff and Jordan to pick up the Idiot Ball, won the next Head of Household challenge, then proceeded to get Jeff evicted from the house, who was clearly going to win.
(I don't watch the show, so more details or corrections could be added.)

Isn't it a genre?
