Magnolia may be saved and Mundus' invasion has been thwarted, but the War of Edolas continues as a transformed Nelo Angelo attacks, while at the same time King Faust unveils his most powerful weapon, the Dorma Amin. It's now up to Dante, Modeus, Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel to stop them while the rest of the Strongest Team contends with the Edolas Army.
- Abusive Parents: Faust outright says he never viewed Mystogan as his son, and shows no hesitation trying to kill him.
- Adaptational Badass: The Dorma Anim has a feature that lets it absorb all the magic in Edolas, giving it black armor and greatly amplifying its power in a form called 'Black Heaven'.
- Badass Normal: Zigzagged with Edolas Jellal given he fights with magic tools, but even without innate magic he proves capable of dealing with Faust and Nelo Angelo at the same time through skillful use of his Magic Staffs Attack Reflector and immobilizing capabilities. The only reason he was knocked out of the fight was because he wanted to leave and check up on Panther-Lily.
- Beam-O-War: Between Nelo and and Faust in the Dorma Anim, firing off dark lightning and a white beam respectively.
- Bifurcated Weapon: Nelo Angelo's Sinister Scythe splits into dual kama's.
- Big Brother Instinct: Displayed by Dante and Natsu when the Dorma Anim attacks Wendy, the former saving her from it's attack, the latter renewing his furious attack, directly calling her his sister as he does so.
- Blood from the Mouth:
- Dante as the fight with the Dorma Anim continues.
- Modeus when Nelo Angelo manages to grievously wound him.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: Gajeel uses Natsu's "I've got a fire in my belly" at the same time as the latter, who lampshades it.
- Bring It: At the Darkest Hour, Dante gives one to Faust in the Dorma Anim, despite his own injuries.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Nelo Angelo runs roughshod over the exceeds and the Edolas army.
- Determinator: Fairy Tail as per usual, but special mention to a bleeding Dante telling Faust to Bring It even after the Humongous Mecha enters a new form.
- Didn't See That Coming:
- Happy is shocked to see Lisanna use her Animal Soul to manifest wings, under the impression she was her Edolas counterpart.
- Faust was caught completely off guard by Natsu and Gajeel's ability to eat fire and metal respectively.
- Divide and Conquer: How Fairy Tail opt to deal with Nelo Angelo and the Dorma Anim, Modeus occupying the former while Dante and the Dragon Slayers deal with the latter.
- The Dreaded: The Dorma Anim is considered this by everyone in Edolas, ally and enemy of the kingdom alike.
- Evil Versus Evil: The newly empowered Nelo Angelo shows his true colours and battles Faust in the Dorma Anim.
- Extreme Omnivore: Among the Dragon Slayers, Natsu manages to eat the explosions from the Dorma Anims missiles while Gajeel consume metal from the Humongous Mecha itself, to Fausts shock.
- Godzilla Threshold: The Dorma Anim is this for the kingdom of Edolas, given it uses all the available magic. Nelo Angelo notes Faust breaking it out means he has gone completely power mad.
- Good Colours, Evil Colours: Dante, Natsu, Wendy, and Gajeel against the Black Heaven Dorma Anim, while Modeus fights Nelo Angelo.
- Humongous Mecha: The Dorma Anim, whose design is based on a dragon.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Modeus suffers this at Nelo Angelo's hands after a brief distraction.
- Internal Reveal: Happy seeing Lisanna using her Animal Soul clues him in to the fact that she is the one he knew since birth.
- It's Personal with the Dragon: Erza decides to face off against Knightwalker at the chapters end.
- One-Winged Angel: Discussed by Fairy Tail regarding Nelo Angelo's Onyx Reaper form, at first thinking it's a form of Devil Trigger, with Modeus correctly guessing Mundus gave him a power boost.
- Magic Enhancement: Wendy shows off her first use of her enchantments in the story, including Vernier and Arms.
- No-Sell: The Dorma Anim is equipped with an Anti-Wizard lacrima that renders it impervious to any magic sans Dragon Slayers, or sufficiently powerful demons like Dante. It also remains unscratched from a rocket from Lady.
- Point of Divergence:
- Dante and Modeus join the Dragon Slayers in fighting Faust and Nelo Angelo.
- Lisanna helps some of the falling Fairy Tail members with her Wing Take Over.
- The Promise: Modeus promises Wendy and the others he will come back alive from his fight with Nelo Angelo.
- Simple Solution Won't Work: Fairy Tail is unable to simply wait out the battle between Faust and Nelo Angelo as the force of their attacks means that they or innocent civilians could be caught in the crossfire.
- Turns Red: The Dorma Anim proves capable of absorbing all the magic in Edolas, turning a black colour and gaining a Blade Below the Shoulder.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Lampshaded by Dante after Natsu and Gajeel's Borrowed Catchphrase moment.Dante: Awe look, they're bonding.
- War Is Hell: Fairy Tail is horrified at seeing the Edolas soldiers convert the exceeds into lacrima, with even Lisanna being surprised they'd resort to this.
- The Worf Barrage: Modeus's strongest attack fails to do significant damage to Nelo Angelo in his Onyx Reaper form.
