In the Littlest Pet Shop front room, Blythe and Youngmee delight with each other on a computer about the Soul Patches when Blythe finds out that they'll stop by Downtown City soon to be at the Biskit Twins' party, to the surprise of the two of them plus Jasper. Nevertheless, Blythe and Youngmee enjoy the Soul Patches enough to put up with the twins, as they invited Blythe, Youngmee, and Jasper to their party.

Roger walks into the Littlest Pet Shop carrying a bunch of jackets. When he asks what the screaming is about, Blythe and Youngmee tell him about the Soul Patches. Roger then claims to be a fan and that he knows all of their songs, so Youngmee presses him while Blythe tries to stop the conversation. As Roger tries to recall a song of theirs, Jasper slides in to continue the song before Roger points out that Jasper knows his material. Blythe asks Roger about the clothes, so Roger reminds her that Blythe was going to donate Roger's old clothes to a thrift store and heads back out. Looking through the pile, she finds Roger's party dress and is amused at its appearance. Knowing what they want to know, Youngmee and Jasper head out the door as well to ready themselves for the party.

With Blythe alone with the pets, Russell asks Blythe if she sees anything suspicious with the Biskit Twins inviting Blythe to another of their parties after she and the pets crashed the last one. Blythe figures that the Biskit Twins have most likely forgiven Blythe, though Russell remains skeptical. Zoe asks if she can come along, but Blythe knows she and the other pets are too recognizable and that they should not be seen there, Blythe intending to bring human escorts only. As Blythe heads up the dumbwaiter, Zoe readies herself for the party anyway under the idea that she will not be seen.

Blythe, in her room, chats with Youngmee and Jasper about what to wear to the party. During the conversation, Youngmee announces to the others that she has prepared a song for the Soul Patches for them to sing. Jasper, however, starts feeling overwhelming doubt about her song and worries about what could go wrong, but Blythe quells his negativity saying that there is no chance they'll get embarrassed at the party.

At the day camp room, Zoe has prepared disguises for all of the pets, but Russell instantly points out how obvious they are. Sunil walks over to the box of Roger's clothes and sits on it sulking. This gives Zoe an idea: The pets would stand on each other's shoulders covered by a trenchcoat, with Sunil at the bottom on stilts and Minka and Vinnie operating the hands. The moment they try walking around, however, the stack collapses, with Pepper shamefully emitting her stench.

Jasper and Youngmee have finished dressing up and are preparing final touches in Blythe's room, with Blythe wrapping a gift for the Biskit Twins. When they're ready, Youngmee tells Blythe that she hopes the Soul Patches like her song and if she could even hand it over. The two excitedly leave the room with a less excited Jasper trialing behind. In her excitement, however, Blythe leaves her present on her bed. The pets emerge from the dumbwaiter right after Blythe leaves, with Zoe futilely calling for Blythe. They realize Blythe has already left, and Zoe interprets this to mean that Blythe will meet them at the party, though Russell figures Blythe does not want to see them at the party at all.

Blythe, Youngmee, and Jasper arrive at the party, and one of the first things they lay eyes upon are large banners of the Soul Patch members. They head deeper into the party as the pets in the trenchcoat walk in. After collapsing and getting back up, they soon catch the attention of Fisher. Fisher asks François LeGrande if he knows who this "man" is. LeGrande shakes his head no, but Fisher decides he must speak with this unusual guest anyway.

In the central room, the guests bring their gifts over to the Biskit Twins. The twins, however, notice Blythe and her friends at the party, and angrily stomp on over. The three split up, but Whittany and Brittany zero in on Blythe anyway. They ask why Blythe is at the party, and Blythe shows them her invitation. The twins blame LeGrande as he walks by with refreshments, and he silently walks away.

Youngmee hides from the twins in a secluded room, only to realize she's wandered into the Soul Patches' waiting room. The Soul Patch band member identified as Jason 1 asks Youngmee if she needs any help, but Youngmee becomes tongue-tied and starts barking like a dog. Ashamed of herself, she leaves the room posthaste.

Blythe, meanwhile, attempts to assuage the Biskit Twins with her gift. This almost works, except that Blythe accidentally left her gift at home. Blythe promises to bring the gift over by calling Roger and asking if he could bring the gift over—they accept the compromise, but if Blythe fails to bring the present, Blythe is removed from the party. She sends a quick call to Roger, who indeed promises to bring the gift over as soon as possible. Just as she finishes the phone call, Youngmee scrambles over to Blythe and exasperatedly tells her about how she met the Soul Patches and barked to them.

As Blythe consoles Youngmee, the pets, in their trenchcoat, reach the central room. Penny notices some snacks being served and sneakily takes them from the server's tray. As she eats the snacks, she accidentally bumps into Russell, causing the whole stack to lose balance and sway back and forth. In the chaos, Pepper bumps her chin against Russell's back, getting quills stuck on her head and filling the trenchcoat with her stench in pain. The odor clings onto a boy standing nearby, provoking instant rejection by the nearby ladies. As the stack tumbles about the room, the pets knock lemonade onto another server and provokes stares from every direction. Fisher catches up to the pets and greets them, as the eccentric man he thinks they are. He offers up a handshake, Vinnie and Minka fumbling their arms but Fisher catching the fake hands anyway. LeGrande sidles up to Fisher and tells him there's an urgent matter, so Fisher leaves the conversation, leaving the stack of pets to themselves. They continue swaying about the room and wind up on the dance floor, where they become the center of attention. The Biskit Twins become furious that attention has been taken away from them as the stack collides with Youngmee, who winds up next to the Soul Patches again and starts clucking like a chicken. Blythe, having caught the stack, recognizes Zoe at the top and takes the pets to a corner, still in their formation.

The other pets reveal themselves under the trenchcoat, and Blythe chastises them for going against her directions by coming to the party. She tells the pets that if her cover is blown, Blythe and her friends will be removed from the party and Youngmee won't be able to present her song to the Soul Patches. Zoe points out that Blythe told them not to be seen, but Blythe clarifies that it really means to not be at the party. Nevertheless, Zoe remains difficult and insistent on Blythe's wording. Before they can get much further though, Fisher returns to the room, having finished his business, to look for the stack of pets. Blythe, knowing nothing good will come of it, shoves the stack elsewhere, dropping their right shoe on the floor. Roger, meanwhile, has made his way to the party to deliver Blythe's gift. Blythe, again, shoves Roger elsewhere as Fisher comes by. Fisher, instead, finds the shoe on the floor and decides he should figure out whom it fits so he can make him his next vice president.

As Roger hands the gift back to Blythe, Roger notices the stack of pets is wearing his trenchcoat and fedora and wanders away to find this mysterious man with what he perceives as good taste in clothes. Blythe, annoyed that the pets have gotten Roger's admiration too, turns around and bumps into the Biskit Twins. They tell Blythe to put the gift on the gift table and when Blythe does so, they let Blythe stay at the party. At the table, Youngmee finds Blythe and screams in despair over having clucked like a chicken to the Soul Patches. At the mention of the band's name, Jasper comes up to Blythe to look for them as Fisher comes by inspecting people's shoes to see if they line up. After rejecting Jasper, the lights shift, and Soul Patches music begins playing as the concert begins.

Blythe and Youngmee find themselves at the back of the audience. Youngmee, concerned that her printout can't reach the Soul Patches from where they're standing, prompts Blythe to fold her sheet music into a paper airplane and toss it in the Soul Patches' direction. The paper gets caught on Jason 1's guitar, who unfolds it, reads it, sees Blythe and Youngmee waving in the back, and decides to show it to the other band members to play it. Youngmee brims with joy over the Soul Patches playing their song, but Blythe notices something else: The stack of pets is also in the audience, with Roger and Fisher closing in on them. Zoe, noticing the both of them, sends the stack onstage, where Jason 1 encourages her to sing the song, which Zoe, as a singer, gladly obliges. Although she sings what she reads, everyone else interprets it as howling and yapping. The Soul Patches are initially confused but follow along when the audience reacts well anyway. Fisher, who cannot stand Zoe's racket, decides this mysterious man is not worth it anymore and throws the shoe elsewhere. It hits Roger on the head, who picks it up and recognizes it as one of his old shoes. Worried, however, is Youngmee, who feels the song is getting ruined. Blythe reassures her by showing her the audience loves it anyway with Jasper standing nearby in awe.

After the end of the party, Youngmee can now comfortably chat it up with the Soul Patches as Jasper admits he's a fan. However, the Biskit Twins come up to Blythe, insulted that Blythe's gift was a photo of Blythe and her friends Jasper, Youngmee, and Sue. They toss the photo back at Blythe, but Blythe is not concerned at all, leaving the mansion with Youngmee and Jasper at her side. The stack of pets follow behind and snag themselves without noticing on the twins' heads, revealing to them that these are a bunch of animals on stilts. Watching the pets leave, Whittany tells Brittany that they're a weird bunch.

This episode contains examples of (YMMV entries go here):

  • Accidental Dance Craze: The stack of pets stumbling back and forth is mistaken for a dance. The reaction is mixed: Some people, like Jasper, think it's a hot new dance. Some, like Blythe, don't like it at all.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Fisher is a subscriber to this belief.
Fisher: And you don't say much. That says a lot about a man. It's a sign of strength!
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Youngmee utters, "What the huh?" in this episode.
  • Call-Back: Whittany talks about firing LeGrande. LeGrande previously resigned of his own accord in "The Expo Factor Part 2."
    • Pepper talks about how much fun she's having as a human in the party. Compare this to her desire to be more human in "Stand Up Stinker" so she can tell her jokes directly to humans.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: Blythe keeps running into this situation at the party, both from herself and from those she speaks with.
  • Closet Geek: Inverted with Jasper. He is actually a fan of the Soul Patches but tries to keep it a secret, though he overcompensates.
  • Conspicuous Trenchcoat: The pets at the party, who draw attention to themselves in various ways.
  • Continuity Nod: Youngmee mentions Sue's absence is due to having to be at the finals of the school's track meet. Sue realized she had natural talent at track-and-field events in "Russell Up Some Fun."
    • Russell mentions a time when Sunil frequently squealed for having bugs crawling on him. Sunil made mention of his fear of arthropods in "Heart of Parkness."
    • The guy who gets Pepper's stink on him previously appeared in "Feud for Thought" as one of the guys Whittany inadvertently calls "the smart kids."
  • Derailed for Details: Jasper inadvertently drops Soul Patches song titles into his sentences within earshot of Blythe and Youngmee, causing them to start talking about said song.
  • Didn't Think This Through: (A minor inconvenience) It would make more sense for Penny Ling to be on the bottom, as she is the strongest and would be able to support them easier than Sunil who is known for being pretty weak.
  • Drunk on Milk: Jasper's behavior after the party looks like he's drunk.
  • Exact Words: Zoe's excuse for going to the party is that Blythe doesn't want to see the pets at the party, never directly saying that they couldn't go.
  • Eyedscreen: Fisher's eyes once he decides he must speak with the Zoe stack.
  • Fake Band: The Soul Patches.
  • Finishing Each Other's Sentences: When Roger struggles to remember how a Soul Patches song goes, Jasper comes in to finish the next couple of lines for him.
  • Gale-Force Sound: During the cold open. See Squee below.
  • George Jetson Job Security: Fisher seems to hire vice presidents on a whim. Most likely, the urgent matter also involved the termination of his previous vice president's job.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Blythe goes for this hairstyle again, at least before the party.
  • Idiosyncratic Wipes: Camera flashes transitioning to and from the flashback in Act 1.
    • Balloons float down to end Act 2.
  • I Warned You: Pepper says the line when the trenchcoat trick fails for the first time, and she accidentally dutch ovens the pets in the trenchcoat with her stink.
  • Literal-Minded: Zoe interprets Blythe saying "don't be seen" as "you can come, just don't let people see you" rather than "don't be here at all", when Blythe actually meant the latter.
  • Obsessed with Food/Running Gag: Jasper, upon coming to the party, immediately notices the refreshments table. Every subsequent shot of Jasper until the Soul Patches concert is of him eating something or at least holding food.
  • Odd Name Out: The Soul Patches' names are Jason #1, Jason #2, Hayden, Dustin, and Ted. Ted's name is the only one that's not two syllables long with an unstressed second syllable and does not end in the letter "N."
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Blythe sees the Biskit Twins heading her way, so she runs to the side. She meets up with them anyway.
    • A more subtle one happens in Act 3 with Pepper: Her stench is gone when the episode cuts outside of the trenchcoat, and Pepper is back in a good mood.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Russell points out the obviousness of the pets' identities underneath Zoe's initial disguise ideas.
  • Portmanteau: "Manimal."
  • Prehensile Tail: Pepper's tail is at least strong enough to hold up Vinnie, Minka, and Zoe. Minka is sometimes seen standing on Pepper's head though.
  • Repeating So the Audience Can Hear: Blythe pretty much repeats whatever Roger says over the phone at the beginning of Act 3.
  • Rule of Three: Blythe, Youngmee, and Jasper come to the party. Blythe marvels at the chandelier, Youngmee revels with the banners depicting the Soul Patches, and Jasper is in awe of the food.
  • Seemingly Profound Fool: Fisher reads the movements of the stack of pets and convinces himself the stack is a an incredibly wise but eccentric man. Every attempt to try to shake off Fisher's attention only fuels his curiosity.
  • Sequel Episode: This episode picks up from the events of "What's in the Batter?"
  • Series Continuity Error: Brittany says that she's never even noticed Jasper before. This is in contradiction to "Feud for Thought," where Brittany not only stayed close to Jasper, she followed him around and interrogated him. That being said, Brittany may have said that to Jasper to belittle him knowing it was a lie.
    • It seems more likely, that he was always just "a face in the crowd" to her. Even when talking to him directly, she didn't care squat who he was, and was easily forgettable to her.
  • Stealth Pun: Youngmee Song wrote a song - in other words, it's "Youngmee's song".
  • Squee: The very first thing spoken in the episode. The second and third ones cause Gale-Force Sound.
  • Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion: The Soul Patches have four rhyming names—Jason, Jason, Hayden, Dustin—and Ted.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: In the cold open, Jasper likes to put emphasis on first-person pronouns to make sure Mrs. Twombly knows he has no love for the Soul Patches.
  • Tempting Fate
Blythe: I promise, nothing embarrassing is going to happen.
  • Totem Pole Trench: Zoe's "manimal."
  • Visual Pun: Sunil, at the bottom of the stack, says that he's "carrying a lot of weight on [his] shoulders."
  • Wingding Eyes: Youngmee gets hearts for eyes for a split second in the cold open.
