Characters for Hinako Note

Hinako Sakuragi

Voiced by Mao Ichimichi

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Hinako's mother has an eccentric way of showing her support to her daughter.
  • Character Development: She starts to become more confident in herself as the series progresses. Still freezes into a scarecrow sometimes, though.
  • Country Mouse: She hails from the countryside and is quite shy.
  • The Ditz: Hinako isn't very bright.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Her only friends prior to the series were woodland creatures.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Not very adept at using a smartphone. She doesn't even know the difference between a VCR and a DVD player, to Yua's shock.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Hinako is pretty well-endowed for a girl starting high school.
  • Shrinking Violet: To the point of freezing up and turning into a scarecrow. She wants to shade this aspect by performing in theater.

Kuina Natsukawa

Voiced by Miyu Tomita

  • Big Eater: She'll even eat the books she's supposed to be selling.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Her defining trait, among other things.
  • Expy: Of Lucky Star's Konata Izumi, right down to the long blue hair, cat like smile, and eccentricity.
  • Genius Ditz: Pretty ditsy, but also the one who comes up with most of the scripts.
  • Punny Name: "Kui" means "eat" in Japanese.

Mayuki Hiiragi

Voiced by Yui Ogura
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mayu-chan.
  • Bromantic Foil: Female variant with Chiaki. Mayuki has a childish figure with long hair, while Chiaki has an adult like figure and has short hair. Mayuki is outgoing and talkative, while Chiaki quiet and doesn't talk as often. They even have favorite foods that are opposite to each other. Hinako lameshades how they're such opposite extremes.
  • Cool Big Sis: Has the personality of one, most of the time.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Has long blonde hair, and very sweet natured.
  • Height Angst: Mayuki really doesn't like to be reminded of her height.
  • Irony: She doesn't want to get on stage because of how embarrassing it would be, yet she's wearing a maid outfit much of the time at home.
  • Meido: Constantly wears a maid costume at Hitotose. Fittingly, she works to cafe part of the building. On occasion, she'll make the others wear some cute costumes too.
  • Older Than They Look: To her frustration, everyone treats her like a child because she looks like one. Doesn't help that she can be a little childish at times.
  • Shrinking Violet: Not the extent of Hinako, but she does get embarrassed easily.

Chiaki Hagino

Voiced by Hisako Tōjō
  • Affectionate Nickname: Aki-chan by Mayuki.
  • Child Prodigy: Chiaki is a talented former child actress.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Chiaki is quite popular at school, which happens to be an all-girls school. She attracts both sexes, but there's no focus on any male characters.
  • Friend to All Children: She gets along with kids. Helps that Kuina and Mayuki are childish at times too.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Shares this role with Hinako from time to time. Helps that she has an even more impressive figure.
  • Nice Girl: The nicest and most mature person of the Hitotose Troop.
  • The Quiet One: She talks with a gentle and quiet voice.
  • Team Mom: While Mayuki is the Cool Big Sis of the group, Chiaki fills this role. Being the Landlady of Hitotose and probably the oldest occupant, she's the most mature of the bunch, and takes care of everyone. Greatly exemplified when Hinako catches a cold and does a better job of taking care of her than Kuina & Yua do in their zany attempts to make Hinako feel better.

Yua Nakajima

Voiced by Marika Kouno
  • A-Cup Angst: Yua is shown to be envious of Hinako's busty figure.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: At the start, Yua introduces herself in a critically harsh manner to Hinako, and calls her a little shrimp for daring to be friends with Chiaki, but upon seeing Hinako brought to tears, she immediately felt she went too far.
  • Onee-sama: She really admires Chiaki.
  • The Resenter: She resented Hinako because of the attention she received from Chiaki and being chosen for the lead role in a play by Ruriko. It fades over time.
  • Stalker with a Crush: To Chiaki sometimes. She says its a fan's job to stalk their idols from the shadows in episode 11.
  • Tsundere: Classic example of type A. Chiaki excluded, She's haughty pretty much everyone, especially Hinako. She later shows her sweet side to Hinako.
  • Unknown Rival: To Hinako, at first. She tries showing up Hinako at every turn, to show she was better than her and prove she can be a better heroine in an upcoming play. Naive Hinako believes Yua was being helpful though. Of course, the one-sided rivalry fades over time, and Yua and Hinako become good friends in almost no time.

Ruriko Kuroyanagi

Voiced by Yuri Yoshida
