The Champions

     Kalima 'Kali' 

Princess Of Panthera and Champion of Bastet

A sweet, naive girl that was chosen by Bastet. Her mother kept her away from the world to protect her and she still has problems connecting to people she doesn't know well.

  • Action Survivor: While she has some training with a sword, she doesn't have any actual experience with combat.
  • Age-Gap Romance: She is sixteen and in a relationship with Kieran, who is five thousand years old.
  • Badass Bookworm: A champion who loves books.
  • Birds of a Feather: Bonds with Kieran over a love of reading.
  • Blue Blood: The daughter and heir of Panthera.
  • Cats Hate Water: A Kanji who dislikes water deeply.
  • Cute Bookworm: She enjoys reading and has attracted her share of attention from both men and woman.
  • Daddy's Girl: She has a close and loving relationship with her dad.
  • Fangirl: She loves the Queen Diana books and has long talks about them with Fay.
  • Gilded Cage: She views the Panthera castle this way. Though it is large and has everything she needs, she hasn't been able to leave it aside from short lessons.
  • Military Brat: Her father was in the guards, but has since resigned from a formal position.
  • Official Couple: With Kieran and Ink Drop
  • Princess Protagonist: The Princess Of Panthera and one of the main characters.
  • Shrinking Violet: She is shy and uncomfortable around people.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: Myra wanted to keep her as safe as possible so she never left the castle before she went to the Volcanic Plains.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Kalima has never been outside the castle and has a high standard for what she considers proper. She can be surprisingly bratty, but she always has her friends at heart.

     Kieran 

Prince of The Eternal Fields Of Punishment and champion of Sol

Born to Empress Freya and Emperor Set, he had a lonely childhood with few friends his own age. He is arrogant with a craving for power, but a longing for friends.

  • Age-Gap Romance: He is five thousand years old and in a relationship with Kalima.
  • Badass Bookworm: He is the son of a war goddess and has a fondness for books.
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Kalima bond over a love of books.
  • Blue Blood: The son of the empress. While he doesn't really have much political clout since he is really low down in the line of succession.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has a dry sense of humor that tends to come out when he is stressed or annoyed.
  • Fanboy: He is mentioned to like Anime with Death Note being mention frequently in The Night Mothers Heirs.
  • Gold Digger: A benign example as he recognizes that his only social standing comes from his mother, so he can't marry beneath him without losing that. He also set his sights on Kalima, because she was a princess though he is attempting to get to know her.
  • Official Couple: With Kalima and Ink Drop
  • Only Sane Man: He likes to see himself as this, but the truth is he is just as childish, spiteful, and proud as any of the other champions.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Delta and him fight often enough in this form.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: He is frosty and distant though he can be very sweet when he wants to.
  • Supreme Chef: He bakes as a form of stress relief and people seem to enjoy it.
  • Through His Stomach: He enjoys cooking and loves when people eat his food.

     Adelita 'Delta' Of Pride Domina 

Lady Apprentice Of the Volcanic Plains Clan and Champion Of Freya

  • Action Girl: She was trained from birth to take over as the Lady Commander Of the Volcanic Plains.
  • Absurd Phobia: After stumbling into the inner sanctuary of the Rogues, she has a fear of blood. Mostly of the taste of it though. She is also scared of spiders, but this is never explained.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: A brunette with an abrasive personality that tends to keep people she doesn't know at arms length.
  • The Apprentice: Her official position in the Volcanic Plains
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: firmly believes in this as this is how it works in the volcanic plains. It causes a bit of friction in the champions as her and Kieran both believe that they should be the one in charge.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She attacks Sekhmet when she hurts Jinx and actually manages to wound her slightly.
  • Boyish Short Hair: She has short hair and she is a tomboy.
  • Brainy Brunette: A very intelligent brunette.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She has a sharp tongue for those that annoy her.
  • Dragon Rider: She was chosen by Eona to be her rider.
  • Family of Choice: She started one by adopting Nix and Jinx then Doe and Fay.
  • Happily Adopted: She was adopted by Kisa when her mother died after childbirth. Though Kisa is not the most affectionate, she is clearly happy with her family.
  • Hate at First Sight: Her and Alastor have hated each other since they meet as kits.
  • Likes Older Women: She mentions that she had a crush on Lady Astrid when she was younger, crushed on Corona who is a couple years older than her, and finally gets with Seraphine who is over five thousand
  • Number Two: Her role as Lady Astrid's apprentice
  • Official Couple: With Seraphine
  • Omniglot: She mentions that she has an easy time learning languages.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her biological mother died in childbirth and her father is a Rogue.
  • Preacher's Kid: Downplayed. The child of a High Priestess, but she doesn't really have the personality of one.
  • The Perfectionist: She strives to be perfect in everything. This causes tension with the other champions since she is trying to push them towards her best.
  • Pride: Has a stubborn streak a mile wide and hates backing down from a fight.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Mentions that she loves spicy food
  • Voice Changeling: Used as part of a disguise when she and Sera were breaking out of jail.

     Felicity 'Fay' Of Pride Domina 

Champion Of Artemis

She was introduced as Kalima's sister in shield and quickly ended up becoming one of her friends quickly enough. Her mother raised her and after her exile with constant Rogue attacks in the winter and lack of food for the winter.

  • Action Girl: As a volcanic warrior, she has been trained since she was seven years old. In fact, she is Kalima's bodyguard.
  • All Girls Like Ponies: She has a horse named Ginger that she loves.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: An introverted, brunette girl who tends to suppress her emotions. Even so she is the one that most of the others turn to for advice
  • Aloof Archer: She is coldly efficient and uses a bow.
  • Badass Normal: Even when she didn't have magic, her volcanic training and determination that lead her to face off against gods
  • The Berserker: What she is called. Though she suppress her emotions, she does enjoy combat.
  • Boyish Short Hair: She has short hair.
  • Brainy Brunette: Fay has an affinity for math.
  • The Confidant: Has this role for both Delta and Kalima. Fun enough, she gets asked for romantic advice despite being asexual.
  • Celibate Hero: Never wants to date anyone ever. Even so, she mentions that she wants kids and wants at least one to be biological.
  • Confirmed Bachelor: An Aromatic Asexual.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She has a dry sense of humor.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: To the very few people she trusts, she is a loyal and caring friend.
  • Emotionless Girl: She tends to not show her emotions
  • Family of Choice: She is part of Pride Domina.
  • Fangirl: She loves the Queen Diana books and has long talks about them with Kalima.
  • Good with Numbers: Her fascination with numbers comes from the fact that she can control how numbers interact with each other
  • Icy Gray Eyes: She has grey eyes and a severe personality.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: Since she is beserker, she has no magic of her own until She becomes Artemis's champion.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: For Book one, she was only know as Fay. Book two reveals that her adult name is Felicity, but she prefers Fay.
  • The Spock: She doesn't show much emotion.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: One of her abilities as the Champion of Artemis as she found out when a house started talking to her
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: She uses a bow and arrow when she fights.
  • The Stoic: Her emotions are kept in control at all times as she is scared of losing control.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She is aloof and cold to most everyone, but she shows a protective and understanding side to her family.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She really loves muffins

     Seraphine 'Sera' 

Princess Of the Eternal Fields Of Punishment and Champion Of Pyrrah

Kieran's sister who is crushing on Delta. Like Kieran, she had a lonely kithood and constantly seeking a relationship with anyone who gives her attention.

  • Action Girl: She was trained in the Volcanic Plains to be a warrior, fencing was mentioned specifically as something she was taught.
  • Amazon Chaser: She mentions that she likes people who can fight which is typical of Volcanic People. Her first crush was on her fencing teacher.
  • Blue Blood: The daughter of Empress Freya though her status allows her to enjoy some of her interests, she really isn't interested in politics or anything else of the sort. As such, she is less stuck than Kieran and more go with the flow.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: A huge fan of this.
  • The Fashionista: Creates her own dresses through magic and she looks through fashion magazines for inspiration.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Her love of frilly dresses and shoes doesn't hide the fact that she loves adventures and battle.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: She is a girly girl who likes girls.
  • Official Couple: With Delta
  • Perky Goth: She is a happy person who favors darker colors and reds.
  • Student/Teacher Romance: She had a crush on her teacher, but it didn't go anywhere.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: She wants a fairy tale love.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: While she does have her moments of tomboyness, she has this dynamic with Delta. Sera is the girly girl who likes to dress up while Delta is the tomboy that hates getting too dolled up.
  • What's Up, King Dude?: Her default attitude towards people.
  • Warrior Prince: She is a princess of the Volcanic Plains and trained as a warrior.

     Keira 

Lady Apprentice of The Grasslands and Champion Of Artemis

One of the mother's older litters, she was overlooked mostly until she was chosen to be the next lady of the Grasslands.

  • Action Girl: While she is a hunter and not a warrior, she is decent enough in a fight to survive against battling gods.
  • The Apprentice: Her position in the grasslands
  • Confirmed Bachelor: Mentions that she doesn't want romance of any kind.
  • Classical Hunter: As the Lady Apprentice of the Grasslands and Champion of Artemis.
  • Celibate Hero: Mentions that she is asexual and doesn't want anything to do with romance at all.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Most of her dialogue is snarky.
  • Heroic Bastard: Never knew her other parent and her mother was constantly running off to have more kids.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: At the start of the story, she has sixty five siblings and her mother is pregnant again.
  • Nature Hero: Prefers to be outside in the forest.
  • Number Two: While she seems to not do much with her position, this is her official position in the Grasslands.
  • Outdoorsy Gal: She feels truely at home in the woods and wants to be outside in it as much as she can. Her hunting trips usually just mean that she wants to be a way from people and outside for a while. Though she does bring back what she catches when she doesn't eat it all.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Her Grandmothers raised her while her mother was off playing around.

     Nicholas 'Nix' Of Pride Domina 

Champion Of Erica

A shy boy that Delta adopted when he and his sister was found in the woods at age five. He is in a relationship with Destiny and is becoming friends with Keira.

     Jacqueline 'Jinx' Of Pride Domina 

Nix's identical twin sister who went through dragon training. A sweet and slight psychotic girl with a constant grin.

  • Big Eater: A voracious eater that packs away food at an extraordinary rate
  • Cloudcuckoolander: A sweet girl, but she often doesn't know what exactly is going on.
  • Family of Choice: After she and Nix were abandoned, Delta found them and took care of them. Then Fay and Doe came along a couple years later. Finally, Ayala befriended Doe and became part of the family over the years.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A sweet tempered with sandy blonde hair.
  • Half-Identical Twins: With her brother, Nix. Though he is a bit taller than her
  • Motor Mouth: Talks a mile a minute though this trait is downplayed in book 2
  • Parental Abandonment: By her mother when she was five.
  • Perpetual Smiler: When she stops smiling then something is very wrong.
  • The Pollyanna: Nothing ever rattles her perky behavior.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: With her twin brother.
  • Telepathy: A strong one though she apparently sees them more as colors than actual thoughts.

    Caterina 

Princess of Panthera and Champion Of Lupa

Kalima's cousin who disappeared into the world pool into Briar Creek when she was young then adopted by Lady Sarafina. She enjoys theater and has even joined her school's theater department.

  • Action Survivor: While she doesn't have any formal training, she manages to survive against gods until she can get away,
  • Affectionate Nickname: Called Cat or Kit-Cat by Lyra and Aleksandr.
  • Badass Bookworm: A champion who adores books.
  • Blue Blood: While this isn't as important to her as Kalima since she was raised away from court, she is still the niece of the reigning queen.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Is currently in one with Lyra who she has known since she was five.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: Averted. Compared to Sofia's family, her family was widely accepted because they were royalty.
  • Heroic Bastard: She was born out of mating to the last queen of Panthera, Anastasia.
  • Interspecies Romance: The result of a lupian father and a kanji mother
  • Missing Mom: Her mother, Anastasia, was Taken for Granite when she was only a couple months old and her dad had a small part in raising her mostly because he became leader of his pack right after her birth.
  • Official Couple: With Lyra
  • Oral Fixation: Has a habit of chewing on her hair or tail
  • Princess Protagonist: A lost princess of Panthera and one of the main characters.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her mother was turned to stone on her name day and Myra lost her when she dropped into Briar Creek.

     Lyra Harper 

Champion of Pyrrah

Caterina's girlfriend and Aleksandr's twin sister. She has an interest in science and sports.

  • Action Survivor: As much as she hates to admit it, she is outclassed by gods and monster. This is doubled by the fact that she hasn't been in many true fights before she was chosen.
  • Butch Lesbian: A masculian presenting lesbian
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She is dating Caterina and they have known each other since they were five.
  • Fiery Redhead: She has red hair and has a nasty temper on her.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Her mother is a Kanji, but her father is a human.
  • Lesbian Jock: A lesbian track star
  • Official Couple: With Caterina
  • Playing with Fire: She can summon fire as the champion of Pyrrah though she has a hard time controlling it.
  • Puppy Love: Caterina once chased her around the playground yelling at her, because she stood her up at the alter when they were five. Lyra was the one to make the first move when they were twelve by kissing her at the zoo on halloween.
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: Mentions that she knows how to shoot a bow and arrow
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: She is deeply into the supernatural world of Panthera as a Champion and has gold eyes that she got from her mother.
  • Wreathed in Flames: This is how her powers first appeared. Funny enough, she was making out with Caterina when this happened and both freaked out.
  • Youthful Freckles: While they change to spots when she is a Kanji, Lyra is described as having freckles when she is human.

     Aleksandr Starling The Third 

Champion Of Set

Naive and trusting, he isn't really the best choice for a combat focused role like a champion.

  • Action Survivor: He knows that he is outclassed by gods, but his job is to fight them. This causes him no end of angst.
  • Book Dumb: Everyone knows he isn't the smartest person in the room and he even admits that he struggles with tests.
  • Butt-Monkey: No one really respect him at all.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: He and Sofia have known each other since they were little and are currently dating.
  • Disappeared Dad: His dad is often away on business.
  • Ditzy Genius: While he doesn't have much book smarts, he is a gifted hacker who managed to combine a computer with a spell to break an mental spell placed on the others.
  • Good with Numbers: While he is bad under pressure, he can be very good at math when he can use as much time as he has to. This is how he got so good at cards.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: His mother is a Kanji while his father is a human.
  • Hidden Depths: His grandparents taught him how to play poker and he is a brilliant hacker even if he is bit Book Dumb
  • Interspecies Romance: The result of one
  • Jewish and Nerdy: A proud geek of Jewish descent.
  • Official Couple: With Sofia
  • Nice Guy: Sweet and playful though he doesn't have the most tack.
  • Non-Action Guy: He doesn't really fight with the champions
  • Playful Hacker: He likes hacking, but he isn't malicious in the slightest.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: He has golden eyes that he inherited from his mother and he is a champion.
  • The Smart Guy: He is a brilliant person in very limited way.

     Sofia Lopez 

Champion Of Erica

She is Aleksandr's girlfriend and at first she was disinclined to get involved in champion business, but she was chosen after Sekhmet's invasion.

  • Action Survivor: Tries her best, but she is outmatched with all of the battles the champions are in.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She and Aleksandr have known each other since they were kits in kindergarten and are currently dating.
  • The Empath: She is developing this as Erica's champion.
  • The Heart: She is the heart of the Briar Creek group.
  • Girly Girl: The most traditionally feminine of the champions and doesn't like conflict.
  • Green Thumb: It is mentioned that Griffins can boost plant growth, but she hasn't shown this ability
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: She is the daughter of a Kanji woman and a lupian man. Her parents had to leave to Briar Creek to find a place to raise her siblings and her.
  • Interspecies Romance: Daughter of a city griffin and a lupian. She considers herself to be culturally lupian though since she was raised by her father's pack
  • Official Couple: With Aleksandr
  • Neat Freak: The first thing she does when she gets to Sanctuary is clean the place.
  • Super-Strength: She is a griffin and they are naturally strong.
  • Winged Humanoid: She is a city griffin and has a kanji build with wings.

Dragons

    General 
  • Badass Adorable: The hatchlings
  • Badass Family: Each of them is a fire breathing dragon and they consider themselves a family
  • Big Eater: Everyone of the dragons are shown to eat alot. Diana even finishes the rest of a royal breakfast.
  • Bond Creatures: Each of them bonded to someone
  • Breath Weapon: Each possesses the ability to shoot flames out of their mouths and occasionally when they fart.
  • Dragon Rider: They all have riders
  • Family of Choice: Their interactions show them to consider each other family. Nya is the mother, Eon/Eona and Diana are the older siblings/cool aunts while Ryu, Sora, and Kottr are the children.
  • Killer Rabbit: All of the young dragons.
  • Long-Lived: Dragons live up to a thousand years while tea cup dragons reach over five thousand.
  • Natural Weapon: They are fire breathing dragons with claws, teeth, and tails
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: The young dragons.
  • Tail Slap: While they don't use it in combat too often, they have to be careful not to hit someone when they walk in crowded spaces.
  • Team Pet: While they don't really get much attention in the story, they function mostly as part of a group.

     Eona/Eon 

A bronze dragon who bonded with Delta when she hatched her egg.

    Diana 

A red dragon who bonded with Keira. She likes food and spends most of her time with other dragons.

    Nya 

A wise purple dragon who bonded with Jinx though they aren't close.

    Kottr 

A red dragon hatchling that bonded with Kieran.

  • Puppy Love: He is a young dragon and dating Sora. They barely leave each other alone.
  • Shoulder-Sized Dragon: Being in the prison world halted his growth so he is barely taller than Sora.

    Sakura 'Sora' 

A purple dragon hatchling that bonded with Kalima.

    Ryu 

A red dragon hatchling who bonded with Fay.

     Pink Diamond Dust 'Pinkie' 
A pink tea cup dragon that belongs to Doe and Ayala.

     Tadashi 'Dashi' 
Nix's blue dragon

Gods

     General 
  • The Ageless: As immortal beings, they don't age at all.
  • Action Girl: All of the female gods have some combat skills.
  • Action Mom: Bastet and Freya are war gods with children.
  • Badass Family: Most of them are related to each other and all of them have proven themselves capable in combat.
  • Blue Blood: Most of them rule over something.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: The Pantheran Gods paired off with their siblings. Since they are immortal, they don't have any ill effects from it
  • Hot God: Most of them are said to be attractive.
  • Interspecies Romance: Aside from Artemis and Phyrrah, most of the gods are of two different species
  • Living Legend: They are worshiped and many legends have spread about all of them
  • Mama Bear: Freya and Bastet are mother goddesses that are said to be very protective of their children
  • Physical Gods: Each of them are gods
  • Ruling Couple: The gods that are in charge of ruling places tend to rule as a couple.

Old World Major Gods

    Tiamat 

Mother Of Monsters

A shapeshifting goddess who was imprisoned by Reyna and thought to be dead

  • Celibate Hero: She describes her marriage with Finris as mostly pragmatic in nature and doesn't seem to desire much in the way of romantic company.
  • Cain and Abel: With Reyna who has tried to kill her on numerous occasions.
  • Interspecies Romance: Mated with Finris who is a wolf.
  • Maker of Monsters: One of her titles is Mother of Monsters
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Unclear if she falls under this. While one of her titles is mother of monsters, it is unclear how she earned this title. Though she does say that snakes are her children.
  • The Nicknamer: Gives one to everyone she speaks to and thinks of them by that name. This changes soon after she meets Swift Song and Green Beryl
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: She was imprisoned for many years and everyone thought that she was dead from the battle.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: Reyna did this to her for thousands of years while she was imprisoned. She still has trouble remaining in one form now.
  • Snake Person: Her usual form is a large black serpent that towers over a teenage girl.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Has this ability while she is usually a snake, she has transformed in a Kanji, a griffin, a dragon, and several other critters.
  • We Can Rule Together:

    Finris 

Lord Of the Sun

Tiamat's former mate. He protects Sanctuary.

    Sekhmet 

The Lady In Red, The Queen of Leonis

  • Arc Villain: While she wasn't a true villain, she was the one that caused the most trouble in Book One. Though she has been demoted by the time book two starts since Reyna reveals herself as the true threat of the series.
  • The Atoner: Since she wasn't there for Penelope's early years, she has devoted herself to being a better mother. Though it is downplayed since she doesn't try to earn forgiveness from the people she hurt in Panthera. Of course most of them are long dead by now, so she can't really earn it.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Unwillingly forms one with Reyna
  • The Dreaded: Everyone in Panthera fears her. They don't even say her name for most of the book and only call her the lady in red.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: It is obvious that she loves her wife and daughter. She spent many years trying to make up for what she done in the past and she only went back to evil when her family could have been in danger.
  • Fiery Redhead: What she has mellowed out to be
  • Feathered Fiend: While she was this when she was evil, since she has reformed she no longer qualifies as this.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: She has red eyes that are described as miniature suns.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: While she tries to manage it now a days, in her early years, she managed to create a desert out of her rage alone.
  • Heel–Face Turn: As the result of Natalie putting her foot down and telling her that she needs to do better for their daughter. While Sekhmet first rejected it and kept being evil, she eventually grew tired and lonely. Now, she is getting therapy and spending time with her child and wife.
  • Interspecies Romance: Natalie seems to be a Kanji though considering the other creatures that we see in the old world she could be anything.
  • Psycho Lesbian: She is in love with a woman and she has some deep rooted issues that she is working on.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Zig-Zagged. When she was evil then this implies, but after her Heel–Face Turn, she doesn't fall under this anymore
  • Retired Monster: Where she is during the story. She feels bad that she hurt her family and is trying to be better for them, but she doesn't care about the atrocities that she committed in Panthera.

    Reyna 

The Night Bringer, The Lady of Slaughter

  • Big Bad: Of book two.
  • Cain and Abel: She imprisoned Tiamat for thousands of years and every time they are together on page, they are either fighting each other or Reyna is manipulating Tiamat
  • Lack of Empathy: Her first scene is killing her minion for failing her mission and it only gets worse from there
  • Feathered Fiend: An evil griffin
  • The Man Behind the Man: Revealed to be the one who created the Rogues.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Seems to believe this
  • No Love for the Wicked: Mentions that she tried sleeping with someone a long time ago, but that she didn't enjoy it.
  • The Sociopath: Valor describes her as this.
  • Straw Nihilist: Believes that the only purpose of life is the never ending rush towards death and the only way to win at life is to appease death by causing as much destruction of life as possible.
  • We Can Rule Together:

    Celeste

     Charlotte 
A half spider chaosborn woman who owns a furniture store that Sofia and Aleksandr shop at. It is revealed that she is working with Reyna and tries to kidnap them, but is killed by Reyna soon after.

Rogues

    High Mother 

The latest in a line of leaders of the Rogues.

  • Abusive Parents: She is called High Mother and acts as the leader of the Rogues, but she is shown to be very abusive to those under her.
  • Bad Boss: She is terrible to the Rogues that work under her.
  • Big Bad: Of the Rogues
  • Co-Dragons: She has this role along with Solsiembre and Delphine
  • Evil Overlord: To the Rogues.
  • Feathered Fiend: An evil siren.
  • Human Sacrifice: What she has her followers do to feed her Crystal Fruit trees with the blood
  • Legacy Character: The latest in a line of High Mothers
  • Maker of Monsters: Created the Chaosborn in the Rogues and has a training facility to make an undead army that Eliza stumbles upon.
  • Necromancer: She had a whole army of undead soldiers. Though they were easily killed, so they were probably new or rejects that she wanted to get rid of.
  • Villainous Lineage: As the High Mother, she is the result of five thousand years of cult leaders.
  • Would Hurt a Child: While she is not shown to do this, she is in charge of the Rogues and The Rogues are known to murder children.

Damian's Party

Delta's cousin. He is part of a group of adventures.
  • Cool Big Sis: Genderbent Example. Delta and him have a very close relationship with them teasing each other. They each take an interest in the other's lives and give each other advice on how to handle things
  • Dishing Out Dirt: While it isn't shown that he has it, since this is a racial ability it can be assumed that he has this.
  • Gentle Giant: He is a large griffin who doesn't like to hurt people.
  • Green Thumb: It is a natural ability for griffins though he isn't shown using this ability
  • Our Griffins Are Different: He is part feline part bird.
  • Super-Strength: A racial ability that he possesses
     Rune Stone 
A mountain Griffin from the Griffin Empire.
  • Badass Bookworm: An adventurer who has gone through several life threatening battles that is mentioned to love old books.
  • Blue Blood: While she doesn't say what her title actually is, she doesn't mention that both she and her mother possess noble titles.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A griffin ability that she processes
  • Green Thumb: She is a griffin
  • Super-Strength: Expected as she is a griffin
    Bindi 
A Kitsune from the Icy Mountains, ambiguously related to Ink Drop
    Maria 
An unseen member of the team
  • The Ghost: She isn't seen in any chapters where the team appears. Damian mentions that she came down with Pixie Flu, so she might still be recovering from it during everything.

    Steadfast 
A manticore from the Swamplands
    Boomer 
The Hydra daughter of Steadfast
  • Happily Adopted: Her inner thoughts reveal that she loves Steadfast as her father
  • Having a Blast: The second book shows that her poop has explosive qualities. Which explains how she was able to sneak out of the city to go to Sanctuary in the first place
  • Multiple Head Case: Has nine heads. While they consider themselves one person, each seems to have different interests than the other head. Any of them can control the body though it does tend to annoy the others.
