Wild Mass Guessing pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

Refrain from using first-person pronouns, please. This is a WMG page, not a forum.

The next palette swaps will be of Toad.
Presumably during the next DLC preorders.
  • Jossed. The recolors were of Shy Guy.

This will be the last Mario Kart game in the series, with a Spiritual Successor popping up on the next console featuring characters from multiple Nintendo series ala Super Smash Bros..
With the positive reception the DLC got for adding non-Mario based characters, "Nintendo Kart" might not be as far fetched as it sounds...
  • Well, seeing how Nintendo decided to go for a year-long DLC campaign instead of a new game, you might be onto something here.

Alternatively, we'll get more DLC that will slowly turn this game into Nintendo Kart.
Possible non-Mario based characters could be Samus, Fox, and Captain Falcon, with possible non-Mario courses being based on Pikmin, Pokémon, and Kirby.
  • Jossed. The only representation that any of those characters got was through amiibo costumes.

The Mute City track is foreshadowing a new F-Zero game for the Wii U.
  • Jossed. The Wii U never got any F-Zero titles.

The reason the villager joined the race
Because the fortune cookie (#32) said "You should consider a career as a professional kart racer."

Dragon Driftway takes place in the Chai Kingdom.
It's one of the few locations in Mario's world that's confirmed to have a eastern influence.

The next DLC will include Port Town Aero Drive.
Think about it: aside from the obvious, what do Mute City and Big Blue have in common? Both have been made into stages for Super Smash Bros.. Port Town Aero Drive would be a logical follow up.
  • Jossed. There was never a third DLC pack.

The next DLC will contain Bowser Jr..
Just to complete the Koopa family.
  • Yes and no; the DLC part is jossed since there wasn't a third pack, but Bowser Jr. does appear in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Captain Falcon will be available in a future DLC.
Think about it: Mute City and Big Blue are tracks introduced in the first two DLC packs. Up introduction of two more F Zero tracks (Port Town and Sand Ocean are the most likely), then Captain Falcon will be made available with a full cup of F-Zero tracks in a future DLC dedicated to the F Zero series.
  • Jossed. There wasn't anymore DLC for the original Wii U game and he doesn't appear in Deluxe either.

The next DLC will include the Inklings
Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 have a lot in common. Both were announced at E3, had a trailer after a few months (near the end of 2013 and 2014 respectively), another trailer in the first two months of the year, another trailer in the month of April, had it's own Nintendo Direct (both in May) and both are released at the end of May. Both games have the same marketing campaign!
  • The next update will feature an Inkling girl, Inkling boy and Inkling squid costume, unlocked via amiibo.
  • Or it will have an Inkling as one of the new characters and you can change the gender (as you can with the villager) and the color. Of course there will also be an Inkopolis track, maybe with Inklings in squid form instead of bloopers. Or all vehicles leaving behind a trail of ink that is purely cosmetic.
    • Yes and no; the DLC part is jossed, but the Inklings do appear in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Baby Rosalina, and by extension, the other baby racers in the Mario Kart games, are not actually baby versions of Mario characters.
They're actually the children of Mario characters. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are Mario and Luigi's sons while Baby Peach, Baby Daisy and Baby Rosalina are the daughters of Peach, Daisy and Rosalina.
  • More logically, Baby Mario and Baby Peach are the twin offspring of Mario and Peach, Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy are the twin offspring of Luigi and Daisy, and Baby Rosalina is a clone of Rosalina whipped up with cosmic magic to serve as a successor.

Don't ask about where they came from or who are the other parents are though, it's the same deal as Bowser and Bowser Jr.

Pink Gold Peach's True Origin...
At the end of the first Wario Land game on the Gameboy, when Wario defeats the final boss, a huge sparkling statue of Peach is revealed... Only to be stolen by Mario in a helicopter. Now, years later...the brilliant inventor E. Gadd has invented a shrink ray and a ray that animates statues! He uses it on the giant statue Mario stole years ago...And now we have Pink Gold Peach! For proof, just compare these:

The Lunar Colony is based on the X-Naut Fortress.
  • This might be a stretch, but they do have similarities, mostly in that they're both highly advanced structures on the moon.

There will be Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune crossover DLC.
  • It will have a compressed version of the C1 line as a course and some of the soundtrack from Maximum Tune. It'll also come with a Mazda RX-7 Type R kart that's Purposely Overpowered, in a nod to its Game-Breaker status in WMMT.

There will be Wreck-It Ralph DLC to promote Wreck-It Ralph 2.
  • Mario is set to be a cameo in Wreck-It Ralph 2, and they already did a similar thing with Ralph in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. New characters will include Ralph, Vanellope, and another Mario character variant. There will be a one-lap race track based off of Sugar Rush and a battle course based off of Fix-It Felix, Jr. The release date will coincide with the release of Wreck-It Ralph 2.
    • Both ideas have been Jossed, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe does not have this, either.

Rosalina is actually Pauline in disguise.
  • Pauline felt jealous over all the attention the new female characters were getting so, taking a page from Turbo's book, she hacked the code of Mario Kart 8 while the game was still in development, where she managed to alter Rosalina's code and replace it with her own. To try and get her competition out of the way permanently, she transformed Rosalina into Baby Rosalina, to ensure that Nintendo would never choose to include her in another game, as per the fans' reactions to her. (And so that, being a baby, Rosie wouldn't be cognitive enough to recognize what had happened or communicate it to anyone else if she did.) This is why "Rosalina" in this game sounds like Princess Peach doing a poor Rosalina impression, why Pauline was subsequently given a larger role in Super Mario Odyssey, and why Baby Rosie looks more like Rosalina turned into a baby, rather than matching her "canonical" appearance from her storybook.
    • Considering how Pauline appears alongside Rosalina in Mario Kart Tour, and that all of Rosalina's voice clips from that game are re-used from 8, this is unlikely.
    • Jossed. Pauline has been added in Wave 6 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, meaning that she can now race with Rosalina.

Ghost Clock is the watch company that produces from the Old Clockworks.
After the Dark Moon fiasco, the residents of Evershade Valley built the old factory back up to the point they could start mass producing and advertising to the rest of the world. Naturally, they have their sponsor ad placed in a haunted mansion style track.

The Booster Course Pass waves will come out every 18 weeks.
If they come out regularly like that, the sixth and last one would be out at the end of 2023. The dates are as follows:
Wave 1 - Golden Dash Cup and Lucky Cat Cup - March 18th, 2022 (Baseline)
Wave 2 - Turnip Cup and Propeller Cup - July 22nd, 2022
Wave 3 - Rock Cup and Moon Cup - November 25th, 2022
Wave 4 - Fruit Cup and Boomerang Cup - March 31st, 2023
Wave 5 - Feather Cup and Cherry Cup - August 4th, 2023
Wave 6 - Acorn Cup and Spiny Cup - December 8th, 2023
  • Jossed, but the prediction dates do come slightly close to the real thing. Wave 2 was released on August 4, 2022, while Wave 3 was released on December 7, 2022, Wave 4 on March 9, 2023, Wave 5 on July 12, 2023 and Wave 6 on November 9, 2023.
Tracks that have high chances of returning will include:
  • Dino Dino Jungle: There's a poster advertising it in Coconut Mall, plus it's already in Mario Kart Tour.
    • Jossed; it was DK Mountain that got included instead.
  • One of the two Vanilla Lake tracks: Like with Dino Dino Jungle, there is a poster advertising it in Coconut Mall and both tracks are in Tour.
    • Jossed; the SNES tracks included were Mario Circuit 3 and Bowser Castle 3.
  • Waluigi Pinball: It's a fan favourite and is already in Tour. It would be strange if it wasn't added.
    • Confirmed.
  • All of the city tracks from Tour: Given how all cups so far each start with a city course from Tour, it's only plausible that all city tracks are added.
    • If this is true, Sydney Sprint might be part of the Boomerang Cup, because of Australia's association with Boomerangs.
      • Confirmed, although Sydney is part of the Propeller Cup instead.
    • Piranha Plant Cove would replace a city course as a cup's opener due to it having different variants with different paths, just like the cities.
      • While confirmed, it is the fourth track on its cup (the Acorn Cup), not the first.
  • In addition to all of the above, based off how the tracks of the Booster Course Pass seem to have been ported over from Tour, any track that is already in Tour or has been datamined in the game will have higher chances of being added to the DLC than tracks that haven't.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe might receive new characters.
This one is a bit more unlikely, but there's no harm in mentioning it. Since most DLC tracks are likely being ported over from Tour, it wouldn't be unplausible to think that some characters may also get added in the future, regardless if they come with the Booster Course Pass or not. Fans have been wishing for characters like Pauline, Kamek and Chargin' Chuck to appear in a console Mario Kart game (especially since many don't consider Tour to be part of the main series despite Nintendo claiming it is) while also wanting for characters like Funky Kong, Diddy Kong and Birdo to return. Considering that all the character models, animations and voice lines already exist, implementing them into Mario Kart 8 wouldn't be hard as they would only need new animations for riding bikes (and a biker suit for Pauline too).

  • Confirmed! Birdo is back as of Wave 4, and it's not unlikely more characters will join her.
    • Confirmed that more characters will be coming beyond just Birdo, as Nintendo's website states that Waves 5 and 6 will also have returning drivers.

Sydney Sprint was meant for Wave 4.
Not only would it have been perfect to be in the Boomerang Cup, it's also the only city course to be released in 8 Deluxe before all of its routes were added to Tour. And we know that several courses shifted waves mid-development, so it stands to reason that Sydney Sprint was pushed ahead for whatever reason.

There will be a Rainbow Road track added...
But it'll be the one from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
  • Jossed.

Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach will be folded into their respective base counterparts as alternate costumes
And two of the characters revealed for Wave 6 will take their place on the character select screen to prevent the CSS from looking tacky with an incomplete row.
  • Jossed. Instead, Inkling Boy and the female Villager were folded into Inkling Girl and the male Villager respectively.

The Booster Course Pass DLC is an attempt to bring every track that was in Mario Kart Tour into the game
Adding onto this, every track that has been and will be added to the DLC has appeared in Tour, meaning Wave 6 will be composed of Rome Avanti, Madrid Drive, Piranha Plant Cove, Pirahna Plant Pipeline, and 3 more retro courses from Tour in addition to Wii Daisy Circuit. As for whether or not every track from Tour can be added in 6 waves, that's unknown, but it helps that some of the retro tracks in Tour are already in the base game of 8 Deluxe.
  • Jossed. Piranha Plant Pipeline didn't return.
