  • Deliberately Monochrome: the album covers musicforthemorningafter, Day I Forgot, Nightcrawler, his self-titled album, Caretakers, and his live albums; Live From New Jersey, Live at KCRW and Live at the Troubadour. musicforthemorningafter and Day I Forgot are mixed examples due to coloured text in their album cover.

  • Either/Or Title: "For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)", "Carlos (Don't Let It Go to Your Head)" and "Idols (We Don't Ever Have to Say Goodbye)".

  • One-Man Song: "Murray", "Carlos (Don't Let It Go to Your Head)".
  • One-Woman Song: "For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)" and "Miss Alien".

  • Portmantitle: musicforthemorningafter and ArrangingTime
  • Soprano and Gravel: Yorn and Johansson in the collaborative album Break Up.
  • Title-Only Chorus: "'Cos it already is!"
  • Vocal Evolution: Yorn's voice has gotten deeper over the years, and has become less prone to singing nasally.
