Eagle One: Harrier Attack is a 2000 flight simulator game developed for the PlayStation, by Glass Ghost and published by Infogrames. The player flies an AV-8B Harrier as the eponymous Eagle One of the United States Marine Corps Eagle Squadron against the Army of the New Millennium(ANM), who are attacking locations throughout the islands of Hawaii.
This work contains examples of:
- Airstrike Impossible: A small one at the very end of the campaign, where a nuke is disposed of by precise hovering down and and up a mine shaft.
- A.K.A.-47: Played straight with vehicles but averted with some units like Apache helicopters.
- Ambiguous Ending: The ending implies that there are still remnants of the ANM around.
- Black Market: How the ANM acquires US and former USSR equipment.
- Chekhov's Volcano: Precipitates a rescue of trapped volcanologists.
- Cool Plane: The Harrier is a versatile ground-attack aircraft capable of engaging a hover mode.
- EMP: Used by the ANM along with cyberattacks to cripple Hawaii's defences for its initial assault.
- Damsel in Distress: Captain Veronica de Laro carries out spec ops missions for the Marines, but often ends up needing rescue from Eagle Squadron.
- Easy Logistics: Averted, with regular and Emergency Refuelling along with visiting loading pads to restock munitions.
- Escort Mission: Several, made worse by Artificial Stupidity.
- Four Is Death: Downplayed with Eagle Four, who gets shot down but gets rescued.
- Home Base: Various, from land airbases to carriers like the USS Armstrong and even a submersible carrier.
- It's Up to You: Unless you're escorting them, your allies are generally in trouble and Eagle One has to complete the mission on their own.
- Just Plane Wrong: Refueling directly via the nose.
- Mission Control: Done by Eagle Squadron's commanding officer Colonel Talbot.
- N.G.O. Superpower: The ANM is capable of fielding land, sea, and air units along with bioweapons and even a Soviet nuclear weapon.
- Nom de Guerre: Eagle Three goes by "Mad Dog".
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Eagle One defies orders to save a fellow Eagle Squadron pilot who was shot down.
- Stock Footage: Used for the news report cutscenes that tell the setup and payoff of the missions in the campaign.
- Subsystem Damage: Leads to things like loss of radar effectiveness and fuel leaks.
- Superior Successor: The Super Harriers that the ANM deploys in later missions.
- Turn of the Millennium: The events of the game occur around this time, as reflected in the name of the antagonist organization.
- Unexpected Gameplay Change: Switching to a helicopter for a rescue mission.
