Go To

trash. is a manga by Kenji Yamamoto and two artists known as D.P. about two high-school aged assassins who work for the Kantou Iwashi yakuza group and their boss, Konomi Minoko.

Bullet and Francesca! Two assassins infamous for their ruthless efficiency in the underworld. Stories abound of how the duo looks like, as none has seen them and survived to tell. Just two things are certain: Bullet uses a modified Beretta with bullets capable of blowing their targets apart from the inside, while Francesca uses a pair of axes.

Enter two unassuming high school girls, Ishikawa Rushia and Shirato Mine. In reality, they are Bullet and Francesca, moonlighting as mob enforcers at night for the Kantou Iwashi family boss, Konomi Minoko. Predictably, their line of work brings a lot of unsavory elements to their lives... Oh, and gore. Lots of gore.

  • An Axe to Grind: Francesca wields two folding franciscas.
  • Ax-Crazy: Hoo boy, perhaps it's easier to list the characters who aren't...
  • Berserk Button: Don't abuse cats, waste food, or hit girls in front of Francesca. It'll end up badly for you, as one sick bastard who liked to eat cats learned the hard way.
    • Neither Bullet nor Francesca like pedophiles or rapists.
  • The Berserker: Mine/Francesca is at her strongest when she is madder than hell.
  • BFG: Eidai, one of the Trigger Happies, wield a Solothurn Antitank rifle. The fact that she's tiny is lampshaded by the author, "she has brawns only possible in mangas!"
  • Boobs of Steel: Averted to the point of Inverted by Francesca, who is flat as board yet is one of the deadliest assassin around.

  • Combat Pragmatist: Murasame Yuuki, the self-proclaimed 'murder specialist' from the "Song of a Murderer" arc, is a rather unassuming guy who goes down in one punch to the face, and he claims he has never won a fight before. Doesn't stop him from using the environment as weapons and taking his assailants by surprise one by one.
  • Crapsack World: The violent crime world that Rushia and Mine live in is definitely not a pleasant one, and is laced through and through with serious ugliness. The bad guys are very likely to be utter monsters who can and do commit truly horrific, disgusting acts where rape is just the beginning, murders are dime a dozen, children being forced into sexual slavery are common, and then some. The protagonists have legitimately tragic backstories and are less crazy, but as they are assassins, they won't hesitate to commit grievous, grievous bodily harm that would easily qualify for the death penalty in jurisdictions that have it. The crappiness of this world can even rival Warhammer 40,000.

  • Cute Bruiser: Francesca is a cute girl who loves cats and quite a Cloudcuckoolander out of work. That petite body of hers hides a lot of strength and durability. At the very least, she has enough strength to slice limbs and even heads off in one strike.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Francesca has these. Not so cute when you find out they have a practical use.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Bullet/Rushia was kidnapped at a young age while she was still a schoolgirl, gang-raped by her captors over an extended period, and then forced to shoot people in bodybags that after her rescue by the police turned out to be her family and classmates, including her beloved sister Eruka and her dog Jerry.
  • Fan Disservice: Scantily-clad or naked females are less titillating when they're rape victims, suffering Cruel and Unusual Death, or just plain old Sex Slaves...
  • Gorn: Heads getting chopped in two and impalement are some of the less nasty deaths here...
  • Groin Attack: Used a few times in the story, and NOT played for laughs. Most notably is Bullet's, whose permanent damage even deter rapists from having their way with her.
  • The Gunslinger: In contrast with Francesca, Bullet uses guns for her work. Her Weapon of Choice is her modified Beretta, detailed below under Hand Cannon, but she also makes use of assault rifles and shotguns when she has to.
  • Hand Cannon: Bullet's modified Beretta is rather unassuming in size, but it uses custom-made hollowpoint bullets that carry a lot of stopping and killing power, capable of blowing heads and even entire bodies apart from the inside out.
  • Happiness in Slavery: Soo-In was a Sex Slave for a pedophile before being taken in by Francesca. After they saved her through organ transplants (complicated story), she happily served Minoko as her maid.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Subverted with Francesca. Her love of cats and Cloudcuckoolander quality makes her look like this, and she is, when out of work. But during work, you'll see the primal aggression she brings in melee, and boy is it nasty.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Francesca's petite, flat body suggests she's a Fragile Speedster, but she's really this. See Cute Bruiser above and Nigh-Invulnerable below.
  • Made of Plasticine: People here are a lot more fragile than in real life, that they get smashed, crushed, or sliced a bit too easily.
  • Man Bites Man: Francesca's teeth have been replaced with Boron Nitride alloys that allow them to be used as deadly weapon. At one point she literally bit someone's throat out.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Hell Mosquito, an assassin/bodyguard for hire, but is so unstable and liable to leave a lot of collateral damage or even killing the client, no one in their right mind would use his service.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Downplayed by Francesca who has part of her body literally Made of Iron. She can resist gunshots and blades that would cleave a person in two, but this invulnerability only extends up to her limbs.
  • Rape as Drama: There is a LOT of rape in this series, and as later volumes make rather painfully clear, none of the main girls are immune.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Francesca is red, with a tendency to engage in brutal melee combats which gets more primal and aggressive if she's pushed, but is also emotional outside of work, insisting to take in abandoned kittens and kids home with her. Bullet is blue, cool and calm in her choice of actions to the point of heartless, and she often exhibits Tranquil Fury in contrast to Francesca's Unstoppable Rage.
  • Revenge: The Fire Starter arc focuses on Anna Yagyu, whose sister Erika is used as an unwitting test subject for a deadly virus. Anna infects herself with the virus before putting her sister out of her misery and seeking vengeance against the ones responsible for her infection and the creation of the virus, seeking to use the virus against the ones who created it in a very stone-cold invocation of Hoist by His Own Petard.
  • Serial Killer: The group have to deal with two of these, one of them Murasami Yuuki, the killer from the Song of a Murderer arc, and the other being Takushi Endo, a sick piece of work from the Reminiscence arc who is obsessed with Francesca.
  • Short-Range Guy, Long-Range Guy: Francesca and Bullet, respectively.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Bullet is very allergic to cats.
  • Yakuza: Bullet and Francesca work for the Kantou Iwashi yakuza group.
