Nonoka Aida

The main protagonist of the story. She decides to start practicing judo again to help out the school's judo club, and because she hopes she'll meet her childhood savior in the process.

The headstrong leader of Asamizo's new judo club. He has a quick temper and places martial arts above all else in his life.
He is one of Nonoka's saviors.

- Polar Opposite Twins: His twin brother Masaya is a pessimistic delinquent who lacks inspiration. Yuuya is optimistic and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Both seemingly love to fight, however.
- Scars Are Forever: Has one on his forehead from throwing Nonoka's attacker as a child, and another on his back from trying to crawl under barbed wire.

Shinobu Oda
Voiced by: Yasunori Matsumoto
The handsome first year class representative of Asamizo High School. He appears friendly toward Nonoka until she joins the judo club, at which point he becomes hostile to both her and Yuuya.
He is one of Nonoka's saviors.
- Career-Ending Injury: His judo was good enough to inspire several of Asamizo's rivals to start practicing, and his quitting is still talked about in those circles.
- Child Prodigy: His judo was so good it was said to be a gift from God.
- Forceful Kiss: All of his kisses with Nonoka are of this type.
- It Amused Me: When explaining why he hates judo and continues agonizing the club, he gives this reason. He's lying.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He becomes less harsh as the series continues, and even begins helping train Nonoka and Yuuya for the Olympics

Gentaro Iwayama

The former head of the judo club before it was disbanded. He is a highly intelligent third year student who only joined the club so he could actually enjoy his last year of school without having to focus entirely on academics.
- Badass Bookworm: Though he's never managed to defeat an opponent, he manages to hold out against several highly skilled ones during the regional tournament .
- Instant Illness: Comes down with one while the club is training for their first match without any prior indication. He says it was from the stress of doing judo and schoolwork, but his Rousing Speech from the infirmary bed inspires everyone else to take their training more seriously.

- Spell My Name With A 'Taro': The manga translates Iwayama's name to 'Gentaro', but the OVA refers to him as 'Genzaburou'.

Yoshimi Kumada
Voiced by: Kōzō Shioya
An extremely strong and imposing man. He joins the judo club in order to meet Nonoka, who he fell in love with at some point.

- Ingesting Knowledge: Yuuya exresses concern over him apparently eating the judo manuals, but is pleasantly surprised when Yoshimi seems to have actually picked up some rules from them. Somehow.
Tsuyoshi Tokugawa

An effeminate young man. He was the only person to make it through the judo club's Training from Hell, at which point he revealed that he only joined so he could meet Yuuya.
