    Ben Goudy
Played by: Tye Sheridan
  • Bash Brothers: With Carter.
  • Big Damn Kiss: With Kendell.
  • Car Fu: Kills three zombies by running them over.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Uses a fire extinguisher to distract a zombie cop so that Carter can finish him.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Quite literally and with very silly reasons; While looking for the essential MacGuffin and surrounded by undead, Denise offers Ben a kiss. He wants to but stalls many times due to nervousness. He even ultimately refuses but Denise pulls him into an eleven-second kiss regardless. They DID not have long before the bomb was dropped.
  • First Kiss: Ben's presumably first kiss is with Denise. It's a comical, platonic moment.
  • Improvised Weapon: Uses a weed whacker to fight the zombies.
  • The Leader: Is the most diplomatic of the three and even gives a rousing speech before rallying Augie and Carter into battle.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Ben being the blue oni with his more calm and restrained personality.

    Carter Grant
Played by: Logan Miller
  • Bash Brothers: Together with Ben, he helps taking down a zombified cop who's shooting at point-blank range. They even high-five each other for it.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Uses a window to decapitate Mrs. Fielder and broken bottle to kill a zombified stripper.
  • Cowardly Lion: Initially panics and screams a lot but gets quite fast over it and helps Ben on numerous occasions.
  • Deadpan Snarker
  • Improvised Weapon: Makes a crossbow to fight off the zombies.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Looks like he only cares about being popular and girls, but will stick up for Ben anytime without any hesitation.
  • Nail 'Em: His weapon during the climax is a nail-firing crossbow.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Carter being the red oni with his extroverted and wild personality.

    Augie Foster
Played by: Joey Morgan

    Denise Russo
Played by: Sarah Dumont
  • Action Girl: Denise, who spends the first half of the film wielding a pump-action shotgun, which she uses to expertly blow away several zombies via headshots. Also her quick thinking from the beginning. Far from panicking at the gruesome horrors that assault her, she takes smart and vital decisions while the dead are literally knocking at her door.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Ben from the zombie bouncer when the latter has Ben trapped on a toilet.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Hinted at during the argument she and Carter have.
  • Deadpan Snarker: most noticeable when they're stuck in the prison.
Carter: "Okay God, you're so hostile."
Denise: "No, hostile is three seconds from now when my foot's up your ass."
  • The Door Slams You: Uses a Humvee door to kill a zombiefied soldier.
  • Dramatic Gun Cock: When she insists she's a cocktail waitress and not a stripper.
  • Improvised Weapon: After her shotgun runs out of ammo, she uses it as a club.
  • Like Brother and Sister: According to Sarah Dumont, this is how her relationship with Ben works out.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She wears a tank top and sports cleavage.
  • Motivational Kiss: Given to Ben to boost his confidence. His subsequent assertiveness implies it worked
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: Uses a shotgun as her main weapon.
  • Shout-Out: Her surname is Russo which may be a reference to John Russo who wrote the screenplay for Night of the Living Dead.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female of the group.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'10.

    Kendall Grant
Played by: Halston Sage
