     Side:Future
  • The first episode's beginning? An insanely long compilation of everyone in the Future Foundation, and some people outside it, staring at each other.
  • There's also the fact Tengan doesn't even know why they're meeting. Cue Ruruka and Seiko explaining it's because Makoto's a traitor who freed the Remnants of Despair...and, as Bandai adds, ate the last bagel.
Tengan: NAEGI YOU SON OF A BITCH!
  • The sound of an old man getting shot in the dick by a group of kids when he shouted at them to get off his lawn is pretty much all that's needed to be said about how much despair is in the world.
  • When Aoi complains about how bad things are, Kyoko points out they could be worse; they could be in Towa City. There is then a Gilligan Cut to Komaru cowering behind a counter, reciting to herself that she's in her happy place, as a Monokuma finishes up killing someone.
  • Bandai complains that the communications being cut off means he can't get on the servers for Pokémon GO. Kyosuke dryly asks "when could you?"
  • This exchange:
Ruruka: I bet Naegi's behind this!
    Makoto: I've been in confinement!
Kyosuke: He admits it! Juzo, hold him down!
    • Makoto's exasperated "oh, fuck all of you" in response to that. In fact, this is just the first of many times he gets fed up with the Future Foundation.
  • Chisa's body being found draped on a chandelier? Sad and a gut-punch. Tengan complaining that he JUST cleaned that chandelier? Hilarious.
  • Bandai's increasingly desperate attempts to dissuade Juzo from punching anyone, ending in an exclamation that he'll suck his dick for the rest of the day if he please won't hit someone!
  • Kyosuke's ego provides some great Black Humor moments, like when he tells everyone who isn't him to kill themselves so there won't be a traitor anymore.
    • Even better is that Juzo immediately agrees to do this. Cue an incredulous Makoto asking if he'd suck Kyosuke's dick if ordered. Turns out, he totally would.
    • And then, when Bandai dies because of his forbidden action, all Kyosuke has to say is that none of this would have happened if they'd just killed themselves like he'd told them to.
      Makoto: Fuck you!
  • Makoto temporarily turns into an Ungrateful Bastard when Aoi fights Juzo to protect him, yelling at her to "at least get a hit in!"
  • Tengan expresses gratitude and relief towards Makoto for saving the Remnants of Despair because all the green they sunk into the Kamukura Project is still alive.
  • Kyoko of all people cracks a pun while investigating Izayoi's corpsenote .
Kyoko: Fascinating. Another heart attack. ...heh, puns.

     Side:Despair
  • Fuyuhiko's grumbling in the face of his classmates' insanity. "Go to school, Mom says! It'll be fun, she says!"
    • After listening to one of Nagito's hope rants, he incredulously asks if everyone here is insane.
Gundham: I am the lord of hamsters!
    Fuyuhiko: I guess so.
  • Kazuichi freaking out and screaming at Ibuki's Pinocchio Nose.
  • Kyosuke tries asking Chisa how her investigation is going. Unfortunately for him, she doesn't even know she's supposed to be investigating at all!
    • He also briefly wishes he'd sent Juzo, before reminding himself that Juzo would probably cause more trouble than he's worth in property damage.
  • Tengan telling Hajime that if he doesn't really want to participate in the Kamukura Project, he can just stay in the Reserve Course. Hajime flashes back to being surrounded by the Faceless Masses and mentally screaming "why is everyone blue?!" The lampshade is already funny, but Tengan saying "I rest my case" as if it's a Fate Worse than Death is what really sells it.
    • This gets a Call-Back at the end of the episode, when Hajime mentally screams "why is everyone still blue?!" as he leaves class.
  • Chiaki's reaction to Teruteru's cooking:
Chiaki: Eh. Six out of ten.
Teruteru: Well who died and made you Gordon frickin’ Ramsay?
  • As in canon, the aphrodisiac scene provides many of these moments. Stand-outs include Peko calling Fuyuhiko sugar-butt, Hiyoko taunting Teruteru over things being too hard for him, and everyone reciting "just the tip! just the tip!" in time with Mikan.
  • Apparently, they've been getting around the issue of not having a class rep by claiming the Imposter is it, "and we can't keep doing that! No one here has that name!"
  • Natsumi's introduction is pretty much gold.
Natsumi: Hello, my name is Natsumi Kuzuryu, and I’d like to say it’s nice to meet you.
    Hajime: Oh, she seems nice!
Natsumi: Of course I’m not a fucking liar, so screw that. You’re all my bitches now.
  • While Hajime and Chiaki are playing games by the fountain, he asks whether or not he should try get into Hope's Peak. Although she thinks he's being dumb, she tells him to go for it as long as it's nothing too dangerous.
Hajime: Really? That's great! 'Cause, there's this girl—
    Chiaki: Girl?
Hajime:: (internally) Aw, fuck. You blew it. I’m out.
  • Junko's arrival provides many standout moments.
  • The Imposter being fed up with Ryota's lethal work ethic
Imposter: [thinking] You know what? I'm pretending to be this guy so who am I to judge? Just walk out like my parents did to me... Great. Now, I'm sad.
Imposter: [out loud] You can really be insensitive sometimes, Ryota!
  • After the Imposter literally picks up Tsumiki to get medical attention for Ryota:
  • Izuru dunks on Junko all throughout their first meeting.
Junko: Not many make quick work of me and my sister so quickly.
Izuru: I find that hard to believe.
