So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
Was that gushing? I don't know that you'd use words like "pathetic" and "failure of a human being" describing something positive. Sounds a little backhanded to me.
Optimism is a duty.I recognize the trend of editing, and in this context, it's gushing about how "complex" Nostalgia Chick is as a character, basically saying she's better than other female characters because she has flaws. It's not really good at explaining how dynamic she is, though.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I considered the last sentence gushing: "While it might not sound like a good thing, ask yourself, how many female characters do we have like that?"
I just saw the Fate Of The Furious main page, and the way people are using loads of bold and italics markup and all-caps suggests that we probably should take a look at these places for gushing.
Just as a taste:

Optimism is a duty. This entry from GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff.Web Original isn't too bad, until the last line.
- The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is quite popular in the United Kingdom, despite it being a heavily Americanized version of one of U.K.'s classic and beloved novels. The character of Lydia Bennet in particular is considered way Better Than Canon there (and pretty much everywhere else who knows about the source material).

Found this on Trivia.System Of A Down:
- What Could Have Been - System of a Down is the 2000's version of Soundgarden, in terms of a band that disbanded at roughly the height of its popularity. In many respects, rock music has still not fully recovered from SOAD's split. Rock radio fractured into a mix of post-grunge interchangables and Guns N' Roses imitators. The rise of Guitar Hero, coupled with the return or reforming of veteran bands that preceded SOAD (Metallica, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden) just about saved the hard rock format from being wiped from the radio dial in the late 2000's.
Was System of a Down really that popular? I find it hard to believe that a single band disbanding could have that big of an influence on mainstream radio. The end of the example kinda disproves the first part anyway, it ends up making the whole thing sound like "rock music could have died with SOAD as long as you ignore all these other rock bands that were still active at the time."
Also, there are sub-bullets that get real natter-y, but I didn't include them here.
I can't even tell what they were referring to that could have been, so the whole thing could probably just be cut for misuse.
SoundCloudI'm also dubious as to whether the reason The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is well liked is because of that specific reason. Like, I don't doubt there's a following in the UK, but saying that people consider it Better Than Canon seems like a stretch.
The entry doesn't say that, though. It says that the character of Lydia is considered Better Than Canon. I haven't seen Diaries, but in the original novel, Lydia is a shallow teenager who runs away with and marries a scoundrel, causing a lot of trouble for the heroes. It's not hard to believe that the entry is substantially correct.
That said, I'd suggest trimming the rest of the sentence after Better Than Canon. "There and also in other places" doesn't convey much information.
The LBD version of Lydia is definitely more sympathetic: She ends up a bit directionless, and in a very sticky situation partly because her older sisters are so wrapped up in their own problems that they tend to dismiss her. This leaves her vulnerable to Wickham, who is a much more evil, emotionally abusive Manipulative Bastard in the series. (The big whammy that he pulls is without Lydia's consent, where in the original she is just oblivious to how her actions affect others.) It really only works because both Lizzy and Jane are reworked a bit in how they interact with her, though.
From Establishing Series Moment:
- Hazbin Hotel: The pilot opens with Princess Classic Charlie singing a mournful song over the deaths of her people, juxtaposed with sumptuously detailed backgrounds displaying the horrors of the most recent Purge, further juxtaposed with images of how little the surviving denizens of Hell actually care about it. The Cold Open then ends with a rather comedic death of a small demon at the claws of a larger one. This establishes the show being a cynical and darkly comedic ADULT musical animated series that, unlike South Park, is absolutely GORGEOUS to look at!
I think there's a valid example in there, but to me it feels like it's a bit excessive in saying "This looks pretty," and that sorta-snipe at South Park is unnecessary. If nothing else I think the last sentence should be heavily rewritten. Does anybody else have any thoughts?

I think it's mostly just the last sentence that needs tweaking. Ironically the show creator is a South Park fan.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I removed the Awesome Art sinkhole and replaced the last sentence with this: "This establishes the show being a cynical and darkly comedic adult musical animated series with elaborate art."
Captain America: The First Avenger has an entry that sounds a bit gushy about shipping:
- Super Couple: This movie elevated Peggy Carter to the level of an iconic superhero love interest on the same category as Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson. To a serious degree, part of the reason the MCU's version of Sharon Carter was so controversial was simply because the fans couldn't stop comparing her to Peggy. Despite 70 years of separation, almost twenty more movies after this one, and her death from old age in Civil War, it's almost impossible to argue they aren't the most popular couple in the MCU. As a tacit acknowledgment of this, Endgame even closes on the two of them finally getting that dance.
MCU Peggy is very popular, yes, but on the same level as Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson? That comes off as hyperbolic. Also, while being seen as an inferior Peggy substitute was certainly part of it, a lot of it boiled down to shipping wars from the Fan Dumb portion of Peggy's supporters. People's issues with Sharon (namely that she was a Flat Character with very little screentime who suffered from being Strangled by the Red String) still existed independently of her, with some negatively comparing Sharon to Black Widow instead.
While relatively well-liked for a canon couple (most canonical romances in the franchise aren't looked upon very positively at all; this is one of the exceptions), they are definitely not the most popular couple in the MCU. Pairings like Steve/Bucky, Steve/Tony, Clint/Natasha, Thor/Loki, and even Clint/Coulson easily eclipse them in terms of the amounts of fan interest judging by volumes of fanart and fanfic made. Even if we're assuming the troper was strictly referring to canon pairings only, Tony/Pepper is still more popular than it among the fandom.

I agree that Steve/Peggy absolutely do not fit the definition of Super Couple.
Old Enough to Be Your Absurdly Youthful MotherOn Loki (2021):
- Awesome Music: The End Credits Theme of Loki is amazing. Basically, if you thought WandaVision or The Falconandthe Winter Soldier had really cool end credit themes, then this show has a theme that's twice as good as them. You just need to listen for yourself to find out.
- The music in the show is also pretty good. Like the reveal of the TVA's big big city, with the music at a big epic happy crescendo. It's really good. And this is all in episode 1. If the music gets this good on the 1st episode, there'll probably be a separate page for the awesome music this show has to offer!
For all the praise they have to utter these entries are rather lacking on actual context. Not to mention that any pages in general that have anything to do with Loki or Tom Hiddleston have historically been a magnet for excessive gushing and erotic troping on this site for quite some time.
I suggest we have multiple people keeping an eye on Loki (2021) and its subpages because of that (namely, that Loki's Estrogen Brigade have a history of both being rather aggressive with their edits and also said edits often being below-average in quality).

Ho boy, Betty White is gushy. I mean, I get why, but this seems a bit over the top:
"She has her own clothing line, and t-shirts with her face on them are huge in Tokyo. She's also known for being a huge animal rights activist, and regularly works with various charities, such as the American Humane Association. She is also perfect in every waynote and is also the Queen where American TV is concerned."

Wow. Over-the-top indeed.
he/himSend da noke.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Already removed. I'll leave the bit calling her the "grand dame of American TV" cuz that is what people seem to call her, but I might remove the whole "The only reason we haven't referred to her as "Queen" is because she's American. If she was British, we'd use that title, rest assured!" bit cuz it feels nattery.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Seems like a dumb joke anyhow.

Isn't Dynamic Character covered by Character Development and its various subtropes already?
