  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Is Mario just a sex-pest who only rescues Peach so he can get some nookie, or did he start out as a genuinely noble hero who has well and truly had it with Peach's indecisiveness?
    • For that matter, is Luigi just playing the nice guy to compensate for the fact that he's no better than Mario? He never does explain why he's attracted to Peach.
    • Mario is the only fighter still standing at the end of Smash!. Was he the one person Luigi was unable to defeat, or did Luigi choose to spare his brother?
  • Broken Base:
    • Should Toad Joins the Band and Atari Mystery Hour been removed from Player Select? Ask this question with caution.
    • The fact that Player Select has less rapping than the first album has some fans hating the album. That said, the less amount could be considered a good thing for those who prefer the more singing type of songs over the raps. The same applies to the numbers of "sequel songs" present in the album.
    • Just like Player Select, Triforce has a mixed reception because of the sequel songs, with some loving it and others preferring more original songs. The filler on the album didn't help fan response either.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Many, but special mention to Sonic's Best Pal and The Book Of Nook.
    • "Whoops... killed the puppies".
    • Kirby's Adventures in Reamland never stops crossing the line.
  • Designated Love Interest: Parodied in regards to Mario and Peach in Luigi's Ballad. Despite having over 20 years of in-game Ship Teasing, Mario is portrayed as possibly the worst choice for a boyfriend, objectifying Peach, exposing himself to her, and attacking the other characters just to show how macho he is. For some reason, Peach isn't bothered by this. Ultimately averted, as she gets with Toad in the end.
  • Drinking Game: Take a drink every time one of the characters is a huge dick, says something vulgar about themself, or talks about their huge dick.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Markiplier's cameo in Smash! caused the song to be number one song off of Player Select on many people's list.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Dracula forgiving Simon Belmont for killing all of his friends may seem a little too generous, but remember that he's a vampire. Death isn't the end for him, just a milestone.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With Big Bad Bosses.
  • Genius Bonus: As one comment on the animated music video for A Boy and His Boat pointed out.
Florio 003: At 1:08 the King of Red Lions says "you've got 87 slots". If you actually count all the items in the video, the last piece of string is the 88th and breaks Link. That's so awesome.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Regretroid is about Samus getting pissed off at everyone treating her like a sex object instead of respecting her as a fighter. About a month after the song was uploaded to Youtube, it was announced that Zero Suit Samus would be returning in Smash 4 with a Hotter and Sexier redesign that has caused a bit of a Broken Base.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Inky's Lament is recapitulated in Pixels
    • Peach's sentiment that Toad looks like a dick was echoed by adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claimed Donald Trump's penis resembled Toad.
    • Robots in Need of Disguise has ridiculous new alternate modes for the Autobots, such as food and beauty products, along with "random kiosks at the local mall". This goofy idea ended up becoming a reality with Transformers: BotBots, a Transformers line of various stores at a mall having their products turned into miniature Transformers with similar wacky alternate modes.
  • Ho Yay: Dracula mentions a "queen-sized bed" and "two-man Twister".
  • Memetic Badass:
    • Luigi, all the way. Let's just say that he's a meek and friendly guy that you really... REALLY don't want to piss off!
    • Jigglypuff, who took 3 falcon punches like it wasn't even shit!
  • Memetic Molester:
    • Old Man with his "wee-wee weapon".
    • Mario in Luigi's Ballad. The music video shows him dry-humping a very uncomfortable-looking Yoshi.
  • Memetic Mutation: The "Press A to Grab Destiny" prompt from the "It's Dangerous to Go Alone" videonote  became inordinately popular after the release of Breath of the Wild, usually in reference to Zelda's ass.
  • Narm: Even though he’s meant to come across as a total badass throughout his rap, the sheer number of times that Ryu boasts about his dick makes it look like he’s really Compensating for Something.
  • Never Live It Down: Fans won't forgive Samus for killing the puppies along with Kraid. Never mind that the music video has Kraid shove the basket right in front of her fully charged blast.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The psychotic look on Jigglypuff's face after surviving all the carnage in SMASH!
    • Mario's behavior in Luigi's Ballad goes too far in some scenes e.g. he pins Peach to the ground at one point. There's also that hungry look he gets in his eyes.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: This Song Sucks is about how Arin and Danny go through rejected song ideas to make the last song of the album. Danny confirmed on Game Grumps that this is exactly how they created that song.
  • TearJerker:
    • In Filling in the Name Of, for those out there with depression, the realistic depiction of Long Pieces’ struggle with his insecurities can seem all too familiar.
    • After a short HopeSpot, The therapist asks Long Piece to fill in a tetris. Cue Long Piece committing suicide.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • With the exception of Mega Man's "hot Mega-wife" the cast of Mega Marital Problems only features characters from the first Mega Man game. That is, until Mega Man Zero time travels from the future just to cuck the Blue Bomber.
    • In most Mario Party games, the announcer slot is taken by Toad. Welcome to the Mario Party features a few shots of Tumble, only held this role in Mario Party 3 and Mario Party Advance and hasn't appeared otherwise.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: They do songs about kids' favorite video games, from Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda to Sonic the Hedgehog and Minecraft. However, explicit labels are put on them, as they have frequent profanity and subvert the innocence of your favorite video game characters. One example would be "Sonic Best Pal", which features Tails taking drugs as a result of being in Sonic's shadow and then going on a shooting spree.
  • The Woobie:
    • Poor, poor Ken.
    • Long Pieces' struggle with Depression certainly draws sympathy. Crosses over into Tear Jerker when he commits suicide.
